PRACTICE REPORT: ICEWORKS, 12.5.08
12:40 pm: Fritz gone, Nate back, Okposo still out
12:40 pm, Iceworks: Mitch Fritz has left the building, hockey gear over his shoulder.
Nate Thompson practicing, to the left of Mike Sillinger and Tim Jackman.
The mystery of Kyle Okposo’s hand-ish injury continues, as he is not even practicing - one week after the team originally hoped to have him back for games.
Other lines at practice are Bergenheim - Weight - Guerin, Hilbert - Bailey - Hunter, Tambellini - Park - Sim. Same six dmen and two goalies.
Rick DiPietro skated and shot pucks while wearing an Islanders track suit. Mike Comrie is back, taking part in practice as the sole owner of a yellow jersey.
I’d be kidding myself if I pretended to know exactly what it is, but Scott Gordon hit the ice today clearly with a few aspects of his team’s game he was determined to work on. My best shot at defining it would be defensive zone coverage. Gordon has been loud, lively and direct - pretty much the same as at all his practices.
More after practice.

How is it that avery gets 6 games for a pg 13 comment and the guy that mauled Frans Nielsen gets 2 games? Once again the NHL looks like it is run by clowns.
When was the last time KO skated in practice? You’d think he’d still be skating if it was just a hand injury…
i’m glad that fritz is gone. i really don’t think he belongs in the nhl. all he can is fight. one down, one (tambs) to go.
Nate Thompson practicing, to the left of Mike Sillinger and Nate Thompson?
Now THAT is talent
thanks, Dingo…CB
CB had it right…might as well be “Nate Thompson” and “Nate Thompson”. I like Thompson and Jackman, but still say it is redundant to dress both at the same time.
Bye Bye Fritz… Your abilities to keep a bench warm will be missed.
Garth, find another name to pull out of the hat next time it’s needed…PLEASE!
Now you know that your 3 guys on line 4 get even minutes….
There has to be a move on Tamby soon. The rope has been hanging there long enough and he has not grabbed. It is time to reel it it and get moving forward
Tamby has gotta go, why doesnt Garth get an enforcer that can play in the NHL if he wont keep Fritz up? McGrattan maybe? Just so dumb.
