NEW ARENA RENDERINGS TO BE REVEALED
Prior to Monday, you’ll see what you’re voting on
4:10 pm: SNY Point Blank has learned that the Islanders will release visuals of the proposed new arena prior to the Aug. 1 “Election Day.” My educated guess: Sunday’s Newsday. Newsday has also just published the major thumbs-up lead editorial I mentioned a few days ago.

Well-planned. I hope it looks so good, everyone wets themselves and gets to the polls to VOTE YES ON MONDAY!
-
I think you mean “Ignore Jacobs. Vote YES!”
… But I agree. This is so important! I tweeted JayJacobs28, “why is your political ideology more important than what’s good for the Island?” -
This is a big step. People are visual. All they see is the old building with a $400 million price tag. The question is, Mr. Wang said no architect was hired, and money won’t be wasted on one unless there is a YES vote. So what are we seeing Sunday? I imagine we’ll see The Prudential Center, but slightly changed design with blue and orange colors. Then the real architect will change this entirely if it comes to fruition.

Very good move by the Isles. I think Wang the other day with Mike on WFAN said something like he would modern the new arena after the Prudential Center and the Consol Energy Center in Pittsburgh. Hopefully this plus Newsday’s endorsement will swing some votes our way.
-
he said that the coliseum will be build by others but that wang and company will have a major influence. so maybe while it is not exact it will be close to what it will look like.
-
Great move. I want each and every voter on Monday to know exactly what they won’t get if they vote no.
Anyone else having terrible indigestion today? I swear, I’m not going to be able to relax until I know we won the vote Monday evening.
-
Honestly, I don’t care right now, I’m waiting to hear something, anything about the trade that was supposed to happen that we would all like so much…follow up on that please, give us anything, I know I’m no the only fan still checking for an update every 2 minutes praying to see a big trade made.
-
Great move! I cannot wait to see them!
-
I wouldn’t call it a ringing endorsement .,. but it’s a lot better than what I’ve seen out of Newsday the past month or so.
I have to agree with their overall endorsement statement though … I think getting to the next step is vital.
-
i dont know about you ab07, but i would also like to see a nice trade in 4 years from now–which will be impossible if this doesnt pass–so as much as i would like to see a spiffy trade, i would much rather see this referendum pass!
-
Me too 7. Waiting for this second trade is not helping either.
-
Finally the tide might be changing for us in the right direction ! !
-
Whatever they build, when/if this is built, DON’T copy the Prudential Centers sight lines. Copy the Coliseums’. I HATE the upper deck at the Rock.
GO ISLES!
Where’s this “great” deal that is supposed to go down?
-
as long as i dont feel like ive spent 2 hours in a Kansas City truck stop… (har dee har) and my feet dont stick to the ground, i dont care about sight lines…
-
Hey all eligible voters: Please vote yes. From my rather distant perspective “yes” seems the only sensible answer. We here in Nova Scotia feel a kinship with the Islanders through the Yarmouth training camps a few years ago. Hardcore fan for 36 yrs. Go Isles. Go Long Islanders!
-
P.S. First class job C.B.
-
Keep it coming Chris.
Any idea of what rallies are happening over the weekend by the unions – the team – and if any of the Islanders players are taking it to the street and talking to the common voter?
-
Been haunting jayjacobs on twitter everyday since his joke of an interview on WFAN. Suprised he hasn’t blocked me yet hahaha. If anyone wants to know, his twitter is @JayJacobs28.
Aside from that clown. I cant wait to see what the new arena will look like.
-
Long Night Ahead of me! Putting up every poster and flyer i have left near my polling station.
-
Lets do this Blietzkrieg style. Take no prisoners. Lets rip every “NO” poster in Nassau down!
-
Love the Coli Sight Lines. Colisseum feel provides a feeling that the crowd is “on top” of you when you are on the ice..which can be intimidating and provide a nice home ice advantage…Ever been the opposing team at LYNAH Rink aka the home of the Cornell Big Red?..I have and it aint fun boys and girls…an NHL size crowd can multiply the HOLY ___ factor X 10 in comparison to a Div 1 game. Keep the Tradition and modernize the heck outa the place. I’d love a vintage feel with modern touch. Get a sweet artist to do a mural of our history as a franchise. How sweet would it be to see Bossy Nystrom Gillies and crew authentically muralized as you wait in line for a 15$ Hot Dog…what you don’t think they have some behind the scenes plans to raise some extra revenue to pay for this joint do you?
-
This is a legit endorsement–couched in language meant to be as impartial and critical as possible. It is fair to both sides, stating that the opposition is incorrect on its arguments and that there are a few measures needed to go to reduce Nassau’s liability. Great! Might be too little too late, but I’m pleased that they finally came out for this after their highly critical coverage. Can’t wait to vote YES!
-
Worth noting: Gary Bettman can bailout the coyotes n other financial strapped teams but not the Islanders!!! His reasoning has to prob do with the dysfunctional stuff happening in Nassau, welcome to Long Island! I read that Nassau n the Islanders deal does not include paying propert tax. Well people reasoning I think…Nassau has problems with businesses staying here for greener much cheaper places like PA and NJ so they have to do what ever it takes to keep them here or face unemployment.
On a good note: now the red cross, church n other charities have stepped up to support the project. There reason the Islanders organization host a lot of charitable functions n donate to the sick. Think about it if this team leaves go by forever. Mr. Ryan is pleading with NIFA to step in to still stop the Monday vote…is it being afraid of the results. Funny these oppositions don’t like the deal but have never
given what should be built! Tells you they are out for there own personnel gain! -
please please build it under ground level. keep the best site lines in the NHL.
-
Let’s hope there is a giant statue of a bearded fisherman in foul weather gear holding a hockey stick to honor our Long Island roots.
-
Jim… honestly, that would be awesome. Hope youre not being sarcastic

Current Newsday poll:
42%- yes
53% – no
5% – not votingI’m really not sure this thing gets passed- if it does, it’s going to be very, very close.
-
Newsday poll is not scientific, people vote many times from different computers, phones, etc. Pay it no mind.
I was handing out info today- people were mostly indifferent, a few vehement NOs who would not even talk about it (they didnt want to hear anything). A few enthusiastic yes voters, and a few people who say they would have voted yes, but are not registered to vote. Sigh. All we can do is keep spreading the word, and- hope.
-
Chris #29, you cant take those polls seriously. the same 5 people commenting no no no are voting every minute of every day. they are not at all accurate. don’t be concerned with them. BUILD IT! VOTE YES!
-
to little too late #fail People are angry. Mangano is the worst County Exec in Nassau’s history. The people who are voting no are not going to change their minds. The undecided vote isn’t going to be swayed by a pretty picture. Wang better have plan B locked and loaded cause he is going to need WHEN this vote doesnt pass
-
All I ask for in a new arena is
1. state of the art dressing rooms/training areas for the athletes
2. wide concourses
3. good amount of leg room between rows. -
all people can do is spread the word and get other people to vote on monday….I will be voting yes beofre going to work on monday
-
better late than never….im still nervous
-
It is really a bloody shame, last week Nassau County Comptroller George Maragos said this could be a good deal for the county; But the whole issue of Arenaco LLP to provide bond ability, and cover a realistic construction of $470-$490 million dollars was NEVER ADDRESSED ! The masses are angry and unfortunately the outcome on Monday may resemble the Islander-Ranger playoff series of 1994.
-
Looks like ABLI was back at it today, but negated by Mangano & the county in later press conferences.
My 89-year old grandmother voted YES from the rehabilitation center she lives in (absentee ballot!)
-
what really is schocking is that i was able to read the whole vote yes editorial on line in the newsday article instead of the usual one line or two before you cant read any more unless you pay for it. nice that nj devils gm said nice words about a new nvmc. by the way the site lines at the nvmc use to be great until they added 2000 more seats. if you sit in the upper seats your view is obstructed and you cant see the whole ice surface. a new nvmc must have no seats obstructed at all.
-
Is there anyway you can vote through mail, e-mail, or somehow without physically being in nassau?

please let that be the headline on saturdays and sundays newsday. Its should say: “IGNORE JACOBS VOTE YES”pipe dream i know but still makes sense.
