CB ~ Amen to that indeed … But I hate to think like that as a player and fan … but the truth has stared the Isles in the face … the last 7 drafts have not produced a super star quality player for the Isles … mostly based on middle round picks. We see how far the Isles have gotten on that.

Isles need a catalytic super star… How to get one??? Finish dead last … trade or FA …. Isles’ seem incapable of any of the 3 at this time.

Obviously the Isles are better off with Tavares or Hedman, and while I’d like to see the young guys continue to progress, I really cringe at the thought of having to draft in the middle of the pack in what seems to be a much thinner draft then last year.

#1 pick is no guarantee, I know Tampa Bay is not doing well, but Stamkos is certainly not lighting it up like other #1 draft picks that were in drafts that were less lauded than this one. Not saying I don’t want Taveres. Que sera sera!

This is probably the first season I have never been angry at an Isles loss. Drafting a Tavares or a Hedman will pay off right away and for a long time. The Isles need to get a legit #1 player and since its hard enough to get a FA to sign here, drafting is the only way to go. I hate to say this but in order to win…we must lose

how does detroit do it without the 1 or 2 pick each year. Let’s try to be competitive and draft smarter than other teams. What do we have to show for all of those high picks in the late 90’s? Nothing.

to all who want one of the top picks in this years draft, IT’S DECEMBER! and you should NEVER wish for a good spot in the draft unless the team has officially been eliminated, NEVER! and who says we cant make the playoffs? and if we do then we CAN win in the first round, that could give us momentum to advance in the second round, then we would definitly have more momentum to advance to the conference finals and if we win there then we CAN WIN the CUP! you may think i am not being realistic here but it is still very possible that we could be the 08-09 Stanley Cup Champions!. look at the hurricanes and oilers from a few years ago, they made it, and we have a similar (i think better) team here now. the team is getting stronger every game and Scottie-A-Go-Go’s ”overspeed” system is also working better every game.

we’re always in the drive for 5 untill we’re in the mix for 6, and there IS a light at the end of the tunnel on this long and windy road we have all traveled on together for the last 24 years…i can see the light! can you?

If the islanders dont come out of the draft with one of the top 2 draft picks AT THE VERY LEAST….the season will have been a complete waste. Finishing .500 is not what this team needs. Qualifying for the 8th playoff spot and losing in te 1st round is not what this team needs. We need REAL talent.
