  1. avatar Strummer's Army says:

I had concerns over the summer with not having an open competition for the head coach position.

I had concern when the defense wasn’t fixed but I thought they had the toughness issue resolved in that Wang finally knew it was necessary. Will Isles finally dump the junk is Pandalfo, Rolston, Reasoner, Comeau, PA, Mottau and Eaton and obtain two big skilled mean d-men and promote GIllies, Haley and Nino?

  2. avatar Paul says:

Switching the lines around is not going to change who these players are. They are just not quality players.

  3. avatar Paul says:

Alan, no one in the minor leagues is going to turn this team around. Reason being, is because Snow will not surround them with QUALITY veteran support. The best he can do is bring in players no one else wants. Snow has had more than enough time to prove himself. Numerous other teams have passed the Isles. Snow needs to be shown the door.

  4. avatar Joe says:

What about the news about a new arena in Island Park? Any follow up?

  5. avatar pruggier says:

I want some more 5’10″ 150 ponders they have to be somewhere! My prediction we will be in the usual last place in March then Snow will bring up the young kids and their enthusiasm alone will propel them to the 5th or 6th overall pick. Which will further perpetuate our suffering. Then Snow will trade down a couple of slots to get more draft picks so he can draft more small soft players and then in free agency he will bring in a few more washed up veterans and the cycle will continue-if we are going to stink I can accept it just do it with all of the kids not these boring over 35 year olds- I mean is management watching the same games as us? We are in last place with them so just let the kids learn and lose Unfreaking believable

  6. avatar Bean322 says:

I love this site, but i have to admit i didnt even read through the chat. This is how DOWN i am on this team. Not much of anything in islanders country is exciting news right now.

  7. avatar Eric Cup says:

Not a great chat but I’ll chalk it up to it being the 1st time for you guys. You need to answer more questions from readers. People log on to see their questions answered and you only got to 7 of them. I’m sure there were more. Glad you’re here though – keep pluggin’.

    • avatar Kevin Schultz says:

Yeah we def want to do more chats. This one was too short for sure. We’ll go longer next time (that’s what she said).

  8. avatar Al L says:

Alan! Why do you conclude Justin DeBenedetto isn’t a worthy prospect? The kid has a goal scoring history in Juniors and is currently lighting the lamp at The Bridge. More importantly he is courageous with a snarl to his Game. Frankly I think he is at the top of the pecking order in the recall process.

  9. avatar Steven says:

I agree. I want DeBenedetto to get a decent look in the NHL before it’s decided he cannot play. I see no harm in claling him up to get a shot.

  10. avatar JTizzle says:

Joe, do you still leave cookies out for Santa Claus? You can’t believe that garbage!

  11. avatar Jon in Chicago says:

Wow. That Oilers rebuild is looking pretty good right now and how about those Panthers, they weren’t afraid to dip into the free-agent market and they’re vastly improved. And wasn’t Ottawa supposed to be terrible, they just won six in a row. Nashville never misses a beat either, just keep plugging in players. Amazing what you can do with a capable GM and coach.

  12. avatar Steven says:

Friday 5:08 and no word of any trades or call ups. Business as usual.

  13. avatar Joe says:

good point JT…i’m a sucker for arena news i guess.

  14. avatar Blizzard says:

Funny how teams in the same situation as the Islanders…AKA rebuilding teams have blown past them. Oilers, Colorado, etc. SO for the past 3 seasons the Islanders have basically gone nowhere. I for one will not pay my hard earned money to watch this crap. It was a new year, a new attitude, promise and goal scoring was supposed to be our strength. SO on opening night they sell out the joint and stink it up. they just suck and buisness as usual isnt gonna get it done SNOWANG!!!!!

Wang needs to step aside and let a real GM take over operations of this team.

  15. avatar Tom D in NJ says:

If Charles & Garth had actually done something in the off-season to make the team better instead or worse, we might have actually gotten off to a good start and had some crowds in the old barn. They still continue to do nothing but watch side by side from above a half empty arena,a soft
team with chemistry and toughness issues.
While everyone in our conference is leaving us in the dust, Cappy is a happy man. Just becomming a tired and old story.

  16. avatar Bean322 says:

Hey where are all the fans that said -”oh my god-florida spent all that money for that garbage…im glad garth stood pat and didnt overpay”…well folks maybe we should have “overpayed”…look at the improvement in a team like florida,edmonton,etc…..we are a joke!

  17. avatar KaiserVanIslander says:

I feel really bad for JT. All his talent and skill down the drain. Imagine what he could do with a real top six forward on his line. Take a guy like Kris Versteeg 5g 7a in 12 games. Panthers got him for a second round pick. I would have given this years first rounder for him! Wonder what he could do on a line with JT? Wang does not want to win. I have always stuck up for him but not this year. We could have made our team much better this year! We had a chance to really improve but we did nothing. Why? most teams can’t because of cap space. WE GOT CAP SPACE!
We are the only team in the NHL that did not try to improve. We had a team with grit, heart and work ethic. In the off season we took out the grit and half of the heart and replaced it with low talent veterans that are past their prime. I was ok with Konopka leaving because I was really counting on Haley to be on the team. What is Snow and Wang doing? The NHL really needs to help Islander fans out. Wang must go or hire a real GM. We are a joke around the NHL.

  18. avatar bob says:

    God we suck

    • avatar Danfromouteast says:

Amen to that. Well said. I couldn’t have said it better. You could say that again. And every other one line sentence bro.

  19. avatar Danfromouteast says:

Wow! From what I read off the islanders team website. Not only did cappy change lines but…wait for it… he blasted loud music. Whew that’s it they needed loud music. They are going to win it it all now. Genius just genius. You know I want to be a millionaire so now I just blast loud music and it gets me going. Mr. Capuano I think the team is past loud music. I have a better idea scratch some the old useless guys and some of the young ones that is play as if they are in their twilight years. Isn’t the loud music going to bother the old guys and DP can suffer an injury to his ears.

  20. avatar Vato Kakes says:

Maybe I will blast music during the game tonight to see if it pumps me up..I’m thinking about “Pumped up Kicks”. I get it now, thanks Captain Jack…
