Long Island’s economy NEEDS the $90 million in tax money that the Islanders are estimated to provide. Between the employees paying taxes, the players buying houses, boats, etc. Letting this money go to NYC is a sin. NYC already has all the money.

If the Lighthouse is not approved I will be very happy with The islanders moving to queens or brooklyn. either way the islanders are getting a new building not like the rat infested dump in manhattan Lets go islanders.

Wang is about the real estate, and judging from what’s been happening with the Russian dude, it does look like Ratner is desperate for additional help in funding this, and desperate enough that he is allowing others to get pieces of Atlantic Yards to develop. So if Wang does get a part of Barclays, you can bet on the fact that he’ll get some of Atlantic Yards too, so he doesn’t totally misses out on real estates.

If they at least used the freight tracks to build a commuter line off of the main branch, one that could also make a stop at Roosevelt Field, LH could make some sense.

Sans that I agree with Tom. Brooklyn or Queens is the way to go.

Brooklyn would be a-ok w/me. Brooklyn or Queens would be sweet. Never liked the LH. No way in, no way out via mass transit. A complete waste. LI needs more cars like it needs a hole in the head.

I like what #43 had to say. What I CAN”T believe is that someone here actually said,”If they move, they better change the name.”
The whole point is the “Islanders” staying the “Islanders.” If the Isles don’t ultimately stay in the NY/LI area with the the original Islanders blue & orange logo, than we have lost.

There is a lot going on that only Wang and his immediate crowd know about. He only lets out what he sees is in his personal interest. There has been probably some off the record discussions with the TOH. Now other posters can criticize this post as being basically saying nothing and they would be right. But my guess is that the Islanders are going to be in this area for many years, but there will be lots of surprises along the way Stay Tuned!!!

I agree with most about Charles Wang being there for the real estate. What we all need to remember is what Gary Bettman said,that the NHL want’s the Isles to stay right where they are on Long Island right where they are. So Mr Bettman it’s about time to put your money where your mouth is and help us the Islander fans and get a deal done just like you did in Pittsburgh a couple of year’s ago and look where Pittsburgh is now STANLEY CUP champs and opening a new arena next season I believe.
So to all let’s keep them where they belong right here on LONG ISLAND….

Let’s stop beating around the bush. If Wang doesn’t get the Lighthouse, he’ll have no use for our hockey team. The reason he hasn’t pursue options is because he’s not interested in a building for the Islanders. He’s interested in condos, etc. That being said, I want the Ligthouse approved so that the Isles stay here on LI. I do not trust Chuckie. If for some reason the Lighthouse falls through, watch how quickly he tries to cut and run.
