PUCK DADDY TACKLES DP & INJURY POLICY.
DOES NOT INJURE HIMSELF.
Oh, the irony, or coincidence. That Alanis Morrisette Ironic song still has me messed up on the difference.
Anyway, around the same time Greg Wyshynski of Puck Daddy wrote this opus with quotes from yours truly on the NHL injury policy, the Islanders released complete details about the Fantastic IVth’s sports hernia surgery.
At least I’m quoted saying the Islanders were showing signs of loosening up the distribution of information.
In other news, Mitch Fritz optionally practiced with the club this afternoon. Since Mark Parrish and the Bridgeport Sound Tigers have a game tonight, I would think Fritz would be there if the Islanders didn’t want him around for Saturday night, or Monday night, or Tuesday night. We shall see.

Greg was nice enough to pick up my satirical look on the whole “situation” from last week.
Kudos CB - you’re a star!
finally the fans get something they want.
Keep Fritz in the lineup if you want, but plug Tamby back in, and see if he got the message. Sit Comrie or Sim on Saturday, and see if they get a message. Rinse and repeat.
At some point, though, they gotta do better than Fritz as the call up.
I want it noticed, the Ducks and Wings beat the enforcerless Red Wings with physical hockey. A little intimidation never hurts.
A little intimidation? Very little, if the opposing team can just blow right by him!
Now that Hillen is in B’port where he belongs, Tamby is now the currently worse playing player the Isles have on the roster. I have no problem with keeping Tamby on the bench and playing Fritz. I certainly wouldn’t bench Sim, who has been pretty good (if a bit inconsistent).
I wanted to share a great letter sent to the ny islanders website by “Angry Pete”
I’m sure you will agree he makes some valid points while at the same time, be entertained….
To whom it may concern,
As a website responsible for reporting TEAM-RELATED NEWS, how on Earth do you justify not reporting that your franchise goalie was placed on IR??
Lord knows that you have no problem force-feeding me stories anytime someone in this organization does something well, albeit few and far in between, but you won’t report that the face of the organization is out for an extended period of time, YET AGAIN.
But hey… Chris Campoli visited a Costco this week!! And you actually have the nerve to put up a story on Dina the arena Hostess, are you for real?
I understand that your reporting of injuries policy this year is somewhat of a joke, but must you continue to insult fans by not addressing ANY of this? The less we know, the better, right? Or is it a case of “out of sight, out of mind”?
I’ve donated so much money over the course of the last decade to this ABORTION of a franchise that it makes me sick. I’ve watched other teams rebuild the right way and get out of their ruts in a few years tops. This franchise, along with the people and decsions involved with it continue to get worse as time goes on. It’s not my opinion … it’s that of SOCIETY.
Thousands of fans can’t be wrong, it JUST MAY BE you people.
Please, I beg you to defend yourself and justify any of this. Please show me that the people in Customer Service have more fight left in them than the players on the ice.
Dear Angry Pete: Yes I had the “nerve” to write about Dina, because you can’t spend every hour of the day hopeless and complaining. Life’s too short for that. Society tells us that too.
Angry Pete’s Brother…Thumbs to your Bro. The Isles are a complete disaster. They have always been, I truly believe they always will be. I watch out of morbid curiosity. So does everybody else. The only people that truly support this org are the ones who are paid to. Everyone else is just so beaten down, they call themselves Isle fans out of habit. THIS is the worst the Isles have EVER been. 1999, 2000 there was hope. New arena? Ok. Lousy GM, a wack-a-doo for an owner. Ok. No end in sight.
Dee: Let me begin by apologizing if my remarks were taken out of context, they were in no way meant to slight you. I’ve heard about your blog and visited it just recently for the first time. Anything hockey or Islanders-related is good stuff to me, considering the team doesn’t get covered much outside of the LI area. I’d venture to say that 99.9% of the fans out there appreciate the Dina story. Trust me, as a single male …. I appreciate Dina too, lol. My point might have been missed due to my obvious anger with the organization. Is it not the job of the ‘official team website’, especially one sponsored by the NHL itself, to report news responsibly when it pertains to the team and it’s self-appointed franchise players? Again….I can stare at Dina all day long, but at least give me the scoop on what’s going on, whether it be good or bad. Keep up the good work.
Dear Angry Pete: Ain’t my job to scoop what’s going on. It’s Botta’s. Think of me as the “Weather Girl” on News 9. I’m the woman that bakes cookies and tries to make everyone feel better when things suck. And thank you. It takes a very big man to apologize. That’s incredibly cool in my book. And it doesn’t happen often.
