KATE MURRAY: ISLANDERS BLOGGER
TOH website provides chance to cast your vote

3:15 pm - Is Kate Murray’s political career “shovel-ready”? Probably not, but the Hempstead Town Supervisor has created the web version of her anti-development, $100,000 taxpayer-paid direct mailpiece going out this week. (I thought she didn’t go to meetings because she didn’t want to take sides?).

My suggestion: if you agree with Murray, check her petition asking Tom Suozzi to chase the Obama Bucks he’ll never get to fix an outdated arena. If you disagree, click on the Town of Hempstead link at the bottom of the petition and send a courteous, passionate email stating your position.

Or better yet, call the Town of Hempstead at 516.489.5000. A calm, friendly, personal touch always works best.

Commenting here is fine, but pointless if you also don’t let the TOH know if you’re for or against what they’re doing.

I hope Wang is already on the phone with Queens, enough with the TOH

this website is such a joke. no way in hell they ever get stimulus money to rebuild a sports arena. kate murray is sniffing glue on the reg if she thinks that there’s ANY chance the government gives them a nickel for this when they have investors LINED UP to privately finance the majority of the project already!!

kate murrays up in the clouds.. this is a stall tactic, she has no intention of ever receiving money from the federal government. this is just a way to keep putting it off and distract islanders fans and the PEOPLE OF LONG ISLAND from the truth long enough until wang moves the team to queens. good luck getting federal $$ to pay for an arena that doesnt even house an NHL team..

  3. 3 pennst92

When push comes to shove, the Island’s going to lose it’s last link to major professional sports because Kate Murray’s playing party politics. If she takes the fall (loses the election), I wonder what kind of cushy job she’s getting in return for her loyalty…

  4. 4 pennst92

As an aside - no way the team moves to Queens when KC is ready to go…

  5. 5 Blizzard

KC is not going to happen. Nice new stadium but is KC ready for Hockey when they can barely support Baseball and foofball professional franchises? Cable contract? Not! No way, never just a smoke screen. Queens is a much better place for the Islanders. Keep there fanbase and be in NYC with mass transit etc. Get oof the KC crap already……

  6. 6 John

wow… that petition can be read 2 ways… do you want to reno the coliseum or not… and if not does it mean the town thinks Long Islanders don’t want the Islanders around? I live in Canada, but I don’t want to see the team leave the area… I grew up following the Isles and the team anywhere else just wouldn’t seem right. Anybody have any friends that work the ce-ment ponds in Jersey?

  7. 7 UIF

I’ve said before I don’t like the way either side has handled things, but that petition is a joke. I sent:

    Ms. Murray,

I understand you may have concerns about the Lighthouse project as currently proposed, but we all know a strict Coliseum renovation will not happen and is not under consideration by Islanders ownership. Your petition essentially attempts to trick Islanders fans into signing a document that promises to do something that will clearly never get done. It is disingenuous, and actually kind of insulting.

If you oppose the project, then please be willing to accept and communicate the consequence that the Islanders will no longer play in Uniondale.

Your current stance offers false hope to fans that have endured enough over recent years. Please consider revising your position to at least reflect the reality of the situation.

Again, this is not a demand to support the Lighthouse, just a request to be honest with your constituents and Islanders fans.

  8. 8 alex

I’ve figured it out! There is one republican man who can save the Lighthouse, the Islanders and Long Island without lifting a finger. Who is this god? CHUCK NORRIS!!!!!

  9. 9 mouthwash

anybody going to call that number?
I am seriously thinking about it right now.

  10. 10 trizzel

Miss Murray talks about creating jobs and getting money into the local economy with renovating the NVMC. The LHP would create far more jobs and a hell of a lot more money flowing into the economy then a renovated NVMC ever would. What happens to the jobs when the renovating is done they are gone. THe LHP will create jobs after the project is completed as well. This lady is clueless and serious is in a need of a headbutt to knock some sense into her empty head.

  11. 11 BillyIsle

just called them up and told them to stop clowning around. i told them instead of using hundreds of thousands to do a biased mailout. why not hire a few more people to read the 6000 page scope. now that would create some jobs!

  12. 12 Richie66

What I did was I filled out my name and address, but in the e-mail section I put “I want the entire Lighthouse project approved NOW, without federal help”

  13. 13 mouthwash

we should have an organized protest at the town hall. what do you guys think?

  14. 14 Aaron

did anyone notice that the exclamation point in that add is a modified version of the lighthouse logo? that is seriously bordering on evil, trying to trick people into thinking that petition is a product of the lighthouse group…pure evil

  15. 15 Spud 31

    CB,
I called that number and they asked for a department and I sounded kind of foolish not really knowing who to ask for. Any department or person we should request?

Aaron #14 wow good catch, just did the side-by-side and they did copy it, typical politics

  17. 17 ISLESFAN999

I just called and sent an email. The TOH is a joke. They are useless. We need to get this done somehow..

  18. 18 michael

there is a town of hempstead meeting april 14th at 10:30AM.. kate murray will be there.. do you cats know what a “FLASH MOB” is?????

  19. 19 Mikey B

Yeah I just called and logged my comment. From what I could tell I was sent to a recorded line. I spoke my piece, as a LI business owner whose kids are moving far away from Nassau county in droves…

I may copy and paste your comments # 7 and send them in as well.

This is very upsetting - I cannot believe she is actually suggesting (although without saying it) that the Islanders need to submit a new plan to the County… well, I guess she is saying the County needs to reopen the project bidding process and restructure the scope previously provided for. Actually, what Murray is saying with this “petition” is that she is a joke and has no position other than the amorphous, anything but that position she has obviously taken here.

We need to get the SBC and the other more prominent season ticket holders involved and let the TOH know they are messing with their biggest $$ providers and tax payers.

    (14) I sense some copyright/trademark infringement…

  21. 21 christian

Where on the TOH website do i go to email the town?

  22. 22 Valentino

if this was truly just about hockey as murray says it is…then why is she advocating renovating just the coliseum and only the coliseum??????

  23. 23 art

Maybe this is the time for Mr. Wang to speak up and let us know that he has to see the LH to its conclussion one outcome or the other. Stating that he is prepared to go thru with it– but if it doesn’t materialize within a reasonable timetable like this fall that he wants to keep the team on LI in Queens and eill do everything in his power to accomplish this.

  24. 24 Chris M

They bought the domain on March 23rd. What a joke. Was the website on the direct mail piece?

  25. 25 islesfan

    Just called.
Not sure if it will do any good, but it felt great to get a lot of things off my chest.

The operator connected me to a nice man, who I hope relays my message.
It was hard to stay calm, but I did.

Told him I was a lifelong LONG ISLANDER, and that the LH project must get approved.
Also told him I was at the Feb 24th TOH meeting and that Kate should have been also.
Also, that she needs to stop spending the taxpayers $$ on 240,000 direct mailings and instead work with Wang to get the LH approved. He took my name and number.

I really think EVERYONE on this blog needs to call. Relate your own story. Keep calm and to the point.
Get your friends, neighbors, family and ESPECIALLY anyone you know that LIVES in the TOH to call.
    CALL CALL CALL.
Let them know that we are all watching, and aware of what’s going on and demand action. Not words, or distractions or pointless petitions but ACTION.

  26. 26 Fist of Gillies

I enjoy how the bastardized the “Lighthouse Logo” as an exclamation point after the last “First”.

What it really represents is Kate Murray’s right middle finger being extended in the direction of Tom Suozzi.

BTW - The Lighthouse is DEAD. Queens or Bust.

  27. 27 Greg

22…Shes insane! She must have convinced herself that this is in the best interest of islanders fans. Either that, or the hope is that this letter goes out to the general public, who doesnt know that islanders fans want the lighthouse project, and by reading this they would absolutely assume that this is the best option and would make everyone happy.

This letter is basically putting words in our mouths and calling Wang a greedy business man who is not looking out for the town. Wang should send out a counter petition or even just a letter stating the facts and debunking this bogus petition. The people need to hear the counter argument or they will assume she is correct.

  28. 28 Richie66

I just called the TOH number and a lady answered. I asked to speak to someone who was in charge of setting up the petition website, I was sent to Kate Murrays secretary (I kid you not). I told her that the petition should have a comment section as the choices given do NOT fully represent how someone may want to vote. I told her that by simply not checking either of the “yes” boxes, that could make the TOH think that particular voter does not want to use federal money or do anything at all to the NVMC (ie saying “no” to the lighthouse project). The woman suggested that people go on the TOH website and can voice their opinion there, I told her that by having the comment section in this petition it would specifically have a true answer. The woman was very nice though and did say there would be town hall meeting where this could be discussed and I told her that the petition should be fixed now and have a valid response for the town meeting. I also explained that the exclamation point resembles the “official” Lighthouse Project logo and should be removed as it may confuse people into thinking that it was from the Lighthouse Project itself. She said she will pass on my info, not holding my breath

  29. 29 islesfan

    spud31 #15.
When the operator answered I told her I had a comment about the Lighthouse Project.
When the guy answered he said “Kate Murray’s Helpline”.
If you get through to a real person, I would just ask for Kate Murray’s Helpline.

Maybe wee should point out to her that the stimulus money would be better spent on, Oh, I don’t know, aging bridges? Horrible roads? An access highway from the meadow to the LH? the LIRR stations?

What really make me wonder is why no other town with available land hasn’t made an offer? Smithtown/Hauppauge? Huntinton/Commack? Islip/Deep Park?
They are in the process of building the worlds largest continuous stretch of Malls/Box stores along the Commack rd corridor, along the LIRR no less.
is there something were are not being told??

Yogi Berra might say:” That Lighthouse area is too crowded, nobody goes there anymore.”
3000 more cars added to the area each & every rush hour without any real thought of a mass transit plan other than a ‘tram’. How can Nassau create a HUB if it does not address mass transit in a more realistic way other than adding more entrance & exit ramps to the existing over crowded Meadowbrook Pky. There is no plan to widen the MB Parkway, other than maybe from the southern State pky, up to Hemp. tpk & that will not even take care of present day traffic problems. Do you really think this complex will help the local economy? A few construction jobs for the next 10 years, then low paying service (retail) type jobs will be needed there. The majority of buildings will be for housing, Supt. & porters needed! That will keep our young from fleeing! Office space will bring in tenants from the surrounding areas & the people who already work for them; maybe some jobs will be added.
I might be wrong, but the TOH might be right in trying to just renovate the Coliseum. They might even see to it that a few restaurants are added nearby, some bodegas, rib joints, nail places, heck, a Disney park or a Walmart SuperCenter would be great, Kate, why did you stop with the renovation idea! :)
Now this is really getting out of hand, Mr. Wang, you have your hands full!!

  34. 34 misterpink

Nice little comment they stuck in there comparing the Lighthouse project to Lefrak City!@$@!

As a long islander I just feel dirty right now. Sad and dirty.

  35. 35 Makela24

Pretty Sad. This proves why politicians should not have access to money. Two self made business people (Wang and Rechler Family) will not put $$$ into just coliseum renovation because it is losing proposition with out other components. There is a reason why the projects that are being contemplated are only “shovel ready”..because no private entity would invest in it. It is a shame given we are going to have to pay back the money some day.

  36. 36 Steve

Well best I could write without sending an email with my ture feeling and not even have a chance of it being read.

    Dear Kate,
First let me start by saying I am a Long Islander and have been since 1969. I am an Islander fan and have been since 1976 or at least that is as far back as I can remember. Whether you agree with the lighthouse or not I think your methods of dealing with it are horrible. You’re hiding behind lawyers and statements like “conflict of interest” are just so sad. Taking out newspaper ads and driving meaningless petitions which seem to be driven more by political ambitions than anything else. This perception leads be to believe you care more about the position you hold then the town you are supposed to be supervising.
You were elected to lead so please start leading. Stand up for yourself and stop hiding. Even if I feel you are completely wrong which of course I do. The actions you have taken so far are probably going to mean a loss of a lot more than just the NY Islanders. The project has had so many outreach events , yes it would be like swimming into shark infested waters for you but at least people will know where you stand and more importantly why. We don’t need to hear about this from your lawyers or read about it in politically motivated news articles we need to hear it from you so at least we as long islanders can respond.
    Thank you
    Steve

  37. 37 mouthwash

I called. i said that i didn’t like how Kate Murray was using tax payer money creating a site and petition and using the islanders in a political game.

It’s no big deal people. Just call.

  38. 38 TuxTax

If Nassau County owns the property and Nassau County should in theory outrule the Town, then why is this paper pusher from Hell acting like the damn Soup Nazi. No Lighthouse for you!

By Definition: The supervisor serves as the chief executive officer of town government. She presides at all town board meetings, directing the legislative and administrative functions of that body. The supervisor also oversees the day-to-day operations of a municipal government of 24 departments, employing just under 2,000 people, and providing services to some 762,000 residents. As the chief financial officer of the township, the supervisor is responsible for the creation and the implementation of a town budget of $383.5 million.

Who died and made you god?

  39. 39 alex

this is interesting! Found it of of B.D. Gallof’s site!

Source: “The NY State constitution has a provision where the state could actually seize the Lighthouse property and make it it’s own town. There only needs to be permission by the area being annexed, not the town from which it’s annexed.”

  40. 40 mouthwash

I live in nassau, but not TOH, but I told the guy that didn’t matter since it’s a Nassau county issue and also a federal issue since she is seeking stimulus money.

  41. 41 Brother Rat

For those calling and writing–do NOT forget to call/write/lobby your Councilperson! It’s important to see what their stances are on this…Goosby has voted with her endorsement of Murray’s mailing. I found out today that Cullen is in the same boat.

I called the TOH/Kate Murray Helpline yesterday and spoke with an older gentleman, Carl. While he will let you rant, please be courteous…I have no idea if he actually takes down *what* you say, but you will have to state your name, address, phone number, etc. He and I also argued about NYS SEQR law and the TOH Code (did you know the Supervisor’s powers are not defined in the TOH Code, etc.). You should check out the Town Code, which does not provide for removal procedures for Supervisor (although there’s a presumption for removal for felony conviction), only for appointment when Supervisors leave mid-term (which is how Murray got appointed, as well as her predecessors Guardino, Peterson, etc.).

Since Angie Cullen’s my Councilmember, I also called to hear what her stance was. I’ve met her a few times at the Wantagh Library at town events. The lady at Cullen’s office, Judy, said that she had to check to see what Cullen’s “position” was. Judy left me a voicemail last night, and I called back today to have Judy nicely read me a prepared statement, pretty much reiterating Murray’s stance–we should do the Coliseum first, the TOH is doing its job and can’t be rushed, etc. I told her how sickened I was that she (Cullen) was advocating for a plan that was not on the table, and then ranted politely for a bit in support of the Lighthouse.

I’m going to write personal letters to both, and I suggest you all do the same.

    Thanks for the forum, CB!

  42. 42 Froggy

I called earlier today and spoke with someone on the helpline. They were more than nice but will not provide any answers. They are deflectors.

Does anybody know when the next TOH meeting will be held when the Lighthouse Project will be discussed?

  43. 43 michael

i called murrays office more times than i can imagine.. you should all call daily and let them know how important the islanders are to us and if they leave we’re leaving too!! good-bye tax dollars.

  44. 44 Bryan

you all have to do what I do. let her know you are infact a registered voter. if you arent registered to vote do so now. nobody cares about your opinion if you dont have the power to stop them from stealing our tax dollars.

  45. 45 Patrick Flatleaver

OR.. sign the petition to stop Kate Murray!

    http://www.ipetitions.com/petition/StopKateMurray/

  46. 46 blitz

Lots of buzzwords, possible trademark infringement, ’stimulus,’ obama, a response that essentially directed to answer ‘yes’ in her favor eitherway, the town is playing the david vs. goliath card, and finally, preying on the ignorance of residents.

Sadly, putting LI’ers first would actually represent building the Lighthouse and stepping into the 21st century of urbanization.

I guess TOH loves crappy strip malls galore, houses turned into commercial use, etc.

  47. 47 John R.

CB, I sent a message but it was in the website comments form which told me only website related comments would be read. I then went to where they said Kate would get the message and it asked for my phone number, e-mail, address, etc. Are they kidding? First off I don’t want to give them my phone number (making it seem like I actually want a call and an explanation of her position, which I am already aware of and upset by) but if you don’t they won’t accept the message. Secondly, I’m from NY State but I do not live on Long Island so they probably won’t take my message seriously sense I’m not a TOH taxpayer and they don’t need my vote. I live a half hour north of the city yet I feel like I have no voice.

  48. 48 Jeff1

What happened to the funny Kate Murray wikipedia entry that was up yesterday. The “fat pig fat pig … ” portion was funny but i can understand why that was taken down. But the best part was the picture of her. That is missing as well. Why would they take that down.

  49. 49 19 ISLE in NJ 22

I’m getting the sinking feeling that Wang is starting to lose on this issue … the same feeling I get from the Isles catching Colorado and Tampa.

Since Murray has finally let out how she feels about the project in not so many words … I hazard a guess that Wang may soon me zipping over to Queens to hear their offer.

The thing about Queens that scares me isn’t starting the SEQRA over again (That is actually already done as far as I know) … but that the City of NY will have a say … and since “The City” leases out the Garden to the Dolans … they may have an issue with the Isles inside city limits. Just saying.

  50. 50 19 ISLE in NJ 22

Looking forward to the Marathon live commentary … I hope I get back home intime before the end of tonight’s game … Tonight is the deciding game of my league’s hockey championship… if we had won on Tuesday we wouldn’t have to play tonight so it sucks I’m going to miss another live game commentary.

  51. 51 Kepa

    CB,
Sorry if this has been asked in this thread or any other, but I have always felt very helpless when it comes to writing Kate Murray because I m not a TOH resident… I don’t even live in Nassau, can a non-TOH resident really make an impact with these letters? Or is their a better way for those like myself to support the lighthouse.

  52. 52 Jack

I have not previously commented before but I do read this blog every day. Great job. Below is what I posted on the TOH website and the link.

    http://toh.li/content/home/contact.html

I do not understand Ms. Murray’s position against the proposed Lighthouse development. As a small business owner (I own an insurance agency in Garden City) in the Town of Hempstead, this could be very good for thousands of small businesses. As a resident (Lynrook), taxes are killing me and this type of growth will surely add revenue to help with taxes. And as a citizen, adding an attraction destination is surely good for the quality of life here. Not doing anything and losing what we have (Islanders) only takes away from our quality of life. Please reconsider your objections.

    Sincerely,
    Jack Glanzer

  53. 53 John R.

I don’t know how the Dolans would have a problem when there are over 9 MILLION people living in the city. But he is THAT greedy I guess.

  54. 54 Madchef

The heck with Katie Murray and the LH. If it is not going to happen stop stringing it along. My question is moving to Queens a solid viable option or just some made up idea. On another note so hard wanting the isles to lose but c’mon guys honestly getting this first pick is about as close to a triumph we can get this season.

  55. 55 islesfan

    Jack- #52.
    Thanks for an awesome letter.
You are EXACTLY the kind of person that needs to be heard from.
Please share your story with your neighbors, family, friends and business associates and get them to call ,write, and attend the TOH public hearings when they happen.

Not that other voices don’t matter as much, but as a TOH resident AND Business owner, you are affected by this project in every way.

    Thank you and BRAVO.

  56. 56 19 ISLE in NJ 22

I have relatives in the Town of Hempstead and Town of Oyster Bay … they are what you’d call … casual Islander fans … They go to a game every couple of years … they are more Die Hard Yankee and Giant fans … but I’m going to do my best to get them to be positively vocal about the Light House … I couldn’t believe when I talked to them around Christmas that NONE of them knew that much about it … they just thought it was a hotel with a renovated NVMC … Now they think it’s kinda neat … but they aren’t die hards that would go out of their way to support or oppose it … what can we do to energize the luke warm folks?

  57. 57 blitz

Kinda odd that the ‘welcome’ page on the TOH website does not even identify one of the town’s biggest and most marketable business: the ONLY major professional sports franchise on Long Island.

Seems to me that would be something a town would be braggin about, not omitting it.

  58. 58 teddyfusi

Stop. Stop trying to fool your constituency into supporting a plan that no one wants. Attempt to breakaway from your hack partisan nature for once in your lackluster career, and help tax paying citizens get the project they want. I’ll be turning 18 this sunday and my only sanctuary is that I’ll be able to help in efforts to displace you Mrs. Murrary. Redemptions only form will come in that of support of the Lighthouse project. Thank you and good day.

Mildly off topic .. Who’s bright idea was it to register the Town’s official website with a Liechtenstein domain suffix?

I called yesterday, and I called today and I’m going to call tommorrow. I’m going to call everyday until I can’t dial the phone anymore. 63. 63 KO21

You wouldn’t believe it but, I just read the petition and I signed the petition…I disagree with some of what she says and I do think shes just taking the EASY way out but I, for one, am a very passionate Isles fan who would literally contemplate “suicide” if they leave Long Island so if we can get stimulus funds to renovate the Coliseum so then lets gets it done..That money is ours and don’t tell me one Islander fan here wouldn’t want to be able to have a brand new place built to ensure they stay and would take the LHP 2nd…Charles Wang can then bargain for the LHP…If she gets this done, I hate to say it but I would be thanking the guy…On the other hand as I think of it Wang can just take em out anyway, he owns them ansd he needs to make money…So I guess I maybe I shouldnt have signed it, I kdont know, wtf???Im confused

  64. 64 KO21

I hate to say it but CB, you ind of mislead us, that petition is good…It isnt a bad thing for Islander fans…

  65. 65 KO21

The more I ponder I realize Mr Murray is just trying to get “us Islander fans” off her chest…Then again, this project is massive and might take allot of time to get thru al the BS and maybe it is just impossible to get it done in Wangs time frame so this might be a feasible strategy…The problem is Wang will use the losses he has taken to justify takeing them away…

CB, I hope you read this, but you might want to do an investigation on SMG (Spectacor Management Group) and Alfonse D’Amato. Their relationship and I understand that D’Amato’s has a close person who is on SMG’s payrole. This might be one of the reasons why the TOH is acting the way they do. D’Amato still has a lot of power along with Joseph Mondello. I can’t really get involved with an investigation because I have family members that work for the town and I don’t want them to lose their jobs, but somebody please look into all this. I posted this on that Lettherebelighthouse blog as well. somebody please investigate!!

  68. 68 b-ri

That site is pretty funny. It really makes you realize what idiots the town takes us for. They mention apartments, office space, and people as a bad thing? how is that bad? all of those things lead to one thing! MONEY! MONEY YOU IDIOTS AT TOH MONEY! TAX REVENUE! MONEY! wow! furthermore it says that renovating the coliseum will create jobs…I wonder if they realize that doing half of the lighthouse project would employ 10X the amount of people for much much longer. I cannot wait to vote to hopefully get this woman pushed out of office.

Both sides went about this wrong Murray is right if Wang cared about the Islanders he would renovate the arena 1st then worry about the surrounding area…this is not what Wang wants though he cares nothing for the TEAM he cares about the LAND around it.
Please Wang, keep the islanders where they are, renovate the arena and then work on developing the area around it. If it really is worth it you’ll get it done eventually.
Murray is also handling this horrifically and its terrible it took TEN YEARS to finally get some clarity on the matter.

…also Queens wont happen..why do you think the Dolans would let that happen?

OH what a JOKE! The TOH doesn’t even have it’s own servers? They lease space on a bandwith package box! ROFLMAO! They truely ARE in the 1950’s. Well if a few hundred people a day go there we’ll keep it down in perpetuity OR run their bandwith bill through the roof! LOL

KO21 - You’re a fool to have signed it. There is no way a referbished or new arena with the current lease AND a cup winning team in there will ever make money. The arena and site as is or a new arena alone will for ever be a loss leader and currently costs the COUNTY $1+ million in losses per anum. Research before you sign anything!

#70, I understand your concern that Wang should develop the arena first, but why should a private guy redevelop a county owned arena and not get something else in return? it doesn’t make sense.

I know calm and reason works best, but I flamed her anyway. After the Newsday editorial, I felt the need to get my shots in. I didn’t want to reason with her, I want to pound her and will support her opponent, whoever it is. Enough talk, let’s get it on.

KO21 (63)- I cannot believe you actually believed her ridiculous ploy. Signing that dopey petition was you literally requesting that your government do something that is competely and unquestionable futile- ask for stimulus funds for something that is NOT “stimulus”. Dont you see? That petition is NOT about saving the Islanders, it is about asking for federal stimulus money INSTEAD OF saving the Islanders. I wish that you could see that you have been deceived… and now, by signing that silly petition, you have sent your disapproval for the project to your county representatives and registered that you would rather the government chase a futile pipedream than actually accomplish anything. :(

Funny how if you CLEAR the “put long islanders first petition form” it fills in the Yes check boxes for you. I am sure a YES is mandatory to even submit the petition.

  76. 76 ALL ISLANDER FANS REVOLT!!!

    Dear Kate Murray,
” I am all for you putting in your “resignation”.
Mr Charles Wang has been nothing but a saint for saving the Islanders franchise…He was promised if he bought the franchise and kept them on Long Island they would rebuild the area…He has lost 20 million a year every year since he purchased the team and I am thankful to him…If he has to remove the team from Long Island it will be your fault Mrs Murray…That petition is a blatant attempt to screw over Mr. Wang…I have plenty of reasons to support this project…Most importantly, It will help stimulate our economy but you just don’t care, you make enough money so why would you be concerned about Long Islands poverty stricken, jobless and under paid workers???Why should you be concerned about the people you are supposed to represent???I already lost the bulk of my family to North Carolina and Florida…I miss them and I wonder what is keeping me…The
“Lighthouse Project” will definitely have an impact on my moving or not and the Islanders being on Long Island is a major part of what makes LI great…It is part of our identity…Don’t strip us of our identity and let Mr Wang finance this project or you will not hear the end of it…We will organize and we will make you sorry for your deceit and lies and half truths you posted on your petition…You know darn well there will be no stimulus money to rebuild an arena for a franchise that loses money…You know darn well this wont work if the owner cant make a profit..If you don’t realize this you are incompetent and you should resign…If you do indeed know it’s not possible to just rebuild the Coliseum without making it worth it for anyone to actually own the team then you are just corrupt and you should turn yourself into the Hempstead Jail…
