    really hope he is okay

  2. avatar jay dugan says:

good move…I still wonder why the Mets brought Wright back for the remainder of the season when the year was already lost.

  3. avatar Matt says:

get him home and get him 110% healthy. no need to rush him back. if he misses the start of the season, so be it.

  4. avatar german islesfan says:

it looks Kyle is on the right way to a complete health and happy birthday JT.

  5. avatar Staten Islander says:

    Good move

  6. avatar Dorfer81 says:

It’s flying him a good idea? Remember Ryan Church? Sounds like a way to Mets this up…

  7. avatar HilbertSnipe says:

He was cleared for travel the day after the hit.

  8. avatar Isle4Ever says:

Say Hi to Fronzy, jeez it’s going to be a while till his back in the lineup. They don’t know when he’s even going to be doinglight excersise. That was a nasty hit.

  9. avatar michele says:

looks like KO’s career will now be dooomed as the same as rickety boy..well, atleast rickster was smart to get the money now..

  10. avatar KO21 says:

I hope the Isles draw a positive out of this negative experience…Should bring the guys together to play for one another..

  11. avatar matt says:

    march 25……..

  12. avatar chip saunders says:

Definatly a good move, make sure everything is O.K.,Than make sure K.O.is 100% for the real deal.

  13. avatar Michael says:

He’ll be ready for the home opener. Sit him out of the pre-season, we only have over a week to go. Good move by the Isles.

  14. avatar dp says:

I think that since he clearly lost consciousness he should sit out all of October just to be on the safe side. and he should be checked out by doctors who specialize in head injuries, not just the team docs. Once you make a mistake treating a head injury, there is no going back.

  15. avatar Waiting On the Isle says:

They need to be careful with KO. Once you get one it is very very easy to get others. He has to be 100% b/c you are talk not only about a 10 to 15 year career but someones health.

  16. avatar big dog says:

is tonights game on the web?

  17. avatar MattyB says:

We shouldn’t be speculating how long he’ll be out for, or how long we want him out for…..That’s what doctors do, Let them do the job. He got cleared to fly home, It means nothing. He wasn’t gonna play anyway, no sense of him being with the team. Once he’s evaluated at home, maybe then we’ll have a timeline on how long he’s out for.

  18. avatar Jeff Kuntz says:

Head injuries and their consequences have become more of a focus in the past X years.

Islanders have cleared all flight concerns for Okposo through a half-dozen experts. Literally – people who are true experts in Sasketchewan and New York.

Bring him back. Go from there.

Smartest move possible for the team.

  19. avatar kevin says:

    i hope he is ok..

  20. avatar max says:

does anyone know where we can watch the game online?

  21. avatar art says:

I hope he is 100% soon. But in any case I hope the medical staff and ultimately mgmt. is a lot more honest about his injury than they have been and continue to be about DP.

  22. avatar 2Bit says:

#20 – Isles website now lists it’s on ITV tonight. Woo-hoo!!

  23. avatar mapisles2025 says:

You can watch the game here:

We haven’t got to see the first pick of the 2nd round goalie Koskonin yet. It’s a bit odd concerning he’s 21 and such a high pick. Considering he’s said to be battling for a job in Bridgeport and thus far Lawson, Munroe (one year contract), Poulin (has to return to junior but seen action more then once) and then regulars Biron and Roloson. Why haven’t they played him yet, other then the rookie game I think?

Yes, the Isles need to be extra cautious about Okposo.

I liked they dressed all the toughies last night telling Sutter if he wants to play rough let’s go but the problem is most of the guys won’t be full time Isles.

Martin and Rechilicz are a very good step in the rigt direction.

These officiating crews are all local for preseason? I’m not trying to be a homer but good lord some of the calls they are making are so biased and incorrect. In the past two games we’ve seen Haley and Riechlecz thrown out of the game for nada.

Hope it becomes fair. I just want a penalty by one crew to be a penalty by all. I want Sidney Crosby to get the same treatment as Trevor Smith. Enough of this star system the NHL has always embraced. Remember when Gretzky and Lemuix played? Here are two of the best players but your not allowed to check them. Lemeuix especially liked to hit people with his stick and he could do it all day long in front of the refs and they’d send the other guy off.

Why isn’t NHL Network playing all these preseason games? NFL Network shows us every game by every team. NHL Network needs the programming instead of constantly showing old shows.

  25. avatar bossjones1 says:

I like what Matt Martin said when asked about the hit on KO after last nights game “its something the Islanders will remember for a long time and make sure he gets his.” thats what I like to hear

  26. avatar Lorne says:

Most likely will not be in the opening night lineup, maybe misses the next few weeks. No rushing him back, no Ryan Church shanenigans.

  27. avatar mapisles2025 says:

They just called Doug Weight the New York Islanders captain during halftime. Anyone else hear that?

  28. avatar doc says:

Looks like this Moulson wants to make the team…

I’ve seen a couple of games online now… and I would much rather see him vs. Sim, Tambellini, Thompson etc.

  29. avatar db says:

tavares gets first point and dehaan gets second goal

  30. avatar UIF says:

Listening to this guy try to pronounce Islanders’ names is almost as entertaining as the game.

  31. avatar doc says:

    WoW!!!
I’ve been vocal in my “dislike” for Howie Rose’s style of play by play… but I’ve changed my mind after listening to these clowns from other teams trying to do the play by play on these games. Howie… I sincerely apologize for any past insults, slights, lack of appreciation or otherwise voicing my dislike for your play by play style.

You (Howie) are a true professional, well prepared and otherwise “on the ball” when it comes to doing your job.

    Please accept my sincerest apologies.

  32. avatar Strummer's Army says:

#28 I noticed that to. I doubt the arena announcer knows it and Botta doesn’t but Weight is likely.

Neimi looks good. De Haan looks like if her were 20-30lbs heavier he’d make the team this year for sure.

I didn’t hear the Martin quote concerning Phaneuf but it’s great to have someone around like that again.

  33. avatar TuxTax says:

His pronunciation of Niemi is my favorite one…DiBenedetto is a close second…HAHA They actually started to play the system there in the second period though which is a good sign.

  34. avatar Tom D37 says:

LOL, the color man just said jeff gordon called a timeout

  35. avatar Brian H says:

    DeBene..DiBanna..The Islander player takes the pass… hahaha…

  36. And Oilers sounds like Otters. :)
    Great victory boys…

  37. avatar isles99 says:

i never knew one could have so much trouble pronouncing ben-ti-vo-lio and di-be-ne-de-tto so many times. i thought howie rose and sam rosen were bad until i heard these clowns

  38. avatar UIF says:

    B…Ben…Bent…i…vo…lio?

  39. avatar Strummer's Army says:

I noticed one shot with 20-30 guys in suits, so lots of scouts in attendance tonight.

  40. avatar Chris TMC says:

Yup, mapisles2025 (28) I heard that, too. And it wasnt like they said it because he was wearing the C for the night on the ice, Doug wasnt dressed for the game & was out there in a suit. But they did call him Captain of the New York Islanders and I didnt see him look surprised by it, either.

  41. avatar Tony says:

I for one am quite concerned about the concussion. Like someone else said, once you get one, you’re more susceptible to them. Even if KO is OK, he’ll most likely be more tenative now on the ice.

    Man, the Isles are CURSED!
