WHERE HAVE YOU GONE, DEB PLACEY?
The former DK goes to “MSG, NY”

(Deb is on the right)

Neil Best, the sports media columnist for Cablevision-owned Newsday, just broke the news about a development over at Cablevision-owned MSG Network. (Yup, no conflict of interest there, Neil!).

Deb Kaufman Placey has left Islanders broadcasts to be one of the regular co-hosts of “MSG, NY.” Over at MSG World, this is a major promotion so congratulations go out to Deb, as wonderful a person as she is a broadcaster.

The loss of Deb in Islanders Country is compensated in part by the news C.J. Papa got the nod to replace her. C.J. has been anchoring news reports on the Islanders scoreboard the last few seasons and deserved a big break. He’s such a nice guy, a long, long time ago I told my closest woman-pal that it was okay to date him. (Yes, she asked my opinion).

Deb will be missed, but I’m sure her devoted fans will catch her on some pre- and post-game shows. Congratulations to C.J. and his son, Kyle.

I guess this is what they will keep doing.
Jaffe will have a year or two more tops before they remove him, too? Forgive me, but when MSG screws this team over and over and OVER you learn ou just cant trust them.

    All the best, Deb.

Are you really upset that deb is leaving? Who cares. She was a hack anyway. Thee worst at interviewing players. Good luck regardless.

    CJ Papa now on MSG?
Fans will miss him at the games – but glad to see that MSG knows good talent when they see it!
    Good guy and GREAT broadcaster!!
    Glad for Deb too!

I wish her all the best! I’m sure she is a wonderful person. However? I have to agree with some others, I didn’t care much for her interviewing skills, I thought she asked dumb questions, unless someone else was writing them for her?

I was confused why Deb would leave the Isles Broadcast Team, which with having NHL Center Ice I thought was the best in the NHL. I’ve seen CJ Papa at some games and to fill in once in a while, but I’m not too sure why they are making a switch.

Wow thank god, maybe I can watch an Islander pregame or intermission without changing the channel…

Who are you people, she is terrible!! Watch some real hockey broadcasts before you call her a great broadcaster, she sucks.

  8. Seriously, how can you say she was great? She asked the most irrelevant obvious questions. Thank god shes gone!

    You’re prayers have been answered.

Oh man, that stinks! My theory is that this was a personal matter more than professional. Deb was great and she’ll surely be missed, I think the only reason why I’d want to tune into the Isles games this season was to see the cheery faced Deb.

I don’t understand why all the animosity towards her. Sounds like the same idiots on that Islanders Country board. They’re all experts on everything aren’t they Chris?

deb was great. she actually brought some respect to women in a male dominated field. unlike the pathetic “ice girls” who are nothing more than hooters on iceskates. it’s an embarrassment being at hockey games and having those girls skating around. at least have them do some ice skating tricks or something. they are just “eye candy”, it is unnecessary. good luck to you deb. you are missed at the islanders.

Is Deb married ? Why the name change ? Does she have any kids.
I miss her on the Islanders games. She actually knew something about the sport you were watching. This is unlike other sports with the mandated female sideline reporters who rarely have a clue what sport you or they are watching. Good luck Deb.
