The "swine" flu:
1)Currently H1N1 diagnosis is made by symptoms). H1N1 seem to give more GI problems then the current seasonal flu so that's the differential basis of diagnosis. Almost nobody gets the diagnostic test (its expensive and knowing doesn't change anything)
2) H1N1 is actually milder then the typical seasonal flu on both severity of illness and mortality rate.
3) The initial fears stem from the facts that A) it was discovered as a different strain then the circulating seasonal (H1N1 is actually a mix of swine, human and bird strains) B) The 1918 spanish flu was H1N1. C) It was discovered by the CDC in the southeast US and traced back to a new strain to be killing people in Mexico(a country with poor disease survalence) and intially its relative abundance, epidemology and mortality rates were unknown.
4) Many other viral infections will give you "mild" flu like symptoms. Its possible KO didn't even have H1N1
5) Health experts fear it could mutate into a more lethal form (see 1918 spanish flu) and our population is rather naive immunologically to this strain
6) Pure media hype

Give Jake the A. LOL

Seriously though, if Okposo is cleared to play and he is up to it, he should play. The team is much better with him in the line-up than without.

On a side note, if the Isles continue to be competetive this year, Snow should use some Wang bucks to make a move to add some help (as long as it doesn't require one of our 'core' players or high draft picks).

LOL @ Post #9. I had it once too. I played all 60 minutes plus 3 of over time. I scored 5 goals with three helpers then on my way home I saved a family from a burning building. When I got home the NY Giants left an answering machine and asked me if I could play tailback for them for the Monday night game so I hopped a plane to New York and running on no sleep I ran for 137 yards and 2 touchdowns on 9 carries. During the plane ride home the pilot and co-pilot became sick and I when the flight crew asked if anybody could fly the plane I rose to the occasion. During the landing the pilots heart stopped. I performed open heart surgery with a ball point pen and messaged his heart back to life with my right hand all while landing the plan with my left. What a day.

1) H1N1 thus far is no more dangerous than any usual season flu out break. Its unlikely that Okposo had the very expensive blood test to confirm its actually Swine flu and not another upper respitory infection. Therefore its entirely possible he's had a minor case and perhaps has recovered enough to consider rejoining the team.
2) As for possibly being a carrier to other players, the time line for someone being contagious is from just before symptoms become apparent to about 24 hours afterwards. After that point its unlikely he could infect his team mates.

I have no clue why Nielsen isnt a part of the rebuilding. I think he is a good not great player. i would for him to stay for the future of this team

I feel bad for all of the others on KO's flight from NYC to Carolina. Over 75% of the air you breathe on a commercial airplane is recycled air that other passengers have already breathed. I hope they distributed masks for that flight. I am concerned about the team flight to Florida after the Carolina game.
