RICK DiPIETRO TO PRACTICE ON TUESDAY
But only with Schremp, Comeau and MacDonald
11:30 pm - Scott Gordon told Katie Strang on Monday afternoon in Toronto that on Tuesday Rick DiPietro will take a full team practice with the Islanders, the first of his rehab. It is declared as another big step toward the goalie’s long-awaited return to the lineup. Gordon tells Newsday, “Everything has gone to plan.” And in a new section on the official team website called, “Islanders Authorized,” Garth Snow confirmed that DiPietro will skate in a full “team practice this week.”
Rick has practiced with the full team before, for about the first 20-30 minutes. With the Islanders playing in Toronto on Tuesday night, you had to figure Gordon would give some of his players the day off the ice.
Well, he has. Just about all of them. Despite losing their sharpness in these last three games and being out-shot 61-21 in Toronto, the only Islanders practicing on Tuesday are scratches – Blake Comeau, Rob Schremp and Andrew MacDonald, and presumably DiPietro and Martin Biron.
The Islanders have had two practices with a full team in the last 15 days. DiPietro’s next chance to practice with the full team would be on Thanksgiving Day and then the Islanders play Friday and Saturday with a likely day off on Sunday. Sources say the plan for the goalie leads to a conditioning stint in Bridgeport, including some AHL games. The Sound Tigers play Wednesday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday so they won’t be practicing much either. Much ado about nothing, I know. Ricky just needs a team to play with.
The discussion about the 4-3 overtime win continues in the next thread.

can we send DiPietro to the Continental League in Russia in exchange for some blintzes?
-
I watched the Toranna broadcast tonight and they said Rick would be back Jan.1 after practicing soon. True?
How long will he last is the question?
Bye bye Biron.
-
I can’t wait to have Ricky back full time. I really hope he can stay healthy.
-
They better have him play atleast 4 games in the bridge before they think about bringing him back. We can’t afford to trade biron and then dp gets injured again.
-
Good luck Ricky! Hope everything goes swimmingly!
-
Chris, once again for the dead-on analysis through the pr fog machine
-
RICK, please take your time. Come play some games in Bridgeport. Come back when your 100%. Pulling for you.
-
So Chris does that mean you are “unauthorized” lol
-
Ricky for xmas…hmmmmmm
-
we need more D. I hope Ricky doesn’t have to stop 60+ shots his first game back. Tamby another goal – Hmmmmm.

looks like losing martinek hurts more than i thought it would if you notice since he went down our defense has looked worse and worse. hopefully it was just because of a long trip. lets come home and win 2 games. two tough games one against philly which is the first home game after a seven game road trip (that always is a tough game) and then home @ 2pm saturday against penguins we all know how bad the isles play in the afternoon hopefully that will change. after that its another 5 game road trip after that trip we will have played 11 home games and 20 road games i will be ecstatic with a 500 record after 31 games.

Looks like Islanders Authorized is a ripoff of IPB….

Wasn’t there a spot on one of the recent telecasts about how DiPietro was modifying his style away from the full butterfly to reduce stress on his hip and knees? I never heard of anything like that before. I just wonder if he’ll be as effective since it is not his natural instint and if it will actually help him to endure in the NHL. I sure hope so. Ricky seems to be a very determined guy.
-
just think, CB was islanders authorized and people actually knew about it. great marketing move NY Isles….bury a blog with no true insight, and make it seem like it’s something new and insightful.
-
I for one do not want Ricky to come back this year. Chemistry has been built with Rolo and Biron… We are 9-8-7!! Ricky comeback in September…
-
im actually gonna be scared when he comes back. If he faces a game like Rollie did last night it might end his career for good.
-
almost time to dust of the old #39 third jersey

Hock (14): Nope, there was no spot about that, it was just an offhand comment by Howie and no information on it whatsoever.
And Brian (16): I couldnt disagree with you more. Once he is healthy, the Islanders need to know if Rick is still a dependable starting goalie. Inexplicably putting that evaluation off for another year makes absolutely no sense. Fortunately, the organization would never do what youre asking.

Oh great leaky DePpleto is back.
I like blintzes!
Newsday whats that?
-
they better not rush DP back. Let him play play 10 game btw bridgport and Isles before we make decesion on Biron. Trade Biron for good solid DMAN.
-
i still have faith in ricky. can’t wait for him to come back.
-
Good to see Ricky back. I’ve been down on him in the past, but I’m excited to see him back. They should play him on the road first and then have him play at home. Let’s not put undo pressure on him by making it an “event”. That being said, I’ll try to make it to the Coliseum for that game.
Islanders Authorized = Fail

Chris TMC – I think it was more than an offhand comment. If I recall, it was in response to a fan’s question. But, yes, there wasn’t a whole lot of detail about it. Just the same, it struck me that his “old” style may be his own worst enemy.
-
Hock- I think it was not more than an offhand comment, especially since CB has specifically said that Rick is playing the way he always plays and that theres nothing to that comment. But hey, if you want to give it significance anyway I cant stop ya.

Islanders Authorized? First puts Cartman in my mind and then it looks like a lamer version of PB
