“WHITE-OUT FOR THE LIGHTHOUSE”
Project supporters unite at Saturday’s game

UPDATED, 3:25 pm - Read the Newsday story on Environmental review, including Kate Murray taking a bow.
The Inbox has been buried with emails to spread the word, so we shall. Islanders fans in support of the Coliseum property development want to be seen and heard at Saturday’s Islanders-Devils game, which is Town of Hempstead night at the Coliseum.
There are plans for a “White-out for the Lighthouse.” In a nutshell, wear white (like our model Rachel Bilson) if you’re going to the game. There will be chants and also don’t forget to visit the Lighthouse info tables. For details, read about it in Nick G’s blog here and all over the world wide web.
Talk about the Lighthouse and demonstration here, hockey in the next thread.

so of a mother! i was going to the game but had to give the tix away. i guess its for the better since i dont have anythig white. ill be watching the game so i hope someone gets avenged, we win, the place is white, and i hear chants from the crowd! at least one of those things!
i hope there are lots of signs too. get crackin people!
I’ll be there for sure! Let’s pack the house and WHITE IT OUT! Let’s be loud and clear in our support (as we’ve been all along) and make a great impression on “Town of Hempstead” Night. LET’S GO ISLANDERS!
Kevin, I love you bro, but you don’t have ANYTHING white?
I’ll be there, wearing white, even though the Great Lighthouse Debate makes my head hurt sometimes.
Should be an interesting evening for sure.
actually no. i mean seriously, no. i do have the white sleeveless muscle shirts aka wife beater but dont think ill be wearing that in this weather. if i were to goid pick up something lol
I am now optimistic about the project. I think it will get done because the town of Hempstead has realized that their tax base has been seriously eroded by the recession. The recession has damaged the long term finances of the State and every town in it. This project will bring jobs and tax revenue to the town at a time that the state is in serous trouble.
We’re in agreement to politely cheer Kate Murray if she shows, rather than booing her, correct? I didn’t get the memo
There’s an article on Newsday’s site that seems like positive news:
http://www.newsday.com/sports/hockey/islanders/ny-splight0221,0,5867504.story
Marc (10) At this point anything that moves this along in a positive direction(no matter how tiny) should be considered MAJOR. I’ll be at the NVMC with my 1980’s white Mike Bossy jersey on Sat. hope to see u all there!!
Kevin,
You’re a hockey fan, so there’s a 98.7% chance you can go shirtless. Avoid tanning salons and shave your back, who’ll know.
For added effect maybe paint the number 7 on the shaven back… or maybe shave the number 7… well… you get the picture.
Great model choice CB
Maybe some folk can break out the Sutter unis… make the poor guy think it’s 1983 all over again, only he’s stuck on the wrong bench.
I’d go but I’m stuck behind enemy lines (aka NJ) right now. I’ll wear my classic home whites and watch on the tube.
I will be at the game as always because i have season tickets. However, i will have a Green shirt on to represent the Money Wang will make from the Completion of the LightHouse with NO Guarentees that our Islanders will benifit from it. I Know we assume the Islanders will benifit from it hopefully, but can anybody show me in writing where Wang said it will benifit the Islanders or will he sell or will we all just go on Blind faith! ya know where that gets you!
Let’s be loud but keep it civil, folks. The pressure is good, but we don’t want to give the politicians an excuse to kill this.
We should break out the white rally towels as well that we were waving around like maniacs in 2001.
Paul…I don’t get you or some other people who make the same ridiculous statements. I would hope that our owner would EXPECT to make money off of his investment since that is what most people who own business like to do. The more money he makes, the better off the Islanders will be. Look at the Yankees and all their business models. With the building of the Lighthouse the Islanders lease automatically extends to the year 2025 as well.
See, the night will not be genuine because of large amounts of discounted and free tickets. The Isles will say, hey Kate Murray, look at the support we get. But its not genuine. It hides the hard cold fact that the Isles have been in shambles for 20 years and the fan base has been treated like garbage.
haha nice jpiva! what did the article mean??
Wow Paul*, just WOW.
CB, I think the chances of seeing Ms. Murray drop the puck have gone up now. This is some decent news about the LH.
I know this blog and nick’s is promoting the white out but has there been anything from the Islanders? Wont it look sad if only 2000 people are wearing white. Im just making up a number, I have no idea how many people will get the message but seems to me the Isles need to hand out at least a few shirts too?
I’m with Paul. I cannot believe that a business man would ever want to profit from his investments. And if there is no guarantee for a Stanley Cup on Long Island then why should I be for it? For shame. What is wrong with everybody?
(sarcasm)
Paul* — #15 — Will you please spell out your business model where the owner of the Islanders doesn’t make much money, but the team benefits?
Because, to put it mildly, I’m scratching my head over your point of view. Apparently you think the model of the Coyotes or the Panthers or Thrashers is one more to your liking.
I think if enough people spread the word about the white out it can be somewhat of a success. Tell your friends! TEll them to tell their friends.
Also if you go to the lighthouse table and mention Katrina’s blog “The Light Post” she will give you a free tshit. And guess what color it is
Haha thanks gina
i hope paul was being sarcastic when he said that, Charles Wang has every right to make money off this project the more money he makes the more the isles will benifit from the lighthouse the guy loses 20 million/year off the islanders BRING OUT THE RED CARPET he deserves it
As per comment #7, I call on everyone going Saturday night to wear a white wife beater. Even if it doesn’t have the desired effect of expediting the Lighthouse Project, it will still be hysterical to see 16,000 fans at a hockey game all wearing wife beaters.
Jethro that is priceless!!! Paul you have no clue and should have both hands removed for fear of posting something so absurd again.
FYI, though unrelated: Comrie and Campoli to OTT for McAmmond and SJ’s No. 1.
If there are people who are short on clean wife beaters or don’t have some of their own, I have extras. I’ll be giving them out at Champions before the game, plenty for everyone. Is that really you, Mick?
It’s good to have you posting on here Vukota haha.
Wish I could be at the game, but my girlfriend is having a party at her apartment.
Have fun guys, great news with the Lighthouse and lets hope it keeps progressing.
If the trade in post #29 actually happens, I think Garth Snow would be arrested for robbery.
Wait Gina 319, are you serious about getting a free shirt from the Lighthouse Table????
Hey Paul, if you’re going to wear green, can it at least be a green wife-beater? I’ve actually seen camouflage wife-beaters. Maybe they have green ones too.
It’s me boys!!!! Hope all is well and right now any news is good news for now.
My wife beaters all have big yellow pit-stains. But, they do fit nice and snug around my beer-gut. Even though I can’t go to the game tomorrow, I’ll wear one while I’m at a Mardi Gras parade with Lighthouse written in spilt beer on the front in support.
jethro, ill help supply them! ill custumize it for you paul, you wat some golden dollar signs on it?
#29. Is that an optimistic proposal or something you actually read somewhere?
i heard about it too but im looking for a link. its not on here or tsn so lets not get jumpy
Campoli and Comrie to Ottawa for 1st round pick!
Reading the Newsday article, I’m a little confused as to who’s approving and commenting….
It says if the town board approves the report, then Wang has to answer environmental concerns.
If they approve the report, isn’t that in and of itself an affirmative answer?
Isn’t this an approval of the report Wang had to submit? It seems to imply that the town wrote the report.
I’m confused…..
DonK - if that did happen, it means Ottawa has decided to just completely tank for the #1 now that Alfredsson is hurt.
Then Spezza and Heatley off to parts unknown to snag some extra first-rounders or a young goalie to inherit Gerber’s crease… waitaminute, I should shut up.
just got the text message from the Isles….Campoli and Comrie for Dean McAmmond and a first rounder
first off - what’s McAmmonds contract status…expiring deal?
second, did we get Ottawa’s first rounder or another teams?
Comrie’s gone lets have a party!!!!! Compoli - saddy face, but its alright he was replaceable anywho…
dea mcammond must have been a throw in. thats my boy right there! way to go garth. must be san jose’s first i am guessing
NYI GET 1ST-ROUND PICK IN TRADE: The Isles have traded Comrie and Campoli to Ottawa for McAmmond and first-rounder. Go to newyorkislanders.com for full story.
dean mcammond is a ufa after this year, and he is 35 years old jic u guys were wondering
garth snow is a genius. i like campoli but this is worth it.
Well, saw off my hands and call me Stumpy. They did do it!
Interesting trivia according hockeyDB - he was traded back and forth between teams TWICE: Chi-Edm-Chi, and then Clg-Colo-Clg. The second time Calgary was deemed in violation of player acquisition rules and McAmmond was ruled ineligible for the remainder of 2003. So Snowie pretty much has to send him back to Ottawa in a few months…
What a great trade. Its basically trading Campy for a first, since Comrie and McCammond are both UFA’s. Not bad.
I’ll be there with my white Isles jersey from the 2006 season. Haven’t worn that thing in a awhile. I’ve been sporting the royal blue
I mis-read that trade in the following thread … this is a pretty good deal … I almost had a heart attack after looking up the Isles’ announcement … I thought Ottawa lost all senses and traded their own slot in 2009 … now that would of been sahweeeet!! LOL!
Give a little love to my teammate & our hulking stay at home defenseman on Saturday. He’s a die-hard Devil fan (former Isles fan in the late 70s / early 80s) whose idol was and is Chico Resch. He’s attending the game & in support for Isles fans he’s going to wear his circa 1984 White Devils Jersey with Chico on the back & a Rangers Sux cap. He’s still rooting for the Dev tomorrow though.
