STREIT, TAVARES ON NHL ALL-STAR BALLOT
Islanders only represented by the pair
3:45 pm: The Islanders have two names on this year’s all-star ballot: Mark Streit and John Tavares. Streit is a bit of a surprise considering he’s out for most of the season with a shoulder injury. Every team has at least two nominees. The Blackhawks lead the league with six. Comments.

does every team get 1 player elected?
-
What, no DP?
-
About right, though Tavares hasn’t warranted the call just yet. Streit being on the ballot is an easy way to give the Isles the required 2 players without actually risking one making the cut.
-
Streit has been our best player this year!
I that we should all vote him into the starting line-up. How long ago did the NHL put the names together to go on the ballot. This is horrible. We knew in September that he was out for the season.
At least the knew better than to put DiPietro on the ballet. -
I think every team gets one player unless they changed that along with the new “captains as GM” game they are playing.
-
It’s nice to give recognition to Streit even though he’s not going to be available, but I’d rather have seen Roloson on the ballot. The man deserves it!
-
Islanders tied with several other teams with the fewest nominees for this worthless game. And Bruno Gervais isn’t even one of them. Is some other channel going to show “Harlem Globetrotters on Gilligan’s Island” so I have something to watch that day?
-
Well…Streit does lead the team in plus/minus.
-
Streit shouldve been replaced with our next best player.
-
Vote Streit
-
Should be KO and Streit, they have been the best on the team this year.
-
Streit should be replaced with Wiz
-
#12-I second that!
-
I wonder with the new format, if the Isles players will be like the fat, “special” kid in gym class, who gets picked last. You know, the one that the teacher (Bettman) has to say “Yes, you have to choose one of them”.
I thought Wiz deserved a nod. 12 pts in 14 games, (yes the +/- is poop, but look at the team). Hopefully that brush off fires him up.

I think VA ISLES and many people out there will be surprised when they see how Tavares plays when he’s surrounded by elite talent like himself. He isn’t just good enough to play with those guys, he’s better than a lot of them. Best example is this past world championship competition where we saw what happened: put jt on a team with guys like stamkos, perry, etc. and he will shine! I believe he led the team in goals. The kid is a star and everyone knows his career will only get better and better. He will tear it up at the all-star game… streit maybe not so much…

Pick Gillies, or hell, call up Fritz to make him eligible…imagine the shock on the All Stars’ faces when he’s trying to start fights. He’s a marginal ECHL player, but it would make me watch that stupid exhibition of uselessness.
-
The Isles are lucky they were able to get two players on the ballot. Although I think if anyone belongs on it, its Roloson.
-
I can’t believe the Coliseum didn’t get the nod for the ASG this year. I really had a feeling this was going to be the old barn’s year.
-
Rolo has definitely been our best player so far, he should have been on the ballot.
-
streit, thats hilarious! kind of fitting for a team that has been an embarrassment they put a player who may not play this year as one of our allstars. been that kind of year!
-
Rolo is the only one that deserves it.
-
…Tavares would be an allstar if he was on any other team.
-
How about Hunter?
-
No one else deserves to be on it Bailey would be had he kept up his early season pace and Okposo would be if healthy. Sad to say that no other Isles player deserves to nod but that speaks to Garth Snow’s grade of D- (as in his team is fine minus the defense).
Interesting Matt Martin as of his first 6 games of the year leads the Isles in hits with 36!!!! That is darn fine work and great production! I looooong for the days when the roster is filled with more Matt Martin’s, Nino, Petrov, JJ, KK, Hamonic, De Haan, Poulin, Nelson, Ullstrom, Koskonin, and Nilsson etc. Not to mention whoever they draft in the top 4 this year.
-
roloson is a write in vote….noticed that they didn’t put duchene on the ballot for the avs.
-
Another example of how lame this franchise is right now. One of our two players on the All-Star ballot may not play all season. Should be interesting to see who represents the Isles.
-
How ridiculous is this? Streit is out for the season and Tavares has looked awful so far this year. Why didn’t they put Okposo on the ballot, as long as they were at it.
-
Who cares? We suck. The whole team sucks (except roloson) hope he gets traded to a contender. oh and mr Wang. Please sell the team! Getting my brown bag ready for the next home game!
-
Rollie is the only one worthy of All-Star ballot as of this time.
-
Crafty move by the NHL to ensure that JT makes the cut. Don’t get me wrong, I love the fact that he will be there, and I don’t know who else from our roster you would take. Still, he is as close to an NHL poster boy as the Isles have, so I’m not surprised to see him all but a guarantee to make it.
-
Islanders Suck, No one is an allstar on this team
-
Roloson is the only one who should be there.
Anybody else is an insult to the game.

id have picked rolo.
