Watch Schremp’s amazing goal at FanHouse

I give it to Schremp…Hossa hit his lower to the ground while Schremp’s was waist high…also taking into account the score at the time and where the puck went in, I can’t quite tell exactly where Hossa’s goes in, but Schremp hit top shelf
-
This kid must be something to watch in practice. He is just pure talent sometimes.
-
Once again Rolli steals another one. This guy makes saves that boggle the mind. Gordon (snow) have to keep rolling with him regardless of a healthy DP. Its Dwayne’s job to lose.
I wouldnt trade him unless we can get a 1st round pick in return. No one is trading us an NHL ready player for him when they can simply trade a 4th rounder for Biron.

Last weekend before the Atlanta game, Schremp was showing off some moves at practice. First, he was juggling the puck over his head and slapping it in (Glad he practiced it, it came in handy tonight!), then he did his lacrosse move. A lot of fun to watch. He’s really starting to come around. Hope to see more good play from him.
-
Sorry, posted that in wrong story. Darn those late games.
Sweet play by Robbie. He has brought a temporary jolt to this power play. Strong game all around for the kid.
-
Both very nice goals. Tough to give an edge to either goal/player but I am going to give to Shremp because I liked the baseball swing. It was a quicker reaction than Hossa’s who has a bit more time to see the puck. Cant take anything away from Hossa’s goal though.
-
Schremp’s goal was better than Hossa. Schremp meant to score his goal the way he did while Hossa publicly admitted he just took a lucky swing. With that being said I still like Tavares’ WJC and redirection off the glass goals better.
-
Too bad they couldn’t have gotten the slowed down version with a close up on Shemp. But a thing of beauty, verified by Toronto.
-
rob schremp is a lot of fun to watch. simple as that.
-
Schremp a.k.a. Bob the Builder…yes had a fantastic goal, but more importantly seems very well liked on this team. He is great in interviews too…I think he’ll continue to grow his popularity here. Its luckily a good fit…let’s just hope for some good consistency and fitting line combos.
And more shootouts! But more importantly – Roloson again. I love this guy. I want him to start Friday.
Even MORE important…BIG goal by Kyle Okposo, Captain KO! Err future captain… Good for him and good for the team. I have a feeling he’ll either tear it up towards the end of the season, or he’ll keep his goal total on the low side but net us 1 or 2 more big game winners, hopefully in very important games.
-
Oh and don’t worry so much about JT guys… JS (JON SIM) is holding us down. By the time he cools off JT will come around hahaha.
For real though, Sim is playing well!
Bailey too which I’m way more excited about! -
Schremp’s goal is better. Did you see Rolie’s save on Duchene?
-
You can also see how Schremp’s incredible hands help him during play. If you focus you can see he can make these little moves that can help him down in the corners. If he plays like this, and gets his scoring touch back like he did in juniors, there is no reason to think that he couldn’t become a capable second liner for the rebuilding team. Paired with a playmaker like Bailey, we could have a great second line in the future.
-
it wasn’t even part of sportscenter’s top 10 plays!!! awful.
-
Can’t it just be a highlight goal and leave it at that? Why does it matter what Hossa did?
Rob Schremp is starting to come around. I’m happy for him and happy for us. He’s young, and he was given up on by the Oilers. It’s about time that a reclamation project works out for us. Honestly, I wonder if Rob Schremp had a talk with Pierre Maguire after last game in Toronto. Because I don’t live in the New York area anymore, I am able to watch the road feeds of most Islander games. Maguire was asked by the play-by-play man if he was surprised that Schremp couldn’t bring his junior domination into the NHL. Maguire’s response was, “It blows my mind” (that he hadn’t). There’s a lot of hope for Schremp. I hope he keeps it up.
Oh yeah, one more thing:
AWESOME GOAL!
-
Was watching the Avalanche feed of the game at work & I found it strange that the top 3rd star of the game was Duchene. Seemed like a homer choice, as Schremp had 2 points, one of which was a pretty amazing goal. If they wanted to keep Duchen in the top 3 they probably should’ve at least replaced Okposo with Schremp.

I know i watched espns top ten just to see it again, the only hockey play in there was a breakaway from heatley in OT. Just a regular breakaway no move. Embarassing. -
I also saw ESPNBA didnt have that play on its top 10 this morning…Im not surprised.
Great goal.
Better win!
Go Isles -
just proves once again that ESPN doesn’t give a damn about the NHL.
-
I posted this on the game thread–how does that not make the Top 10? Do the teams have to “market” the highlight in order for ESPN to pick it up? Sheesh!!!
-
Why do people even watch ESPNBA anymore? NHL on the Fly all the way!!
Robbie – sick hands, I hope he keeps improving the rest of his game and that Gordo gets 110% out of him – he can be special.
Rolie the Goalie – we all love you and we can’t thank you enought for being ready to play and bailing out our young team night after night.
DP – I want him to keep getting better – take over the backup role – keep progressing and next year be able to split with Rolie! -
Great goal. Schremp is doing great things with this opportunity. He and Moulson are prime examples of why some guys need that extra time to mature both mentally and physically. This team could be scary good up the middle if Bailey blossoms like Robbie seems to be… JT, RS, JB and FN… The four centers of the apocalypse.(60)
-
The Roloson glove save on Duschene was flat out one of the top 10 saves this season across the entire NHL – that was insane. The other great stop was late in the 3rd when he slid across the crease from his left to right and kicked it to the corner. Forgot who the shooter was but man, this guy stole another one last night.
-
was watching the top 10 on sportscenter completely expecting this goal to be #1…im baffled as to how this didnt even make the top 10!!!
-
seth i was just coming to say the same thing i couldnt believe it wasnt on there
-
You guys have to understand, basketball and football are more important than hockey in the USA, so SportsCenter isn’t going to put a flukey hockey goal over a basketball spin-o-rama slam dunk or a game-winning 3-point shot over a bunch of defenders. Also, it wasn’t the game winning goal… if it had been, it might have made Top 10.

That save was on Tucker… still cant stand that guy… enemy #2 behind Dale Hunter -
…that was a sicko goal. Cant believe the ref automatically called it a no goal. I mean he was standing right there watching and when it happened even on TV it was clear it was good.
No Islander respect, however that will be changing soon as we slowly but surely become a force in the NHL. I cant help but get excited with this team having clawed its way back to .500. Bravo!!!!
-
I loved the slapshot by Nielson, he blasted that off the shoulder of the goalie from far away…liking what I’m seeing from Schremp recently.
-
The play is now #7 on ESPNs updated top 10
-
Best hands on an Islander player since Turgeon! After so many years of “lunch pail types” it’s a treat to see skills like his, Bailey’s passing, and KO’s power moves.
-
A few weeks ago Schremp was on the outside looking in. Now with a few injuries, he’s finally getting a chance. I hope the staff feels like he has done enough to stick. This guy has some serious talent.
-
Hossa caught the puck, dropped it down to his stick and golfed it. Schremp had the better, more difficult goal.
-
Glad to hear the goal has been included on ESPN’s Top 10. I left late for work this am just to see it again and it was nowhere to be found (initially). I like basketball but there are alley-oop plays and slam dunks in every game. How often do you see a goal like this?
-
#35…exactly, everytime they post a dunk, I keep thinking, Really? It’s basketball. These players are good at basketball…It’s not that hard. Sometimes you can get a great play out of them, but a lot of times it must be a slow news day cause I’ve seen some that are just plain ordinary.
-
Not only was Schremp outside looking in a few weeks ago, but I completely gave up on the guy. This is a situation where I love to be proven wrong. I hope he keeps doing it.
On a side note, after seeing Taylor Hall and Cam Fowler in the WJC, I see no point in losing this season to get one of them. Not that I’d have a problem with having one of them on this team, but neither overwhelmed me to the point where we MUST have them.
Keep up the good work. I’ll be at the game tomorrow. Let’s clean up on this Rocky Mountain, kinda-sorta south-midwest, desert trip.
-
Shremp impressed me when he won a battle behind the oppositions net. He kind of flipped the buck back away from the boards towards himself as he backed up and set up a nice scoring chance.
-
Great goal Schremp!! I thought for sure it was going to make ESPN’s top ten plays of the day. OK, maybe its not going to win, but it doesn’t even make the list?!?!
-
The goal didn’t make TOP TEN at 11pm or 1am but the mistake was rectified by the morning.

Hossa’s was better. He was skating the whole time. Schremp was standing still.
