Itunes gives a error message when trying to subscribe to the podcast stating that “this is not available in the U.S store”..

    Any info on that?

    • avatar admin says:

Our understanding is that we have to do a second show before iTunes makes it available for subscription. Hopefully, you’ll be able to subscribe by the end of the week since we’re doing podcasts Thursday and Friday. Thank you for the note.

  2. avatar hextall72 says:

Thankyou.. Keep up the good work!

  3. avatar Brett says:

Great job Chris, but lets get the Isles discussion before the Rangers – regardless of the fact that one is dominating and the other isn’t :) IPB is for Isles fans, by an Isles fan.

    Go Isles!

  4. avatar Brett says:

PS – I’m that sensitive right now.

  5. avatar giz says:

I would give up a number 1 pick an Nino for Ryan! With Strome an Kabanov having great years in juniors an also Petrov ready to start his nhl carrer next year the time is now Garth! Also have Lee an Nelson plenty of foward prospects.

  6. avatar sal says:

Not to sure about Strome this year. He isn’t having as good a year as last. Keep Nino.

  7. avatar juniorjunior says:

i would like to see Ryan here…

  8. avatar Dk says:

    Strome is special

  9. avatar Erika says:

This is a time when Garth needs to hunker down and figure out what it would take to get Ryan here. Kicking the tires is B.S. This is exactly the type of player that is needed on Long Island. He would be a great fit! Once we rid ourselves of the senior citizens on this team. We will be way below the salary cap. This is who Garth and Wang should be throwing money at, not some over the hill has been just so they can reach the cap floor. Don’t we have a to of prospects? This is when we see what our owner and G.M. are made of!

  10. avatar Bean322 says:

No offense but what are some of you people smoking, thinking we are gonna trade for Ryan. Jeez you win two games and you think that makes wang and garth care more or something. They are not committed!

  11. avatar The New Isles GM says:

First of all….Chris, thank you so much for staying involved with this site. Even if it’s on a smaller or different level, we are forever indebted to you. Great first podcast. Very informative.

About Bobby Ryan: He would be the ideal choice to advance this rebuild. Such a move would probably take Okposo and De Haan and maybe even a draft pick or two. Maybe more, I don’t know. Whoever get’s him though will benefit greatly.

I notice a lot of people commenting about Ryan Strome. I think this kid is a gem. He just seems like he gets it. He also trains with Tavares during the summer which I’m sure will only help his off-season development. I think this kid will have a great World Juniors tourny. He’s going to catch a lot of hockey people off guard with his abilities.

One thing I can say though going back to Bobby Ryan. If Philly or the Rangers grab him. The Islanders are in serious trouble. We already have a tough time not being 5th in the Atlantic. If that happens, Garth’s workload just increased that much more. Eventually we have to stop worrying about the draft and bring in serious talent. Who else is Tavares going to play with. He’s doing it by himself for the most part.

    Good day.

    • avatar Erika says:

Agreed. Haven’t we been accumulating a s–tload of prospects for this very reason, to get a decent player that can help us now? Its frustrating that the Rangers and Flyers get anyone they want without trying and we have to have a whole army try and bribe a middle of the line player to come here.
Oh, yeah, I forgot..we are a small market team that will continue to make ahem..smart moves. Translation: We ain’t spending a penny more than is required on this team, and we will figure out a way to avoid what is required because that is what we do best…avoid liability! …Sincerely, C.Wang.

  12. avatar danfromouteast says:

    and this

More than likely only small market would be interested because any big market is not going to want to start off with a mess like this with a questionable roster, coach, health staff, and owner. Then all you’re left with is small markets and so all wang is doing is taking a small market team to another small market which in turn will last, what like four or five (if that )seasons? Islanders are going to stay and hopefully this knuckle head of an owner will finally sell. Sure would be great if the Islanders were modeled after the GB Packers of the NFL they are publicly owned and very successful I might add. Makes me wonder can that be a possibility. That is where my intelligence runs out and the business peeps and politicians can figure that out, sure would be cool though.

  13. avatar Jon in Chicago says:

Forget Ryan. Our last few acquisitions have been Eaton, Reasoner, Mottau…those types. We won’t be getting any Ryans or Iginlas or Heatleys. Not how this franchise operates. And our GM doesn’t make trades.

  14. avatar apal says:

How the hell are the rags always interested in good players. dont they have cap issues.

  15. avatar Nick M says:

I would NOT trade strome over nino.
2 main reasons: petrov is the same thing if not better and the islanders don’t have a number 2 center which is strome(the kid wants to be here and is close buddies with Tavares which helps chemistry)

    I would do
Streit(getting up there in age and won’t be getting better)
Nino(top prospect and could fill Ryan’s spot)
Any AHL player not named dehaan or an ever pick
    2nd rounder

    • avatar apal says:

Streit cant be traded. Top dmen are hard to come by and not available in the FA market for snow.
Honestly, if i were Anaheim’s GM i would not be looking to trade with the isles if all i get back is an unproven Nino. Ryan is a true power forward who is a scoring threat.
We’d be lucky if they want Nino, Okposo and a 1st pick.

      • avatar Joe says:

I think you guys forget that Bobby Ryan plays with two all stars on his line (getzlaf and Perry). Trading Nino, Okposo, and a 1st pick would be the dumbest trade.

      • avatar since 74 says:

Streit? Top dman? What games have you been watching? He would be a third pairing on any other team.

  16. avatar Nick M says:

Why can’t Streit be traded? He is 34 years old. He’s almost done. Might as well get what we can now. Besides he will definitely not be around or a factor when the islanders make playoffs

    • avatar apal says:

I wouldn’t trade Streit unless i was assured Snow would sign good Dmen in the offseason. i dont think Snow will over pay for #2, #3#4, #5,#6 or even #1 Dman at FA time. I refuse to be optimistic when free agency begins because we have conservative owner and i lost faith in Snow.

  17. avatar apal says:

First of all, I think the Ducks a being foolish to give up on Ryan so quick. 24 yr old PF who is not in his prime yet. Ryan is getting jerked in Anaheim, playing on the second PP unit with scrubs. Selanne is taking his ice time on the PP all season and the expect Ryan to produce more? Even Perry sucks this year. They better trade him for an established scorer because the Duck will be crying once Old hag Selanee retires.
This is as stupid as Snow trading JT because the isles are struggling. Just stupid!

  18. avatar jeff wall says:

Oh so close on the scoreline CB:) Perhaps we can keep count on your hits and misses for the season.

    thanks for the podcast.

    Islanders 4-Blackhawks 3 (SO)

  19. avatar Nick M says:

Upgrade D or not Streit is getting old. I still think its ok to suffer this year to see others step up and to hope snow spends (I know I agree its a long shot)

  20. avatar Rich L says:

Hey New Isles Gm, article in the NY Post states that the Rangers GM is “eyeing” the Ducks winger Ryan, it may caused nightmares for you, and many of us if they do pick him up, and that is the difference between them and us, they make moves, while Wang sits and stagnates, while Snow just vegetates.

  21. avatar Ryan says:

Let’s all chill out on the Bobby Ryan talk. We all know it isn’t gonna happen, and even if it was, it would probably be a very steep price for a player who has never put up more than 71 points in a season, and has 12 points in 24 games this year. Don’t get me wrong, he would obviously improve our team tremendously, but I don’t think a draft pick and a fringe prospect are going to do it. If I’m Anaheim, I ask for our 2012 number 1 pick, Strome, and another top chip like Okposo or Hamonic. In my opinion, far too much to give up unless it is for a super-duper star. Yes, I just made that word up.

  22. avatar moonshine says:

most trade suggestions go overboard in one or the other direction. imo you won’t get ryan if okposo is the best piece you’re giving up. niederreiter has to be included instead, and/or the 2012 first round pick. another possible chip would be hamonic.
streit has value but not to a team like anaheim that’s already playing out the string like the islanders.
but you don’t have to trade hamonic+strome+#1, or any such thing. i’d like ryan, but there’s a difference btwn paying full fair value, and giving up too much. ryan doesn’t make the islanders contend.
of course the lousy thing is if he ends up in the division, which is very possible.

  23. avatar MarioGazz says:

Ducks fire Randy Carlyle, hire Bruce Boudreau

  24. avatar Nick M says:

    I wouldn’t mind Carlyle

  25. avatar Dk says:

Again if we want a LW from Anaheim get ready for Jason Blake, don’t hold your breath on Ryan.

  26. avatar Doug F. says:

SInce Anaheim hired a new coach I would think they would hold on to Ryan for now. I’m sure management will want to see if Boudreau can get them going before making a trade. However, if there is a trade for Ryan, I agree with Chris Botta, the Islanders have the chips to make a trade with them. Ryan would be the perfect power forward for Tavares, similiar to what Clark Gillies was with Brian Trottier. If I was the Islanders GM, anyone not named Tavares, Harmonic and Grabner would be available.

    • avatar Junior junior says:

Grabs would be available in my book, guy can’t finish. Proven too many times.

      • avatar Doug F says:

I agree with Grabs doesn’t finish but he too good a skater to let go. Once he learns to put the puck in the net more consistently…watch out…

    • avatar moonshine says:

if i were anaheim, anything not including hamonic would be a lot less interesting.

grabner+okposo, or grabner+nielsen, or one of those guys+the 2012 1st round pick, might get me talking only if i really made up my mind already to move ryan.

but the chances of boudreau liking anyone from the islanders’ roster don’t seem that good to me.

  27. avatar smitty says:

dylan reese has been called up ,mcdonald is out with a leg injury

  28. avatar Dk says:

Dylan Reese and Mottau in the same lineup? Hello 32 minutes for Streit and Hammer.
