Silly's a great guy, but there is a lot more to coaching than that. They would probably find a guy who's had top level coaching experience before choosing Silly. Silly might make a good forwards coach.

Good point 19 Isle, but I think the team would benefit more from Cappy being on Gordo's bench. They can find a quality guy to take his place in Bridgie.

JP pretty much sums it up my thoughts when it comes to the D ...

I agree the D corps as a whole needs better coaching. Hopefully the current D coaches will become casualties from this terrible season. I’d like to see Snow bring Cappy up and put him behind the blueliners."

I'd love to keep Cappy right where he is ... if Gordo is staying on we need a coach at B-Port that can prepare the players for Go-Go ... I think the Isles NEED an EXPERIENCED NHL former defenseman behind the bench ... how the Isles are going the whole season without a coach for defenseman is beyond me .... maybe Witter in the future ... but I think on the right team Witter has some years left in the tank... maybe the Isles will be that right team in a couple of years... who knows?

I haven't had a chance to watch last night's game on Tivo yet ... But I did find out the results at the rink last night ... however, after readind these comments I have mixed feelings... Happy to see the KO, JB & BC line click ... bummed about beating the wrong team ... and not impressed at all with giving up 3 third period goals to a team who might actually end up worse than the Isles when all is said and done. I want to see the Isles beat teams like Boston and Detroit.

I want to also remind everyone ... that defense is a TEAM responsibility ... focusing on the guys who actually play the defensive position isn't 100% fair. Break downs like that are usually a shared responsibility ... I'll hold out my judgement until I actually watch the game ... at 2X speed for the most part ... LOL!

JP - agree 100% with your comments regarding Witt and Marty. But I think, when healthy, the personnel we have on D is not the worst. It just needs that one true #1. The plan on D needs work, imo.

Funny how nobody was complaining about Witt's inability to play defense in "today's" NHL last year...or the year before.
Watch any pairing on the Isles when they are pressed in their defensive zone, they do not have a plan, and for the most part look lost.
If they cannot sustain offensive zone pressure they are hosed. Even in winning efforts they go 7-12 minutes without a shot, spending most of that time chasing the puck. PLEASE don't blame that on the one "shut down" D we've had on the team in the past 20 years.
Yeah, he looks lost sometimes, but sometimes it's the compass. I bet there are at least 3 teams in the league willing to part with some value to have him on the roster come playoff time. If Snow isn't going to change coaches, then I sure do hope he gets the value.
As far as Marty... considering the fire drill style of defense, he's looked fine, and remains a bargain. It would be ridiculous to get rid of him... this is the thinnest "D" in the NHL..and AHL.
this team will only get better if they get better on "D" and Morrow moves behind the bench full time.
What is Dave Lewis doing these days?

Kid line looked great, especially in the 1st. There's obviously more of that to come. Also pretty clear that Okposo has started on his way toward becoming a dominant player in this league, regardless of who's centering him. The fact that we can now look forward to him playing and growing with a kid like Bailey just makes it even more fun to watch.

Any of you who are saying that the Isles didn't "deserve" that win last night, just on the basis of one lousy period, simply don't get it. That one lousy period, while entirely too predictable, should not overshadow the completely dominant 1st period our boys played. Considering they were clearly the better team for two of the three periods, I would say they damn well "deserved" the win, regardless of how ugly it looked at the end.

And for those worrying about numbers now that so many have come off the injured list: relax. Two things that don't make numbers a real problem. First is that, regardless who's just come back from injury you can be sure someone else will be going out due to injury soon enough. It's just what happens with this team. Second, the trade deadline is coming. Someone is going to have to step into the lineup to replace each guy who ends up getting traded. Sorry Tambellini haters, but that means you haven't seen the last of him as a full time player.
