MEDIA ALERT: 1050 ESPN RADIO AT 1:00 pm
More Islanders/Kansas City talk

by admin on January 24th, 2009 at 12:40 pm

When “New York Hockey This Week” begins at 1:00 pm, expect an Islanders rant at the top from substitute co-host Bob Galerstein. Bob is a native Long Islander, loves his hockey and was even the longtime PA announcer at Madison Square Garden.

Bob tells me he has a lot on his mind about the Islanders and a potential move. I might not even get a word in, but that’s okay. We’re taking your calls between 1 and 2 pm at 1.800.919.3776. Don La Greca joins us from Montreal in the second half of the show…CB

  4. avatar Nick Classic says:

Wow, this guy refuses to listen…”Just the Arena” works in Newark and Pittsburgh because THEY PUT UP PUBLIC MONEY FOR THE ARENA. Here we have a choke-hold of a lease and a government that won’t spend a dime on the arena itself. The only way to make money on the concept is to develop the land around it and use the Coliseum as a loss-leader.

Come on CB, see through that!

  5. avatar JayK says:

Nick, you’re doing fine on your own!

  6. avatar 19 ISLE in NJ 22 says:

    You go Nick!!!

  7. avatar doc says:

Nick: who are you talking about when you say this guy refuses to listen???

    I’m confused…

    DOC

  8. avatar Nick Classic says:

It was earlier in the show, nevermind that point. And JayK, is that you now on?

  9. avatar Nick Classic says:

I’m glad Bob is talking about all the compromises Nassau County made when they first built the Coliseum.

  10. avatar JayK says:

    yeah, that was me

  11. avatar 19 ISLE in NJ 22 says:

Great Job guys!! Seems the general sports community needs to be educated in the details of the Light House Project… My question? Isn’t it the job of journalists and media folks to understand the topic they are covering? It makes you wonder what other topics … sports, politics, finance and general information you are getting misinformation about.

  12. avatar Coach B says:

    Great show Chris!

  13. avatar TonyDaTiger says:

That was INCARCERATED BOB …From the Boomer&Carton show
That guy is hilarious on there show in the morning

  14. avatar mw147 says:

Wow, Galerstein just said he is convinced because the project is being funded privately and not by tax $

  15. avatar Benny says:

Bob from Hoboken is from the Boomer show on WFAN , That guy know his stuff

  16. avatar JayK says:

In defense of Bob: I’m sure he knows his stuff. But he had to play Devil’s Advocate to keep the show moving and not sound like a Lighthouse ad.

  17. avatar Kevin Fitz says:

is this interview/show going to be online somewhere afterwards so i can listen to it? don’t live in the area and i would love to hear what was said.

  18. avatar JOE RVC says:

chris im glad you cleared up the confusion people have about who pays for the lighthouse.THE TAX PAYERS DO NOT PAY!!!! great show botta

  19. avatar Brian from Massapequa says:

Kevin – I don’t think they replay the shows they are usually available live on the WEPN website. I missed the show today myself.

  20. avatar 7thWoman says:

Can you PLEASE get these things podcasted for the listening disabled, as in I didn’t know and was no where near a radio at 1 pm!!! This is very frustrating.

  21. avatar NickIsles From Brooklyn says:

can anyone put a transcript up or something?

  22. avatar kevin says:

anyone going to watch streit in the skills competition? i like the allstar game and competition but think that thye should get rid of fan bolloting. its dumb. just look at the canadiens team. anyway, who do you think will win? my best bet would be either souray or chara. streit may give them a run for there money ( or mine) habs fans say that komi is going to get wrecked. i guess we’ll see. ovie said he is going to do somehting awsome for the breakaway challenge. i hope so. patrik kane has been practising this sick move. youll see

  23. avatar Chris TMC says:

Im voting with 7thW on this, it would be great if these were available!

  24. avatar Pat says:

I listened in.. People made some nice points, sort of like preaching to the choir in some respects, but getting attention for the Isles and for the Lighthouse on ESPN Radio is a nice achievement.

Chris B.mentioned about those steps in front of the building were supposed to be for a rail project that Eugene Nickerson’s administration canceled – a link between Westbury station and NVMC. I never knew that…..some bad 1971 decisions really hurt the project now.

I think that we need to find a way to galvanize and make our voices heard.

NIce job by Chris and Bob.

    Pat

  25. avatar MiKe says:

would love to listen to this broadcast somehow…

  26. avatar Willis says:

  27. avatar Jim Clark says:

  28. avatar kevin says:
