i wonder if wang would move the isles to brooklyn or sell to ratner since wang would not have the revenue from the lighthouse project.

Apparently the lighthouse project is not the only arena project in NY to make news today. Bruce Rattner has scalled down his design of the Barclay Center in an effort to appease the city and borough of Brooklyn. The new plans will be revealed at the end of the month and he hopes to break ground later this year. We may have a second option after all!

Hopefully the point is driven home that the county WANTS a project like this done. It was voted on 16-2. Also most importantly my seats at the NVMC are disgusting and I had a mouse in my row for the last 4 games…for crissakes put the old place out of our misery

I don’t think anything really useful from a fans standpoint is going to come out of this meeting.

Kate Murray is going to explain how the new construction apprval process works. She’ll further reiterate that his self made deadline will have no affect on the approval process whatsoever.

Scale down, move the drop dead back at least 6 months or move to Willets Point. Charles B. Wang’s options are very, very clear.

Hopefully he fills fans in on what the state of New York Islander hockey is. It’s hard to REALLY understand what’s going on. Kate Murray doesn’t say much, Charles B. Wang is retched communicator. Very frustrating.

Hopefully John Tavares makes everything all better.

Honestly though this project would benefit all of Long Island. If they created a nice entertainment zone at the LHP, you could really make a day out of it. Dont you think a Dave & Busters would love to be a part of it. And I dont know if anyone else is familiar with it, but create a Long Island version of New Roc City.
Plus if the Islanders left NCVM in ’15, the Old Barn would become even more rundown then it is now, and would you want to go and take your kids to see the circus in that??

it’s really nice to see multiple individuals i’ve held in pretty low regard stepping up and showing some sort of support to get things done here. the governor, kate murray, and gary bettman saying/doing things that DON’T piss me off all on the same day is seriously a remarkable thing. hopefully this is a positive sign of things to come!

One other option could be Brooklyn if Bruce Rattner ever completes the Barclay Center. Which is in a tango similar to the lighthouse. The last time I heard Rattner won a court decision that might lead to a groundbreaking soon. That is unless there is a stay from another court or something.

I have to admit that after a decade of legislative hearings and ownership changes I myself am beginning to think that this may not happen. For the first time I think we are at a crossroads, if this round of meetings doesn’t lead to a resolution or at the very least some progress towards a resolution then nothing will and Wang will be forced to consider other options. Hopefully he will be able to do something in Queens or in Suffolk and not sell the team to someone who will move it. I will say this at least after a decade of nothing happening we are on the cusp of something happening one way or another. Chris what do you really think will happen as an end result here, a scaled back version of the lighthouse, or a move to either Queens,Suffolk, or another state?
