BUFFALO at ISLANDERS, 7:05 pm
Talk about the game here

by admin on February 28th, 2009 at 5:47 pm

Word from Chris King of Islanders Radio is that Yann Danis is getting the start and Andrew MacDonald will make his NHL debut alongside Joe Callahan. Talk about the game here, and if time allows I’ll pop in once or twice a period…CB

Chris, know anything about the Islanders having scouts at this afternoon’s Washington-Boston game ?

  2. avatar Chickendirt says:

    Should be fun tonight.

I think we in for a very exciting next three or four days as well. Read a Yahoo Sports article declaring this deadline a sellers market. Only five teams really looking get rid of players to playoff teams.

Should be good. Wonder if we get more than the actual worth for a few guys.

Game tonight should be interesting. More kids getting some ice time.

  3. avatar Chris A says:

If that’s true I assume a Guerin trade would seem a lot more likely.

  4. avatar 2277 says:

I’ll be there tonight, hoping for a good game and not the blow out I saw early in the season vs. Buffalo. We should have scouts at every game!

CB I would like to first off thank you for your site, being a life long Islanders fan Living in Montreal it’s hard to get info on the Isles. The Isles are thought of as a joke up here, which is quite ironic since Habs fans don’t research anything else besides there beloved team. I have lived here all my life and it is quite funny that this is considered the mecca of hockey. Don’t get me wrong they love the habs, but they don’t follow hockey as a sport just as it concerns the team.
I know this thread is for the game. But please as an onlooker looking in to the lighthouse project, and how it will create such a stimulus to the nassau county area. Why the delay? The Expos were taken from us because their was no one to pay for a new Stade Olympique. If Charles Wang owned the Expos, he would be considered a hero for this kind of development. Traffic is a fact of life, and i go to Long Island every year for a game so please Kate Murray give me a break. Let’s sit in traffic if we can create thousands of jobs. I understand politics and posturing but this is ridiculous. And what get’s me is this isn’t about the Isles, it’s about the county and a better way of life. That’s enough ranting for now. Keep up the good work.

The last Buffalo game that I watched was vs. Anaheim, and it was B-O-R-I-N-G. The Sabres are NOT playing good hockey this month. This should be a great opportunity to get 2 points at home. Danis has looked solid this month as well. Wait, this is a bad thing. We don’t need the points, Buffalo does.

  7. avatar Chris TMC says:

Good, it will be interesting to see how Andrew MacDonald does.

BTW Great commentary (5). Jon, you should write to the county and let them know how you feel and how things look from your perspective- it cant hurt and can only help! :)

  8. avatar Madchef says:

Thanks CB your column is the best. Of all my favorite sports teams this is easily the best source for info of all of them. I hope Macdonald can show some stuff in the next few games. Not as much as I hope the Isles trade for a few prospects and not just draft picks.

  9. avatar TIM says:

My girlfriend is first cousins with Andrew Macdonald there all very excited about tonight,he says’s he’s nervous but very excited and ready to play tonight GOOD LUCK ANDREW MACDONALD

  10. avatar 318-J-1 says:

just about to walk in, hope
A-Mac has a good game tonight, Danis has been doing great lately it will be interesting to see who is D.P’s backup next year

  11. avatar stumpy32 says:

Boorgard just got 5 games for an “intentional” elbow to the head of a flames player. Kind of funny that Witt got the same amount for “unintentionally” elbowing the leafs players.

And Cambelll says he has nothing against the islanders…pfff!!! What a joke.

  12. avatar Jim says:

Congrats to Andrew MacDonald on the call up. This time last year he was in the ECHL with Utah.

  13. avatar Mike from Queens says:

Open speculation by Billy and Howie about Guerin possibly being already traded. Interesting… CB has to have some word on this.

  14. avatar big jim says:

    where is billy guerin????

  15. avatar Giaco says:

Bill Guerin not on ice… possibly hurt or traded… as per Howie Rose

  16. avatar Otter says:

Why would he have been asked to waive his NMC unless there was a potential deal that was seriously being considered?

  17. avatar dhasy22 from virginia beach says:

looks like guerin has been traded,
    boston, devils, rags????
    others???
hopefully for someone who can play now as well as a pick!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  18. avatar Chickendirt says:

Maybe boston or Washington if what someone mentioned about our scouts being at those games is true.

Anyone know if they had any young kids on ice?

I mentioned last night I had a feeling Guerin wouldn’t play in this one.

  19. avatar MT says:

Derek Morris of the Coyotes is sitting out his games before the trade deadline. But why would Billy dress if he wasn’t going to play? Unless the trade went down in between warmups and the puck drop?

  20. avatar Jim says:

It’s possible that Snow got an offer he’s considering and decided to pull Guerin off after warm ups so he doesn’t get injured.

  21. avatar walter says:

MT they might have pulled him out because they are worried about him getting hurt

  22. avatar dally mac says:

I hope it was to Washington for Karl Alzner….be nice.

  23. avatar avolp55TURGEONFICHAUD says:

Can’t wait to see what’s up with Guerin. If it’s anything like the first 60 games of the year, hes probably out 4-6 weeks with something. But hopefully we’ve traded him and got something nice in return. What would everyone be happy with? Personally, I would expect nothing less than a prospect and a first rd pick. Hopefully we can get that, that would be nice. Exciting nonetheless! Jackman should have buried that chance IMO. Lets go Isles!

  24. avatar Jim says:

    Bergenheim is on fire.

  25. avatar Cruicky says:

Sim is really playing much better. The knee has been a big injury to recover from. Looks like he is gaining confidence.
