In rare cases, the player may even push for someone else to do the surgery. 90% of procedures are performed by the Islanders doctors, many whom are also associated with the Jets…CB

Viper: I don’t think there’s one single thing that’s so grand, it’s worth pointing out. But there are plenty. Short list: Jack Hillen, Travis Hamonic, Josh Bailey in January, Moulson and Schremp for free, Petrov possibly coming in the summer, Poulin in juniors, the thought of Okposo if the rest of the team gets better with him…CB

Reading this blog the last year+ has been instrumental in drumming up my interest in the Isles and I can honestly say I’ve been to more games this year then the past 10 mostly due to this renewed interest – thanks

Was wondering how the team handles health issues like surgeries (ie the DP saga) Is up to the player to pick a doc does the team do it for them is there a designated “team” doctor?

CB, what rule changes do you think are needed to remove the worthless “enforcer” (a by-product of the “Gretzkyfication” of the game in the mid-80′s – bringing us Dave “Cementhead” Semenko & Marty “McStupid” McSorley) and return to the tough hockey players, who could actually play the game (Dave Schultz, Terry O’Reilly, Clark Gillies, Tiger Williams, etc.) and protect their teammates? I hate the Colton Orr & Mitch Fritz’s of the world – they are useless!

I haven’t been able to post a comment lately, just became a father 9 days ago. So far my daughter has not brought the Isles any luck! Thanks for doing this q&a marathon.
