A CALL FOR SUPPORT ON TUESDAY
Donate Care Packages to Op. Wounded Warrior

by admin on November 9th, 2008 at 1:55 am

Dear Point Blank Readers: I received the following email from an Islanders season ticketholder named Dan Krupa, requesting that we spread the word about a Care Package Collection for the Wounded Warriors at the Veterans Day matinee on Tuesday when the Islanders host the Flyers.

My name is Dan Krupa and I’m a volunteer firefighter and a part of the Nassau County Fire Fighters Operation Wounded Warrior (NCFF-OWW).  I am working with the Islanders on collecting care packages at the main box office entrance and Gate 16 on Veterans Day for NCFF-OWW.

We are a registered non-profit organization of Fire Fighters who run a collection campaign of care package items prior to the holidays for the past several years.  During the first weekend in December we have three “Long Red Lines” of fire vehicles that bring the collections to the Wounded Warriors who will be spending their holidays recovering in the hospitals away from their families.  We visit Fort Bragg, Camp Lejeune, Bethesda Naval and Walter Reed Army Hospitals.

What I would like to ask from you, if you would be so kind, is to help promote the collection of the care items prior to the game on Tuesday.  We are reaching out for help in letting the fan base aware of the collections being done that day.  We know that you have a tremendous following as well as the connections to perhaps pass this on to other bloggers to help spread the word.

Any assistance with this would be great. Thank you in advance on behalf of all the Wounded Warriors on Long Island…Dan Krupa

Approved and needed Care Package items include: phone cards, gift certificates, large and extra large clothing items, white T-shirts, boxer shorts, toiletries for male and female soldiers, sweat shirts and sweat pants.

Let’s do everything we can to support Dan and his group’s efforts. Thank you…CB

Will be an honor to see Colin Powell drop the pick on Veterans Day.

I’m tellingn you, I think last years draft is going to be a nightmare. Trivino has been a non entity with BU; Ness (a supposed offenseive wizard) hasn’t done anything; and the same with Toews.

Meanwhile, Bailey is hurt, while you have a kid like Boedker playing extremely well in Pheoix. He’s an 08 player outplaying an 06 player like Oxposo

Man, Pheonix is looking good for their future with Mueller and Boedker. isles could have had both!

great cause, throw the stupid party politics out the window.

Milbury set this franchise back 20 years, what a remarkable achievement. Luongo had another shutout last nite, DP is the biggest bust in NHL history, he stinks even when he’s heathly. Oh the pain.

I’ve gathered a few items for donation and will bring them on Veteran’s Day. Thanks for bringing this to our attention CB.

By the way, as far as I know, Colin Powell did not change his party affiliation, he just supported Obama. Colin Powell and John McCain are both American Heroes.

  6. Good morning. I wanted to let people know–who might miss this opportunity–that they can donate phone cards to their favorite soldier or “operation” by email via our gift card tool located on the SpeedyPin.com home page. The direct URL to the gift card tool is http://speedypin.com/phone/card/gift-of-prepaid.html.

Thank you for supporting the troops.
