PRE-GAME SHOW: NYI at New Jersey, 7:05 pm
The Friday afternoon marathon from The Rock
1:25 pm, The Rock - Hello from the press room of the Prudential Center. Nice place the Devils have here. As I may have mentioned before, best thing about The Rock is that wherever you go you know it’s the home of the New Jersey Devils. It’s their place; they are the primary tenant. The franchise and its partners did a wonderful job with the joint. Not a bad place to spend the day and night, as we are today. Let’s begin…
*
Scott Gordon knows the recall of enforcer Mitch Fritz means he will not roll four lines tonight, and he is okay with that. The Islanders coach did not hide the fact he plans on double shifting a few of his deserving forwards and in fact seemed to relish the opportunity. Trent Hunter? Sean Bergenheim? Andy Hilbert?
The Islanders are in Buffalo tomorrow and Montreal on Monday, but the busy slate also doesn’t appear to alter Gordon’s thinking. Hey, the guy’s won three games in a row - he gets the benefit of the doubt for at least 24 hours.
Thomas Pock is the lone healthy scratch for the Islanders tonight. We estimate the icetime of the returning Brendan Witt to be 16:32.
*
Know this also about the Mitch Fritz recall: it is the final proof of how far prospect Blake Comeau has fallen down the Islanders’ depth chart.
This latest opening wasn’t created by an injury to the bruising Tim Jackman, but to young forward Kyle Okposo. The Islanders play three games in four nights and in a perfect world could use a skating wing to sub for Okposo. Yet Comeau didn’t get the call and likely received little consideration.
If Comeau doesn’t turn around his game in the eyes of management and the coaching staff soon, there’s little reason to think you’ll see him before March - if at all.
*
The Mitch Fritz story is a very happy one on a family level. When Mitch signed with the Islanders over the summer, his mom Dena noticed her son’s new team would have an off-day on November 23 in Montreal, the site of the Grey Cup. Mrs. Fritz declared right then that her entire family would be there to see Luke Fritz play in the Canadian Football League championship game.
For that to happen, Mitch Fritz - who has spent the majority of his career in the minors - would have to be on the Islanders roster. There was also the little detail of Luke Fritz’s team, the Montreal Alouettes, you know - actually making it to the Grey Cup.
“Luke has been in five Grey Cups and I’ve missed them all,” said Mitch after the morning skate. “It’s just an unbelievable set of circumstances. Mom called it.”
*
Brent Sutter with a minor surprise after today’s morning skate: despite Scott Clemmensen’s 3-1 win last night, it will be Kevin Weekes in goal tonight for the Devils. The gritty Pierre-Luc Letourneau-Leblond was sent to Lowell (AHL) yesterday.
Devils still without Brian Rolston (ankle), Bobby Holik (broken pinkie), Andy Greene (broken hand) and the Best Goalie We’ve Ever Seen (elbow).
Brent told the press today that he was happy with his team’s first and third period last night against the Panthers, but not the second. Oh, let’s just be realistic: how many teams in the league are dominating for 60 minutes straight?
*
The stars are aligned for the Islanders to have a no-excuses win tonight. In a unique scheduling quirk, the Devils played Florida here last night and won, 3-1. The Devils have some key injuries - like the NYI, starting with the big guy in goal - and worked hard for their two points against the Panthers. The Islanders are rested. They also have Brendan Witt and some confidence back.
4-3 Islanders.

A must-read from Greg Logan of Newsday today in his weekly Islanders Insider. Greg has Islanders GM Garth Snow’s first comments since the start of the season (must be the three-game winning streak!).
The most news-worthy item in Greg’s lengthy conversation with Snow comes at the very end. The GM makes it clear that if Josh Bailey is still an Islander after 9 games, the kid is not going to the World Junior Championships to represent Canada. “The way I look at it,” said Snow, “if that scenario plays out he’s a New York Islander and that’s where I’d want him.”
I feel a “Islanders Bratty American GM Snubs Team Canada” headline coming on. Love it!

A fascinating assortment of more than 70 Comments on my Q & A with the Suozz, Nassau County Executive Tom Suozzi. Some of you wrote it was the same old politics and didn’t break any new ground, and I hear you on that. Prior to the interview, the point had been made that it’s really the turn of Hempstead Town Supervisor Kate Murray to be heard on the Lighthouse Project.
Still, Suozzi did advance the story a bit with his discussion of public transportation, acknowledgement that the property development around the Coliseum is as important to him as it is to Charles Wang and Scott Rechler and his frank admission that the thing can’t get done soon enough.
And when you consider PB is done off a laptop in my dining room, as opposed to the deluxe headquarters of Long Island’s newspaper in Melville, give some credit to the Nassau County Executive for taking the time to speak directly to hockey fans. Fact is, by guiding the vote on the Lighthouse Project to a landslide approval, Suozzi has completed a major portion of his work.
I left a message on Wednesday with one of Kate Murray’s top aides. As a resident of the Town of Hempstead, I’m really looking forward to a conversation.
*
Mats Sundin? Not coming here. Brendan Shanahan? No interest on either side. Marian Gaborik? Don’t have the pieces or the desire to pay the Wild price.
Let’s say it again so you can crush me if I’m wrong: the Islanders will not make any major roster moves between now and the NHL holiday trade moratorium which begins around December 22.

“NY Hockey This Week” returns on Saturday from 1:30 - 2:30 pm on 1050 ESPN Radio with Don La Greca and his amateur sidekick.
Among our guests will be Mike Sillinger, on the eve of the first game of his AHL conditioning stint in Bridgeport, his first game in the minors in more than 15 years. Besides asking Mike about that, I hope to have some fun with some career views like his toughest opponents in the faceoff circle.
*
“Hockey Night Live” is soon to be dead. Amazing. I watched it on replay last Saturday and it was on my schedule this week to praise MSG Network’s efforts with its one-hour show with analysts Butch Goring, Ken Daneyko and Ron Duguay. Now, along with “MSG, NY” it’s gone at the end of the calendar year.
From what I understand, Goring will not be gone from the MSG airwaves. Although he loses the “HNL” gig in six weeks, the final piece to the dynasty will receive more airtime on upcoming Islanders broadcasts on The Plus. That’s a good thing.
*
For you Deb KaufmanPlacey fans, Deb will be one of the main hosts of the “MSG, NY” successor, which Newsday Cablevision-sponsored media blogger Neil Best described as a “less news-dependent, more Madison Square Garden-oriented version of the old ‘SportsDesk.” There you have it!
And speaking of Newsday bloggers, Baumbach and Rieber had a giggle over my note last week that the Islanders needed to go 16 games over .500 the rest of the way to make the playoffs and my suggestion that it was not 100% a mission impossible. Go-Go’s boys are 2-0 since. Now they only have to play 14 over, punks!
*
In writing a few times about the Islanders’ lack of a full-time defensive assistant - and noting every time Ken Morrow comes in for his tutorials - I may have been callous and implied the team’s defensemen go uncoached. This was most certainly not a slight to Islanders’ assistant coaches Dan Lacroix and John Chabot.
Lacroix calls out the D pairings behind the bench during games and spends a lot of time in video sessions with the blueliners. Although Lacroix and Chabot were NHL centers, they work with the defensemen as much as the forwards.
The Islanders are far from the only team in the NHL without a defensive assistant. The Canadiens have a pair of former forwards - Kirk Muller and Doug Jarvis - and they seem to be getting by. Should the Islanders add a full-timer by next training camp? Absolutely. But it was unfair if I ever gave the impression Campoli, Gervais and Co. were without mentors.

Sundin - pass.
Shanny - pass.
Gaborik - pass, and, well, godspeed to whatever team (1) trades for him, (2) signs him in the offseason. value.
Kate Murray appears to be awaiting the completion of the EIS before making any public comments.

What happend to Comeau? Has his play really fallen off that much or is there something else we don’t know about? He was one of the best all around players last year, regardless of what the stats say. Just weird man…
Disappointing news on Comeau. If he’s going to fall so far out of favor, I would rather have it be because of poor play with the big club. It’s hard to justify doing this to a guy who showed promise last year while Tambellini gets rewarded with a one-way contract and consistent ice time this year (other than a VERY short vacation in the press box) while showing absolutely nothing. I don’t think we should give up on Tambs by any means, before I get hit over the head with that. I’m merely saying Comeau seems to be getting more of a raw deal than even Tambs got from Nolan.
i have a felling J.Tambellini comes through bigtime 2nite!
also how dose this happen to Comeau? he was great last year, and showed a ton of potential, and what dose he get for it? a season in the AHL? come on Gordon! bring him up!
Is Comeau getting a Snow job because he was on Team Nolan? It’s been said here and other places that the kid does nothing but work to get back to the NHL, and there wasn’t too much to keep him off an NHL roster to begin with.
It’s tough to say there’s no room for a kid like that when you dress Tambellini who’s ahd 4 goals in 95 games, and “First Base” Andy Hilbert. But to bring up Fritz to spend more time at a urinal during the Grey Cup, than he will in the 4 or 5 game he plays is ridiculous.
I’d like to see Fritz as much as anybody, but this doesn’t seem to be the time or place for it.
I wonder if Comeau got into it with Ricky last year… that seems to be your ticket off the Island… ask Asham.
Its becoming increasingly probable that Comeau was absolutely livid when Nolan was fired and he let the wrong person know
i’m glad that we’ll get to see more of goring on isles broadcasts. i thought that he did a very good job with that last year.
I think Comeau did so well last year and the team made it known to all thathe had a place on the team along with the other young guys this year that it probably went to Blake’s head and he stopped working as hard. That is what was reported earlier. The team is probably either shocked he hasn’t really picked it up in Bridge (though I have heard favorable reports) or Botta may be slightly off. Maybe they 1)knew they needed a heavy weight for this weeks games or 2) didn’t want to interupt the progress Comeau is making down in the minors.
If you look at the Islanders depth chart there are so many talented wingers who will be competiting for spots over the next few years that you knew Tambelleni or Comeau wouldn’t survive. One of them will get moved for other assets.
JPinVA… I agree with you on Comeau, in that it’s curious circumstances. But at the end of the day, if I am not mistaken, Tambellini’s got himself a one-way deal, and Comeau’s still on a two-way. The Isles are going to give Tambellini every chance in the world to break through this season, like it or not.
However, I disagree with you on Fritz. I like his inclusion in this weekend set. Fritz serves as a deterrent in case any Devil took head coach Brent Sutter’s overly emotional remarks to heart, and considers trying to run Weight. And you can agree or disagree with me all you like, but having been at the debacle that was the 7-1 Buffalo loss, the Isles were manhandled in every way, shape and form in that game and in that brawl. To add insult to injury, Ruff continually sent out Andrew Peters after the fight, who made his presence felt with the kind of fearlessness one would have when he knows the Isles had no one to challenge him.
One off-the-subject-but-while-we’re-on-AHL-recalls thought: I’m also curious about Ben Walter. He was traded from Boston’s AHL team (where Gordon was coach) to the Isles in exchange for Petteri Nokelainen. At the time, I recall Snow saying that both players just needed a change fo scenery. Since Gordon’s come on board, Walter was quickly dispatched to Bridgeport in September, and not a mention of him has really been made since. Just curious, is all.
Isles should [hopefully] dominate this one. 6-2 Isles, with Parise naturally having both Devils goals.
We should be honored Suozzi took the time to talk to us? CB your site here is doing well and I am pretty sure Suozzi is aware or was made aware of that. I would think that most of us are old enough to vote. I would be interested to see if Murray would do the same for you knowing this? I would think only if she had something positive to say so lets hope she does! Shame about Comeau the guy seemed like he was coming along real well. At Gabrielles Capuano seemed pretty confident that he would be back real soon, maybe just telling us what we wanted to hear? Anyway amazing job CB, its nice to get the information from you. Always a great read amd more importantly good for the team and for us fans!
I’m surprized, that Gordon doesn’t recall Comeau. There are lots of reasons why he should bring him on the roster. There are a cople gray areas on the team now (Tamby and Comrie), so he could take the kid in, at least, to se if there is a difference in his performance against Tambs or Comrie. And I think it is. Or, maybe, there are a contract issues?
Islanders:13
Devils:00000.1
Witt with a hat trick and Comeau comes flying in via Wang’s private jet with an assist.
DAAA ISLES!!!
I think Comeau being in the AHL has more to do with the fact that he has a 2-way than anything else. They can afford to have him cook for a while longer and take a look at other guys. If Blake can grow from that, thats great. If he cant handle that, well then maybe its better to know that kind of thing sooner rather than later. I think that things will work out fine.
i say we win 3-1. good for fritz
No no… it’s Tambellini with the Hat Trick tonight! Wouldn’t that be a special way to jump-start his future awesome career as the Islanders’ top Forward in 2009? It was his dad, Steve, who had the first-ever hat trick for the Devils (courtesy of Chico & Doc last night on the Devils broadcast on The Plus).
Hey, it could happen . . .
This whole Comeau nonsense is really pissing me off. I live in LA and last year I only had the privilege of watching about 10 games (between going to sports bars and being back in Ny for the holidays). I am not exaggerating when I say - every game I watched, there was always one player that impressed me every time: Blake Comeau. He was really one of the only bright spots for me last season. There are certain players that, when on the ice, they make things happen and have a certain calmness to them. They don’t rush, they seem to know where the puck and opposing players are going to be, and can carry the puck through the neutral zone (without coughing it up - Tambellini, Comrie, insert favorite Islander underachiever here).
I don’t know what’s going on with this kid. If Gordon just can’t get a stiffie for him or what, but it’s disappointing. In the off-season, I thought Blakey had a chance to be on the “first line” with Gueirin and Weight….I guess not. CHRIS - please get an update from Snow and/or Gordon on him!!!I Is Tambellini really that much better? Come on!!
I have the internet package this year so I can watch all of the games (f%$#ing awesome). I hope charles is making some money with Neulion. Go lighthouse! Go Comeau! Get this kid back in the bigs.
Oh…Isles win this one 5-1. Four in a row baby!
jackman go get em!!!!!!!!!!!!
What more can Comeau do? He gets sent down and in 13 games has 11 points (2 goals, 9 assists). So, what gives? maybe the Islanders should just come out, tell the truth and that is he has a 2 way contract and we can do what we want. I could understand their excuses but, when Tambelini has done nothing and Nate Thompson is in camp all of 3 days and not only makes the team but plays right away, there’s got to be some hint of favoritism here towards a Providence Bruin who barely spent any time in the NHL. I don’t want to hear the excuse of 17 points in 59 games that Comeau had because if we go that rout what did Hilbert do? How about Sim? What about a bum like Comrie who before he got hurt has disappeared more than an assistant at a magic show.
LA:
I really don’t ever see Comeau being a first line guy, he can’t score. Not yet anyway. Don’t confuse hustle and grit (both admirable traits) with talent. Right now 2 goals in 13 games in Bridgeport. He’s not even on the first line for the Sound Tigers. Can he have a role on the big club eventually…abolutely. However, right the team has enough grinder types. If his games becomes more well rounded he’ll be more valuable. I know Tambellini has done nothing yet to justify his spot but he’ll keep it this year because he has nothing else to prove in the AHL and this is his shot to prove he can play in the NHL or bye-bye. Comeau on the othe hand has a chance to develop his game further in the AHL and return a more complete player. Just my opinion.
Can we stop with the Tamby break out game?! If he’s going to succeed chances are its going to be over a long time not one of those 5 goal nights. Probably some sort of scoring streak or something. Speaking of scores 5-2 Islanders 4 in a row Tamby scores one goal not three but one.
This whole deal with Comeau reminds me of when Hunter 1st came up in the playoffs and did really well. Then we didn’t see him the next season. I can’t remember why that happened with Hunter, but maybe Comeau will turn out fine next season for us. He is still very young.
thompson played with gordon so he knows the system and we can use a gritty center that can play the pk like him. obviously its not comeua so hes not playing. also hes got a two way so let him develp so back off
The rose-colored Comeau glasses are more and more prevalent. I like the kid too but jeez, people act like he played like some kind of star. The way some people talk about him now, as if he was this shining star of glory on an otherwise dismal team, well its getting a bit silly. He looked pretty good last season but, in all fairness, thats it. He didnt do anything to justify the undying loyalty and unrepressed manlove some people have for him. Or, should I say if he DID show he deserved all of this I must have somehow missed it!!! Ive read enough about how he “stood out more than anyone” and how he “showed more effort than anyone” and “created more opportunities than anyone”, that stuff simply isnt true. Again its not that I dont like this kid, I actually do- I just cant believe the bias that some people have. They are willing to throw everyone under the bus as idiiots who dont know WTH they are talking about- Gordon, Snow, Capuano, anyone- so they can defend why they KNOW he should be here right now. Man… the way many Isles fans fixate and fawn over particular players really is remarkable.
The Ted Nolan era is over thank God! Andy Hilbert is no longer on the first power play unit or getting over 20 minutes of ice time. The only problem is Comeau and you have to wonder what the deal is? I know its not a conspiracy theory thing(or is it) but the kid is putting up points and was pretty damn solid last year. Have to wonder.
Yeah, there’s gotta be a back story in there about Comeau because I know what I saw last year too and it just doesn’t make any sense to me that he is in Bport to “further develop”. 11 points in 13 games? We need him up here! Something’s up.
Here’s to an exciting weekend of sports y’all!
Spinner9: Yeah, maybe not. But the first line on this team wouldn’t be the first line on many other teams…lol. I just think he has poise with the puck - something I noticed right away with Weight and Streit. They don’t panic. They want the puck. They are NHL guys - something we’ve been lacking for a while. I’m really enjoying this team and hopefully we are witnessing the start of something great.
Yes, that is a Koolaid mustache…and I’m not washing it off.
look at tambs willis. dont use ahl numbers as examples
Walter has been injured and just recently started playing again at the Bridge.
Isle in LA, I live in Florida but get to watch every game thanks to the fantastic NHL Center Ice package. It is between $139.-159.00 for the entire season and you cna watch at home. I figure that is the cost of going to watch a few games at the sports bar and now you can enjoy the audio etc. Just a suggestion. Your cable provider probably offers it.
Well.. I’ve argued both sides of the Fritz situation over the past three days. Just remember who you’re replacing. And this would be my biggest concern. You are trading Okposo’s 12+ minutes and 2-3 shots for Fritz who MIGHT get 5 mins and 1 shot over the course of 5 games.
Getting to see bergy playing with kids his own age might be a positive, but I’m not looking forward to seeing 3 more minutes of Hilbert missing empty nets.
Chris TMC Comeau was very steady out there and showed a heck of a lot of promise. You are right he didn’t look like Crosby out there obviously alot of people saw his skills. Kid had a good hockey sense and played pretty well on both ends. Just showed some promise thats all.
Strummer - Yeah man, I got’s it…best thing EVER!
Blake Comeau is the next Mark Lawrence
Discuss amongst yourselves
( note - I like Comeau - I am just stirring things up)
(Remember Mark Lawrence?)
Kevin. Actually I’m not a stats person so maybe I should have avoided that. My feeling is based on what I’ve seen only.
Example:
Nobody went thru the middle last year. It was always dump it in and hope to get to it, thru the opposition and last but not least maybe get the puck somewhere near the net. Comeau came in and went right down the middle several times. I SAW IT. And had success keeping the puck and getting it to a teammate. It was one of the exciting things about the end of the season.
This year we are playing more of that type of game. So I’m thinking there is some other reason he’s not here because this seems to be right up his alley. And heck, everyone else is developing up here, so why isn’t he?
Anyway, just having a little fun, he’ll be up sometime probably but I thought I’d join in with the whole love fest for a change, I usually don’t….:)
Fritz must be in the lineup the next 2 games in particular. The Devils have a bunch of fighters that need to be dealt with. And Fritz definately has to be in against the Sabres. I was never so embarrassed as an Islander fan as the last Sabres game where we were beaten like rag dolls and were totally unprepared for dropping the gloves.
Chris TMC, I don’t know if you’re referring to a certain post I missed, but I don’t think any of us are calling Comeau a superstar. But he and Bergy were both bright spots on last year’s team as we started looking to “the future”. It just seems strange that Tamby, Neilson, Bergy, and even Thompson and Jackman are a part of this year’s team, while Comeau, who I would certainly argue looked better last year than any of those mentioned, is falling down the Islanders’ depth chart, according to this entry (which admittedly is more an observation by CB rather than an attributed fact). We don’t have to argue extremes all the time…”Comeau should get a chance” != “Comeau is the greatest player to grace the ice”.
It’s gonna be nice to have Butch back on the broadcasts. Getting our Pre-Game show and him back is good news for our team. I was also getting tired of seeing Stan on our broadcasts for every home game, Not that there is anything wrong with him, It’s just that I always see him as a New Jersey Devils guy.
To me… Comeau was the most poised Islander carrying the puck last year.
It was easy to see.
Is he a finished product- NO!
Is he better than several of the players with the team now - YES!
Bring him up!
DOC
I have the NHL package and GF knows the schedule and the routine! Give Blake a shot.
3-1 Isles. Tambellini, Streit, and Hilbert
i agree willis but i think that maybe he should develop because okposo got rushed and i disagree with that as much as i like him
Well, Kevin, looks like you’re getting your wish lol. He’s down there developing all right. And yeah, Okposo’s got the fast track whether it’s best for him or not. I think he’ll be fine though in the long run, don’t you?
We want Comeau!!!!!!!!
We want Comeau!!!!!!!!
We want Comeau!!!!!!!!
4-2 Isles.
Hat trick from Hunter.
As I have mentioned elsewhere, it is becoming clear to me that Gordon confused Comeau with Comrie in camp, or else Comrie switched jersey with him.
Re: Comeau
“The American people like a mystery,” Leavelle said. “They don’t like anything cut-and-dry.”
Leavelle doesn’t believe in conspiracy theories. He said the number of people who claimed to have been on the grassy knoll when Kennedy was shot could fill the Cotton Bowl.
As the nation marks the 45th anniversary Saturday of the Kennedy assassination, the 88-year-old Leavelle remains one of the investigation’s most famous figures.
Standing out in his tan suit and matching Resistol cowboy hat on Nov. 24, 1963, Leavelle was handcuffed to Oswald when Jack Ruby fired his .38-caliber pistol in an attack immortalized in the famous photo from the basement of Dallas police headquarters.
i dont see how Comeau could have had anything to do with it to not warrant a call up….it was 45 years ago sheesh
I always thought Bailey is staying the entire season but have a bit more evidence that he is. Bailey’s junior team’s GM confirmed he is trying to acquire Tavares (seems these two may be linked forever). He must be feeling he isn’t getting Bailey back. His team is very deep down the middle. This is their year to win the championship it seems but they are missing their captain and top player in Josh Bailey so he is going to be pulling another top center. Just my interpretation but Bailey’s play would indicate he is staying.
wtf does this have to do with the price pf tea in china?…. comeau & kennedy/lol
whatever….
Fritz , no fritz, happy for fritz!
(Snow gets it)
Tambellini scores 1,2,3+
goals… (more like 0!!) regardless….
Win Tonight Boys.. 4 in a row & a shuffle of to Buffalo!!
P.S. Best Prediction Fritz drops em’ with clarkson or rupp.. if they have the nerve? (then waxes them)
lets go Isles.. Lets Go Islanders!!
Or Brookbank , if hes in lineup?
Go Isles!!
i think developed or not he will be great willis but i guess time will tell. either way, when you look back you may say, can you imagine what he could of done if he wasnt rushed? i wonder who will be captain in the future. hunter or okposo?
i agree pride. either one of them. sad to see leblond go down. that would of been a helluva fight
What channel can i watch the game on hd with howie and billy??? I dont want to listen to chicco and the other guy.

I agree…..WTF?
We are still the red-headed stepchild
Wow. Not much you can do with that second deflection. That was a perfect bounce for…was it Zajac?
can watch the game in HD wit howie n billy…just got off the phone wit rangervision and they said the games only in HD for the devil broadcast and when i said i dont want that i want the isles broadcast they told me and i quote “well you cant have it all”…once that was said until the lady hung up on me i spent the whole time yelling at her and they would be hearing from my lawyer haaha
Fritz looks fine to m. Better than most of the team.
Mac D is mentally fatigued. I’d give him the rest of the night off or if not start Manannio tomorrow.
There is nothing wrong with Big Mac….those were perfect deflections
Tambellini BLOWS….
Where’s Comeau?
good thing we recalled fritz to fight.
Gordon hasnt played him, now Jackman gets beat up. TAMBY SUCKS!
if gordon would ply fritz more, then jackman wouldnt be cut up
Every time I see Zach Parise wearing red and black, I curse Mike Milbury (yet again). Still think Robert Nilsson is the better player Mike?
That was a garbage play by Tambellini. He has to go. Snow has ZERO credibility as long as Tambellini is on the team.
Snow fired Nolan over this kid. What a joke.
Gervais… same ole’ bruno
miserable @ any amount of minutes used!
Winds up standing next to the goalie (after being skated around like a pilon)
and watches the goal go in the net… this time does not even try & display the matador stick sweep… Not an NHL Defencemen…period!
you cant play fritz more. he’s a liability on the ice.
Tambellini? what … Please!
matt, when brookbank and clarkson and rupp are out there the crush us. did u see bailey go flying? i did.fritz will prob drop em’ with either rupp or clarkson. remember that clarkson fought hal gill btw.he will if gordon matches the lines right
Gervais and Tambellini are not NHL players. Plain and simple. Gervais is already a minus 10.
CRAP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
now Fritz better be playing every other shift until someone on the Devils pays for that cheap shot
I wouldnt expect Nielsen back anytime soon, that didn’t look good. Amazing how much bad news one game can bring.
They better get mad now
I can’t wait for Coli Campbell’s response on that hit…
They need to get focused. They look tired. Not agressive enough.
I can tell you his response right now….
“He got 2 min for elbowing and he hit an Islander player, I don’t feel any further disciplinary action is needed.”
Goddamn this game sucks, PLAY FRITZ, GORDON! DAMN!
Doesn’t Comeau play wing AND center?
So much for fritz making his presence felt. Waste of a roster spot if your not gonna play him to keep the cheap shots down. And jackman got ragdolled. So much for our tough guys. And lastly Sim is terrible. Huge fa signing in 07!!! Haha
GORDON IS A JACKASS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
FIRE HIS PROVIDENCE ASS!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Now I’m really pissed off after seeing the replay that he only got 2 minutes for elbowing.
Maybe Campbell sent a memo to all the teams, I think he forgot to copy the refs as well
WHY IS FRITZ HERE??? GO TO HELL SNOW AND GORDON!
A fight in the last 5 minutes of a game carries a suspension and fine for the coach. Some much for everyone saying yesterday that Fritz even sitting on the bench would deter teams from taking liberties.
WHO CARES IF THERE IS A FINE? SHOW SOME BALLS. GORDON IS MINOR LEAGUE TRASH!
That’s easy for you to say, you’re not the one that would have to shell out $10,000 for a meaningless fight.
Oh Shinkdew, shut the hell up. What is 10 grand to an NHL team? Eat me.
The team doesn’t pay it clown. Gordon does. I’m sure that’s a lot to him. Maybe you could pay it for him.
A little tug and stick carries the same penalty as an elbow and butt-end to the head.
The refs sucked this game….not that the Isles deserved to win, but the refs did not help matters.
Fritz is a waste of a spot on the bench if he wasn’t out there to make someone pay for a cheap shot to the head and cause our best young player to seriously (it appeared) injure his leg/knee.
I’ve seriously had enough of Tambellini too. He just doesn’t show me anything. Call up 2 or 3 hot players from B-Port and send Tambellini and Fritz packing.
The 3 game winning streak has been wiped from my memory in those 60 minutes we just played tonight.
Back to thinking we’ll get a top 2 pick with more games like tonight.
It’s worth the 10 grand for the amount of respect he lost to his players by not sending Fritz out. And everyone knows the team always pays those fines. The coach/players never do. Eat me.
lol somebody needs to vent. So who gets the call up tomorrow?
so nielsen gets hurt and fritz playes ZERO shifts after the injury. great coaching. release fritz. waste of a roster spot.
oh come on Gordon
Fritz is there for one reason. Send them out there tonight, who cares when we play them again. It sends the message that teams can do whatever they want.
“We’ll pay you back next Tuesday if you give us a cheap shot today.” (Wimpy) LOL
Jeffe tembellini a waste of a Hockey player on Liong Island!…
Bruno gervais.. soft. with plenty of Holes… like a piece of french Canadian swiss Cheese! Islanders .. Trent Hunter … Real Leader Out there.. soon to replace Guerin, witt, etc..
will be a captain , only a matter of when…
Rest Of the Team tonight, soft un-emotional & weak after the Shot given to Nielsen…
Coach Gordon, that was a small message , send back to your club after the Devs had assumed a controlling lead in a game they believed was in hand.
Payback for the hit on Sutter, that was clean by the way…
Coach Gordon,
Your system appears to be innovative & ambitious… (good job so far)…
No how about your response when a Kid takes a cheap shot… Fritz was poorly used tonight , Snow cakked him up.
I have no doubt regradless of the spin that they hand the media.
though Coach Gordon sat him on the bench.. should have responded by bothering at the very least Brookbank, Clarkson , or Rupp.
Agreed Strummer MacDonald looked tired!
Islanders Looked Timid late in the Third!
Hope Snow has a small word for Coach.. who i still support 100%
i’m just saying!
Lets go Isles Lets Go Islanders!
I think they were just riding too high mentally from a win streak. Still talking about the Vancouver game in the pre-game and stuff. It was clear that, irrespective of everything else, they just weren’t skating very hard tonight.
Most importantly, hope Frans is OK.
*tambellini, *gervais *Long Island,
a little ticked off, excuse me.
The fine is irrelevant as it happened 3 minutes into the period. Gordon had plenty of time to use Fritz. Now well see whether Comeau has really fallen that deep on the depth chart.
called * him up.. excuse the typos.. yet one last thing , Im hearing again that there are those of you instead of engaging in honest debate about the philosophy & decisions we see made my the Club we root for,
that you would rather cry like small childern & email Botta and say we wont read your blog anymore if he is posting… thats weak, Thats Censorship, and its Un-American!
Just Like a Buch of Euro fans who as overseas Hockey people would rather see that style of play, instead of a Hybrid Style that the Nhl is currently trying to employ!
You know what i mean.
For those who suppport me on this Thank You!
I appreciate it!
for those who dissagree, thats fine as well, just be a man about it and debate it.. dont cry like a B****! thats weak!
I’m just saying!
I have never directly offended anyone here.
So therefore to chatise me is very unfair!
Lets go Isles!
