YOU PLAY EDITOR: Assign Point Blank to
Bridgeport for Game 4, or Not; Comeau cleared

by admin on April 21st, 2009 at 8:10 pm

As he predicted to us on Friday at the Coliseum, Blake Comeau (fractured wrist) has been cleared to play and has been officially re-assigned to Bridgeport. No word yet if he’ll be in the lineup Wednesday night.

We’re now in a twilight zone where every story posted automatically morphs into a thread about Tavares, Hedman and the draft. The vibe I felt off the coverage by Kevin Schultz and I of the first three games of the Sound Tigers’ playoffs led me to believe maybe there isn’t a big audience for it. So tonight you are the managing editor. Would you like Point Blank to cover Game 4 in Bridgeport against Wilkes-Barre/Scranton live from the Arena at Harbor Yard? One response per reader, on this topic only. I will take your direction.

  2. avatar dmen77 says:

It’s playoff hockey and some of those guys in B-port are our team’s future.

    YES!

  3. avatar Shoogah says:

    Yes! Let’s go Ti-gers!

  4. avatar Joe fred va says:

No, I would rather endorse you CB as the next TOH Supervisor!!! Somebody must run against Murray, why not you!! :)

  5. avatar The Ice Man says:

Please continue to give us the dirt on the kids and how they are progressing – so, yes, cover the AHL Game 4 for the SoundTigers.

  6. avatar Hale says:

yes…i am in 115 row a stop by and say hi!!

  7. avatar WildcatChris says:

At this point in the game, talks about who we will draft will be the nature of the beast until the draft itself.

Despite that, having updates on the game and some of the world famous Botta insights would be great.

Thanks CB for all that you do!

    -CM

  8. avatar bergie20 says:

i honestly can’t get into the ahl playoffs. i’ll save you some toll money by saying no.

  9. avatar Chris TMC says:

I have enjoyed reading about the games, I attended the two of them here, so yeah Id definitely enjoy reading about game 4.

  10. avatar Tim says:

Yes…I do not post much but read every day and enjoyed the recaps of the first 3 games.

  11. avatar 19 ISLE in NJ 22 says:

That is your call CB … hard to ask ya to run up to Bridgeport to call the game for us … Maybe Fornabaio can co-host and guest moderate with ya as you blog from the comfort of your home.
    ******
That being said CB … if for some reason the Knights are able to make it to the OHL finals … we do request a Point Blank Knight up in London Ontario :-D j/k

To tell ya the truth … I really want the Knights to go head to head with Brampton .. a lil Tavares vs. Duchene straight up … now that would be interesting.

  12. avatar Chris A says:

Big game…I’d go if I were you

  13. avatar Nyles says:

If there is nothing else you can tell me, then yea.

  14. avatar Harrison says:

  18. avatar greg says:

would love to know how DiBo plays, so yeah definitely. Went to the game on friday and it was fun. If I had a boat, it would take me 15 minutes to get to bridgeport to watch the game. Now that would be a good night.

  19. avatar Kal says:

No..as much as I care to hear about how our younger players are progressing, I could care less on a game by game basis how Bridgeport does. Im much MORE interested to hear more about Tavheduch and stories/tales about current Isles players…

  20. avatar Macch says:

Depends if Dibo and some other ATOs are playing. Even than i’m interested in Joensuu. Hmm sure why not

  21. avatar Will C says:

State of the isles overall with BP coverage. And a lighthouse update. Give us a good story about Glenn Healy too.

  22. avatar mike says:

Yes, but I’d understand if you bail. We are not paying your tolls and gas, but if you took a collection, I’m sure we’d chip in.

Yes if DiBenedetto is playing. I am curious about him.

    The game’s the thing.

  29. avatar PaulM says:

Yes you should be there. The team has played well all year and needs all of the support it can get.

  30. avatar Tom D 37 says:

Yes. But, we are 2 months away from one of our biggest drafts ever. Also, there is the lighthouse mess. So, my mind is more focused on those things than the AHL playoffs. I’d like to have coverage of all those things, even how the Islander players are doing at the WC. Heck, what other Islanders are in WC other than Streit And Okposo? I don’t even know, I also want to know if Hedman is playing or if his season is over.

  31. avatar Nor says:

    Who are Tavares and Hedman?

  32. avatar Scott from Newburgh says:

I say yes. It’s good to hear how our future players are doing.

  33. avatar Hipster Doofus says:

    Yes.

  34. avatar isles14 says:

    Yes.

  35. avatar Dorfer81 says:

I haven’t felt the need to comment on those particular blogs but I do read and enjoy the BST coverage.

  36. avatar Alex Kinkead says:

Yes I want the coverage. I went to the first two games at the Coliseum and I want to see them take the series and I will go to Bridgeport for Round Two.

  37. avatar Ian says:

I enjoy hearing about and being able to get good updates on our prospects playoff experience while stuck in school outside of islander country.

  38. avatar dist1ump says:

From what I heard from a team source was that Blake never did fracture his wrist. It was badly swollen.

  39. avatar Brooks Simpson says:

Yes. Frankly, I think we’re all talked out about the other topic.

  40. avatar CT Isles Fan says:

    Lets go Tigers!

  41. avatar Bill Ct says:

    Yes.
We will see many of tomorrows team in NVMC next year.

  42. avatar mapisles2025 says:

Yes. I like your thoughts on the kids, such as dibo.

  43. avatar Dave says:

    Yes, let’s go Bridgeport!

  44. avatar hathead68 says:

Absolutely! Hopefully some of these guys are going to become productive members of the Islanders soon.

  45. avatar JT says:

Yes, and if you have time before the game get some pizza at Frank Pepe’s in New Haven. Also, thanks for all of your hard work this year. You have given us unprecedented access to all things Islanders and brought us closer to the team (even during a painful season). I really hope you continue this next season and beyond.

    JT

  46. avatar Will Teese says:

    Yes please :)

  47. avatar HilbertSnipe says:

I don’t think there are any nay-sayers. I say hells yeah!

  49. avatar Angelos says:

    Yes.

  50. avatar DavidNYC says:

    Definitely, please cover the game!

  51. avatar nyislanders93 says:

Yes, it is a nice topic change from the usual Tavares-Hedman debate.

  52. avatar rb says:

very interested to read, but tough for anyone to comment not having seen the games

  53. avatar UIF says:

I’m with (40)…don’t think I’ve commented on those blogs, but I’ve read them with interest. I would definitely read if you cover the game, and will throw up a comment or two to show support for those types of stories.

  54. avatar Moose says:

CB,I need no more “John Tavares sweat drops converted to solve desert drought” headlines. Talk about a hockey game whenever you can. PLEASE!

  55. avatar Sumo Goalie says:

YES, of course! GO SOUND TIGERS!

  56. avatar Jay says:

    Yes, Lets go Tigers!

  57. avatar Brother Rat says:

CB, I’d be more interested in the IIHF tourney and its ramp-up games. Any chance of heading to Switzerland rather than Bridgeport? Lord knows the food, hospitality, and majestic views of the HarborYards is hard to beat, but you can suck it up and endure the Swiss, eh?

  58. avatar Steve K. says:

    what 22 said

  59. avatar Bob Bassen says:

    Yes, please.
    Thank you as always.

  60. avatar onesinceforty says:

    Please Cover the Game

  61. avatar Ian says:

Keep up the Sound Tigers coverage, we love it!

  62. avatar nystrom23 says:

Keep the sound tigers….keep goin guys!!

  63. avatar Neil says:

I can’t say I’m that into the AHL playoffs, but I would say to be careful to write for your readers, not just your commenters

  64. avatar michael says:

Yea I want the news on the farm. Keep up the Tigers updates.

  65. avatar Jim M says:

Definately!! Mostly interested in an in-depth report on how Dibo plays

  66. avatar Pat says:

Cover the game. You never know who you might run into at the game and get some good material for the blog. I am interested in reading about the game

  67. avatar JKP on LI says:

I say cover the game. I like reading about it, even if it’s after the fact.

  68. I love reading about the recaps of games especially since I can’t go myself. It’s always nice to read about how our prospects are doing. I always pay close attention to what you write about them.

  69. avatar Ben says:

    Yes please!

  70. avatar Frank James says:

    Cover the game.

  71. avatar Steve says:

Go Tigers Go! You are our eyes and ears!

  72. avatar Bob says:

I like the coverage of Bridgeport, but still haven’t had enough of the Hedman/Tavares and now Duchene debate yet. Keep up the good work Chris.

  73. avatar Eric says:

Please go! Yes! I enjoyed the game on Sat night even though many others did not show! Pascal Morency, Kyle Okposo—it was great! I wanna hear all about the Tiger tying the series!

  74. avatar Greg says:

yes, please cover it…and also cover some of the world championships too please.

  75. avatar IslesFanInBkNY says:

Whoever wants to know the score or follow this game can do so on the radio, if CB wants have some more important thing to do, so be it.

  76. avatar Strummer's Army says:

CB, it wasn’t that we didn’t have interest because we have a ton of interest in it but honestly (and no offense to Kevin) the coverage was not very good.

  77. avatar Isle_in_LA says:

Yes. They might not get the amount of comments that other articles do, but I’m sure all of the faithful read them.

  78. avatar Obs says:

    Yub Yub, Yes.

  79. avatar Travelchic59 says:

CB, I enjoy whatever you write about, so if you feel like taking a ride to the Bridge, go for it.

  80. avatar bryan c says:

everybody else has pretty much said yes and so do i

  81. avatar geduffer says:

I’d say yes. I’d even drive you up there so I could see the game too. You would just need to be able to ride in a VW with the Grateful Dead, I mean Faceoff on Home Ice blaring out of the speakers.

  82. avatar Eric Cup says:

Make the trip CB. We could all use the break from draft talk – GO TIGERS!

  83. avatar Sean says:

yes. take our minds of tavares hedman

  84. avatar MT says:

I would love it CB. I loved the post-game post from the other day with Cappy

  85. avatar Booten says:

I’m fine with PB covering BP games. I mean new info on the draft/Tavares/Hedmen etc. isn’t gonna come out everyday till June 26th (although that’d be great) and it’s nice to know how the kids are doing.

  86. avatar doc says:

Good for Blake Comeau!!! Way to show some heart, charactor and conviction. He could easily have packed it in and said “see ya next year” but he’s showing some real maturity and guts.

    DOC

  87. avatar 7th Woman says:

I’m hoping the game is a good one! they need another win. And anyone that can go, including CB, should.

Ticket and other information and ways to follow the Sound Tigers can be found on the Islanders main website along with a cool little item about Mark Streit getting a goal and an assist for Switzerland as they beat Team USA today. Yep. He’s a keeper. :o )

  88. avatar Matt says:

Please continue BP coverage (especially highlighting the kids who will be on the Island soon).

Quick aside – why does a horn go off for San Jose goals in Anaheim (it has happened on both SJ goals tonight)?

  89. avatar Smokey says:

I’d say yes. Important Isles prospects possibly playing in that game, also. You could tell us how DiBo looks, for instance.

  90. avatar Michael B. says:

CB, you do an awesome job, really. But rather than toiling over blogging everything that happens in the AHL games, why not just report after the game how certain prospects played?

I’m not going to lie, I have no interest in the final out come of the game. I think I speak for most Isles fans when I say that what we care about is the draft and how our prospects are progressing in the minors, or wherever they may be.

Just have a nice post-game analysis of how certain prospects played and who stood and and such.

Keep up the awesome work, CB! Your site is awesome!

    -Michael

  91. avatar Bri on Li says:

oh what the heck, go for it CB!

  92. avatar Don says:

Absolutely yes! Some of us are focused on the here and now, not the not here for another two months.

  93. avatar mm30 says:

Yes,more tigers…also would love to see more draft talk.

  94. avatar Darthziggy says:

CB, I would definitely appreciate your insights to the game. Also, if you need some info from Friday night, I’ll be on hand in Wilkes-Barre, sporting my bright orange Isles jersey in the midst of the Pens white-out.

  95. avatar KLO says:

The post about the games makes for a good read since the games arent really covered anywhere esle. More importantly you would cover them from the angle that interests me the most: the future of the isles

  96. avatar Oliver says:

Yes cover the game. Any chance we can get a guest blog from one of the Islanders playing in the IIHF?

  97. avatar Joe Interlandi says:

    Yes

  98. avatar Mike from Riverhead says:

Yes, since this blog is the only way I’m getting coverage of the Sound Tigers play-off run.

  99. avatar redbull says:

i’d rather you disguise yourself and follow brian burke around for a week, report on everything you see and hear….and feel free to embellish to make the editors happy.

if your “employer” won’t pick-up the tab…yes, go to BP.

note: it would be interesting to cover a tavares or duchene game, especially if one makes the mem cup!

  100. avatar izzo says:

I’ll be honest, I went to Friday’s game and simply couldn’t get into it. But I say yes. It gives Islander fans something to do instead of shout “TAVARES” randomly.

  101. avatar JB says:

    Yes. So much yes.

  102. avatar Swan says:

    Yes, of course.

  103. avatar mtrico says:

    Absolutely!

  104. avatar Moose says:

CB, just adding an answer to this question!

#97, Versus adds a sound effect of a goal horn WHENEVER a visiting team scores, and they’ve done this as long as they’ve had the NHL on their network. It’s the most annoying thing they do, IMO, and that’s saying a lot.

  105. avatar johnRVC says:

yes if you can find the time to post about the islanders playing in the Worlds right now.

  106. avatar The real JD says:

CB get your butt to Bridgeport.

  107. avatar Greg says:

yes!, id watch it on tv if I could

  108. avatar RobsIsles says:

YES!! Would like the coverage of the baby Isles. Hoping Blake is in the lineup tonight. That would be a huge boost in the arm for the baby Isles. Let’s get this thing tied up 2-2. Lets go Boys.

  109. avatar randy boyd says:

Although I haven’t commented on the Sound Tigers blogs, I have read every one of them. I was constantly checking my blackberry hoping for live updates while at the last two Devils home playoff games. (hopefully in a year or two I can skip Newark and watch some playoff action where it belongs!!!) Please continue the coverage.

  110. avatar steve says:

    Cover it. And cover Tav/Hed/Chene.

  111. avatar Marc from Troy says:

Add another vote for coverage of tonight’s game, please.

I also share the frustration of how comments on no matter the topic have been turning to… you know. As such, I’ve been avoiding the comments, but have been reading the B’Port stories with much interest.

If you (or Kevin) cover it, CB, I’ll be reading. Thanks.

  112. avatar the1gwiz says:

Would love coverage. I agree with what some others have said, it’s tough to show interest through comments on a game we’re not seeing, but I’m definitely interested in what’s going on with the game as it happens.

  113. avatar Darren says:

    Go…Stop being lazy! =)

  114. avatar Bill says:

Yes. This is my first post on PB, but I am an everyday reader. Most days, I check back multiple times.

Reading your coverage of the Soundtigers gives me, and other fans, insight into what is in the future for the Isles. Living near Rochester, I don’t get any other way to follow our developing players.

Thanks for all you do! Keep it up.

  115. avatar Kevin says:

Yes..Pls give us updates/info on Bridgeport Game 4…

  116. avatar Zeike says:

Yes – very interested to hear about how the future Isles are performing – both the good and the bad.

  117. avatar Willis says:

I’d like to hear about the game.

(I’d also love to see if we can have a “Tavares free” week or something. OVERKILL.)

  118. avatar Dan says:

    yes cover it
