So everybody who is your favorite islander this year and why? I guess the most obvious is KO because he looks like he could be a real star in the league. For me it has been Tim Jackman. When you watch him play live the guy is skating full force every shift, hits hard and brings so much energy to the team. He does not cheat the fans or himself. An overachiever.

  2. avatar Rob says:

Mine has to be Mark Streit. This guy has the right attitude for what we are trying to do here, he has a great plus/minus for a player on a team as bad as we are and, oh yeah he can straight out produce points. His season has made it much easier by the way to pick Tavares over Hedman, we have a true all-star Defenseman to build around in Streit for four more years!!!

  3. avatar ALL ISLANDER FANS REVOLT!!! says:

I have been impressed with KO even before he was scoring goals and points…You can see he has the “it” factor…KO can be an elite power foward and if he keeps working as hard as he is, he will..

  4. avatar sec301 says:

Rick DiPietro beacuse he gets paid to not play and because of him not playing we are going to get Tavares

  5. avatar ALL ISLANDER FANS REVOLT!!! says:

My favorite player is Mark Streit as well…He is an elite hockey player let alone an elite d-man..

  6. avatar Staten Islander says:

Much as I like Streit and KO, those two are obvious, I have to go to Blake Comeau. the guy overcame a lot of adversity this year

  7. avatar billy says:

ricky always, but this year def streit. KO, comeau and neilsen have delivered as well.

i just can’t wait to see this depth chart next season:

    Weight
    Tavares
    Bailey
    Neilsen

and yes tavares above bailey, tavares will make the jump pretty smoothly, he has that “it” factor ALL ISLANDER FANS REVOLT!! mentioned. i keep telling people to jump on the wagon now because this is for sure the most excited i’ve been in forever.

  8. avatar coolhndluke says:

#4- interesting pont, for better or worse it is true.

  9. avatar KO21 says:

I don’t have a specific favorite but one player of note is Doug Weight…He’s a great player, an accomplished and respected veteran around the league and even a nice guy with an infectious positive attitude…I have not seen many players with the character of this guy…Hes older but seems like a kid at heart and is now one of my favorite players…

  10. avatar JayK says:

I’ve gotta go with Kate Murray.

  11. avatar Lee says:

Blake Comeau has won me over this year, big time. Was down on him when he showed up outta shape, but he really turned it on and showed he can be a player here.

On defense, Bruno Gervais stock has risen the most in my eyes….for years I complained about how small and oft injured he was, but this year he’s been amazing for us. As everyone else dropped, he stayed strong and turned himself into a keeper.

  12. avatar Blizzard says:

Well I love Jackman, but this year my favorite player to watch is KO.

  13. avatar Macch says:

The Isles will draft Hedman or Duschene with the #1 pick… No I’m not crazy

  14. avatar Rob says:

    (13) please refrain from saying things like that – it just upsets most of us

  15. avatar Mikey says:

Not me (14). I would rather have Hedman. Can you imagine if Hedman was a Canadian boy playing the OHL and JT was in Sweden? They would never stop talking about Hedman on TSN. Hedman had an incredible year this year; +22 on a very mediocre team in a Men’s leauge. I just hope our scouts are actually doing their jobs and not just buying into the hype from Canada.

  16. avatar Macch says:

15- I totally agree… Hedman playing in Sweden hurts his draft status to the public. He would be ranked much higher if he was playing in the OHL… I’m sure scouts know how good he is. JT has serious skating issues. Both Hedman and Duschene skate like the wind

  17. avatar Rob says:

Most scouts who get paid a lot of money to evaluate young talent prefer Tavares over Hedman and Duchesne – Billy Jaffe went to watch JT play this year raved about him – I trust their judgement – we need JT but i have no faith in Garth Snow to make it happen

  18. avatar isles72 says:

that was a cross check ?
    wow

  19. avatar sec301 says:

#15 and 16 you are completely wrong you cant pass up a player like tavares he is going to be another crosby not saying skill wise but he will save a franchise hedman wont you cant market hedman either and another thing hedman probably wont play in the nhl next year so its up to you draft a player who will have immediate impact or draft a player that wont help for a couple of years

  20. avatar Cruicky says:

If Hedman played Junior in Canada, he would be on the injury list. Constantly. To soft for Canadian Junior hockey.

  21. avatar Mikey says:

    (17) Most scouts also agree that JT has a lot of holes in his game. I haven’t heard the same about Hedman and Duchene. Based on everything I have seen and read, I fear that JT will turn into a Yashin/Spezza type – a slow-footed guy with great hands who plays on the perimeter. That can be a great guy to have as a piece of a great team, but I think Hedman can be a more valuable player for this franchise.

  22. avatar admin says:

I’m waiting for someone to say teams don’t need a Tavares or Hedman at 1 because you can always draft Datsyuk and Zetterberg in later rounds. Good evening, everyone. Thanks for being on the blog, even Macch for the bizzaro Duchene-at-1 comment. If the NYI get the first pick, I can guarantee they won’t take Duch at 1…CB

  23. avatar admin says:

…They could move back and take Duchene at 3 (rim shot!)…CB

  24. avatar Brooks Simpson says:

We should be prepared to welcome either Tavares or Hedman, and not cry about it. We won’t know for some time to come what we will know in hindsight, which is why they call it hindsight.

Much depends on everything else Snow does during the offseason, not simply the first/second pick.

  25. avatar MT says:

Ah, Okie shaved the neck beard.

  26. avatar Brooks Simpson says:

I didn’t know Datsyuk or Zetterberg were available this draft. :)

  27. avatar Kevin Fitz says:

I was on the Hedman bandwagon for the longest time. But the improved play of Gervais and Hillen has brought me over to the middle and now I would not be upset with whoever they pick.

  28. avatar dhasy22 from virginia beach says:

is anyone elses nhl center ice feed just completely ripped up???

  29. avatar John says:

Snow’s biggest challenge will come with the late 1st and 2nd round picks. Love to know what he is thinking on those…

  30. avatar Neil says:

Rahshani’s DU Pioneers are getting taken out for a ride by Miami-Ohio, 4-1 in the 3rd…which also means Tyler Bozek will be a free agent in about an half an hour. Shocking upset in Bridgeport Regional as Air Force beat Michigan, 2-0.

  31. avatar Kevin Fitz says:

Here is a scenario CB. Say someone like Atlanta ends up with the 3rd pick and they offer the 3rd pick and Kovalchuk for the first overall pick (and maybe the isles have to give something else up, I am not a GM obviously) would you do that? I could see that happening because Kovalchuk is a UFA next year and that may be the best possible thing they could get for him. I know this has almost no shot of happening, but the isles are playing the best team in the league on the road tonight, this may be the most interesting thing to discuss!

  32. avatar Joe in Massapequa says:

The Rakh says… I think I just heard he got an assist. I was flipping back and forth and pretty much missed it. Not looking good for DU though..

  33. avatar Brooks Simpson says:

    http://www.nhl.com/ice/news.htm?id=415494&navid=DL|NHL|Home

Three NHL mock drafts from nhl.com.

  34. avatar Islesfan4lyfe says:

#31 I do that in a heartbeat. Kovalchuk is one of the most underrated stars in the league since he plays on Atlanta. Kovalchuk is proven, the #1 pick is not. If we can look him up long term i make that deal right away

  35. avatar John says:

Kovy (signed long term) and Duchene/ MSP/ Cowen/ Kane would have me partying for a month.

  36. avatar Joe in Massapequa says:

Hey CB, did KO lose the beard bet? or did Cal Clutterbuck hurt his feelings in the penalty box the other night. Good first period.

  37. avatar Rob says:

    (33) Last thought from me on this (guidelines) but i hope that all these anti-tavares people start coming to their right mind. I can spend hours debating why he is a no-brainer for this organization and how much more important a number one center is than a defenseman. And Tavares was much more impressive in the WJC than Hedman.

  38. avatar Kevin Fitz says:

hahaha i was thinking the same thing joe about the beard

  39. avatar Larry says:

In my opinion the star forward gets you a Cup, but the franchise Defenseman gets you a dynasty

  40. avatar isles316 says:

I like Comeau as my #1 player.

  41. avatar Ray says:

Air Force outshot Michigan 50-15! Yikes!

  42. avatar Pat says:

Hey CB, it was great talking to you for a couple of minutes after the meeting last night. You provide a great service for us die hard Islander fans. Any info on Point Blank night 3.

  43. avatar Kevin Fitz says:

    Ray, Michigan outshot Airforce 43-13

  44. avatar Brooks Simpson says:

Air Force shot down Michigan 2-0 :)

  45. avatar admin says:

    (31) Kevin: Atlanta would not offer that, so it’s a hypothetical not worth getting into…CB

  46. avatar Kevin Fitz says:

Sorry for having fun CB. I’ll refrain in the future.

  47. avatar Gary says:

#31 and #34 – You never make that trade because you will never sign Kovalchuk. The thought of Duchene and Kovy may have you dancing, but when he walks away in a year you’re screwed.

  48. avatar Pat says:

You think Franzen would look good in an Islander uniform next season. It’s OK to dream.

  49. avatar admin says:

(46): If I came out of it with Kovalchuk and Duchene instead of just Tavares, and could sign Kovy, yes…CB

  50. avatar Chickendirt says:

Caught a little of the Denver game up until the end of the 2nd. Rhett got himself a helper.

Anyword on the outcome of that one?

  51. avatar Joe says:

Looks like all we need to worry about now is Colorodo to finish last overall. TB has been getting some points lately, not tonite though!

  52. avatar Kevin Fitz says:

Miami beat them. Both number 1 seeds that played today lost!

  53. avatar Mikey says:

wow. Okposo is a star in the making. the guy is constantly stealing pucks and creating offense.

  54. avatar Madchef says:

been hearing about rhakshani for a while know. any chance he is in camp next year, and if not can he make the team when finished out of college? I still don’t see any big free agents signing here until lighthouse gets settled, jmo. Does Weight really deserve to be back next year at 48 thousand.Witt, Mcammond and a older not quite as old vet could suffice no.

  55. avatar admin says:

    (42) Hi Pat. Nice meeting you, too. Unfortunately, I don’t think I can get Point Blank Night 3 done in time. Need to spend these next few weeks trying to figure out what’s next career-wise and with the blog…CB

  56. avatar isle_in_LA says:

Not everyone thinks Duchene jumping into the 1/2 mix is funny…
    http://www.thehockeynews.com/articles/24745-A-Scouts-Life-Could-Duchene-topple-Tavares.html

  57. avatar Chickendirt says:

What’s everyone’s take on Rahkshani off of tonights game?

Anyone here get to watch him on daily basis?

Most I’ve heard is that he’s a diamond in the rough.

  58. avatar Justin says:

Islanders are younger, quicker and hungrier in this game. Red Wings are gonna get a tongue-lasing in the locker room.

  59. avatar eric says:

    islanders woopen detriot 2-0

  60. avatar Jimmy Mac says:

Either Tavarses or Hedman would be fine with me.

To be honest, I like Magnus,Duchene, and Cowen too.

I’m just hoping we can parlay the second 1st rounder and the seconds to move up and jump on someone like Kulikov.

  61. avatar Jim says:

I’ve seen 2-3 Denver games. Rahkshani has always played pretty well, so at least he’s somewhat consistent. He’s got decent speed, good vision and a very quick release. I don’t know who Denver is losing or gaining in recruits, but I think if they are going to be a tournament team, he’s probably better off staying one more year. THN in the Future Watch edition said the NYI would probably consider signing him this year.

  62. avatar Kevin Fitz says:

interesting article Isles in LA. I had no idea that Taveres wasn’t a very good skater. Why is this guy so hyped if his skating is a question??? Now I am more confused than ever!

  63. avatar jonw says:

#57 from what i’ve read,he has good speed, and passing ability. He makes his linemates better and works hard.his knocks are he is a bit small and most times will not overpower.career potential 2nd line foward.

  64. avatar Macch says:

CB its Macch. Granted I dont get to speak with the great hockey minds that you do on a daily basis, but why is so strange the Duschene could go at 2. There is a lot of time between now and the draft. Zach Bogosian stock sky rocketed at the combine. All i’m saying from what I read is that JT’s skating is a concern and with Gordon’s “system” I wouldnt be surprised to see the Isles grab Hedman or Duschene both known for their skating

  65. avatar Chickendirt says:

    Thanks Jim!!!

    CB;

I just had an idea. Is it possible we can have guet blogs on here from fans that get to watch our prospects on a daily basis. Every couple of weeks I try to look up some stuff but what’s out there is just so limited.

maybe some fan thoughts who watch them would make this rebuild a little more lively and get some fans involved more?

    Just a thought,

    Thanks.

  66. avatar Justin says:

I would be stunned and so would the rest of the hockey world if Duchene is picked ahead of Tavares. Can’t see that happening.

  67. avatar Healy says:

    Holy second period!

KO, Neilsen, Jackman, MacDonald, even Tambellini! I am impressed with the effort I’ve seen. I’d rather us suck and be this entertaining then have mediocre first round exit after mediocre first round exit!

Please let em stay on the Island so I can watch this team grown up in a few years!

  68. avatar isle_in_LA says:

I know…that was the first bad thing that I’ve heard about Tavares.

  69. avatar Joe says:

Hey Cb, can you post the 6 minute video that Wang displayed last night on the Lighthouse? Would like to see it and I am sure other bloggers would like to view it as well. Thanks for the play by play last night.

  70. avatar Matt says:

Tavares, Bailey and Nielsen would be a solid 3 down the middle for a long time to come.

  71. avatar MickeyBoy7 says:

Sometimes like tonite’s 2nd period we look SO good that I almost cannot wait for the season to end so we can get ready for next year.

  72. avatar Ryan says:

There is no chance the Isles take anyone but Tavares if they get the first pick simply because they haven’t earned the benefit of the doubt to do anything other than take the consensus number one. As it stands now, they are kind of the laughingstock of the league, so they simply wouldn’t take the chance of passing on Tavares and looking like fools. These are the types of risks great organizations like the Devils and Red Wings could afford to take, but not us. Of course, the Devils and Red Wings rarely have a pick in the top 20, but I digress…

  73. avatar Ray says:

    (43) Oops, had it backwards. My bad!

  74. avatar lovin lethbridge says:

Kevin (post 62) – His skating is not in question. He is a very strong skater, but does not have the break away speed. A scout’s job is to pick apart a player, to the point where a person’s game gets dissected until there is nothing left.
He is a better player (my opinion for what it is worth) than Stamkos in TB, and has the skill, heart, and desire to be a top flight player for many years.

  75. avatar Mario says:

Mickey my thoughts exactly. I know you cant play like that every game but I liked what I saw in the 2nd. I cant wait for next year.

  76. avatar jonw says:

and just to add on #74. The scouts have been going over Tavares for 4 years now.i think if he had any glaring problems it would’ve beenn beatin’ over our heads by now.

  77. avatar Jim says:

why can’t we play like this every game? This is great! We look like a team in the hunt for the playoffs! That was the best period I’ve seen all season, and perhaps the most disappointing in the sense that if you can play that way once, there’s no reason why you can’t the entire season. Maybe Doug Weight means it when he says we can make it to the playoffs?

  78. avatar isles316 says:

CB, do you think anything you do in your career outside of this blog will be hockey related? I’m sure I’m not the only one who greatly hopes so.

  79. avatar admin says:

    (64) Macch: I may have mis-read your Comment at 13. Thought you were saying the NYI were taking Duchene with the No. 1 overall pick. Maybe you meant the team’s first pick…CB

  80. avatar Fist of Gillies says:

CB – Kate Murray needs PR help. Couldn’t think of a better candidate. when does that non-compete expire? ;)

  81. avatar JOE RVC says:

howie rose is into it!!!….i think with the players the islanders have if they got better direction they could play like this more often

  82. avatar alex says:

    CB for TOH Supervisor!

  83. avatar Jim Clark says:

Tampa made it close but lost. Does Barry Melrose still get paid not to coach that mess? Our newest threat to a guaranteed #2, Colorado, is up 1-0 at the end of one.

  84. avatar Richie66 says:

When was the last time Detroit was shut out?? How in Gods name is this happening, freaking unreal

  85. avatar JT says:

Jaffe and Rose with the Heine and Tuchus comments, what jokers we have on our TV coverage…seriously, great game tonight by our team. I only have positive hopes going into the draft. Hopefully we can land one of the top 2 guys and keep on building. If Dougie Weight thinks this team can improve by leaps and bounds by next year, why shouldn’t we….

  86. avatar Nova Scotia Isles Fan says:

I saw a stat today that said TB has lost more one goal games this year than any team in the league.

Bad Goaltending and porous defence can overcome a lot of scoring potential.

  87. avatar Justin says:

Dec. 31, 2007. 2-0 to St. Louis the last time the Red Wings were shut out at home.

  88. avatar eric says:

    isles beating stanley cup champs.
    go fish!

  89. avatar UIF says:

Did you guys see Witt mouth off to that kid in the audience right after the penalty was called? That was hysterical.

  90. avatar John says:

The Detroit broadcast team has a lot of good things to say about the way the Isles have played tonight.

  91. avatar admin says:

    (78) Thanks for the real kind thought, 316. I hope so…CB

  92. avatar Brooks Simpson says:

    Wow. 2-0.

  93. avatar beaker says:

yea i want last place, but ill take that win and two points any day

  94. avatar potvin05 says:

Joey Mac!!!!!!!!! Big win for the kid. He played great.

  95. avatar eric says:

    go fish!!!
    go aves!!!

  96. avatar Kevin Fitz says:

did they really just shut out detroit in detroit??

  97. avatar alex says:

WOW thats all i can say!

  98. avatar Ray says:

    Did that really just happen!??!?

  99. avatar 19 ISLE in NJ 22 says:

    Geeeezzzuzzzz!!!!

I have been sitting on the edge of my seat all night …. Joeheeee Mac!!! Unbelieveable goaltending … just as Yan cooled off … Joey turns out a Novemberesque effort… Derailed the TavHeDuch run for a game … but worth it to see these kids beat the Stanely Cup Champs and top team in the league.

Magic # still at 11 for Colorado and 10 for Tampa … if Colorado wins tonight that comes down to a 9 … night all.

  100. avatar Cruicky says:

Congrats Joey, great game. You really showed your a quality goaltender tonight.

  101. avatar Jim Clark says:

What did the graphic say..first Islanders shutout of Detroit since Billy Smith in 1981? Wow! Game ended just in time for the Chili Bowl National midgets too.

  102. avatar Scott from Newburgh says:

It figures… I would have thought they would have beat the Wild and loose to the Wings. So much I know.

  103. avatar isles316 says:

Macdonald was great. Good for him. Good for the team. :)

  104. avatar Matt says:

wow, what a solid team win.

  105. avatar frank nyc says:

WoW! Joey Mac with the shutout. The last place team shutting out the defending champs.
    GO ISLES

  106. avatar TuxTax says:

Heck of a game by Joey! Always love to see a win no matter what!!!

  107. avatar Brooks Simpson says:

I know that CB says we should not put too much on wins now given the Isles’ situation … but let’s suspend that rule for 24 hours.

  108. avatar ken says:

that was the most excited howie has been since 1994.

  109. avatar admin says:

    (108) No argument there. Good win. Definitely one they can take with them. Although, keep in mind Brooks, Scott Gordon was the one that said it first! CB

  110. avatar Pat says:

Great game, great win. Nice job JOEY!!!!!!!!!!

  111. avatar isles316 says:

Let’s give it up for Scott W. who went to the meeting last night, then took a 7am flight to Detriot to attend tonights game. He currently is having the best day of his life and so far has made it alive.

    Tonights game was fun.

  112. avatar Dave says:

Any chance that Tavares would land a model or actress girlfriend? With Yashin on the Isles, we always had a hot Carol Alt in the stands, and with Comrie we had an even hotter Hillary Duff. But now with Comrie gone, there are no more models or actresses coming to the games. Just Pat Sajack and Kevin Connelly. Both nice people, but not much fun to look at. offense

  113. avatar Ben says:

I still think that trade Dipietro, with his knee problems – since college days for a high draft pick and prospect. Sign on joey and Danis as our two. Both have given us great games and will improve. Dipietro, yes he can be awesome, is a blue-chipper, is a high risk. Get something for him nw!

Joey and Danis have, between them have given us more quality games than Dipietro
    did any year so far.

Imagine a trade like that and you choose from the top 5 prospects from this years draft.

As the GM’s and players say, it’s a business and DiPietro can get us another pick and a quality prospect.

  114. avatar Erika says:

Sure if Tavares ends up a big star, he’ll get a model/actress girlfriend. He’s pretty good-looking. Just hope it doesn’t affect him like it did our 2000 1st overall…

  115. avatar isle_in_LA says:

I don’t know Erica…have you heard his voice?? LOL

  116. avatar isle_in_LA says:

    Erika

  117. avatar isles316 says:

I don’t care if he dates a Jonas brother. I just hope he can play hockey well for us.

  118. avatar Ben says:

As great as it was to beat the Red Wings tonight, don’t forget we want them to be above San Jose so that our other #1 round pick moves up.

A Red Wing win tonight would have helped us two ways.

    bummer!

  119. avatar isles316 says:

San Jose is going to lose in the first round so we might get a 22 or so pick.

  120. avatar Strummer's Army says:

any updates on any potential collerge fa’s the Isles may sign Chris?

  121. avatar Dan from Westchester says:

What a great night to be a fan!

You know this is super special for Joey – having spent so many years in Detroit. Congrats on a super performance!

. . and a nod to Gordon for giving Joey the game – same way he gave Mannino the nod in Chicago with his while family there.

  122. avatar Chris TMC says:

This game was fantastic- What an effort!!!! And BigMac with the game of his career- WOW. Absolutely outstanding.

Ben (119): JTLYK, regular season standings do not affect the draft order for the teams that go far in the playoffs- which is what San Jose is likely going to do!

  123. avatar isles316 says:

Chris #123, yes they do. When a team loses in the playoffs, the draft order of the teams that lose in the same round is determined by how a team finished in the regular season. So if San Jose loses in the first round and has the highest amount of regular season points, they will have the lowest draft pick of those 8 teams that lost.

  124. avatar Chris TMC says:

Yes Isles316, but thats why I said “for the teams that go far in the playoffs.” I dont htink San Jose is bowing out right away. But, I guess we will see! Personally, I dont think that whether a pick is #23 or #25 or whatever really makes as big of a difference IRL as it does to fans talking about it. I also dont think the Isles are going to use that pick, I think it will be paired off with 1-2 of the 2nd rounders to move up a bit. But, again, I guess we will see! :D

  125. avatar Matt says:

the avs are losing….again. are they going to win another game this year?

  126. avatar isles316 says:

Sorry. I hope you are right about moving up but I hope they move up only if they really like a guy.

  127. avatar KO21 says:

How about Joey mac and I would like to know what happened to Gervais…He is looking like a top #1 dman…I never thought he was this good…Now at least hes not just a goofy Islander who does PR, he actually can play…

    Joey mac was sensational!

  128. avatar Dave says:

Don’t get ahead of yourself KO21…

  129. avatar MotorcityIslesfan says:

Just got back from the Joe. Great game by Joey and the Isles. Just a few things. I saw a couple of Bailey and Okposo Jerseys in the crowd tonight. Bailey had quite a following over near the bench during he pregame skate (Spitfire fans now Islanders fans). Really nice that he got a goal. Funniest thing I heard from wings fans, (Where did the Islanders get this goalie from?) You would think it being “Hockeytowm” that they would know that Joey played for the Wings. The dumbfounded look on Wings fans faces that their team just got shut out at home by the Islanders (Priceless). Great effort all around tonight! A lot of nice compliments to the Islanders future listening to Detroit sports radio on the way home tonight.

  130. avatar Willis says:

Great job by the team and congrats to Joey for the shutout! Games like these put a smile on my face and make me look forward to next season :)

  131. avatar eye on the island says:

chris tmc, if you think the islanders are going to move up from san joses’s then it absolutely makes a tremendous difference as to whether a pick is 23 or 25.

the higher the pick the greater the value-and i do agree with you that i think they’ll move up

remember if pitt wins its first round that’ll be 8 or 9? in the first three rounds. more then enough to put together a package to get a higher ranked player(which i think that they should do)

hey motorcity i was there too tonight. what a crazy game! we had no business winning tonight, detroit had so many shots on goal and hit like 4 posts. joey mac did play awesome though, he made some sick saves. detroit fans were speechless, but mostly courteous to me in my isles jersey. i hung out at the two bars outside the arena, both of them were awesome places. i hope someday we’ll have some nice bars outside the new coliseum.

    Gentlemen…and ladies…and CB…

What we saw tonight (I only saw 1st Per.) was a TEAM being built.

    Islanders Vs. Red Wings.
    From the Joe.
Best team against the worst team.

Our team played a Stanley Cup game 7 final tonight.
For this year. For them at this stage of their development.

    Make a mental note.

These guys are learning how to win.

    Well done Scott Gordon.

    Just my opinion…..from….

Does anyone else think that Colorado may not win another game this year?

heh , 10 days ago it was phoenix dropping like a lead balloon , now its colorado .

looks like its gonna go right down to the final day of the season to determine 30th overall .the avs have won 31 games though -so at least we’d have that tiebreaker in our favor

kudos to joey mack for playing under some pressure .I’m sure he realizes Danis has warmed the hearts of islander fans so he seized the opportunity to remind us of how well he’s played for us this year .

    (128) Don’t discount the fact our best all-around player is the guy playing across the blue line from Gervais. Bruno is good but having an excellent d-man like Streit next to him makes him a lot better.

  137. Sweet win, and some awe inspiring saves by Joey Mac. I’m still pushing for Danis to win the backup job, but if it ends up being Mac, I won’t be disappointed.

It’s nice to beat your mentor.Or in other words Joey beating Ozzie yet with a shutout. Like I always say, “Watchout for the Islanders 2009-10″. (Hopfullly there will be a cup run)

  139. avatar KO21 says:

potvin, you’re right, Striet is an elite player and that is evident when you see him making other players better around him…You cant take away from Bruno and what he’s doing as of late…Its almost like he’s got a look of determination on his face…Ive noticed that about Bailey lately as well…
