GOALTENDING CHANGE
Mannino up, Danis down
Peter Mannino up to the Islanders. Yann Danis to Bridgeport.
Expect MacDonald to start all three games on the trip. Danis has not played since Nov. 1 and could use the work in the American League.
Islanders getting smarter, avoiding situations in the past when goalies like Mike Dunham and the Dubester started games with a month of rust.

Am i correct to assume that with KO out Bailey’s minutes will increase ???
Brian, Chris TMC, and all others:
I stand corrected. I don’t disagree with giving MacDonald a rest… but I never thought it would be Mannino that would be called up.
The original post said if MacDonald had a stinker of a game… then Mannino should be given the chance.
Chris, I think you are right. MacDonald shouldn’t play every game… but I was concerned with pulling the rug out from under him simply IF he was to have a bad game.

I definitely like sending Danis down for a few starts to shake the rust off. Why not let Mannino start one? from most reports I’ve read the goaltending in Bridgeport has been solid.
I’d think a 4:1 Starter to backup ratio should be pretty good. JMac has started the 8 games since Danis played against MON.
I don’ think they should be managing personnel like they were trying to fight their way into a playoff spot in mid November. This team should still be in “what do we have” mode.
I don’ think JMac or DP (eventually) should need to be in Brodeur mode…
5 games in 7 days… let Maninno start Saturday, and Danis start one next week after getting in 2 or 3 at Bridgeport.
If he can fight, he can start the game, when Fritz starts a bench clearer he can take Miller out… and then Jmac can finish up against Lalime. Advantage us!
This move makes total sense. Goalies cannot play rusty (at least not most of us). Snow could play rusty better then anyone. Danis got to the point where they probably did wish to play him to keep MacDonald fresh but Danis had sat too long. He can go down and get a few games and then come back and give MacDonald some rest. Maninno has been red hot and could also spell MacDonald but at any rate, some time soon Joey is gonna need a day off.
i knew mannino would come up ive been saying that all along
Absolutely agree with above comments. And it’s also interesting to see a new guy on the team. Since there is no TV coverege of AHL games.
I think Danis needs to go down. In the last game he played he seem to slowly get back in the net after playing the puck and he almost got burnt on numerous occations.
Why don’t they give Eric Fichaud or Tommy Soderstrom a call?
