HERE WE THROW AGAIN
Philly special Trevor Gillies recalled to face Flyers
5:40 pm: Blake Comeau (facial lacerations) will sit this one out. Doug Weight missed today’s practice with the flu. Rick DiPietro not yet ready to return. The Islanders recall designated enforcer Trevor Gillies as they seek to end a 14-game losing streak against the Flyers – the longest current team-to-team slide in the NHL.

Philly special Trevor Gillies recalled to face Flyers
-
He probably won’t do anything. Fighters like this aren’t needed in the NHL. We need a pest who fights, but also plays hockey. Guys like this never stick.
-
Let him knock out a couple of JVR’s or Carter’s teeth.
-
Weight sick AGAIN? AND the day before the Flyers game?? Hmmm..
-
Great, so we’re playing with 11 forwards tomorrow. Automatic loss.
-
we should have brought up martin instead
-
why not Matt Martin?
-
Agreed with kevin27nyi, bringing up a guy that is going to play 3 minutes is worthless.
-
This guy is a one team call up that spends less than 5 minutes on the ice each time he plays…
-
I have no prob with the theory of calling him up. I just have a problem with the reality that the Isles most consistent deficiency when playing the Flyers has been that they are not scoring enough goals in close games… and I do not think Trevor is going to help with that.
-
Just have to accept it, EJ-1since40 (4)- maybe you dont know but Weight has been playing with a bum shoulder all season.
-
Are Garth and Gordon on the same page, or at least reading the same book? Gordon does not play these types of players. He doesn’t even put them on the ice at obvious times. It seems like a waste of a roster spot, and makes about as much sense to me as the apparent GM/coach disconnect on Tambellini.
-
interesting point made. Why not bring up matt martin for size he can throw down too if necessary but more importantly will play meanigful minutes in the game.
-
This is embarrassing!
“Stick to the plan” Snow . . .
-
What a joke this is..
-
Maybe they don’t bring up Matt Martin because he might interfere with getting that top 3 pick.
-
5-2 loss is coming
-
Finally…! Trevor Gillies is back. Playoffs here we come.
-
rather see martin there over gilles
-
Matt Martin should be the call up. He can hit, skate, fight, and needs some more NHL experience. I’d also rather see Rechlicz.
-
If this helps land a top 3 pick…so be it. Let matt martin get big minutes in the ahl for the rest of the year
-
Maybe Martin isn’t playing because they think he is a future asset in this organization. Or just maybe Trevor is alot tougher, a UFA at the end of this season and is a guy who can break his hand and neither team would miss his “offensive” abilities.
-
Garth knows that Trevor can help our playoff push … clearly
-
I think you nailed it 50 in 50
-
Jeremy Reich would have been the better choice to recall. He had made the Isles roster before getting injured. He’s now back and playing regularly, hitting, checking and getting into fights. He has more points in many less games than Trevor. He’s tough as nails. He, Jackman and Martin could combine to be a formidable 4th line. Trevor is nothing more than a Goon who will see less than 3 minutes a game. If that.
-
Maybe Gillies can take a run at Pronger for knocking out some of the golden boy’s teeth.
-
No Martin because they must think Comeau and Weight are only out for 1 game each. But we all know how good Isles management are with determining injuries…
Roli or Biron tomorrow?
-
I wish I cared enough to write down every guy’s name who is complaining that a guy like Gillies gets called up. That same guy will be complaining that the Islanders are not tough and Carcillo drove Bergenheim through the boards…and Snow is an a-hole because he does not understand that hockey is a tough game. Our team sucks…Gillies is not taking any ice time from anyone of consequence. For all the guys that doubt me, go ahead and quote some stats to support your rediculous arguement. Gillies makes the Islanders tougher. Are they tough enough? Heck no!!! One player won’t do much…but one less is even worse. For years fighters were part of the
-
roli the rest of the way
-
Good thing Weight is eligible for Medicare – otherwise, treating these illnesses could get expensive for the Fishsticks….
-
#20…you’d rather see Rechlicz play and lose a fight? He sucks. Sure he is a work in progress, but he sucks. He regularly loses. I am not saying he loses more than he wins, but check YOUTUBE and then come back and post. He is no where near the fighter that Gillies is. He maybe a better skater, though. Sure, I want another Jackman on this team…a big guy who is a decent skater that can’t win a fight.
-
People dont realize that the Isles are tanking, at least Gillies is exciting to watch.
-
Where is Rechlicz is he not going to be on the team next year? If not we need an enforcer bad.
-
Maybe we are trying to get a top 3 pick. I think we should bring up 3 or 4 enforcers. Id rather have 2 or 3 fights each game and lose than lose anyway and be weak and boring.
-
Gillies is the perfect Islander…he works at minimum wage. Just what the doctor ordered. To bad the Cba has a salary floor otherwise we could find ten of these guys
-
Scott Gordon: “We’re trying to get into the playoffs, enough microanalysis.”
Islander fans: “Oh, gotcha Scott. Can you do me a favor and pass me that spliff when you’re done with it?” -
i saw the islanders last night at the sticks & steaks dinner. Comeau did look pretty banged up from that hit. Hit nose was quite swollen. Dougy Weight seemed like his normal cheery self.
BTW, the dinner was awesome. and if you have never met Dustin Kohn, he is an awesome guy. I had the chance to talk with him for about 40 minutes last night about everything, and he is a very nice guy.
-
i agree, bring up Matt Martin, plus when he was up we did fairly good on the pp.
-
MATT MARTIN WAS INJURED IN BPORT SATURDAY! He apparently has some kind of facial lacerations after a skate clipped his face, that doesnt work out if we need toughness, we already have a useless tough guy with Jackman right now (keep in mind, I like Jackman too).
-
2 words for Garth… Jody Shelley.
Another 2…. 6th rounder.
Another 2…. True enforcer.
Another 2 (fill in the blanks)…. Garth S–ks
-
Oh hey !!!! how about we trade for someone!.. lets be buyers at the trade deadline! on a normal team usually these issues are addressed..Thanks a lot GARTH ..are we giving up yet GARTH???????
-
Glad Gillies is up. If we are not making the playoffs, let other teams know that if they hit JT we are going to fight. No problem there, actually too late if everyone on here actually didn’t anticipate making the playoffs this year. No need for Jackman or Sim to be playing in place of an enforcer. Hopefully next year they get a guy that can skate and fight, but beggars can’t be choosers
-
I refuse to pay big money to sit and watch a organization that refuses to put a winning team on the ice. why should any of us waste our money? i was good for two games a month. look at the schedule we “might” win 2 more games. CBJ and nyr
-
I like the Gillies move. Snow cannot win. Complaints from the fans for no enforcer. Now he brings one up against a big nasty team and he is criticized.
-
Martin took 18 zips from a skate blade, he’s still banging the snot out of the opposition with checks. Can’t see the Isles wanting him to throw down with the fresh cut cause they know he will, zips or no zips..
-
I’d like to see wrecker back. He had a good tilt with Breshear. I agree also that a seeing a fight or two makes the game more exciting. Wrecker has energy and fans want are sick of the recent boring games. Maybe wreckers enthusiasm can rub off on the other players.
-
#46 I agree plus he can skate and hit. I am happy GIllies is up, a shame Martin is hurt. This has been a waste of a year for Weight, he should shut it down and have shoulder surgery now. With Weight and COmeau out that should mean there is another roster spot available for another call up right? JJ? Wrecker?
-
I guess they are bringing up Gillies against Philly again…I guess its to have him play TWO minutes vs. the flyers again. Considering they played alright against philly the last time, hit a few posts, and lost 2-1. They benched Comeau if in favor of Gillies. It helped real well.
-
What a great roster move by the Snowjob! Can’t wait to see him play one shift in the first, then sit on the bench for the second and third.
-
Rechlicz is done, Why else would they sign Trevor Gillies at the start of the year on an AHL deal THEN sign him to a NHL deal? Rechlicz is a liability on the ice. I’ve seen him for 2 years now take stupid penalties after stupid penalties. Joel’s played 19 games this year in Bport, That should tell you something…
Martin on the other hand isn’t 100%. Like someone said before, he took a skate to the chin and the couple days before that in practice he took a stick to the mouth that caused his tooth to through his lip. He needs those stitches to heal. He was wearing a full shield last game after the incident.
-
JT’s “police man”. That’s all it is. Reactionary move after seeing JT go face-first into the boards earlier this year. He will not instigate anything. Only there to step up AFTER someone take a liberty, and only IF someone take a liberty.
-
they are losing on purpose so they can get another high draft pick. they are just saying “we are trying to get into the playoffs” so people will still go to games
-
whatttttt is this! Didnt this guy play less then 4 minutes last time we brought him up….it was the worst hype ever, he did nothing for the team, he was all words from the bench and the entire state of philly laughed at us and the fact that we brought up a guy just to push them around and he didnt do a thing……doing it again is seriously an embarrassment, and i am a huge huge isles fan just like everyone in here but i really cant believe bringin this guy over martin or even the wrecker like a few ppl wrote
-
I’d rather see Joel Rechlicz or definitely Matt Martin. The Flyers have no real heavyweights, but someone would be sure to oblige Rechlicz or Martin. Not to mention we actually want to see Matt Martin PLAY HOCKEY!
-
About time Gilles is far and away the toughest guy in the organization. Might actually watch this ones, would be nice if the called up Martin as well. Chances are real good we wont miss any of the guys they will be replacing. What difference does it make if you play 3 min or 10 if you do nothing in those extra 7 min? Double shift someone who cares? I really could care less who gets what icetime as long as we compete, play hard, Stick up for each other and win some games. Plenty of teams win games while running a 3min Enforcer so enough with the you cant win with one of these excuses.
-
Boogie to Isles = No
Back probs and he makes more than league minimum.
-
u-s-e-l-e-s-s
-
Boogie to Isles…YES. Give me more boogies.
-
So Doug Weight was at a charity dinner last night while he is missing tomorrows game with the flu. Must be nice!!! What a gig he has here.
-
only know Boogard from his fights on youtube, which are very impressive but I have no idea if he can play. I ripped Garth yesteday for having the softest team in the league so I give him credit for calling up Gillies, it’s a start.
-
weight has been playing hurt all year. I dont think he would have been much better but at least he is a mentor to the young kids. Not sure him playin is a game changer
-
I think this is Weight’s 3rd bout with the flu. Flu season ended about 2 months ago.
Just my humble opinion after having work with Pharmacists and Drs for the last 20 years. -
LOL LAME!
-
Those saying things like “glad to see Gillies up”….
Are you serious? Did you not watch his last game vs. Philly?
I wonder if anyone checked Gillies’ drawers after the game. Me thinks he may have soiled himself.
I was waiting for him to climb over the glass during one of his shifts and flee into the crowd.
He was about as imposing/intimidating as I would be on the ice.
Gillies = worthless.
-
Matt Martin took a skate to the chops, got buttoned up and played the rest of the game.
-
we are now comfortably in 3rd place. I hope it stays this way. I dont see us catching the leafs or oil. Lets finish 3rd, be guaranteed 4th at worst and a 10% shot at #1.
-
….for all those crying for Martin think about something first. We all love Martins size and toughness….and he is young. But Martin is a hockey player. His future role is certainly to bring toughness…but he can also play. The last thing you would want to do is put him in the main tough guy role for this Islanders squad against a big nasty team like the flyers. I mean who has his back? Now lets be fair coddling this is not. And this season is over…so a little discretion might be the mind set here.
-
Martin needs to be developed, no sense bringing him up to take on the Flyers at this point. Let him stay in the bridge, maybe even let him start next year there too.
-
#50 The main reason Riechlecz has played so few games was he missed a ton of time after his hand got cut in a fight. I asked M.F. about it and he agreed some how the medical staff allowed him to get a terrible infection. When he has played he’s fought very well, is hitting, and improving his game overall. Gillies, Figren, Dibi and others don’t get to play every game down there either. Snow has once again mismanaged the amount of contracts he has.
#64 I have no idea where you got the impression Gillies was scared of anyone. I think everyone here would agree he was talking at the Flyers and approaching them to dance and found no takers. You might also remember that was the most gentle the Flyers have played the Isles in years.
Scott from Minn (another monster) is a UFA d-man this year. I think he can even skate good enough to play the system and is tough as hell, is someone the Isles shoudl try to sign. 6’8″ 260 range.
Also, Carkner from Ott is UFA (unless he resigned) he can skate, fight, and he gets a decent amount of points.
Hamhuis, Sutton and Corvo would be the other three of the top of my head. Let us face the harsh reality the Isles need three or four new d-men.
-
.. Islander fans are a FUNNY FUNNY bunch they really are, is there anything that makes you guys happy? SERIOUSLY?
.. Who did you expect to be called up??? This team is low on talent AND has been outmuscled and pushed around all year! We complain nite after nite about the lack of muscle/size and they call up a guy who will bring some size/muscle (Gillies) and U STILL COMPLAIN!!! Arrrggh
.. To be honest, i dont care if he plays 5 whole minutes, (btw hes NOT taking away time from someone else, Martin isnt available) the Isles have been the ‘lil siter-laughinstock’ who have been bullied and pushed around all season – lets start pushing back!!!!
-
Question is “Will he Play Him?’ Put him in the game, the guy is good if/when flyers start to run our smaller guys.
-
Go Trevor go! Also, go Garth go (home that is)! With people like Yzerman and Nonis looking for GM jobs, why is Garth still around? Let us be sure that these two would not shut out Point Blank, the lifeblood of Islander fans. Wow, is this team tough on the supporters!
-
Seeing Comeau laying on the ice in total pain and NO, NO, NO retaliation of any kind from ANY Islander has to be one of the most cowardly actions I’ve ever see in NHL hockey. It made me feel ashamed to be an Isles fan, I’m glad to see an enforcer on the team even if it’s for one game.
-
Im just bummed not to see Blake out there. The same thing happened to Bailey earlier in the year. One of the kids look like theyre starting to get it, and boom, out with an injury. Hopefully its only for this game.
-
Mike from Oceanside (#51) and Blizzard (#67) – I agree with both of you. Can’t bring up Martin for a game like this (even if he wasn’t injured recently) … he is part of our long-term plans and there’s no need to throw him into the fire this year when we’re not fighting for anything important other than maybe pride. He is better off staying in the AHL for the remainder of the season and gaining experience to be ready for next season fighting for a spot on the NHL roster.
I like the call up of Gillies. He’ll only have a few shifts and be limited unless one or more of the Flyers take liberties with JT/KO/JB/etc. He is there to act as a deterrent or for retribution should ugliness erupt. Unfortunately he alone can not deter anything from happening.
-
73 MikeinRichmondVA (73): Retaliation for what, exactly? For Comeau putting himself in a vulnerable position and getting hit? There have been a number of times this season when the reaction youre having here was totally appropriate and justified (cheap shots with no reaction/retaliation from other players on the ice) but this was NOT one of them. This was just a hit, Comeau was a bit banged up from it, and thats that. Making something that is just part of the game into some big on-ice fight with revenge and retaliation and any of that just seems so stupid to me… and in this case Im really glad I didnt see it.
-
couple flyers game left, couple pens games left, a west coast trip…lottery pick!
-
Like the move, Gillies is one of the few tough guys on the team and Philly is pretty physical. I agree with Jerky (75) MM can fight but the last thing we need is another kid getting hurt for nothing.
How about Joensuu though? The size would be nice right now. -
these are the times that try men’s souls…
-
We would be better off if we signed Goldy Goldthorpe.
-
I cannot believe that we have to bring up a waste product like Gillies to protect his teammates. For 1 crappy game. These are (supposedly) men out there. What do they have…skirts on? If I was an Islander, I’d be embarrassed to have a guy called up just to protect the rest of the team. What a bunch of pansies we have on this team.
-
Comeau got run down b/c he lays hit like that all the time. He’ll be fine.
Gillies callup is pointless. we lose to philly b/c they light us up. Particularly on pp. Which gillies will help them get on.
Most likely isles get lit up tonight on national tv. But don’t be surprised with lack of bad philly goaltending if isles young guns don’t shine.
What better night than tonight for JT to have 2 goals then on Versus.
Weight – flu. That’s too funny. And 100% bs I’m sure.
-
only thing softer then the isles are the soft fans oposed to having a tough guy or two in the lineup.true i would rather a legit nhl tough guy,not a 30yo ahl type
-
I hope we make a push to sign Boogaard in the summer. Sure, his talent is limited as evidenced by the fact that he NEVER scored. However, he is a good hitter and a better fighter. He hits to hurt. He is so huge when he hits someone they go down. As a fighter, he is without question the best in the league. If this team had a lot more talent and was tougher as a whole, I am not sure I would feel he had a role on the team. However, if they signed him, tell me who he would take ice time from? Park? Weight? Sim? Some other slug? He would make other players on the team play tougher. A lot of guys argue that goons only fight other goons so they have miminal/no impact. Has anyone ever heard of the emotional lift given to a team after a fight occurs, and even better when your team wins the fight? Ever heard of a player going out to start a fight to get his team motivated? It still happens and used to happen all the time.
As for Gillies impact on the Flyers game, I was there in person. He did not have any impact, but it was not for a lack of trying in his limited ice time. As stated above, he tried on a couple of occasions to get things started with Carcillo, I believe, and he was having none of it. He is one of the better fighters in the AHL. Sure his talent is very limited. I am shocked how touchy, feely guys have gotten with this sport. Man, I long for the days of 1970s and 1980s hockey. The instigator rule is ruining hockey. Back then, the players policed themselves. Now, the only policing that is done occurs when someone takes a legal hit and the other team does not like it!
-
Trevor’s cool. Toughest man in our organization and a good team man. For those commenting on the last time in Philly saying Trevor soiled his pants is just plain daft…the game was tight, 2-1 (i believe) and wasn’t an overly aggressive game and that could be construed because of his presence.
Seems like a lot of people don’t realize how tough the man is…consistently a top heavywieght in the AHL. -
TERRY B…man, that is the sentiment I was trying to capture! You nailed that one. Thanks, man!
-
I don’t get why we don’t use Martin more often. If anyone thinks the Isles are beating the Flyers then you haven’t watched these teams play each other this season and last.
-
Trevor will spend more time in penalty box than time played in game. Would be nice to see im fight in game.
Martin is not NHL ready. He needs to play more in AHL. Dont need him playing over 9 games either and having his nhl contract kick in.
Weight is done. No contributing and making excuses. no way he has flu.
-
why is dead weight even on the roster? he was done a WHILE ago. i wish the isles would sign the boogey man to protect tavares and company but we know that’s not going to happen because he will make over league minimum. welcome to wang’s world!
-
My wish for today…..In addition to Gillies…..
New York Islanders acquire for bag of pucks, Mitch Fritz from the AHL.
New York Islanders acquire Brandon Sugden from AHL
New York Islanders promote Micheal Haley from Bridgeport
New York Islanders acquire the rights to Tim “Dr. Hook” McCracken from Syracuse Bulldogs
New York Islanders acquire Ogie Oglethorpe from the Federal League…..
You get my point. If I watch tonight – I want Pronger and Carcillo bloodied.
-
No Boogard next year…we need players that know how to play hockey. they need to sign 2 defenseman & 2 wingers for next year. The Isles have 10 mil coming off the books.
-
The Islanders need to tank the rest of the way and lock up another top 3 pick. Then we can do some work over the summer and really shoot for the stars in October 2010. We need an agile puck moving defensemen, a shut down defensemen and a scoring winger. Once JT has had the summer to prepare fully for NHL life, he will be fine.
As far as Yzerman looking for a GM job, he would NEVER accept this post. EVER. He is way out of our league.
-
great-hope weight’s flu lasts the rest of season-maybe he shared a water bottle by mistake with park and sim and gervais-that would be nice-and dipi still out-woohoo..where is matt martin??????
-
i actually like matt martin a lot and i have a good feeling about him watching the way he plays-so i think snow will definitley trade him within the next year
-
Brian G, that is your opinion. I disagree, but I do respect what you have to say. Do you really think we’re signing several (four) free agents? I would be happy with one or two. Hamhuis would improve our toughness. Volchenkov would, too. We are not getting both. We might not get either. Who will improve our toughness at forward? Reich is a possibility, but he is no real longterm solution. The problem is that we need to turnover a lot of our roster and it ain’t gonna happen in one year. We are looking at the basic roster for next season with ONE or TWO free agents added…and possibly not even a top-tier free agent like the two mentioned above.
-
I think if the Islanders were in the AHL they could win it all.
Just a thought. Philly wins 6-2 -
CB, I am a little confused by the Gilles move up. It did not work last time. He doesn’t get any other playing time except against Philly and we are lacking size. is this Garth’s way of telling the rest of the team, “here is your grit, your size, your pugulist.” As a fan this feels like he is trying to put duck tape on a slow leaking tire. Of course I say this without seeing him play since the last ST game I watched (which was months ago) but this just doesn’t seem right.
I used to think that it would be great if the Isles just tanked this season but now I feel for the players. Where it seems like they are being asked to do the impossible in making the playoffs with a challanging lineup it now seems that the idea is to send them some players that can protect rather than produce. I am not sure how that benefits the team other than to give them peace of mind that we did not have as many man game lost days as last year. Perhaps the idea is to let them struggle through this in the hopes that it makes them a better “team” next year and with a higher draft pick. However, right now, it just doesn’t seem like the right thing to do for the players or the fans.
-
I’m ready to talk about next year, face it- we are shutting down this season with desperate moves like Gillies call-up. The best face you can put on this is that Gillies is not out there to start fights but rather to prevent our kids from being mauled and hurt. However the result could be the opposite and enable the Flyers to play an overly aggressive game when the wrong people get involved and hurt.
-
Well look at the bright side, at least the Islanders only have two teams in front of them now for worst record. I’ll be happy if they stay where they are, at least they’ll have a shot at Tyler Seguin there.
-
good for Trevor – he’ll earn NHL $$$ today for playing a few minutes.
But the move of bringing him for this game is amateur and laughable.
-
i dont get the fascination everyone has with Joensuu. Everyone on this board seems to be down on Trent Hunter. Joensuu is his clone from finland. big guy, slow
-
I hope they keep Gillies up for the rest of the season. Seems like he is a great team guy and Martin attributes his fighting skills to learning from Gillies so let the guy earn an NHL contract for 20 games imo. I think they should bring up Reich and send Jackman down. Might as well start looking to next year and see if Reich can handle the NHL game imo
-
It should be an interesting few minutes anyway with Gillies in the line up
-
Strummer’s Army, Rechlicz’s injury was 4-6 weeks not even. That’s not the only thing that kept him out of games. In the 19 games he did get in he’s totaled 126PIMs. He’s a loose cannon and if he’s a liability at the AHL level then you can be sure he’ll be one at the NHL level. Joel will be lucky if he plays 20 games next year.
-
I like the Trevor callup , whats worse than watching a team full of timid kids is to watch them get run at and possibly injured. We are obviously tanking the rest of the way but I don t think Garth will have a press conference to announce it and invite the commish. If your not going to win at least make sure our kids are protected and learn how to stand up for themselves. Clark Gillies, Bobby Ny and the rest of the men that dropped their gloves were as instrumental to that dyansty as any of the top stars. You need a team that has toughness and will stand up for one another. JT has been hit more this year than he has it the last 5 and its taken its toll. If this is Gaths masterplan to teach toughness to kids , its not working-
-
Its sooooo hard being an Islanders fan
-
This is silly…
-
Even though it is time to go into
“tank mode,” it would be nice to beat the Flyers tonight to end that awful losing streak. -
I like the move of bringing up Gillies now we have a guy who can possibly win a fight and protect JT KO FN and the other young guys i also would like them to bring up Haley instead of playing jackman with the cage.Philly will punish the guys all night. The players need to start protecting them selfs. It would be nice to see KO punch somebody in the face when he takes a dirty hit just to show he is not going to take all the crap he takes. The isles need to search far and wide for guys who can play and fight.Maybe they can hire Brendan Shannahan to work with Martin and teach him how to do both. The scouting staff needs to find a player like Corey Perry who can play at all times and defened himself and others that is how you win.
-
Matt Martin will make the team next year. Eric Nystrom should be signed. I hope we see regular shifts from Gillies tonite so we can make a better assessment. A toughness upgrade next year would free up necessary ice space for our talented forwards. We are better than our record and have a good system.
-
Like evry year since Snow has been here i have heard the we will address the toughness issue and every year its to call up the Enforcer the last 20 games? In one e-mail sent after they got rid of Godard i asked Snow why they got rid of Godard and his reply was it was not me that got rid of him. Now with a reply like that you might assume that he would go out and get another Enforcer since he made it sound as if he was GM at the time he would not have gotten rid of Godard.
-
Joensuu is a big body with decent hands who usually is right in front of the net. Why is he in bridge? To answer a previous blogger, Islander fans are not hard tp please. On the contrary, we have very modest expectations and management knows it! All we ask is for them to ice a product that has a CHANCE to win. No matter who we play it’s always one excuse after another. We are too small. We are suffering defensively (so why not trade one of our better ones like Sutton). We don’t have enough talent. Look at the rags, they consistently get players to help them win.I can’t stand them, or their obnoxious fans, but really, garth and Wang need to bring in some winners that are not 40yrs old. Why can’t we do that? Why do I support a team when management, by their own admission, does not think we are good enough to win? For the millionth time, a rebuild does not consist of the draft alone. never has, never will. And as for tanking to get a draft pick, I am sick of it( I was actually starting to believe the BS). There is noway to predict whether a 4th pick will be better than a 9th pick.I can’t help wondering how Garth would have felt about management if he were playing in goal for this current team!
-
Haha poor Scotty Gordon! “Gillies???? You’re sending me Gillies!?! UUGGHHHH!!”
Guess we won’t see him crack a smile tonight eh? Poor guy
-
That is right. Great to have a draft pick but coaches still need to work with these guys. You have to be big and fast to skate in the NHL. Just because your good in one league doesn’t mean you can stand up with the big boys. That’s why I like wrecker, he just needs to work on his discipline and hands and more than three minutes.

he should come out in the first shift and take out the biggest guy on the ice. Or stick carcillo in the face cause he is such a great guy
