d-man it’s about value not whose pick they traded.i would think looking at their resprctive bodies of work witt would have FAR more value to a team either in the playoffs or trying to get in.my contention is, is witt’s contract what hurts his value in comparison to campoli?

news flash whether you want to hear it or not. I play on a team with a player that works at the syosset pro-shop(nameless as am I) he is informing us to brace ourselves that the Isles are looking at Hedman not Tavares with teh 1st pick. This is no joke. The last time I posted info about the team was 3 months ago that the Isles are moving to KC or Ontario. How did that work out?

Love the trade… and please all you guys who say the 29-30 pick doesnt mean anything… YEAH IT DOES. a first round pick is a first round pick. “oh its pretty much a high 2nd round pick.” if we got a high 2nd round pick for this trade everyone would be saying “its a late first rounder!!”

I would keep an eye on the Penguins and their first pick which is currently 11. They might be willing to make a deal to get possibly a Witt or Guerin plus our other 1st round pick. They need to make the playoffs. A trade like that brings back probably a player and another probable top 15 pick!

At first didnt like the trade. But gives a chance for Isles to see what Hillen can do, and until Sutton or Meyer come back can look at Callahan also. Also really want to see them get Gilroy, and this helps create some space for him. As for the pick, maybe if Guerin is willing to move, Him combined with a 2nd or 3rd rounder for next year can turn into whatever team he is dealt to for a 1st rounder next year???? if not, atleast we get another high pick for this upcoming draft.

Great trade by Garth. Anytime you are going through a rebuild, this is how you do it. At last years draft, 1st round picks were being traded for Tanguay and Cammalleri. The Isles got one for Campoli. Sorry, but you can’t compare.
I’ve met Campoli myself at a stag in Toronto last summer, and had about an hours talk with him. As CB stated, Chris does the extras off the ice, but from my conversation, he thought he was the next Lidstom. I hate to talk about people that way, but I walked away from the conversation just shaking my head at how he could talk this way. One interesting thing he did say was that he was very grateful to Milbury for getting to where he was.
Finally, anyone thing they trade this pick and maybe one of the second rounders for a young roster player next year?

Chicken, you gotta stop harping on it, man. This pick can be anybody. Right now, my opinion only, I would pick anybody over Campoli, the upside with any pick in the top 50 is better than his. But, who knows? I could be wrong. One of my favorite players of all-time is Wayne Chrebet, and the guy never was drafted.
