At least we’re seeing what the system has at this level. Comeau needs at least 10 games to see what he can offer. I really hope that Tambellini does discover his offense. He has way too much speed and talent for the Islanders not to try and find.

    PS…Is Kovelchuk??? worth a shot??

  2. 2 guerin13

    yes!!!!!!!!!! they did something right!!!!

  3. 3 kevin

kovie snt worth a shot . not now at least . wait the two years. i gree wit everything else though

  4. 4 andy

    THANK YOU, GORDON!!!!

Comeau only has a few games to prove he belongs. He’ll be a fan fav for tonight.

Hope Tamby’s “conditioning” assignment does wonders for his mental conditioning more than anything else. The kid has the skills, albeit in a small frame…

  6. 6 Isles316

    YES!!!

  7. 7 Rick

Hopefully this gets Tambellini’s game back on track. He’s too important a piece of the puzzle for the team to be wrong on.

  8. 8 ISLEOFNJ

    Amen to this !

  9. 9 michael

    FINALLY!!!!! LETS GO ISLANDERS!

  10. 10 Bill

Great news. Good luck Blake. Show Gordon what you can do.

  11. 11 Strummer's Army

Really just positive on all fronts!!!! Best case scenario is Comeau shows enough to stick the remainder of the season, Tambelleni finds himself down in the AHL and comes back and flourishes.
They get Okposo and Nielsen back and they resume their progress.
They get a healthy Ricky back.
Eventually give Josenau a few games at the end of the year.
They purge the vets and the guys who don’t fit at the trade deadline.
While adding big tough d-men and picks.
They sign the two college FA’s that CB wrote about.
They get the first pick and select Hedman or Tavares.

Joy to the world! Good luck to both of them…

tambs just needs to remember what it feels like to find the back of the net..really looking foward to seeing blake play tonight.good moves.

  14. 14 JOE RVC

    hes gone for good!!!!he stinks

  15. 15 Shoogah

I literally just did a dance.

  16. 16 ken

Hopefully tamby gets some confidence back and comeau does enough to stick.

  17. 17 Alex Kinkead

WOW im so excited for tonights game now!

  18. 18 Isles316

The Islanders need an emotional game I think to keep them going. They haven’t played that well in the last small sample and a bit of their edge is missing. Hopefully tonight they can find it.

  19. 19 ByeByeTams

We’ve seen the last of Jeff Tambellini. The next time you see him in an Islander jersey, it will be for an alumni game.

  20. 20 7th Woman

Let Jeff tear it up in the AHL. And everyone will be happy!

  21. 21 Alex Kinkead

Wait a second. How long is this said “conditioning assignment”?

  22. 22 bryan c

lets not get crazy over this move. Tambo couldn’t score and comeau isn’t exactly lighting the lamp either. i’ll wait and see how this one turns out

  23. 23 UIF

Alex, two weeks, I believe. Good to see Comeau up on the team again. They should put him on a line with Guerin or another finisher since he is primarily a set up man.

  24. 24 Ryan

All I have to say is FINALLY!!!! My Favorite Islander is back and hopefully to stay

  25. 25 Matt

Comeau isn’t exactly doing horrible either. Point a game is better than average even in the AHL. He seemed to play better in the nhl as well for some reason. I guess we will see.

  26. 26 Strummer's Army

When will they let Comeau have a real jersey #?

  27. 27 Matt

Have a good night all. Isles win 4-2. Comeau nets all 4!!!!!! LOL!

  28. 28 cgs878

Real jersey #? What would that be? 55? 66? how about Crosby’s 87?

Gooooo Blake. Can they send Thompson to the Bridge and get Smith up for a few games too? I wanna see him play.

  29. 29 Ryan

I would like to see Mike Iggulden called up and given a chance as well

  30. 30 bryan c

all i know is that tambellini racked up a tremendous amount of points in the ahl and that didn’t exactly translate into success in the nhl. blake’s a good player and looked good last season, but he is by no means a savior to this team. with that being said, i’m happy to see him back.

  31. 31 timm

i know the kid is taking a lot of heat right now, and i feel for that, but i am so glad this move was made. he was not producing and when gordon is making strange calls up (fritz to play less than 2 mins a game) and leaving tamby in the lineup, that just had to change.

  32. 32 Spitten'Chicklets

    Tamby Tamby Tamby… Ahhhhhh’buh’bye !!
Jeez, yea yea yea all the speed in the world we know we know. Put it this way, if he were a baseball player he wouldn’t have to wash his uniform after each game it would be so damn clean !! Sorry, this is hockey, and this kid has NO JAM WHATSOEVER ! None zero. Blake should fit in nicely as we know he can dish, and put the bisuit in the basket. Good luck kid… GO ISLES !!!

  33. 33 MT

    Good luck Tambs

  34. 34 Darthziggy

I really like watching Tambellini when he’s on, and I just hope this gives him the help he needs. Like others have said, most of it may be mental (90% of the game is half mental, as Yogi once said - and yes, I know it was baseball), but getting a few goals down there will surely lift his spirits, and then he’ll come back rejuvinated and ready to go.

He probably misses Dubie, too, since they used to be so close. Being down in the Bridge with the other players he’s been with for a while might be a nice emotional lift, especially around the holidays.

Okay now I’m just getting ridiculously sentimental, so I’m going to stop writing and go watch the game!

  35. 35 ShardZ

I’m curious, what do people think the team will do if

    1) Comeau plays well up here, Tambs plays well down there?
    2) Comeau plays well up here, Tambs still struggles?
    3) Comeau struggles, Tambs plays well?
    4) Both guys struggle?

I guess 1, 2, and 4 are the most interesting ones, because of tambellini’s 1-way contract…I’m just curious though

  36. 36 Joe

Anyone else see the hit on Bailey? Another reason why we need an enforcer.

  37. 37 shinkdew

How is having an enforcer going to teach Bailey to skate with his head up?

  38. 38 JK

Snow finally admits he is wrong.

Nolan, the coach who Snow says can not develop young players managed to turn Comeau into a decent NHL prospect.

Snow fires Nolan and buries Comeau while granting a 2 year contract on the useless Tambellini.

Nice of Snow to finally admit his mistake.

  39. 39 Joe

Again, Boulton goes out of his way to hit Bailey.

  40. 40 Joe

Boulton was trying to get Hunter to fight haha.

  41. 41 Jon

The line of thinking that the Isles had no chance at getting the first or second pick in the 2009 draft because of their play this season is ridiculous. They are near the bottom of the overall standings with 75 percent of the season left, and now the injuries are mounting. I’d be surprised if this team didn’t finish last or second-to-last when all is said and done.

  42. 42 Joe

    I sure hope youre right.

On that note, it looked like Doug Weight was getting off a little slow before, he took another shift after but I hope that it was just momentary.

  43. 43 Mike

Thank God this game is being broadcast in Manderin Chinese.

  44. 44 mark

comeou has done more this season by hitting the post than tambellini has done all season

  45. 45 kevin

    were getting spanked

  46. 46 Jax

What a surprise Comeau was one of the best islanders out there tonight. If they don’t keep him up i’ll puke. He had more scoring chances in his 2nd shift of the game then Tambs has had all year. BTW Why is Thompson on this team over Comeau?

  47. 47 Mike

Bring back Lavy he NEVER should have been fired by mildew in the first place. FIRE GORDON!

  48. 48 MikeinRichmondVa

Fear not NYI fans our first round pick is just around the corner. This NYI fan from the beginning sees the bottom of the valley just over the horizon. Bring on the youth !!!!

  49. 49 beatlebailey

what youth is there to bring on? one of the worst games of the year.

  50. 50 JPinVA

Great to see Blake back. Having a good game was gravy. You can say he needed to “fit the system” all you want, but a hockey player is a hockey player… and a political pawn is a political pawn.
Bailey hit AGAIN. Good hit or not, they are running him like a crash test dummy. Get a guy who is respected to protect these guys… and Fritz already has some measure of respect in a league he’s only played in for 10 Minutes.
This team, CONSISatently, is showing signs of drifting away from their coach. DEAD… they were absolutely dead, with the exception of 4 or 5 players that show up every night.
Wang is going to be paying a third coach by the end of the season or we’re gonna find out what kind of leadership skills Chabot has.
gordon is out of his depth. ATLANTA is terrible… 5-1 to a terrible team… these guys should be ashamed of that performance.
    Taveres… here we come.
BTW: this is becoming quite evident… In hockey, just like any other sport, DEFENSE wins hockey games. The last two years the Islanders have had the worst PP in hockey and NO FIRST LINE PLAYERS… well… except Yashin… and they WON.
It’s time for people to start telling the emperor he’s NAKED…
First step, Snow admits he was wrong about tambellini.
Next step.. MAKE GO-GO Gordon adjust to his personnel. He has young kids that don’t have a clue where they should be in the defensive zone… because he thinks they’ll be on the forecheck for 60 minutes a game.
Please… get rid of this guy… and let the person in section 301 row B seat 7 coach the team…. even if it’s a 9 year old girl. She might know enough to not to start a back up goalie 16 games straight.

  51. 51 JPinVA

Holy Crap! TWO ISLANDER FANS IN RICHMOND VA… that’ll be more than will be in the colley if this type of play continues.
WANG-SNOW-GORDON… each one trying to outdo the other to win the Mike Milbury award for Most Impressive Action to Ruin the NY Islander franchise.
Milbury inspires the award with the whole DiPietro fiasco… and years of hard work.
Wang has greenlit more bad moves than the studio that produced the Electric Boogaloo series.
Snow in two years has removed anything that has shown even the smallest sign of success. He’s like the Roundup of hockey. He’s trying to kill weeds, but he has killed everything in the yard. the termination of contimuity over the summer was the last straw… Now you got your guy in place, and THIS… is what we have.
three years away from being a mediocre club.. this franchise doesn’t have THREE YEARS.
Gordon… You could see the beginning of this guy’s end in Jersey when he let everybody down. I bet there is more turmoil in the background than anybody knows… Good coaches can adjust. this team looks unpreared night after night. He may not have a whole lot of talent, but he should be able to compete with the Atlanta’s and Toronto’s of the league. Scott Gordon is lost out there.
maybe.. just maybe… your system SUCKS.
The last two NUMBER ONE DRAFT PICKS are getting KILLED. Okposo is already out because of a slash, and Bailey is getting hammered every night. And Scottina just sighs… oh well… that’s how you lose your team “FLASH”… you’re gonna need a FLASHlight to find them pretty soon.
