Everyone has missed the point, Dean Chynoweth is being brought in to work the Lighthouse Project. As Keen’s reported, as GM he was responsible for “a newly renovated arena,(and) a brand new dressing room and training facility” .

Big deal, another rookie coach who was an average dman at best. But hey…he is a nice guy and that is all that matter to so many Islanders fans. Lets all by best buddies, it does not matter how much they suck.

Hey Vukota, no dig at you, but our fanbase has to stop being so negative. Should be a good hire, but who knows until we see results. Sorry CB if i ruffle feathers here, but I hate the bad attitude on most fans who post here. It makes a guy wonder why he is a fan when all you see in posts in bashing of the teams decisions. I will always be an islanders fan, til the day i die, and will be glad that i am also.
Thanks for doing such a great job on your blog, letting someone like me have an opinion.

#41, Laviolette wasn’t a no name when Carolina hired him, Carolina let him have his growing pains with another team.I will wait on Blysma, 18 or so NHL regular season games with Crosby, Malkin, Gonchar, Orpik, Fluery, Kunitz, and a team went to the finals last year. Time will tell

Good move by Deano.

If the Isles do well, some Isles fans will say it’s because of Deano’s input to our defensive game.

If they don’t, someone will say it’s because of Gorton and should be replaced by Deano.

Not many established coaches are going to want a position with a rebuilding team like the Islanders. Also, not for nothing…. but two of the Islanders recent “no name” hires have won cups. It’s not always about experience, and Dean Chynoweth has a good rep as a solid coach and teacher. He was a hard worker here, and one tough SOB to boot.
