love this news! way to sign MattyMo to a good contract… both for player and team! not sure how much he got but well deserved no matter (unless it’s DP type money haha)

  5. avatar ODG says:

Great news! Especially after last night’s debacle. Thanks CB!

  6. avatar Paul says:

    What’s his cap hit?

  7. avatar islesfan8111 says:

3.1 per year. Not a bad deal.

  8. avatar WinnipegIsleFan says:

Great signing by Garth!! Finally some optimism that this team is signing the ‘right’ players.

    Awesome!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  9. avatar Stumpy32 says:

FANTASTIC!!! Great news for once…not signing him would have really put fans over the edge.

Big smile over here…great to have MM for another three! LETS GO ISLANDERS!!!

  10. avatar Dan says:

Best Isles news I have heard in awhile!

  11. avatar isles19 says:

ok didnt see the 9.4 mill at first. good price fot both sides!

  12. avatar Eric says:

Great Signing, I am pleased. I was nervous up until last night where I read Moulson’s positive comments but I Did not expect a deal this quickly. Its a no brainer so if people want to be optimistic that the islanders management did something right thats fine, but like I said No brainer and you have to get to the cap floor..someone needs to get paid.

  13. avatar Ray says:

    AWSOME!!! and at a good price….Love Matty…..

  14. avatar MIKE says:

    No brainer.

  15. avatar isles6 says:

This is indeed an encouraging sign.

  16. avatar Isles19 says:

Garth is some poker player if you watched his interview last night with Howie Rose. Well done. Keep that business close no need for the media to be involved.

  17. avatar dynasty23x4 says:

good stuff. like the way moulson plays the game

  18. avatar Smitty031 says:

Good Job!….thank goodness no protracted nonsense with this!

  19. avatar ppugs77 says:

High Five to CB on getting this one….great news though!

  20. avatar Max'n the Hamptons says:

    haha moulson is making BANK.

  21. avatar islandersfan4ever says:

Best news in a long time! Glad to have you for a while, Matty!

  22. avatar Max'n the Hamptons says:

9.4 mil. “make him an offer he can’t refuse”

  23. avatar mht says:

Yes I have have been critical of Matt Moulson.I hope he makes me look foolish and scores 40 goals next season.

  24. avatar Turgeon77 says:

At least we can say sNOw Clue did something right…….

  25. avatar ed says:

Guess there are some players that like to play here. Now time to extend Tavares and Konopka and I will be pumped

  26. avatar C.J. says:

    Alright!!!! Big Smile.

Not enamored w/the guy as a player, but he’s a good guy, wants to be here, and is a positive influence.

Would love to see him continue to improve.

  27. avatar joe says:

He definitely earned it and he showed all of those teams, GM’s that he can play in the NHL! Way to prove them all wrong Matt! Keep it up! In two years we will be a tough team to beat!

  28. avatar Kaszycki's Krew says:

Great news ! Fair contract for the Isles and evidently for MM – as he signed it. Caps signed Semin for one year extension today…….seems like the UFA pool won’t be as deep this year – so its a good thing at least for us to lock up our UFA’s (that we intend to keep) and good for the world to take note that this is an indicator that perhaps there is some good coming our way…..Now its easy to just say ” no brainer” (as it is) – but this is a move that its also fair to expect the Wangster to screw up – and he did not. Good stuff.

  29. avatar Vic says:

Thanks…good work guys…now on a lesser level extend Zenon. Tough, hard-working character guy who is excellent on the draw. 2yr $1.5 deal

  30. avatar Big Boy says:

    Thank GOD!

  31. avatar lorne says:

I do not think extending Konopka will be an issue. Also time to extend Grabner as well.

    Good Job with Moulson Garth.

  32. avatar Dmoney says:

MATTY ICE LOCKED UP! Love Moulson and happy Snow got this done.

  33. avatar mbk says:

Nice – hopefully they can add to the core this summer and start contending next year

  34. avatar Mike says:

Can’t believe they FINALLY did something I love!

  35. avatar Strummmer's Army says:

Good Job Garth! It is what needed to happen and did. Sends a message to the rest of the NHL that guys want to stay and are not trying to force their way out.

  36. avatar Frank nyc says:

Good sign for the rebuild. You sign one then another then another. All the sudden you have STABILITY and a team with a solid, young, talented core.

  37. avatar UIF says:

Fair deal. Nice job by both sides.

  38. avatar Pablo says:

You see it is not the building!
Matt Moulson wants to get paid!
    Nice Job Islanders!!!!!

  39. avatar ERIKA TENCIC says:

Good job Garth!! Moulson is a good sniper and a fan favorite! Now, I can finally relax a little. 1 solid Step in the right direction!

  40. avatar DC23 says:

I predicted 3 years for $10 million when posting in reply to CB’s Jan 4th blog so…..Party on Garth!

  41. avatar Jim Clark says:

Good move by a GM who has no financial restrictions on improving his team. Nabokov will be boarding that plane to JFK any minute now.

  42. avatar islander68ny says:

congrats kid u deserve this contract u earned it with hard work and grit keep up the good work matty.

  43. avatar Chris says:

Awesome. Great to hear some good news.

  44. Everything has come full circle. Isles took a chance on this guy last year, and now a 30-goal scorer has taken a chance on this team. I hope it works out for the best and that it shows the rest of the league that this team is willing to reward its players and serious about putting a better product out there on the ice.

  45. avatar The New Isles GM says:

Now we can start to call this a rebuild!

  46. avatar Brother Rat says:

Awesome! I was waiting for an extension before buying a jersey!

  47. avatar 2Bit says:

Can’t stress enough how thankful I am this deal got done!! Way to go Matty!! No it’s time to lock up Grabner for a few more as well.

  48. avatar Staten Islander says:

3 more years of Matty Ice! Thank you Garth, THIS is the kind of “SNOW” we can all deal with!

  49. avatar Lou says:

STANLEY CUP CHAMPS HERE WE COME!!

  50. avatar Nyles says:

    47 . . . lol

  51. avatar Madchef says:

This is an important siging hoping that Snow will show the same love to our RFA’s this summer. on the 1st or 2nd line we need JT’s friend here, and he happens to be a pretty good goal scorer also

  52. avatar rich says:

congrats to MM. very good news.

CB love this site and the work you do

  53. avatar nyislanders93 says:

Great signing. Sends a real message that we’re not looking to rebuild forever. Keeping a proven hard worker and 30 goal scorer who wants to be here is a smart move for the franchise.

The next moves should be working on extensions for Parenteau and Konopka. Extensions for the RFA’s can wait.

  54. avatar Joe says:

Thank God!!! He deserves it. He has worked so hard to be a top player and deserves to be treated properly. Glad to hear Matt is staying

  55. avatar Mikamakela24 says:

Not sure how Isles can pay Moulson 3 Million and still play 10 million under cap floor next season…Maybe thats why they want to “Trap” Nabokov at league minimum for next season.

  56. avatar Daniel says:

Awesome news! 3 years is perfect, and the price is definitely right. Congrats Matt!

  57. avatar Orange&Blue says:

Good job, Garth! Moulson earned every penny of that contract. He will continue to be a leader and net his 30 goals a year. This is where he belongs. At this point, Konopka and Moulson are basically the vet leaders at forward. That is how young we are.

  58. avatar Tim F. says:

Good deal for player and team. Well done by both sides.

  59. avatar Sue says:

    thank god!!!

  60. this is great news. we needed some of it..now, sign zenon and I’ll be even more happy..

  61. avatar SET says:

Great for both sides. Hopefully Snow can add a few pieces on July 1 to help these guys.

  62. avatar MilburyRuinedMyLife says:

    Phenomenal news!!!

  63. avatar BIS says:

    great news

  64. avatar orngfan says:

this organization needed some good news. maybe we can pick up one or two good veterans with a PULSE this offseason and be ready for some post-season hockey.

  65. avatar IsleFan73 says:

Great news. Wow, some positive PR. I say MM goes on a scoring tear now. Next up, Snow needs to sign Konopka to a one or two year deal.

  66. avatar mike says:

now sign some swagger guys like parise

  67. avatar dedshark says:

im just hoping moulson isnt gonna just stop trying now that he earned his paycheck lol jk

  68. avatar Ron says:

    Great news!

  69. avatar dan says:

AAmazing. Thought he was a goner. Great news

  70. avatar BIGSAVE77 says:

Excellent news Chris that is on the lower side of what I thought it would take to lock him up. Good work Matt keep it up. Signing Grabner would be another great move. Parenteau I am still not sold on just yet. I would rather have a better top six forward then him but if none are available then it wouldn’t hurt too much to have him back for another season. Love Konopka it would be nice to sign him for 2 years at around 2.5 and I would be stoked.

  71. avatar LouD says:

WooooHoooooooo it’s about time! Way to go Garth.

  72. avatar Steven says:

Great signing. Hopefully more good things to come.

  73. avatar Diane says:

Great news! Here’s to Matt having a great 3 year run! (at least!)

  74. avatar Bryan says:

This is a good sign for the team, hopefully we can start getting our act together

  75. avatar Tom D. says:

Finally, a sense of good business!

  76. avatar Steve says:

Beautiful. Hopefully Matt will be with the Isles for a long time.

  77. avatar jeff says:

There is a glimmer of hope in islander land! Lets hope this has a domino effect!

  78. avatar Marc says:

Great signing. They probably gave him an extra $100k for all of the positive quotes.

BTW, saw Kate Murray on the news last night and my wife didn’t appreciate my expletives until I explained! Maybe they can make her the backup goalie since Nabokov won’t join he team!

  79. avatar Cappy says:

Sweeeet! Nice move on both ends. Now please bring back Big Z. He leaves it on the ice every night, every shift. Who better to show the yoots how to play like a pro? He’ll do more to help this team become a winner than Kovalchuk ever would have, points or not. A class act all the way. Keep up the good work Garth.

  80. avatar Steve H says:

I would not want to play poker against Garth Snow because if you saw the Howie Rose interview, Snowy made it sound like he MIGHT get something done in a month or so… totally downplayed it. I was purposely watching his facial expressions. Day-yum. Great signing! Lock up Grabner and Z too …

  81. avatar cbagwillie says:

    thank god

  82. avatar Bob E. says:

Love that it was done at a very fair rate. Let’s hope he doesn’t get lazy now. I don’t think he won’t. Let go isles

  83. avatar The Pork Chop Express says:

    Finally, something has gone right!!

  84. avatar Buster says:

Very Good! It had to be done. A trade for more picks would have been ridiculous. We need NHL ready guys to make a serious playoff push next year.

  85. avatar James says:

Nice job by Garth, but really Garth has made plenty of nice moves in the last few years, but since the product on the ice hasnt exactly improved he gets drilled

That being said this team has turned the corner because to me it is clear that teams take the Isles seriously now. This team is getting better and better.

Just think when El Nino, De Haan, Petrov, possibly another top 5 pick join this team; I like the sound of this group

    Forwards

JT, Moulson, Neilsen, Comeau, Grabner, Schremp, Bailey, Okposo, Nino, Martin, Konopka

    Defensemen

Hillen, De Haan, Streit, MacDonald, Hamonic

    Goalies

    Poulin, Koskinen, Dipietro

Pretty good looking group folks, did I forget anyone? lol

  86. avatar Y2G says:

Awesome!…3.13 million a year for a 30 goal scorer is a serious bargain…caps re-signed Semin as well, hopefully they will not have enough to keep Brooks Laich I truly think he should be our main target for free agency

  87. avatar BattFist says:

    Thank you Garth!!!!

    Lets Go Islanders!

Now its time to give Matt Martin the proper ice-time he deserves…

  88. avatar Christopher W says:

Now let’s sign Grabner to an Andrew Macdonald type deal. I’m thinking 4 years $6 million. That’s about $1.5 per.

  89. avatar TimQ says:

First good news in a while

  90. avatar isles08025 says:

Good news … party on Garth

  91. avatar RVK says:

James I agree with I think Snow gets a bit of a bum wrap. All things considered he has done a better then average job. I do think you missed 2 forwards Casey Cizikas and Brock Nelson. Casey seems to be real. As for Brock he is still in school, but everything I hear is this kid is big time.

  92. avatar Little G says:

    Sweeeeeet!!!

  93. avatar isles316 says:

As others have said, trading him would have sent the final blow to fans, the NHL and players that the Isles weren’t serious about turning this around. Hopefully this is the first move of many like it.

  94. avatar JS43 says:

Great news…Finally something Islander fans can feel good about!!!!Now if we can get some help for our young players it will give them a good feeling about the team and themselves…Overall,It is fantastic news.

  95. avatar Islebethere4u says:

Nice! Good news for a change. now lets see if Garth stays to his word and is not active at the trade deadline. Still more work to get done with a few more extensions. Grabner for one, McDonald for another. On the down side, if you asked me last year, should Schremp be on this team, I would have emphatically said yes. Now after seeing him since coming off that back injury, I’m not so sure. He is definitely not the same player with the “great hands and speed” we saw through parts of last season and pre-injury. What’s up with that Robbie?

  96. avatar J Blee says:

Wow. 93 out of 93 positive comments. Yeah, this is hopefully the beginning of a very positive domino effect. Would like to see 2 very physical yet skilled players acquired.

  97. avatar geduffer says:

Great signing…fair deal for the team and the player. He’ll have another kick at the can when he’s in his prime. Great to keep a kid who wants to be here.

  98. avatar joe says:

#85 – you forgot to mention Rhett R, Matt Donovan and the russian bad boy whp cannpt get to practice on time!

  99. avatar raul17 says:

    Knock on wood!

  100. avatar 19 Isle in NJ 22 says:

    Happy All-Star Break Everyone!!!

    Thank You Garth!!

A huge thanks to Matty Moulson for re-signing … I for one appreciate your hard work, dedication, talent and the fact you stuck around for the team and us fans.

  101. avatar Orange&Blue says:

James also forgot about 2 very good NCAA dmen of ours. Matt Donovan at Denver University and Blake Kessel at UNH. These guys are both big time players at big time hockey programs. Not to mention fwd Brian Day is the captain of Colgate and is rated as NHL ready by the Hockey News as an all-around 3rd or 4th line type player. Kessel and Day are seniors and could be signed and sent to Bridgeport at the end of their hockey season.

  102. avatar Isle be Damned says:

great signing. fair market value too. good job Snow & co.

  103. avatar scott says:

maybe theres hope…still feels far far away.

  104. avatar I'm All Out of Love says:

Good news. At least is wasn’t 15 years.

  105. avatar rich 55 says:

    Naaa Na NaNaaa!

  106. avatar Oncesince1940 says:

Great job Garth and congrats to Mighty Matt. Perfect deal for both. One more guy I’d like locked up for two years is Kaptain Konopka. Maybe he won’t be captain, but her truly is what a team player is all about. Garth was right about him over the summer.

  107. avatar Numbers65 in Ohio says:

    Nice! LET’S GO ISLANDERS!
Not watching ANY All-Star Games since there is no Islander on the big team. This will be the first year I miss it.
    Up yours for that NHL.

  108. avatar eric m says:

not getting crazy, but if JB figures it out, you could have JT and JB at center, with KO,MM,MG at the wings. thats a pretty interesting mix of wings, if money is spent adding a scoring wing. keep frans(just doesnt score) and ZK at center, and stack BC, MM, Hunter(hes under contract), thats a young crew of solid players.
toss Streit, Travis, A-Mmac,Jurcina, Eaton and Mottau(all under contract)hillen is a rfa, and de Haaan leaves jrs.
if money is spent on a #2/#3 type defender, not a bad crew.
DP in goal, Poulin as Net prospect, plus the euros.
its got potential to be entertaining, if they can stay out of the operating room. heck, just on law of averages we deserve a healthy season, right?

  109. avatar Cary says:

Best news in a long time!!

Agree with 86 that we should try to sign Brooks Laich – trade Schremp and something else to make it so!!

  110. avatar Pride-N-Passion NYIHockey says:

    Matty Moulson deserves it!
Lets Hope Wang continues to spend on upcoming essential needs.
The NYI’s need established talent this summer, we all know this.
IMO…. more so then the draft this June,
(unless its a blockbuster draft day trade)
July 1st will show if Wang’s heart for the franchise he owns, is as big as he claims.
Wang certainly has the resources to do it!
I hope his checkbook speaks louder then his words this summer?
Still have the Love for the team , the fan’s, & the community where they play.
will Skate in a pick up game here in central Siberia in the next couple of days.
Temps are finally warm enough to play.
(had been -20 to -30 for days)
still missing all that Snow falling Home;)
Will wear my blue Home Taveras jersey with Pride & hand out Islander Key chains as well as a NYI team banner
for their out-door rinks in-door lockerroom.
    Deep inside, I still believe
The New York Islanders can once again, make us Proud! (crazy…. but true!)
Charles Wang, like it or not,
will have a big say in that.
    18+ years & counting,
I hope next year will be better.
    Lets Go Isles…..Lets Go Islanders!

  111. avatar KaiserVanIslander says:

On Stephen Weiss he’s cap hit is 3.1 a year for 3 yrs this year and two more

  112. avatar StevieL says:

    Great news! Moulson is Golden!!
At 3.1 per year he can almost afford season tix in the 200′s!!!

  113. avatar Fred says:

Congrats Matt! I hope he does well for years to come and I’m looking forward to the next 3 here.

  114. avatar Frustrated Voter says:

Great news. I also like the fact that the deal was not for 15 years.

  115. avatar jamal says:

great news. now lets lock up guys like grabner bailey okposo and schremp

  116. avatar JJ says:

I hate that CB tends to downplay the positive, and uplay the negative. Yesterday, we got the whole 2 out of 10 wins. Today, something positive happens, and it’s all “oh, this was expected.”

This is an extremely positive development. Sure it was expected, but it shows that the organization is not completely insane. Plus, that they care about keeping core guys around to build a winner.

Roloson and Wizneiwski were expendable, but not MM. He’s a 30 goal scorer, is close with our franchise player and is a team guy.

Of all the horrible things said about the Islanders, I also think it’s interesting that MM speaks so highly of the org. One thing nobody pays attention to is that the players on this team ARE happy. This is a close-knit group. Certainly, there has to be some good things going on.

  117. avatar IslesHostage says:

Now we can stop the Moulson trade rumors and start the Bailey ones!

  118. avatar Gary9-19-22 says:

    WOW…GREAT…

I rethink this is the bet, real, noteworthy hockey news that has come out of Isles country in years.

Now find a way to kill the elephant in the room and we will take another step. Elelphant = DP contract. Squash that bad boy and rid the team of that cap space eater.

How about a trade.. Let’s cherry pick Ottawa. Get Fisher, I would love to look at Carrie Underwood in an isles jersey.

  119. avatar brian says:

When considering a guy like Moulson, who is not a kid, you have to ask yourself: A) What kind of player will he be in meaningful hockey games (and not the exhibitions the Isles have been playing essentially since he got here); and B) Is he a legitimate first line player? I don’t think we know the answers. IMO he needs the Isles, because he wouldn’t receive this type of ice time on a GOOD team because the top line players on GOOD teams are better than him. IMO the biggest problem the Isles have faced is the fist lines being dominated by opposing teams. I don’t have a problem with the defense, I don’t have aproblem with the 3rd,4th line type players. I do have a problem with the top line players. They have been the culprits IMO. Yes Moulson has some goals. But the top line winder he opposes game after game has many more.

  120. avatar Justin says:

    Now sign ZK…..

  121. avatar Schultz39 says:

Good move…..I see this signing more as a good sign for the organization that for once, we’re committing to salary, not dumping it. Moulson is a good guy, has some potential, and I think can be a solid contributor here (25-35 goals/year) for the next few years.

This sets an interesting bar for the next Tavares and Okposo negotiation.

  122. avatar Isles66 says:

    excellent !!!!!

  123. avatar orngfan says:

this reaction of everyone saying “great job by garth” is like that chris rock joke when he says “people are always taking credit for things that they’re SUPPOSED TO DO, like, I take care of my kids!” lets hold off on praising garth snow, it was a no-brainer-lay-up signing. now sign a real UFA who can skate the puck into the zone and set up JT!! Then we can tell garth he did a great job!

  124. avatar Lance79 says:

I don’t think this was a par move, this was definitely a birdie. We fans complain about parsimony so you could just as soon say that Snow would have saved ~$3.1 MM in cap room. I wonder if this deal was programmed from when he signed the one yr deal last summer:

    Get to the all star break with 20 goals – $3.5 mill/yr; with 15 goals – $3 mill/yr.
It must have been getting tight, he only got to 15 a week ago.

So Moulson got $3.1 MM/yr. Chris, any guesses for KO this summer? Does he get B. Little/D. Brassard money or does he get the same protocol as Moulson (1 yr, then extension at the ASB)? What about Bailey?

  125. avatar Charlie says:

I love the Matty Mo signing. $3.1/yr for a 30 goal scorer who is a good guy and a good leader and a great deal. What I don’t love is that he’s our top line winger. On a serious contender Matty Mo is a 2nd line winger. So lets hope the Islanders some how deveolop/acquire a bonafide top line winger for next year. Don’t even get me started on PA.

  126. avatar Grreenday says:

Isles ownership gets upset when it has players making more then 1 million …look at roleson…wizzer…sutton last year…they will likely trade moulson next mid season asuming they are in last place, asuming he is on pace for only 22 goals or so. Why pay a guy 3 million when you can sign another ahl free agent for 500k for similar production. Cheap johns is still in business on long island.

  127. avatar tsk37 says:

Agree 100% #123: Shows how low our standards have fallen in that we are praising Garth for doing what he was supposed to do. Also, this move means nothing unless we bring in players from the outside. Signing MM is just maintaining the status quo of the last two years and the status quo hasn’t been very good.

  128. avatar Mike P says:

Finally a big piece of the foundation is locked in, JT next. Now since were gonna get another high pick this year and with all the kids we have already I say back up the back up the brinks truck to Parise`s door this offseason and make him an offer he can’t refuse. He`s worth giving up picks for…

  129. avatar Real hockey fan says:

Good news for the organizatin and WE the Islander fans!

Hes a hard working player, scored 30 goals last year and should get 25 or so goals this year. no hes NOT a superstar, but hes a good legit player who has some chemistry with his linemates and at 27 is in his prime yrs as a player.

Nevermind the stats and him as a hockey player (which are important) BUT this also show the fanbase they are going 2 keep some of the young guys and keep em together, this is FINALLY A GOOD MOVE BY THE ORGANIZATION!!! Keep em coming!! :-)

  130. avatar Hishutzi Skorz says:

Why do some of you want to wrap up Schremp?
    a) What has he shown?
    b) Sooner or later Jack will get the message that JB belongs at center. With JT, JB,Franz, and Z, and Ullstrom, Czikas,
and Nelson in the system, where does he fit?
    c) I never thought this was possible, but he may be softer than Tambellini!

Congrats to Matt and Garth for getting an equitable deal done. What’s best about this is that a key player actually WANTS TO PLAY HERE!

  131. avatar tony dee says:

Good siging of Moulson..sents good message to fans and organization. I doubt the Isles will resign Z.K. because they have Mike Haley (soundtigers) who plays the same style.
Philly put Mike Walker on waviers (6’4 220) good size and very tough…rather see Walker on the Blueline then Gervis or Resse

  132. avatar KO21 says:

Thank You, Garth for making this happen and thanks to Matt Moulson for being a great team player and resigning w an org who doesnt get respect

tony#130-great point. I would love to see Haley with the big club. He is a good fighter as well, maybe better than ZK.
-Mike Walker won’t happen, because it makes too much sense.

Smart move on many fronts, including looking t6o future with tavares on this move.

I still think garth is a ego driven moron for what he did with CB and ive kept my promise to not spend a dime on that team till this “media blackout over CB” is rescinded

Nice to have Moulson here for awhile

  136. avatar ERIKA TENCIC says:

Matty Moulson so far has been the best Islander spokesperson of all. first he said that the players are all close and management treats them like family, which he really enjoys, and second, he backed up his heartfelt words by signing here for 3 yrs and saying he will not be satisfied until we bring the cup home. Thanks Matty, I am so looking forward to seeing you skate with the cup around our new home in queens. And I will remember that you are the one who started the good will. Continued success, we love you and are behind you 100%. Thanks to Wang and Garth, who did not let this drag on. See what the right decisions can do!! Are you listening Free Agents???

Hishutzi Skorz#129 i totally agree. Schremp is a good asset and I like him well enough, but he needs to be moved for the simple fact we need Bailey back at center.

I stated it in an earlier blog,I believe Simon Gagne {Turns 31 in February} will be an UFA come July.He is healthy now, scored many big time playoff goals for the Flyers. Is a leader and IMO would make a great Islander should he be available.

    Eric M.

I totally forgot about Hunter. What happened to him? Is he hurt or did the coaching staff realize that his poor angle slap shots from the board just weren’t working anymore?

It is so refreshing to start out my day with some great news from the Islanders. I look forward to more days like today!

  148. avatar EAF says:

it is indeed a good signing for the team, but MM is not a difference maker as chad(141) said. he is a second/third line player on a good team.
