Perhaps some of the venom some of you continue to post at every possible opportunity - regardless the actual subject of CB's blog entries - might be a little easier to digest if you actually got your facts straight. Believe it or not, attending to that minor detail really does allow you to be taken more seriously.

Case in point, "Aim", nice try on the whole "Snow's college buddy" thing. Gordon, BC '86. Snow, Maine '93. So close, though. Not that you really care who "Snow's college buddy" was, because the answer won't support your little rant, but just look a little lower on the coaching directory for the name Mike Dunham.

I agree 100% with CB on this one, if Joey Mac is only going to be out for a short while ( we hope ) keep Danis & call up a Bridgeport goalie. I loved what Dubie has done for us, but if we are going to give the kids a chance to grow & learn NOW is the time & having a top 2 pick in this years draft is an added bonus.

Brian #27 you have to understand Go Go is Garth Snow's college buddy. They go way back. The Islanders did not hire the best coach available they hired snowey's buddy that will not give any resistance. Neil Smith and Ted Nolan both had opinioins and were shown the door.......JOEL QUENVILLE would not interview here saying he needed to take a year away!!!!! 2 weeks into the season he takes the Chicago job. Cant blame the worn down NVMC for that one!!! The truth is that QUALITY hockey people do not want to come here and be a puppet in this dog and pony show plain and simple. That is so obvious. Go Go works for very little money, is snoweys bud, and does not have an opinion on anything other then what he is told. PERFECT ISLANDER

#36 you are right on.

It becomes that much harder for young players to develop when you give up 5 goals a night which happens a lot as it is.

The team in general might be a year behind in that regard given all the big leads and awful third periods they have had.

I know we all want that #1 pick but holding some late leads will help this team come next season.

Not having a reliable goalie is demoralizing for a team. Other players start to overcompensate, trying to make saves for the goalie because they don't trust him to handle any shots. This leads to undisciplined play, the system breaks down and you lose structure with everyone constantly playing catch-up to the system and failing. The players become even more demoralized, start to doubt their teammates, their coach; trust is lost. Gordon's system is energetic and proactive, so players drifting away from the plan and overcompansating for the goalie would result in chaos.

My point is that letting a team sink with an unreliable goalie can easily have a negative knock-on effect on the future as well. It is very hard to get out of the rut once you're there, it becomes self-perpetuating, a culture, "epic fail" as they say on the internetz. Never let a team deteriorate. There is a difference between descending sharply and dropping like a lead balloon.

Fornabaio of the CT post wrote last night that Capuano hasn't heard anything from the Isles on a possible call up. Mannino has lost 8 of his last 11 games, so it's not like he's exactly earning the call up. The Isles would have to sign Lawson to call him up.

I think Sanford either cleared or not at 9:00 am today, so we should know soon.

I say we should just go with an empty net and work on the power play for the rest of the year.

OK, so let's get Dubie back already! At least his nickname has 2 syllables and is short enough to be used with the same "chant" after a big save (D-P, Jo-ey, Du-bie). The organist won't even have to change his style.

Maybe Tavares is faking an injury just so he doesnt have to come here? JK...What about throwing Witter in net, this way he can get hit with pucks all game just like the system from the past two years. In all honesty, I would love to see Dubie again, he was a true underdog hero for this team. I think signing him would be good to get a few extra butts back in the stands at NVMC. The place is like listening to crickets on a cold night, few and far between.
