ISLANDERS 5, ATLANTA 4
They win, they win the damn thing
9:40 pm - This game will be remembered for Bailey-to-Okposo twice, and for Blake Comeau on that second KO goal making the sort of play his coach is preaching: don’t feel you have to beat the other guys one-on-one. Move the puck forward and make a play.
Mostly good stuff from the kids, but it doesn’t cover up the team-wide breakdowns all over the place in the third period.
The Islanders were up 4-0 after one period. This was not a scene where they were playing in front of a jammed and beer-soaked crowd in Buffalo. This was not November 1, when Uniondale became Montreal for one night. There wasn’t any crowd in Atlanta to spur the Thrashers on. When it was still 4-0 after two periods, there was no momentum to be had.
Especially scary were the pair of golden opportunities the Islanders allowed within two minutes of the Thrashers making it 4-3. No excuse.
14-game road losing streak over. Two wins in a row.

Fascinating email I received during the game. It was from a mother of three grown children named Maria who wrote a letter to Kate Murray expressing lack of progress on the Lighthouse Project. Maria made a point of stating in her letter that she was writing purely as a concerned citizen of Long Island.
“I expressed my concerns to her about another major company leaving Long Island and adding more people to the list of unemployed,” said Maria in her email.
How was Maria treated in the response from Murray’s office? Like an Islanders fan. Maria, mother of three writing positively of all the jobs the Lighthouse Project would bring to the Town of Hempstead, got the same patronizing response the Town is sending people they look down at as Islanders fans.
Wrote Maria: “I don’t think the people at the Town of Hempstead office are doing the work they are paid to do.”
I’ve heard some rumblings about a recent high-level meeting between the Town and project developers. This does not necessarily mean anything good came out of it. Until we hear something solid, there remains every reason to be concerned about the future of the Islanders and the Coliseum property.

First!
Murray needs to be thrown out on her fat arse. She obviously has no interest in serving her constituency. As I’ve said before, generally, I vote a Republican ticket. In the next election I will definitely be making an exception that rule.
I have to agree with Maria, I also wrote to Murray with absolutely no mention of Islanders whatsoever. I just purchased a house in Merrick and want to stay on LI forever and I know how great this project could be for LI. All I got in return was a form letter from her lawyer explaining how the islanders, blah blah blah….for all they know I am a rangers fan!
It would probably be a good idea to make our fellings about the project known here as well:
http://townofhempstead.org/content/home/contact.html
As if by wizardy, the islanders win… and that email hits your mailbox today. The stars are aligned.
Kate Murray is a fat, clueless pig. I hope she eats herself.
i wrote a letter 2 weeks ago, w/o mentioning the isles. i mentioned the affordable housing and how many 20-30 year olds are being driven away from the island.
Have yet to get a response.
It’s really sad that we can’t get an answer either way from the TOH and see if this thing has a chance of going through or not. If there was a hard stand against it then at least we can figure out an alternative plan. Maybe CW and Co. can alter the plan so it can be approved, maybe look for another location to build a new home for the team, or at the worst have the team sold and not know their fate. Being in the dark with the issue is very discouraging.
‘Mostly good stuff from the kids, but it doesn’t cover up the team-wide breakdowns all over the place in the third period’
bizarre game. okposo was the story to me.
again.
this kid can be a force. and the mix of the 4 kids seems to have something there.
we’ll see i guess.
KO is moving into the zone.
But i think the real story tonight is how terrible Atlanta is.
they are definitely not going to let us take the number one pick.
Expect a fight.
I’ve already starting talking myself into hedman.
You’re right, CB. It is absolutely amaizing to see the Isles falling apart almost completely after two periods. Deja vu? And every single goal they scored became “gold important” in the third. Same old BS with penalties and not called ones. I still trying to figure out why Park went to the penalty box after they scored a goal. The explanation from Billy and Jaffe wasn’t enough for me. Maybe someone can clear it for me, please. Thanks for any response.
I saw Kate Murray on the news tonight regarding the town’s attempt to help rid the geese in the area. Perhaps the geese can get rid of her first!
I’m 27 and live in the town of Huntington. I was thinking about my high school class of about 210 from 1999 and only about 20% or so still live on Long Island. Many of my friends and acquaintences have moved off of Long Island because it’s too expensive. Most people that stay either live with their parents or share a place with a significant other or roomates. I wouldn’t be able to afford Long Island without sharing a house with a friend and even that is getting dicey.
Kate Murray and the TOH and all towns on Long Island for that matter need to wake up and see this. I could no way afford to live here without a roomate and most people my age cant.
Congrats to Yani Danis for becoming one of our “Fathers” gang! Wish your little one lots of health.
As for Mrs. Murray, she might be to afraid to commit herself to a such a big decision. I haven’t heard of any big achievements she had her hands on. Plus it’s much easier to seat in the shadow instead of coming out and swing big. She could hit somebody (participants in her election) swinging.
Vlad, since the Isles were shorthanded during that goal and delayed penalty then the man in the penalty box comes out beacuse its a power play goal but the delayed penalty stays in effect. The goal only washes out the current penalty and the delayed penalty still must be served.
Thanks for your explanation, isles316.
My question is: could it have gone the other way if the team receiving the penalty was not Isles?
I honestly believe the TOH, and more importantly, these sorry excuse politicians with a sense of entitlement need to realize that their jobs are in jeopardy.
We honestly need to plan some kind of massive rally and show them we support this project.
And Kyle Okposo saves the day with the GWG in a multigoal game.
(Boy do I hope I get to say that time and time again!)
Vlad: What do you mean if it wasnt the Islanders?
we cannot bother mrs. murray, she is too busy controlling the canadian geese population.

honk honk
Good win tonight.
I’m very sorry to hear that a sincere person was patronized by the Town of Hempstead. I’m still not getting into demonizing them, but this is part of a worrying trend. When I went to a Town Board meeting to discuss my excitement for the project, I was told that the Town needed to make sure that, and I quote, “more people benefit than just 15,000 fans at the Coliseum.”
How about the 50,000 construction jobs? The 20,000 permanent jobs? The people who live in the apartment units? The Town and County themselves for the tax revenue? Please - let us know you care.
I wonder if goose tastes like chicken.
Kate Murray is not going to run for re-election, so she doesn’t care about keeping her job. She’ll seek a higher office, perhaps County Supervisor once Suozzi runs for Governor, or a NY State Government seat. Thusly, complaining to her about anything Islanders related is ineffectual. She’s just collecting a paycheck while repositioning for another job. Politics sucks!!
i also got a patronizing letter back from joe ra after i barely mentioned the isles in my e-mail to murray. i can’t stand these people and their arrogance. anyway, weird game tonight. kyle/josh/blake is one sick line.
that kid line is sicknasty. good for them. unfortunatley for the pointblank fight club, parros got signed for 3 years. good showing tonight though scary in the third
They didn’t deserve to win this. If Peverly hits the open net I bet money they would have lost it in regulation. Good to see Okposo get 2 both from Bailey. That line surprised me with how well they played. No tambellini, no sim, no bergie (strained side still?). Tamby’s days here are numbered im sure
another thing…just like overspeed needs to be adjusted once we get a lead…Charlie Wang needs to back off some of his Lighthouse stuff. Start with the arena which he could probably get without much problem, and go from there. Rome wasn’t built in a day
If Wang starts with the arena then he has no bargaining chip to go after the entire lighthouse and if its never approved his group loses hundreds of millions.
Great game by the kids line, i like that gordon is giving them all a chance. nice to see goals from ALL 4 lines though too. We already knew we are the worst third period team in hockey and atlanta was the worst first period team so the game played out like we should have expected. I have a question though, what are our realistic options with sim and tamby? it seems like they don’t have any trade value and can’t be sent back to bport. do they just rot in the press boxes every night? Any ideas/insight CB?
You can just see Kyle Okposo taking over this team!
KO looked great, only other bright spot is the fourth line. Comrie looked friggin bad. Terrible third, they really didnt deserve the two points.
damn shame that listening to the game as i spread salt on ice roads os brooklyn, i’m torn apart between seeing these kids taking things into their own hands and hoping we lose in the back of my mind… i hope this game doesnt bite us in the buttocks later!!!
is there a website that lists all nhl rookies separate from other players and their stats?
if the lighthouse project doesn’t get approved & the Islanders move, what happens with the land? Wang still would own the bid to develop on the land.
cgs878: goose is a greasy bird. Doesn’t really taste much like chicken. Maybe a bit like turkey.
Nice to see the kids play well but yet another third period collapse worries you. Is the Gordon offense one of these things that can do well for a period but fail to win consistently, like a constant no-huddle in football or the bullpen by committee of 2003?
tom: try espn nhl statistics. they can break it down by rookies
http://sports.espn.go.com/nhl/statistics?stat=nhlscoring&season=2009&seasontype=2&pos=r
NHL.com can do that too.
Okposos PPG ratio is now about 0.5 with more goals than assists. If not for the injury he would have 41 points and over 20 goals in his rookie season with this pace. I’m gonna lay down the jury on him already - KO is the real thing.
I am one of those who is a Gordon supporter, but I have a major league problem with his clock management skills. Where are they? You are in the midst of giving up a lead, a big one, I might add…Call your time out, please? When the other team is calling a time out, call your troops over…draw a play please, try to win the game? I like Gordan’s system a whole hell of a lot, but this is getting riddiculus.
I’ve been reading this blog for awhile and love all ths Isles fans comments…Here are a couple from me…Thanks Chris for such a great Isles forum…..Tim Jackman is playing great..killing penalties scoring toughness..He rocks!!!..Bring up Trevor Smith and play him together with Jackman and Trent Hunter, we need some size….sign Mike Rupp from the Devils at the end of this season….. How come we can’t pass tape to tape anymore….seemed like it was much better earlier in the year….Can’t you play the trap for at least 10 min if you have a 4 goal lead going into the third. Andre St.Laurent, Brent Sutter now Kyle Okposo…go #21. Comrie must be hurt he played a terrible game. Missed the team allot over the past week without a game. Even this bad I like them.
This game once again proved, at least to me, that if we get the first overall pick we need to pick Hedman. Goal scoring is NOT this teams problem. The young guys we have will develop to provide us enough goals. But once again we are blowing big leads and giving up tons and tons of goals. Defense is this teams biggest issue. Hedman Hedman Hedman.
“Mostly good stuff from the kids, but it doesn’t cover up the team-wide breakdowns all over the place in the third period.”
Correct me if I am wrong, but with all the penalties and goals being scored, I don’t remember seeing the “kid line” out there as a whole unit for the 1st 10 minutes of the 3rd.
I don’t care who you are or how ya feel about the Isles dismal season this far, bit that was a BEE-YOOTIFUL thing to watch last night.
FINALLY, Bailey, KO and Comeau on the same line together!!! And look what happened. (Can we get 1st line PP for them now? Why do I have to watch Park and Comrie out there?)
And who did Gordon put on the ice with 6 seconds to go in a 1-goal game with the faceoff in front of Danis?
THE KID LINE…and they came through…highlighted by Comeau diving to block a shot as the buzzer went off.
TAKE THAT SIR WILLIAM!!!
Good news bad news?
At what point (kid line scoring 2-3 goals per game?) do we say “break up the kid line” so as not to blow up the Tavheduch Watch?
Criticism of the Kid Line last night…
(Here’s a bone for Sir William).
In the 1st two periods….Comeau had 3 golden opportunities from the left side where it appeared he kinda flubbed the shots. Looked like his feet were discombobulated as he got ready to shoot (he is more natural on the right side?).
The shots were very Comrie-like..
He DOES have a better shot than what he showed.
Something to watch as we continue with this epiphany?
Okay, with this comment, my 4 comment limit on this entry is now secure (hurry up and get another entry up here CB!!!), but………
Sure KO got 2 goals last night but they were stuff ins…
The passes he got from Bailey were the kind of setups we have NOT seen around here for a LONGGGGGGGG Time.
After the second goal….the 1st thing I said to myself was ….dare I say this so early?……..Trottier to Bossy?
KO Bailey and Comeau….GREAT STUFF..
Kid Line was GREAT!!! ( and I am not counting the early breakdown early in the 3rd )
Baily to KO x 2, somehow I think we will see ALOT of that for the next few years and there ain’t a DAM thing wrong with that!!!
and I’d like to upgrade my 0% chance of going .500 for the final 35 ( now 34 ) to ( and yes this is new math… 21 + 12 + 2 = ) 35%
KO + Baily + Streit = better chance at winning
Let kids run the show and lead us someday to a 1st round playoff win…
Last was a big baby step to our future…
LETS GO ISLANDERS!!!!!
Kyle has a chance to knock in 20 on this pace.
Goal scoring is not this team’s problem??? What planet do you live on? EVERYTHING is this team’s problem. Sure, they can score on crappy defenses like Atlanta’s, but in general, goal scoring IS a problem. Defense IS a problem. Take a bunch of first round picks if you can get ‘em and be a contender in 3 years!
Great stuff as always, CB. I love the quote in the title of this entry, “They win, they win the damn thing!” I know I’ve heard about this quote from an announcer before, but can you please refresh my memory as to who said it and for what game it was? I know this and I’m so disappointed in myself that I can’t remember it right now. For some reason, I’m thinking it was from a Mets game? Or maybe I’m totally off on that. Help! lol
Per Logan’s blog:
“I’m looking more at the other side of it, getting Josh to play with Kyle and Blake and Franzie and Hunts have obviously had a little bit of chemistry when they play together,” Gordon said. “I’m looking at that more than anything else, not so much what Mike and Billy and Dougie are going to do together.”
I definitely appreciate Gordon’s honesty, but I just wonder what Comrie, Guerin and Weight think when they see a comment like that. You can certainly take a quote like that in a negative context. CB, do you have any insight into how Gordon’s relationship is with those three vs. how it was maybe early in the year? Does he engage them frequently or are they becoming outsiders to the kid movment now?
Some responses:
B-ri, #26: I haven’t seen you post on here before, which may mean that you have missed the discussion that has been laid out quite clearly. Wang is not going to just go in and do the Coliseum and give up all his leverage. If he does that and the rest of the Ligthhouse is denied, he is left with an unprofitable lease and a type of arena that is not being developed anywhere in the country anymore: the arena/stadium in a sea of asphalt, cut off from all development, 100% dependent upon the automobile. No, Rome wasn’t built in a day, but you can be damn sure that if Wang is dumb enough to do what you are recommending he do, Rome wouldn’t get built at all.
Isle be damned, #34: I’m not sure of the precise legal procedure, but Wang/Rexcorp would walk away from the project. Presumably this would be permissible under the lease because the project that’s in the lease would be dead as a result of the town’s action, hence it can’t be built. At that point, the county is facing a quandry. It can put out another RFP for a coliseum rebuild, but will not get anyone to bid that, because the arena without a major tenant is a massive money loser. (We’re assuming here that the Islanders would move after the Town kills the Lighthouse). The county can redevelop it itself, which isn’t going to happen, and shouldn’t; there are more important things to do with millions of dollars than guarantee a place to see the Harlem Globetrotters twice a year.
The losses will mount, and presumably at a certain point, the county will just decide to close it, put a fence around the land and either let it sit as a great white elephant or tear it down.
If anybody sees another scenario for the Coliseum after a rejection by the town, I’d like to hear it.
May I suggest a new strategy for the letter writing campaign to the TOH? Begin your letter like this…
“First of all, I would like to point out that I do not follow hockey, and couldn’t care less if the NY Islanders moved to Kansas City tomorrow. So please spare me any patronizing responses blaming the Islanders for the lack of progress in developing the barren wasteland that surrounds the NVMC…”
” Andre St.Laurent, Brent Sutter now Kyle Okposo…go #21. ”
don’t forget arnie brown and butch goring when he first got here.
(and some others, ie. czerkawski )
Newsday ran two letters today on the project, one pro and the other against. I know I’m biased, but the “against” letter was so typical: oh, the traffic! the traffic! It will be terrible! The pro letter was very good.
(Note that the people who talk about the traffic refuse to admit the obvious when doing so: if there’s going to be a lot of traffic, that means it will be a public space that will be desirable enough that people want to be there for a variety of reasons).
Number of areas with robust economies in the US that don’t have a traffic problem: zero.
Areas in the country that don’t have a traffic problem that also have flat on their ass economies: too many to count. Unfortunately, with its declining, aging population and its utter lack of vision in the future, Nassau is on its way toward joining that list.

this is an interesting point. what exactly does wang own? if no deal, what then?
I consider this game a loss, even though the Isles got credit for a win. Sickening.
#55
“Billy, sometimes when you lose you actually win and sometimes when you win you actually lose, and sometimes when you win or lose you actually tie, and sometimes when you tie you actually win or lose. You see winning and losing is one big organic globule, from which one extracts what one needs.”
- Rosie Perez as Gloria Clemente in White Men Cant Jump
Bystander #54 - JayK laid it out pretty clearly. Wang doesn’t own anything except for the right to lease the land from the County in exchange for developing it. I assume as well they would likely walk away from the project and throw our beloved Islanders (as well as the community at large) into jeopardy. I couldn’t imagine what Nassau County would do about another RFP; who would bid on it if this project is killed?
I was also interested in that letter, and it still amazes me. How is it that every letter in support of the project uses facts such as job creation, investment, and moving to a sustainable future, and every negative letter whines about traffic and assumes the only people who want this are Islander fans?
I wish the people at the TOH actually showed up to the environmental review hearings (they were conducted by consultants hired by the TOH, and I didn’t see any board members. Please, someone, correct me if I’m wrong here). As I’ve said before, Mike Bossy got up to say something and half the room couldn’t figure out why the other half was so excited.
What a great first period. But the third period leads me to believe that this team is only as good as its opponents’ effort.
It doesn’t take away from the light at the end of the tunnel the KO-JB-BC line seems to be. The tremendous season that Steit is having, or the fun I’m having imagining a REAL #1 overall pick on this team.
The thing that stood out for me is that they were getting CRUSHED, and Pock only had 10 mins… To me, those are the two biggest factors to a third period collapse. They definitely need to get bigger this summer, and more talented on the back line. (Hedman is a step in the right direction for both if we happen to lose the lottery… so that’s not so bad).
Park punching Valabik(?), Snow shuld have that guy on his radar… Park is my favorite Isle right now, but that was just funny. The look of apathy in Valabik’s eye’s said it all…
Even with a 4-0 lead the team lacked PRESENCE…
But that first period was damn fun to watch!
PS: I don’t think Jackman is signed(RFA) Two more years at $700k (He’s at $600k now) should be coming in the near future. Along with extensions for Hillen (RFA)and Comeau (RFA). Comeau has shown that he deserves a chance to grow with the team, and if no significant moves are made on “D” Hillen should replace Pock, Gervais or Campoli on the third pair)
All’s I’m going to say, CB, is I absolutely love the Bob Murphy reference. I was certain someone would have mentioned it by now.
How anyone can consider a win a loss for a team that has a resounding 13 all season, is beyond my realm of thought.
Even though winning might come back to haunt us come season’s end, you can’t blow a four goal lead. Period. So, this was a good win. Another great game by Okposo.
Martinek and Witt looked horrible last night. How many times did Martinek shy away from contact. I’ve seen girls play a more physical game.
No one is going to give up much for Witt. His gaps are terrible because he can’t skate.
potvin05 - that’s it!! thank you haha…I mentioned it in post # 48 because I thought it was a Mets announcer who said it and for the life of me I just could not remember where it came from. Thanks for refreshing my memory…

By that exact same logic, if the Isles had scored the two they rang off the post and the two wide open nets that they missed, they would have won, they would have blown them away scoring 9 goals. It is the exact same logic!!! You cant apply it one way and then not apply it the other way.

“Horrible”? No. Martinek saved the game for the team by blocking the tying goal- remember? Radek looked good, I dont know what you were watching to think that he didnt. Witter got some good hits in too. Was it their best games ever? No- but they certainly did not lpook “horrible.”
I just emailed Kate Murray ta the link listed above….we should get ranger and devil fans to help out and flood her email bin
Sorry, I somehow missed your post. One of the best calls, from one of the best ever….RIP Murph.
Chris; You and I couldn’t disagree more about this. Martinek was completely outclassed and turned around on Kovalchuk’s wrap around goal. He didn’t stay with him, nor did he use his body to separate him from the puck. He looks like he is afraid to be physical because he does not want to get hurt. Three times going into the corners he backed off from engaging his man.
Yeah Witt can hit if he can line up his man. Other than that he gets beat all over the ice. Reminds me of Sean Hill. He and Martinek were -1 in a winning effort while Streit and Gervais were +2 and +3. Witt is a whopping -28 for the season. This stat is very telling of Witt’s ability to play defense in today’s NHL.
“I’ve seen girls play a more physical game.”
I went to a hockey camp once when I was younger and this kid was giving all of the girls there a hard time all week…on the last day of camp, during the scrimmage in front of all the parents, one of the girls on defense smashed the kid with a clean check, knocking him out cold. His parents had to peel him off the ice. Jbranny’s comment just reminded me of that.
505, Nice play by Comeau on the last goal. Instead of holding the puck he dumped it in and forced the d man to let him go or take an interference penalty. Smart play. I do not think he would have done this a month ago, so it shows progress. Gotts give credit where it’s due….SW
Kid line looked great, especially in the 1st. There’s obviously more of that to come. Also pretty clear that Okposo has started on his way toward becoming a dominant player in this league, regardless of who’s centering him. The fact that we can now look forward to him playing and growing with a kid like Bailey just makes it even more fun to watch.
Any of you who are saying that the Isles didn’t “deserve” that win last night, just on the basis of one lousy period, simply don’t get it. That one lousy period, while entirely too predictable, should not overshadow the completely dominant 1st period our boys played. Considering they were clearly the better team for two of the three periods, I would say they damn well “deserved” the win, regardless of how ugly it looked at the end.
And for those worrying about numbers now that so many have come off the injured list: relax. Two things that don’t make numbers a real problem. First is that, regardless who’s just come back from injury you can be sure someone else will be going out due to injury soon enough. It’s just what happens with this team. Second, the trade deadline is coming. Someone is going to have to step into the lineup to replace each guy who ends up getting traded. Sorry Tambellini haters, but that means you haven’t seen the last of him as a full time player.
Funny how nobody was complaining about Witt’s inability to play defense in “today’s” NHL last year…or the year before.
Watch any pairing on the Isles when they are pressed in their defensive zone, they do not have a plan, and for the most part look lost.
If they cannot sustain offensive zone pressure they are hosed. Even in winning efforts they go 7-12 minutes without a shot, spending most of that time chasing the puck. PLEASE don’t blame that on the one “shut down” D we’ve had on the team in the past 20 years.
Yeah, he looks lost sometimes, but sometimes it’s the compass. I bet there are at least 3 teams in the league willing to part with some value to have him on the roster come playoff time. If Snow isn’t going to change coaches, then I sure do hope he gets the value.
As far as Marty… considering the fire drill style of defense, he’s looked fine, and remains a bargain. It would be ridiculous to get rid of him… this is the thinnest “D” in the NHL..and AHL.
this team will only get better if they get better on “D” and Morrow moves behind the bench full time.
What is Dave Lewis doing these days?
martinek was just plain terrible…refused to get his nose dirty and witt looks like a red flag on a slalom course
JP - agree 100% with your comments regarding Witt and Marty. But I think, when healthy, the personnel we have on D is not the worst. It just needs that one true #1. The plan on D needs work, imo.
I agree the D corps as a whole needs better coaching. Hopefully the current D coaches will become casualties from this terrible season. I’d like to see Snow bring Cappy up and put him behind the blueliners.
I haven’t had a chance to watch last night’s game on Tivo yet … But I did find out the results at the rink last night … however, after readind these comments I have mixed feelings… Happy to see the KO, JB & BC line click … bummed about beating the wrong team … and not impressed at all with giving up 3 third period goals to a team who might actually end up worse than the Isles when all is said and done. I want to see the Isles beat teams like Boston and Detroit.
I want to also remind everyone … that defense is a TEAM responsibility … focusing on the guys who actually play the defensive position isn’t 100% fair. Break downs like that are usually a shared responsibility … I’ll hold out my judgement until I actually watch the game … at 2X speed for the most part … LOL!
“…at 2X speed for the most part … LOL!”
Hunter will appreciate that, haha.
JP pretty much sums it up my thoughts when it comes to the D …
and … “#73 jbranny on Jan 30th, 2009 12:00:20 said:

I’d love to keep Cappy right where he is … if Gordo is staying on we need a coach at B-Port that can prepare the players for Go-Go … I think the Isles NEED an EXPERIENCED NHL former defenseman behind the bench … how the Isles are going the whole season without a coach for defenseman is beyond me …. maybe Witter in the future … but I think on the right team Witter has some years left in the tank… maybe the Isles will be that right team in a couple of years… who knows?
Good point 19 Isle, but I think the team would benefit more from Cappy being on Gordo’s bench. They can find a quality guy to take his place in Bridgie.
To poster # 77 - How about Sillinger coaching the Bridge?
Silly’s a great guy, but there is a lot more to coaching than that. They would probably find a guy who’s had top level coaching experience before choosing Silly. Silly might make a good forwards coach.
Good title, Chris. Bob Murphy is missed.
