KEVIN POULIN CONTRACT IS DONE
Hamonic’s inevitable signing will get all in the fold

by Chris Botta on May 14th, 2010 at 9:05 pm

Kevin Poulin and the Islanders finalized his three-year Entry Level deal, so all the important prospects will be in the fold. Poulin was the tougher sign, since he so out-played his fifth round status. Travis Hamonic’s contract is a layup that will be done by the end of the month as he plays for Brandon at the Memorial Cup. Poulin’s development will be fun and intriguing to watch. Here’s our recent story on the goalie prospect.

This is great news! After Riderwall rejecting the offer a good step for the Isles. Poulin > Riderwall

    CB,
Please don’t close the Comments section so quickly anymore. We have nowhere else to go.

That said, it seems like this was a no brainer. At least they will have options going forward past the DP/Rolo era. They still should sign a vet back-up. The situation is identical to last year.

Excellent to hear! Look forward to him and Koskinen leading the way within the next couple of years. Stefan who???

    Good to reply before closing.

Welcome to the family. Like Poulin, the rest of the team at the top could benefit from the extra jump.

We need to come out flying next season – the fist win is as important as that final game.

Just nice to have more depth at a position that at one point had nothing. Will be fun to watch. Good signing.

Poulin will probably have a better career that that goaltender whose name I can’t remember that went number one overall in the 2000 draft.

    Hello Goalie Depth!!!

Surprising and promising development … He seems like the kind of goalie that has the character that embraces taking a team on his back and carrying them.

I’ll remember what Patrick Roy said during this year playoffs he said that Kevin Poulin was the best goalie in Canada this year…Kevin took just an average team like the Tigres to the semi- finals.

  13. avatar SneakyPete77 says:

When Patrick Roy says your the best goalie in the CHL, it really means something because he was the best to play in our lifetime! Period! End of story! Impressive numbers for the Quebec league.

I hope this means we will not draft a goalie.

  14. avatar Steven says:

Excellent signing. The Isles are in great shape for the future with Poulin and Koskinen. Poulin really sounds like the real deal. Have to love the comments from Roy.

  15. avatar Andre Legault says:

    Very good news.

Bienvenue chez les Islanders Kevin !!!

We sure have great potential with Kevin and Koski.

That being said, I still wish we’ll have a healthy Rick Dipietro next year.

This is definitely great news, and another positive step in the right direction.
