I changed my mind. I’d give the C to Weight an A to Trent Hunter (to keep him motivated) and the other A to Brendan Witt. Witt deserves to be the lone defenseman with an A. Streit can wait and prove himself more. WItter should be considered lone Defensive Capt. I’m sticking to this until further review.

Dougie Weight. If the Isles really like him and are confident in him, they should give him the C out of respect at least. Good captain to have on a rebuilding, young team. Streit gets an A and should be considered Defensive captain. And Dwayne Roloson the #1 netminder. Done. Drop the puck!

I think they should wait to name a captain, see who rises to the top and then have the players vote between two candidates. On another note the newsday coverage is just weak. They have someone there at the camp and all we get is 25 word snippets mostly of quotes from the players. Sometimes I check their blog just to see how laughable the coverage is. Point Blank just makes newsday obsolete.

I think Kyle displayed alot of what islander fans expect in their captain down the stretch last year.Excellent two-way play and solid communication with the media.

DOC, I do nto disagree about witt sutton being gone at that point and then what do you have. While we all hope Tavares is our crosby or kane. Right now we have an unknown. If he proves to be what we want him to be no problem. I just have an isseu mentioning him at this point. Okposo absolutely a consideration in a year or two given that we have heard from various sources that he is a leader among the younger players. also look at someone like hunter as well. if streit has the C which I believe is the appropriate player, okposo an A, hunter deserves mention. Now however, if Tavares busts out and scores 80 points, by all means give the kid an A. Toews Kane and all of ther young captains all have one thing in common that is elite talent.

Not saying your idea is wrong, just before we throw tavares in the mix let the year start.
