Well id say this is the first one where id say “I would have given more years/$” Not to say that FB would have taken it from us as opposed to an O6 team like the Leafs who also happen to have his old boss steering the ship. sportsnet.ca says the leafs signed Beauchemin to a 3 year deal in the range of 10 million dollars.

I think Snow is looking at the trade market; if so, I would suggest the Flyers. They’re up hard against the cap and Snow and Holmgren have dealt before. I would try to get Asham back along with Cote, for Martinek, Sim and Meyer. We take care of Sim’s salary, giving them a winger back with some edge. Philly gets some depth on “D”, and they have Carcillo, Pronger and Hartnell already for grit.
Asham would be the perfect middle-weight to skate with Tavares.
Not sure how all the salary ramnifications would shake out; but just a thought on how a couple of teams could maybe help each other out.
We then sign Beauchemin to fill the hole on our D-line.

I can understand not signing Tanguay because we have some promising wingers in development like Jonesuu and Smith that need the ice time but our defense doesn’t have any real prospects ready for the big club except for MacDonald. Also our defense is terrible and often injured I think Beuchemin would be a nice addition to the blue line.

Hey Garth, Let me educate you. Just because they are kids doesn’t mean they’re all good. There’s a difference between having a blueprint and being neglegible to the franchise whom you’re supposed to make better. The more I see the less confident I am in Garth’s ability to make this team a winner. I really hope I’m wrong but the fact he won’t try to sign a 20 something nhl proven talent to give playing time to a young guy who may not even be in the nhl in 2 years is doing the franchise a great disservice.
