Makes me very happy, i truly feel this team is on upswing and success is here or really close!
-
GREAT NEWS!!! So glad to have John continue his career with us. He is a fantastic player and I look forward to watching him on day raise a Stanley Cup here on Long Island. Welcome John
-
Great job garth, welcome back JT its been alot of fun watching you grow as a person and hockey player. Can’t wait for the season to begin LET’S GO ISLANDERS!!!
-
Take that naysayers. This guy is one of the more talented guys in the league… Could get a deal anywhere as a FA. YET, he stays here….. you gotta believe good times are around the corner.
-
Congrats to JT and lets get it started.
-
Looks like Snow is doing the right thing getting the core locked up longterm and adding 3 guys reasnor, rolston,Nabokov and maybe Pandolfo!! If this team can stay healthy it is going to be alot of fun to watch!!! LETS GO ISLANDERS!!!
blueSKIRTS SUUUUUUUUUUCK!!!! -
John looked like he added muscle and is ready for the next level. So glad he put those rumors to rest. Now let’s win and show every FA who refused to sign with us how stupid they were!
-
JT is a class act! So glad we got him. Excellent hands, a good heart and good head on his shoulders.
-
Great new. Now trade Bailey for Turris and this Baliey experiment will finally end.
-
This is huge. Just huge. Beyond the simple act of the extension, I really believe this proves we’re not going anywhere. Why else would a guy who could guarantee his future location next summer with another team agree to another seven years here…unless Wang guaranteed JT that the team wasn’t leaving the area.
Today is a beautiful day for us. Too bad we had the disembodied words of some SNY guy rather than Botta.
-
LOVE JT! He looks like he added a serious amount of muscle over the summer from the conference video and a photo I saw of him at the Jets game.
-
Chills.
-
GREAT signing future looking bright on STRONG island!!!!!!!!!!!
-
This is a hich character kid with tremendous poise for a 21 year old. Hats off to his parents for raising such a good kid. No wonder his teammates love him. I cannot wait to drop the puck this year, add Stanley Cups down the road and one day raise #91 to the rafters….We’re on our way back baby!
LETS GO ISLANDERS!
-
Great signing. Gee maybe we should have drafted Luke Schenn when we had the chance. I mean, I know we have a lot of tough stay-at-home defensive d-men on our roster and all but….Seriously, Garth better not get a free pass on the Bailey debacle….the kid is junk. Scouts had him as a 3rd liner at best with limited offensive upside…awesome pick Garth.
-
Jt, Grabs, Strome, KO, Nino, Moulson, Hamonic, Macdonald and Streit! They are putting the pieces together! I think this team will surprise alot of people this season, Let’s go Islanders!
-
Good wok by garth and the team to get this done. Now get bailey signed, this would not be good for josh if he has to sit out. Don’t want to see him traded, still too young and too much potential to let get away.
-
Garth signs JT for the next 7 years and you’re complaininh about Josh Bailey??Maybe JB won’t work out.So what. Garth still got alot of good players from that draft class including Hamonic, Martin and Poulin. Every years draft would look way different if it were redone 3 years later. Garth is doing a great job! I am so pumped for this team and it’s future. GO ISLES!!
-
This is great news. JT says all the right things. He is mature kid. He seems focused and driven.
I don’t understand all the negative talk about Bailey. Give him at least 2 more years before you talk about getting rid of him. He is still a kid and I think he has a load of talent. He just needs time to develop. Trust me.
-
Happy to see John commit to this Franchise. It bodes well for the liklihood of certainty in the Metro area. On a negative note,I hope there is a plan B for the handling of the Bailey situation. That should be a trade if he doesn’t sign tommorrow. If it is simply freezing him out and costing him a year of further development the resulting spite work will backfire and be detrimental as much for the Isles as it would be for the young man.
-
I just watched the press conference with jt and Garth. Does anybody else find it disturbing that John can’t read….
-
Woot Woot
-
while its great that j.t. signed, it would have been nice if the so called media would of asked real questions instead of puff questions such as getting other important star players to compliment j.t. also if snow will get a top d man, increase payroll and get protection to protect the investment of j.t. as well as the other young kids on the team.
-
The energy level in Long Island just went up a hundred notches — and in turn, around the league as well. The fact that JT has committed himself to the team shows that the Isles are for real and are here to stay! Any hockey fan should be excited about this (unless you’re a Rangers fan!). GO ISLES!!!
-
Wonderful news!!!! This really tells the league we are comitted to the youth movement and we will be successful. I knew they would do this soon. I bet Franzy extension will be made during the year.He is a solid player for this team. Very exciting!! hopefully theteam stays healthy and everyone grows!! Bailey needs to take the qualifier and earn a solid contract. Play now and get rewarded!!
-
We were due for some good news, this is just so huge. Larry Brooks wrote a few weeks ago the real referendum was if Tavares would sign another contract, well this one passed!! These guys want to win, I think it’s going to be a great season. Lets Go Islanders!!
-
I love it! The Toronto media can suck it! lol
-
JT is a class act. Love that he is a big part of our future. Can’t wait to watch him blossom into a star. This is what separates hockey from the other sports. Character and integrity like Tavares.
-
#27 I’m with you. Now their big rumor production mill is barren for 6 years.
-
People need to relax. Bailey is signed. Announcements dont get made the second someone signs a contract. he was probably sign much earlier today.
-
WOW.. the isles are back. this feels like the NEW dynasty. obviously nothing has been accomplished playoff-cup wise but this team is geared for multiple runs at the come. the isles will go deep this year. even if a dman isnt acquired at the moment, we forget that last time the isles were contending garth pull ryan smyth out of a hat. this team has me excited. oh BTW Jt is ready. hes much bigger, well spoken and he seems like he can keep this team composed through hard times. JT must get the C!!! LETS GO ISLES
-
Did tavares parents and agents encourage him to sign with the only team in hockey that has the lowrst payroll every year? Does tavares think he can win a cup and have the lowrst payroll at the same time? I wish i was 20, naive, and hopeful. Unfortunately with age comes wisdom, teams with the lowest payroll every year are lucky to make the playoffs once a decade, never mind the cup.
-
@winning..the reason why we have the lowest payroll is due to garths ability to sign guys at a bargain. frans, Amac, hamanic under a mil each. they are due for raises therefore the extra money will be spent. this team has at least 5 20 goal scorers (minimum) who are signed under 3 mill each year. Snows ability and the players willingness and commitment creates such contracts.
-
Bailey signed for a two year $2.1 million deal. I would like to see him center Comeau and Okposo like he did his first season. They seemed to click at that time.
-
@Winning #30 – It is true the Islanders have a very low payroll, but Wang is willing to spend big bucks. To some extent, the people who make a lot of money – highly skilled and experienced vets – don’t want to play for the Isles. The reality is, all of our young kids will slowly make more money. The fact that we’re near the bottom of the payroll now ensures we’ll be able to keep a lot of players around for a long time. The alternative is ending up like the Blackhawks, who had to tear their team apart right after winning the cup.
@IslesFan #31 – Bailey will almost definitely center a line with Comeau. I think Okposo and Neiderreiter will probably swing back and forth b/w the Comeau-Bailey and Frans-Grabner.
-
Good for Josh, and better for the NYI. Bailey’s signing pretty much ensures that Strome, despite how well he is looking, will NOT be rushed and properly returned to Jrs.
As for Bailey, put him at C, and LEAVE HIM THERE! -
JT your the man.I hope all is well.If you carry this team and win the cup you will be huge in entire NEW YORK.If I was you when you win the cup I would go to the city with it because. NYI did it the right way not like the 94 Rangers who bought the entire Edmonton crue to do it.All respect to messier a great player that I feel 90 was he’s mvp year.Love the sport watch the whole league play.JT you win the cup for us New York will go crazy.parade in NYC who cares about hemstead tpk.

Yeahh Let Bailey sit out an entire season…That eill help his progression….
