  1. avatar BringtheReign says:

    Who can tank it?

  2. avatar Strummer's Army says:

Will there be room enough for all the scouts in the box tonight with two of the only sellers meeting tonight? Please include the scouts in attendance tonight

  3. avatar Jason says:

    We need Bailey to score

  4. avatar Jason says:

And everyone else for that matter

  5. avatar BringtheReign says:

yea Comeau also, i cant recall the last time he scored

  6. avatar guerin13 says:

this game is going to set a world record for most amount of scouts in one place at one time.

  7. avatar Lance79 says:

Given that all that’s left of the season is the TavHeDuch watch, how about some expectations for the young players in terms of point production over the final 22 barring injury?

I would say that for Hillen, Bailey, Okposo, Nielsen, Bergenheim and Comeau I’d be very happy with 10 points from each, especially given increased ice time from trades/injuries. What about expectations for others on the team?

  8. avatar TimQ says:

Bailey’s got to pick up his game. He’s made some pretty poor choices and looked lost the last few games

    Looking forward to seeing Schenn

  9. avatar jimmy says:

i would trade comeau with one of the vets to get something better.. comeau witt guerin even weight all should be traded.. if we are rebuilding the right way it makes sense.. get those picks or prospects!!!!!

  10. avatar jimmy says:

how about getting clemmenson for the late first rounder we have?? that would be a great move just in case you know what!

  11. avatar Walygz says:

Relegated to non-HD yet again…boooo Cablevision. Even gave me the false hope by listing the game on MSG+ rather than +2.

Lets show something tonight fellas !

  12. avatar jimmy says:

come on man its brodeurs return we deserve it tonight!!

  13. avatar JimintheUK says:

Looking forward to tonights game and really looking forward to March 4th. I say the kids line really starts to shine after all the vets have been traded.

  14. avatar David Lee says:

    Bring back MM

  15. avatar Walygz says:

I hear you Jimmy, but the Isles ALWAYS get the non-HD broadcast when all three teams are in action.

Should have given it to the winner of the head-to-head matchup on Saturday ;)

  16. avatar JPinVA says:

Wow… we are fans of a team that will most likely have $30M on the books on July 1st. The cap should be around $55M. Most of fans here are trying to ice what amounts to a second/third place AHL team.
I wonder how the season ticket holders feel about that.
You people are nuts. If you can’t sign THE BEST UFA’s available who’s going to replace guys like Witt and Marty. Dustin Kohn? Katic?
Where is all of that money going to go… they have $30M with those guys. they will be $15M under the FLOOR if they dump any more salary. considering nobody wants to play for this circus they should be able to give Komi $20M a year.

  17. avatar Terry says:

Would it kill them to put the plus2 on HD? Cablevision sucks. If they didn’t hold the broadcast rights hostage (I know, I know, $20 mil a year for the team) I would never send them a dime again. $0.75 for Newsday…greedy bastards.

  18. avatar eye on the island says:

yea it sucks we get screwed on the hd thing but the question is, how does cablevision not have another hd channel for times when all three local teams are playing??

  19. avatar admin says:

I’ve said since the begining of the season when I started posting Scouts in Attendance that there is rarely any rhyme or reason to it. Here’s your proof, Strummer:

Toronto at Islanders – 2 sellers.

    Tonight’s scouts: Montreal, Chicago.

Kelly Kelly from the WWF is also here. Pictures later…CB

  20. avatar Pat says:

More than anything else this team needs somebody, anyone please to put the puck in the net.

  21. avatar CT Isles Fan says:

Kelly Kelly, so hot they named her twice.

  22. avatar christian says:

wow im not sure which islanders team showed up tonight they have moments they look and moments when they look sloppy

  23. avatar Kevin Fitz says:

just checked out a couple of pictures of kelly kelly. had no idea who she was…………… NOT UGLY!!!

  24. KO is our best defensemen tonight. :)

  25. avatar 4195mary says:

Hey CB, the leafs are in sort of the same boat as the Isles( getting younger, purging vets,etc.). They went with a proven NHL coach. We went the other direction. They went with a stanley cup winning GM. We went the other direction. Could be interesting to compare results in 3-5 yrs or so.

  26. avatar dally mac says:

Watching the game on Sportnet Ontario, and they said up until March 4th the trade deadline, Bailey can still go back to Junior….ie ..Windsor. They are the number one team in the country still, followed closely by the London Knights, the new home of John Tavares. I wouldn’t flip my lid, if the Islanders decided to send him back. Especially if they make very few trades and keep Wieght and Guerin. I say hell why not then? Get him more ice time and allow him to win the hardest championship in hockey, the Memorial Cup.

  27. avatar isles316 says:

Toronto is faster than I thought. No wonder why they dropped out of the Tevaduch race.

  28. avatar Carmine says:

They wouldn’t send Bailey to play at the WJC why would they send him now?

  29. avatar Steve-O says:

Chris, the Isles have until Mar. 4 to send Bailey back to junior. His team, Windor is ranked #1 in the country and poised to make a Memorial Cup run. Is there any talk of this? I can only see this as a benefit to him, and thus the isles.

  30. avatar ed says:

See that Montreal may have a few players asking for trades. Not Higgins which is what most of us want, but it seems like there are a few disgruntled players up there so hopefully we can steal someone. I would like Higgins and Laraque. McDonald seemed shaky the first few minutes tonight, but now seems to have settled down. Islanders need to get a little physical as it seems like it is dead on the bench. Pick it up boys!

  31. avatar isles316 says:

    2 bad ones from MacDonald.

  32. avatar eye on the island says:

can we stop bashing mac please, he’s obviously the path of least resistance to tavares

  33. avatar Strummer's Army says:

I’ll be looking forward to the pictures! :)

CB, look into your crystal ball and tell us what the Islanders look at when they take the ice the day after the deadline.

Don’t you feel the Isles should hire Marissa Miller to take CJ Papa’s job? She could even take Butch Goring and Stan Fischler’s air time. I’m just saying if they really wanna boost ratings and ease the pain of the rebuild.

  34. avatar Bri on Li says:

Who is going to teach Bergie how to shoot? Or better yet how to score? The guy is all over the place, but can’t put the biscuit in the basket…

  35. avatar Walygz says:

Bergenheim gets a quasi breakaway every game..you would think he would have developed a move by now.

  36. avatar CT Isles Fan says:

If only you could combine Bergy’s scoring chances with Tamby’s shot

  37. avatar admin says:

    (29) Hi Steve-O. I addressed that during the game last night.

    (33) They’ll be minus 2, maybe 3 guys playing tonight. More later…CB

  38. avatar Eye on the island says:

big teaser from cb- my browser will now overload

  39. avatar CT Isles Fan says:

I would’ve rather had “Dean-o” all season over Comrie. Glad we got rid of Mr. Softee.

  40. avatar Isles78 says:

Dean McAmmond is increasing his trade value lol.

  41. avatar Walygz says:

KO wants a piece ! I love this kid !!!!

  42. avatar admin says:

That goal was mostly Jon Sim, continually getting to the net. Jon’s playing like someone who wants to be acquired…CB

  43. avatar isles316 says:

    Is that another teaser?

  44. avatar Isles78 says:

“That goal was mostly Jon Sim, continually getting to the net. Jon’s playing like someone who wants to be acquired…CB”

True CB he did a nice job screening on that goal, when he plays like that he has value. For the most part Sim hasn’t been as pesky in front of the net this year.

  45. avatar Isles78 says:

CB, have you heard any rumors floating around about Montreal being interested in Guerin?

  46. avatar Cruicky says:

Sim would be a good fit in Mini.

  47. avatar Strummer's Army says:

    I heard Montreal likes Witt.

I could see Witt or Guerin going to Chi for a package starting with Byfugelen.

  48. avatar MileHighIsle says:

Once again, we are put through another season of watching guys who can’t score and never will and can’t punch and never will. A bunch of average to below average players who play scared. Makes for exciting hockey. And next year, if healthy, we’ll be forced to have DP for our goalie…way overrated average goalie. But wait, Tavares might be coming and he’s going to make everybody better and make us a playoff team. Doubt it.
Sorry for that…I’m a big fan from the late 70′s and was thinking about the 1978 series vs Toronto. Broke my heart but I loved that team. Just tired of watching this kind of hockey.

  49. 4195mary (25): I agree, it will be interesting to compare records of Tor/NYI rebuilds in 3-5 years. But Tor had to go with an experienced coach, considering the sharply different markets– er, media coverage of the teams, at least.

If Gordon thought Islanders press conferences were big attention, man … imagine him in Toronto.

  50. avatar ISLESFAN999 says:

CB – Can a player be traded in the middle of a game? Im not sure I ever heard of this I was just curious.

  51. avatar Bob Bassen says:

Watching the Bruins game too. What a team! A template for the Isles. Nice mix of home grown and aquisitions. They can skate, score, play great positionally and are tough top to bottom. Pretty classy too. Hate to say it but it all starts with Chara. Too bad we didn’t sign him away from Ottawa before the Bruins.
    Woulda, Coulda, Shoulda.
    Oh well.

  52. avatar Nick Classic says:

Here comes a suspension for Witt.

  53. avatar admin says:

    (50) A deal might be agreed to between the teams, but then a conference call between the hockey ops depts of the two teams has to happen and the player has to be told. I’m sure it’s happened in the past, but then wasn’t announced until after the game was over and the player was told.

    Official attendance: 12,201.

Witt elbows Hagman silly. If the suspension is more than two games, Brendan’s new team has to absorb it. j/k…CB

  54. avatar AM says:

I’m now expecting Campbell to give Witt more games then Mottau.

  55. avatar redbull says:

CB, if you were “given” a GM job, with the mandate to build a cup team, would you rather have Garth Snow’s job or Brian Burke’s job.

We’ll assume the budgets are the same and assume the Lighthouse is a go.

Which franchise would you say has a better chance to help you succeed?

  56. avatar Nick Classic says:

And FINALLY Bergy makes a good move on a breakaway! Nice shot.

  57. avatar MT says:

    Atta boy Bergie!

  58. avatar teddyfusi says:

those hoping for a move – there ya go

  59. avatar Joe in Massapequa says:

BERGY!! I guess he needed someone on his back. Still a long way to go to kill this penalty boys.

  60. avatar 4195mary says:

Absolutely agree Dominik. Hate the leafs, but where would they be in their rebuild if not for all the no-trade clauses and the Sundin thing(no compensation). Experienced management in that fishbowl is probably mandatory. John Ferguson Jr.( no experience) was the reason for that mess. Snow thankfully has a more tolerent fan base. That has been proven over many years, right?

  61. avatar redbull says:

succeed = seriously compete for cup

  62. avatar Walygz says:

OK maybe I was a bit premature with Bergy. That WAS a nice move !!!

  63. avatar msmg says:

Nice job Bergie. Making up for yesterday’s miss. BTW, there goes Witt’s trade value. He’s an Islander so you have to assume his suspension will be in excess of 400 games :)

  64. avatar blitz says:

So, did Witt’s value just go down?

    Burke will flip post-game.

Will a NYI player get the ceremonial ‘statement’ suspension on this hit?

  65. avatar Ron from Lindenhurst says:

Witt will get 12 games. He’s an Islander

  66. On Witt’s elbow: The other night former NJD and current STL goon Cam Janssen was fined $2500 for a flying elbow/leave-your-feet check. Welcome to the NHL disciplinary (non)policy: About as arbitrary as your average dictatorship.

  67. avatar MT says:

He might just get fined, and not suspended, like what they did with Cam Janssen recently

  68. avatar CT Isles Fan says:

    Redemption?

  69. avatar Joe in Massapequa says:

I just heard that the league office has suspended Witt the rest of the season +10 games. If the Isles make the playoffs Witt can deduct the games from there… lol

  70. avatar dally mac says:

Witt threw a gross, dirty elbow on that one. Man he could be suspended up to 5 games for that one. Then Bergy scores short handed. One good thing about the suspension means Witt can’t get hurt between then and the deadline. I can almost hear Burkey screaming and complaining now….powerplay goal by Toronto.

  71. avatar redbull says:

does that Witt hit, albeit a dirty one, remind anyone of the Pronger hit in the playoffs that got him two games (as I recall).

I hate to say this, I hope Hagman is ok, but this probably helps Witt’s value. I know he’s a vet that really has nothing to prove, at least nothing in a game like today – but, this is the type of aggressive, ferocious play that coach’s love for the playoffs.

  72. avatar Fritzfan says:

Guys, are we rooting for a win or draft pick?

  73. avatar Jason W. says:

    Draft pick. Win means nothing.

  74. avatar Joe in Massapequa says:

Well that is finally a goal that McD couldn’t do anything about.

  75. avatar Ron from Lindenhurst says:

    a win

  76. avatar ed says:

Feel like Bailey might have hit a wall with a longer season then he is used to. Seems like he is a step slower right now.

  77. avatar Mike from Philly says:

    Dear Hockey Gods,
Please reward us fans of having to put up with 18 years of futility by rewarding us with John Tavares!

    Mike

  78. avatar Tom says:

The Isles are a virtual lock for the 30th spot. But to be safe a loss to the leafs would be good.

Wins & losses haven’t mattered to Flash since Christmas, but in private I bet he’d say losses are little bit better. :)

  79. avatar admin says:

The NHL has announced that Brendan is suspended for the season. But if the Islanders trade him to Montreal for a 5th round pick, the penalty is lowered to a $100 fine…CB

  80. avatar Neil says:

    rim shot! Hey-ooo!

  81. avatar Dorfer81 says:

    Streit is just nasty.

  82. avatar AM says:

Mark Streit is just really, really good.

  83. Mac isn’t square to puck. So disappointing. I actually prefer Danis as the backup next year because he is better in a pinch (that softie against the Rags aside).

I’m sure Witt will be suspended for duration inconsistent with anyone else who has committed the same offense. He’s an Islander, so he needs to be taught a lesson.

  84. avatar Fritzfan says:

Thank you Sather for throwing money at Redden instead of Streit

  85. avatar Joe in Massapequa says:

    Haha CB.

  86. avatar Fritzfan says:

Who knows about a suspension Campbell seems to use a Magic 8-ball

  87. avatar Walygz says:

Who was talking about Martinek’s “freak” injuries ? I think he just ran himself into the boards leading with his teeth….OUCH

  88. Fritz (88): Funny, after Pock’s suspension I posted a pic of Campbell’s 8-ball.

Seriously, if Pock’s was 5 on an instant reaction elbow, what is Witt’s when he took a skating run without his stick? Oh, that’s right, Campbell says “we treat each incident as separate.”

  89. avatar admin says:

Radek Martinek left with 3:20 left in regulation, but it looked more like he got his bell rung or broke some teeth…CB

  90. avatar Nick Classic says:

Wow – that glove from Toskala was Queen-like.

  91. avatar Joe in Massapequa says:

Sim? WTF are you doing? Haha, gotta love it. LETS GO ISLES!

  92. avatar blitz says:

    CB –

    Martinek has no teeth…

  93. avatar Walygz says:

WOW…Sim is really playing well lately. Looks like the first few games he played here, before the torn knee.

  94. avatar Joe says:

Hey Botta-Bing, Kelly/Kelly looks like a great decoy to get the Isles to tie it up. Can she put on a pair of skates??? We can park her by the net!

  95. avatar Fritzfan says:

Sim has showed a pulse recently any chance we could squeeze a pick out for him

  96. avatar isles316 says:

Im happy for Sim. Im glad he is getting rewarded for working hard.

  97. avatar Bob Bassen says:

Wow. Witt probably suspended. Martinek injured. And after watching the Bruins smoke the Ducks 6-0…they don’t need Guerin…imo.

  98. avatar AM says:

Toskala is giving his best effort to get Tavaras while givign Wilson a heart attack.

  99. avatar Fritzfan says:

Bob also throw in the Weight injury

  100. avatar Mike says:

I feel like Streit-Gervais is a much better pairing than Streit-Campoli

  101. avatar Walygz says:

Joey Mac is getting HAMMERED tonight.

  102. avatar Jason W. says:

    Yay. OT.

  103. avatar doug from sunnyside says:

win or lose okposo looks so relaxed out there and playing with some confidence good to see

  104. avatar Macch says:

CB. Kelly Kelly was more than enough. Thank you

  105. avatar doug from sunnyside says:

hey 103 Walygz he may be after the game on jamison to forget his play tonight but he needs to get focused for ot

  106. avatar IncarceratedBob says:

    I say gervais gets winner

  107. avatar C.J. says:

CB… don’t mess around. Nothing Colin Campbell could do would surprise me.

  108. avatar Walygz says:

Doug: I was referring to the 3 goaltender interence calls on him, and the numerous other hits against but I would not be surprised about the Jameson. Honestly he seems like a rum guy to me

  109. avatar Walygz says:

Oh and hahaa..by the way :)

  110. avatar Jason W. says:

    That was an exciting OT.

    Yay Shootout.

  111. avatar beatlebailey says:

must stay focused on game..not pix of kelly kelly..f-o-c-u…aww who am i kidding! kelly for captain of the ice girls!! :-)

  112. avatar Walygz says:

Dare I ask Tamby to deliver a shootout win ?

  113. avatar doug from sunnyside says:

    Walygz
youre right.. i doubt he likes it with lime though

  114. avatar IncarceratedBob says:

    Tamby goes high glove…Wristerrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr

  115. avatar Ron from Lindenhurst says:

the most boring part about the NHL….a shoot out.

  116. avatar Jay says:

Why is the Devils postgame show on and not the GAME!!!!

  117. So close Franzy. Square Joey… square.

  118. avatar AM says:

Toskala has looked like Cujo in Game 4 of 02. The tying Sim goal was eerily similar to Hamrlik’s goal.

  119. avatar IncarceratedBob says:

    Come on Tambyyyyyyyyy

  120. avatar Jim says:

    That wrister is crazy.

  121. avatar Chris TMC says:

    LMAO @ Tambellinis shot!!!

  122. avatar Madchef says:

116 called it on the money

  123. avatar IncarceratedBob says:

    what did i sayyyyyyyyyyyyyy tambyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy

  124. avatar IncarceratedBob says:

    Holyyyyyyyy crappppp
Joey has to punch blake in the face for that

  125. avatar Jim says:

How is Mac supposed to stop the puck with Blake sitting on him?

  126. avatar Nick Classic says:

KO has failed on that exact move 5 or 6 times now. Can we get him off that, please?

  127. avatar doug from sunnyside says:

hooray a point but a loss..

  128. avatar Madchef says:

great game great loss… keep ur eye on the prize

  129. avatar Jason W. says:

darn. we lose. to a kid in his first game….

    Oh well…

  130. Frig them. Glad for the point, but I’d rather a win against the Maple Laughs.

  131. avatar isles316 says:

My buddy said it best… “This is why I don’t like the shootout, a circus act decided the game.”

  132. avatar Walygz says:

That shootout seemed familiar for some reason….hmmmm

  133. avatar Tom says:

IF Martinek really is on the block, he should be a healthy scratch moving forward. Watch, a long suspension for Witt & an extended injury for Martinek. Snow can tack on another 2 excuses for why he can’t improve the Isles. I swear, Isles org are playing 3 card monte & the fans lose every time.

  134. avatar Bri on Li says:

Just when I beg Bergie to learn how to shoot… too bad I missed what looks in the stats like a great third period. Too bad the kids needed to go to bed…

  135. avatar ISLESFAN999 says:

Good game. I cant complain with one point. Very entertaining game. Okoposo needs to learn to get a shot off on the shootout haha. Good game looking forward to a few trades.

  136. avatar Nick Classic says:

Tom, are you serious? It’s Snow’s fault that Witt threw a dirty elbow? That’s just sad.

  137. avatar Walygz says:

Can we just park Tamby in that spot every time on the powerplay ? He can’t miss from there !!!

  138. avatar beatlebailey says:

i admit i did bolt when we went down 4-2…great effort tonight boys..sim for a second rounder!!

  139. avatar b-ri says:

Okposo either needs a new move or should not be in the shootout. If you dont pull the entire move off it does absolutely nothing. He didnt even get a shot off for at least the second time using that move because he is in too deep. Tambellini has some shot doesnt he if only he could do that when it counts in the stats column

  140. avatar Dorfer81 says:

Fun game to watch: Bergenheim’s hands caught up to his feet; Isles’ fans two favorite punching bags, Sim and Tambellini, contributed; and the Isles didn’t win. Productive!

  141. avatar Chris TMC says:

Post 128 = TRUTH. I love Baby Kyle, but that boy needs to work on his SO move.

And why can Tambs only score in shootouts? Why lol?

  142. avatar dmen77 says:

I said last night it was a mistake to play Joey Mac tonight. Danis has the hot hand and should keep playing…..

Then I woke up and realized the goal of this season is to finish dead last. Joey Mac plays and we only get a point and keep our 30th place spot firmly in our grasp.

Hey, at least the Rags lost too. LOL

  143. avatar doug from sunnyside says:

witt wont geta long susp video doesnt show intent. now they may see it that way but id bet my 3 card monty against it tommy

  144. avatar AM says:

How the heck do we incorporate Tamby’s shot like that into the game? It must drive Gordon nuts.

  145. avatar Pritchett54 says:

If I were guerin or hunter i would be pissed that I keep getting passed over for the shootouts for okposo. I really like this kid but he does the same move each time and not only has it not worked once, i am not even sure he has gotten a shot off.

Tambellini just has a wicked shot. Other than his shootout ability this year and a sick one he had last year, he has shown me ziltch in 2 seasons.

  146. avatar nystrom23 says:

Anyone care to share yyyyyyyyyyyyyy tambellini doesnt take his shot in games? Its as a big of a question as where the fountain of youth is…

  147. avatar isles316 says:

Tambs just doesn’t get open in games and when he is open and takes his shot from bad angles.

  148. avatar Madchef says:

how about who cares what guerin and hunter think. Its not like thier lighting the lamp. by this time next year KO may have moore points then both.

  149. avatar doug from sunnyside says:

many moons ago i saw a bud can where jiggs was announcing i think howie and jaffe need some jack d to alleviate the nightmare they see each night.. they should be tanked by overtime

  150. avatar Jim says:

It’s a lot easier to get a shot off when you have no pressure on you. In a real game, Tamby has to worry about where guys are, who’s trying to hit him, etc. In the shootout, the only thing he has to worry about is where his shot is going.

  151. avatar Tom says:

Uh, no it’s not Snow’s fault Witt through an elbow. Actually, to be fair nothing is Snow’s fault. He’s teflon.

  152. avatar Chris TMC says:

So Tambs can only score when there is nobody behind him and Bergie can only score when he thinks there is someone on his tail! What are we gonna do with these boys lol?

  153. avatar Devon says:

The other WWE girl is Melina

  154. avatar mLem says:

Still…how many times have you seen a player pick a corner with a laser like that?

He has now done it 3 times…as far as I can remember he has only had 3 shots. I understand it’s not in the game, but someone seriously needs to get through to this kid. It would certainly appear as if he has the tools, just needs to put them together.

  155. avatar Madchef says:

    Tambelini=Enigma

  156. avatar isles316 says:

CB is that you asking Gordon about the trade???

  157. avatar d-man says:

off topic but just saw this headline… “Newsday to charge for website” I wonder if that effects logan’s blog? I assume so.

  158. avatar StevieL says:

Streit just owned the game tonight every time he was on the ice!Terrific!
What to do with Tambellini just scares me!Trade him or keep him? The kid obviously has some talent. His shot is incredible! Maybe we need to think about how he is used. Obviously he is deadly from the slot! maybe point on the PP? I’m just afarid we trade him and with the right wingers he starts lighting it up!!

  159. avatar isles316 says:

People knock Gordon, but he looks the reporters in the eye at least and answers the question and doesn’t BS his answers.

  160. avatar Tom says:

Jeff can’t play NHL hockey. He can skate & he can shoot, but he can’t play NHL hockey against other NHL players. Hockey’s a collision sport. In 10 years when Bettman finally makes it ballet on ice, then Jeff has got a shot!

  161. avatar StevieL says:

About Witt… Can you trade a suspended player! You know they will be calling for his head in Toronto! Prediction…3 games suspension!! Hey did Guerin play tonight?? LOL!

  162. avatar doug from sunnyside says:

if newsday charges for site i’ll do as i normally do look here for isles info. CB far and away blows any coverage away (no offense logan)

id rather pay for this site than newsday (dont get any ideas cb lol)

  163. avatar Strummer's Army says:

    Hello, Blondie! :)

Let’s see how fast and how long Campbell suspends Witt. His personal vendetta against the Isles will continue. My guess is it will be more then 5 games. I admire the refs for quickly calling the penalty and kicking him out of the game. It was the right thing to do. I guess this wasn’t the same crew as the one in NJ the night Mottau left his skates to deliever a blow to Nielsen’s head.

Isles easily could have won this game but much like last night they were sleep walking.

Jon Sim keep pumping up your trade value.

Nice hit Tambs and nice shootout goal.

I look forward to the day when I don’t have to see Martinek sprawling around on the ice injured in the Isles uniform.

  164. avatar Steve-O says:

I hope some GM saw the Tambelini shoot out and offer something for him.

  165. avatar BR says:

Am I missing something? Was there a trade anounced during the game??

  166. avatar Tom says:

#161– Yes I’ll give gordon props for that. He is a straight shooter. However, IMHO he better get “coach speak” down pat for next season. He had a couple of REAL hoof-in-mouth moments in his rookie year. The “wins & losses don’t matter” quote is an ALL-TIME classic. That’s just a sick, SICK thing to say. That’s just a tad TOO honest!

  167. avatar isles316 says:

I agree about that one Tom. You just cant say that as a coach but you know what? He is 100% right.

  168. avatar Chickendirt says:

I missed the game and scanned this thread. Please tell me the Witt thing is a joke….

Streit has a nice two point night. I really like this guy but still think the Isles should fish him for a highly touted prospect or a top ten pick this year.

Really talented guy and fun to watch but just seems like the wrong time for a guy to peek like this on the team.

  169. avatar isles316 says:

Chickendirt, Streit MIGHT be the best two way D-man in the league. Why would you trade him? What is his value?

    Witt elbowed a guy yes.

  170. avatar Strummer's Army says:

The Witt thing is not a joke.

Streit stays. One of NHL’s top d-men at a very reasonable price for the next 4 years. When you get that you don’t trade that.

  171. avatar Chickendirt says:

Don’t get me wrong. I’m not saying trade him because I think he stinks. He is really good and I like him a lot.

Problem is that he is one of the leagues top Dmen on a team that’s gonna be in the basement for a few years. That doesn’t do us any good or him any good.

I think we could get one of the top 7-12 guys in last years draft or a good first rounder in this years draft for him. He about 32 right now. By the time this team starts winning he’s gonna be about 35.

  172. avatar The Express says:

    CB (91)

How could Marty mess his teeth up any worse?

    And Kelly Kelly……….wow.

  173. avatar Chris TMC says:

Chickendirt (173) Mark Streit just turned 31 like 12 weeks ago and he has played 3.5 seasons in the NHL. Can we please nix pretending that he is some old fart? He has lots of great years ahead of him, we have him for a worthy price for years, he is a great guy and a great player, the fans love him, and trading him would be unbelievably stupid.

  174. avatar Chris TMC says:

I wonder if Kelly Kelly was bummed out that Rick wasnt there? If I remember correctly she was more than a bit enamored with him when she met him lol.

BTW Whenever I read the name “Kelly Kelly” I think about that guy Skylar singing “Shelley Shelley” to Stan Marsh’s sister.

  175. avatar Chickendirt says:

    Chris;

Lemme throw this at you. If you could pry Alex Pieterangelo off St Louis for Mark Streit, would you do it?

(You are right on his age I just 77 and didn’t look at the month. There are reasons related to biology why guys at 35 don’t play like they did at 31 but that’s another topic)

  176. avatar Vukota says:

Really small crowd tonight. Fun game to watch. Okposo is going to be a stud and true power forward in this league for a long time. He does everything. Would like to see him try a new move in the SO.

  177. avatar Jim Clark says:

I was one of the 12,201 official attendance people there. I wonder what the actual count was.

I did walk by to check out the WWE divas. Better looking than the Fabulous Moolah but Miss Elizabeth is still the champ! I hope neither Kelly Kelly or Melina (?) die prematurely from steroid use like 50 other wrestlers have in the last 10 years.

Team really came to life after Brendan Wittless was ejected. Forget about getting something for Wittless, figure what you have to bribe a team to take him away.

I like Okposo but I don’t think he should be playing the point on the power play. Keep him in the slot. Tell him to learn how to shoot the puck on the shootout. Joey was weak in the beginning but improved. That’s why he’s lucky to be a backup. Dani is probably the same.

It tears me up to say this but Jason Blake is a very good player.

  178. avatar doc says:

Unfortunately, within the past 2 days, the bloggers on this site have dragged it down to NEWSDAY levels with RIDICULOUS trade proposals, trade everyone for a bag of puck proposals, trade Witt, Guerin and Hilbert for Price and Higgins proposals, trade Martinek for Pronger proposals… trade Geurin and Witt for Phil Kessel proposals.

Am I the only one that see the absolute LUNACY here?

I thought Islander fans at least had a little sense and sensibility.

Or are the bloggers Steady and Anonymous taking over this site???

    Please help me lord.

    DOC

  179. avatar doc says:

OH YEAH… and I forgot. Can we please stop even suggesting trading Streit!!!

Who do you want to play on this team next year?

    DOC

  180. avatar Vukota says:

Jim, I was there as well. They were lucky if there was 9,000 people there.

  181. avatar Pat says:

I was there too – dare I say there was slightly over 7000 there ?

Hardly any Leaf fans this time – maybe 400 in the whole place – usually a lot more.

    Half a loaf – pardon the pun……..

Tamby is great in the shootout.

    Pat

  182. avatar Vukota says:

You may be right pat. When the Isles took the ice for the first time the place was empty. I felt like it was an exibition, lol

  183. avatar Jim Clark says:

Pat’s estimate sounds good to me..although the 50-50 raffle was a decent number, maybe $1200?? Maybe people are playing (like me) because their paychecks/overtime is less.

The team did battle back and earned a point. I listened to the Leaf post game show/call in on 900 Hamilton on the drive home. One of the callers was wondering about the wisdom of playing the Leafs goalie Toskala on back-to-back games when he has a groin problem. Maybe that helped us get a point!I want to win but I want the Hedman/Tavares pick. But 40 years ago I rooted for the Buffalo Bills to finish last and get O J Simpson. They did but in the following decade they went to the playoffs once.

  184. avatar Giaco says:

I dont know if anyone mentioned this…

SOMEONE PLEASE TELL OKPOSO TO STOP DOING THAT STUPID MOVE IN SHOOTOUTS!!!

  185. avatar Scott S. from Long Beach says:

Give credit to Blake for that shootout move…who’s better than him?

  186. avatar Mike says:

Why wasn’t Blake’s shootout move goalie intererence. As he stopped and spun, he blocked Joey ferom getting back to the post.

  187. avatar Charlie says:

Ummm…the “other lady from WWE”….her NAME is MELINA!!!!

  188. avatar Marc from Troy says:

Random thoughts (putting my 4 posts into 1)…

How to see more of Tambellini’s shot during games? 1. Get him off of 4th line. Playing w/grinders ain’t getting it done. 2. Put him on PP instead of Hilbert, Park, Witt, etc. Why this hasn’t been done yet must only be known to Flash. Not like the current PP is exactly lighting it up, either: 0-7 against the 2nd WORST PK in the league last night. What the hell do they have to lose?

And wasn’t that Tambellini who took out everyone’s favorite “should be an Isle”, Luke Schenn, with that hit? Seems like he’s at least trying to be tougher than most of you give him credit for.

I’d keep Sim. Very much possible he’s just starting to fully come back from his injury. I really like what I see from him lately. Looks a lot like the guy we were told he was when he was first signed.

Okposo either tries a new move, or he’s off of shootouts.

MacDonald has not been close to the same player he was before he was injured. At least 2 he should have had last night. Yeah, yeah, we want to lose games…blah, blah. Crazy, I know, but I like watching my team compete, and right now Danis makes them more competitive.

Dean McAmmond = poor man’s Mike Sillinger. (That’s a compliment, btw.)

Maybe I was wrong about Tom (135). Maybe he’s the only one of us brilliant enough to see through Snow’s plan to have Witt make a stupid play in hopes of a suspension and THEN having Martinek give himself a good ol’ face plant into the boards just for good measure. Genius!

Finally, to Doc: Amen, and Amen.

  189. avatar David says:

i am so PISSED off at Kyle! He doesnt take a thing seriously! What a comeback the islanders had going, it was amazing to watch. then its his turn in the shoot out and he pretends he’s sydney crosby or ovechkin at the super skills competition at the all star game??? what the hell is wrong with him! He better have some kind of man to man talk with gordon…this is the third time he did this and its TOTALLY unacceptable!!!!!!!!!

  190. avatar Willis says:

He’ll learn, David. I’d let him get as many chances as he can this year. Then over the summer he can figure something else out. Didn’t Bailey do something similar? Seems like you either have it (Neilsen) or you need to hone your skill. JMO

  191. avatar Willis says:

And don’t anyone give me any crap about Franz missing last night – I know he did but my point is he’s got the right idea with the shoulder dip and no one gets it every time. Kyle needs more practice or an easier way.
