You are so right. This team is doomed, nothing can be done to right the ship because there is no one here to right the ship. It’s like someone posted a last night. There is no experience on this team from ownership to hockey operations to coach to players. Nothing will be done because they don’t know how and what to do.

That comment is so relevent to the lack of success of this team. The combined cap hit for yashin, DP and Rolston is 11.7 million. And we have the lowest payroll in the league. How can they compete! All we can do is hope Snow has more brains than we give him credit for because as long as Wang owns the team it will be Snow’s job for at least another 5 years anyway.

I just turned on my “Girlfriend” team the Panthers. They have come back from a 3 goal deficit and tied it on a shorty, then killed a 5-3 power play. Their building is going NUTS.

Been there since the beginning, saw the good and would never in my wildest dreams imagine that the “worst” could overshadow the ‘good” to the point that it seems like it never happened. Right now, I’m sitting here typing this with the feeling like I just don’t have anything else to give when it comes to being supportive of this travesty which we have become. It’s Goundhog Year on The Island! Every season looks the same, they fold before Thanksgiving.
Everything that Garth did this summer has blown up in his face. Rolston for Hunter. Signing Reasoner. Not signing Konopka. Not buying out DP. Not bring in a physical d-man.
1st-I would dump the Over the Hill Gang beginning with Roltson and Reasoner.
2nd-Trade Bailey for Michael Komisarek
3rd-Somehow get Konopka back. Would the Sens take Comeau and mid-round pick for Z?
4th-I would send Hamonic back to B-port before his game gets ruin by the crapyness
5th-Do not Hire Doug Weight as the next coach. This team needs a real NHL coach and not the buddy of the owner and GM
6th-Take DP goalie stick away and nail his sorry ass to the beach or even better the press box
7th-Wang should apologized to the fans-

Have to comment one last time tonight. A boycott simply won’t work. The Isles will continue to get there 5,000 and not enough of the fan base is on this site.
However, start the ‘Snow Must Go’ chants. That will be heard more loudly and everyone will get in on it. As it continues to be chanted game in and game out, it will represent our best chance at change.-

Do you honestly think Charles Wang will sell the team because fans are chanting “Wang must sell?” It will do nothing but dig him deeper into his bunker where he can concoct his next great plan, like sign an “alleged” NHL goalie for 15 years, hold training camp in China, or get his new arena by NOT playing ball with the politicians.
He is an arrogant man who made millions running a questionable business. It’s his way or the highway!
Snow’s hands are tied by Wang.
Cappy’s hands are tied by the lack of talent provided by Snow.Until he get an owner who is “hands off” and will allow his hockey people to run the team, this is waht we’re stuck with!

Guys, I really think it is time for Bettman to have a friendly heart to heart talk with Wang about getting an established GM and let him hire an NHL caliber coach. This mess is actually looking worst than last year because the team does not have the injury issues this year. This rebuild has failed and the environment around the franchise is toxic. Something is going to have to give here. You can’t fire 2 coaches in 1 year. I think Garth’s job is in serious jeopardy and if Wang does not fire Snow, then clearly he can care less about this franchise and is owning this franchise because he can’t dump it. The franchise right now does not deserve a new arena. We need organizational changes NOW!

Here are a few things I truly don’t understand. Players that last year looked like they had SOME passion, looked like they could keep up speed wise on the ice, looked like they were willing to bang some bodies, looked like they had some offensive talent, HAVE NONE OF THAT this year. It’s amazing how the team struggles to make to passes in a row, and it shocks me to see how much faster other teams are than our players. Even Grabner! And don’t say he’s not skating, because he looks like he is! I just don’t get it. Would love to hear someone explain the drastic difference in SKILL between Jan 2011 and November 2011.
Also, whomever said that AMAC was having a horrible year was dead on. Doesn’t take the body this year, and looks slow. The players don’t develop, they regress.-
They have the wrong leadership on this team. PandAWFUL, Rolston, Staios and Reasoner is not what this team needed. Like Brian Burke did in Toronto, he gave up somethings to get something. Phil Kessel didn’t come cheep but it’s starting to pay off. Also J.M Lyles, Pheneuf, Lupul. See what a real Gm can do.

Have to agree AMAC isn’t the same player after his injury. Same with Okposo. After the injury he’s a shell of what he was. Then theres Bailey. I don’t know if anyone remembers but before he was hurt he started last yr as one of the best players on the ice. Although it was early on he was still a very good player for that short time. You have to wonder how much injurys effect these players. Granted thats NOT the problem with this team but those are three players that aren’t playing up to their potential after coming back from a major injury. Just a thought.

I can’t understand why Capuano doesn’t play a more defense trap like system. The team has never played 60 minutes so why not play the trap if they are going to play 2 periods of good hockey at best.
This is something he hasn’t done yet and probably never will. Wang/snow probably oppose the trap. -
Anybody calling for roster moves must realize none are coming. The Isles can’t send down the people they need to because they would fall under the salary cap floor. What you see — a team that is every bit as bad as the 1972 expansion club — is what you will get for the rest of this season.

This season is over earlier then last season, and Okposo & Streit are even healthy this year….no more excuses Snow, you should be fired, you are the worst GM in sports.

Write directly to Wang Guys, I guarrantee he’s not hearing us on PB. Also, a boycott is not an effective way to hurt a billionaire. This will only justify his moving the team out of the market. (which may appear to be what he wants by his actions) To see this through we need to vocal about our wishes for a competent managment team to put togther a team that can compete in the NHL. We also need to be vocal that our support will be there for the franchise if that product is delivered.

My mistake dork…$ 890 million net worth as per forbes in a VERY old article. couldnt find a net worth on him for 2011…doesnt matter anyway…he is an awful owner to put us through this.
BTW, I never heard Charles Wang say he wanted to win the stanley cup… one statement saying he wants to win…funny, I’ve never heard him say anything close to that.

To much passing up shot opportunities to much lackadaisical play too many turnovers too much playing on their heals figure it out. Your an embarrassment to the NHL, Where real guys come to compete night in and night out. Enough of Wang and Snow its the players on the ice. Sure management didnt make it better, but these guys need to pull up their panties and compete. Make a hit create a turnover. Take shots from everywhere. Physicality leads to turnovers and taking an opponent out of the play. THese guys need to show more. Weve seen what they were capable of. What happened to that blazing speed the team was known for. Is it that defense cant move it fast enough or they take to long to move it and forwards stuck in our zone can clog up the neautral zone. Why is it every game the opponents look to have so much more space on the ice and can make 2 or 3 passes and constantly create odd man rushes or be wide open at our blue line with little opposition. I dont have the answers does anyone? Why did we get rid of martinek and hillen both guys could skate and join the rush. How come our guys besides streit cant shoot a one timer and wait 2 to 3 seconds to let the opposition get in position to block a shot. Inexcusable. Rant Over

This is exactly what I don’t understand (see above) – from day one this year the guys are slow on everything, from their skating to their shots. Have you noticed how LONG it takes an Islander to get a shot off? Tell me, how the hell does that skill to fire a one timer or snap a wrist shot quickly disappear in less than 8 months? I’ve never seen anything like it, and I’ve been watching hockey for 25 years…

Letting one of our top 4 defenseman go and keeping a bunch of traffic cones….Konopka may not have been an offensive player, but he provided heart – something that this team does not have. Eaton, Mottau, etc have to go. Bring up Reese, DeHaan (when healthy), etc. I am tired of watching our “D” look like a revolving door.

Snow can’t make any real moves because he isn’t allowed to financially. Wang is just operating this franchise as cheap as possible until he finds a buyer. Most of the multi-year contracts signed in the off season are back loaded…which will be long after Wang unloads the team on some French-Canadian suitors in Quebec City. I have tried to be optimistic that Wang is trying to do the right thing, and that the arena situation will work itself out, but it is dead.

One more thing you put an aspiring goalie to the fire for his first NHL game totally unprofesional who would do that to the kid Now his confidence is gone who do you play now ???? RICKY in phili, how many times did he get lit up there last year was it 8 to 1 The nteam really would help themselves sout if the stuck with a goalie and the team could build some confidence around A goalie and not have to guess whoes playing goal for them. I dont remebr if you all remebr but Ken daneko said not haveing confidence in your goaltender can tear a team apart. A good example would be Toronto. Look at what happened when Reimer went down.

Montoya should of been the number one and played more often than he was He got the team off to a good start but than you play nabby than put in DP it messes with a teams chemistry. A goalie is a huge part of it not Goalies 3

I disagree It does matter whoes between the pipes, if that so called guy can give your guys the confidence to score goals. Or on the otherhand your more concerned about playing defense because you dont think they can stop the puck. If you have a rock in net It can lead to more production on the ice. A big save goes a LONG WAY. The boys can just play there game and not worry to much on t he defensive side of the game. Thats what I believe Montoya did for the group last year and was a big reason for there late season success . This goalie carousel with neilsen being the fourth is having a bigger effect than we all think. Granted its not the full problem but it is definitely part of it.

I would venture to say that the last month of play has been way worse than last year’s losing streak. At least during last year’s streak we scored goals! Even if the Islanders fire Cap, who would take this job?

We’re just not a good team and if Cappy is gone or not, we’re still going to be a bad team. What we’re seeing is JT and a bunch of 3rd liners, 4th liners, and has beens playing on the forward lines. These guys have no pride in their games and at what point do you have to point fingers at the players that this organization brings in and not the coach? Its the same old same old. The players tuned out Sterling, the players tuned out Nolan, the players tuned out Gordon, and the players tuned out Cappy. At what point is it the players faults? This will not fix the teams problems but would allow all of the fans to be released from this travesty. Its one thing to not win a Stanley Cup for 40 years or more like some clubs but far different to root for a minor league equivalent at the NHL level for almost 30 years now. Bettman needs to wake up, lowest attendance for 3 consecutive years and the fans are ignored every step of the way. You know I’m not a big yashin fan but before He and Peca came to long island the islanders were even worse than this. Everyone always critisized the Yashin for Spezza and Chara deal but with Yashin they made the playoffs instantly. The islaners have enough in the prospect pool that they can make a bone-head deal like this and ulike the Yash/Spezz deal they’ll survive it and be better for it. If you want something you have to be willing to five up real draft picks and prospects and maybe you can land a rick nash or a cap troubles team.

From an on ice standpoint,I see the scoring problems lying in our own end of the ice. How the hell can you have any rythmn and continuity offensively when you spend the better part of 20 minutes each period losing battles in your own zone and subsequently shorthanded if not scored upon 5 on 5?
AMac,a two year player is being looked upon as a co-leader with Mark Streit,who can’t backskate. As a result,the former is lost. Travis Hamonic has regressed because there isn’t any sufficiently skilled veteran leadership to support his youthfulness. Milan Jucina,all 6’4″ 235 lbs of him is showing why he was scraped off the bottom of the barrel when acquired. Uwe Krupp he is not!
Tavares,Neilson,Grabner and Moulson are productive if not in Johns case terrific offensive players. Ditto for the underrated PA Parenteau who for reasons unbeknownst to me gets slammed repeatedly here. Void of any defensive headman release passes,they are not going to set up plays or score goals.
Of course according to my conspiracy theory,what we are seeing was brilliantly orchestrated by an owner who is looking to disenfranchise a local fanbase and comfortably hand over our beloved Islanders to a fellow residing due NORTH named Pierre!-
It all starts from the defensive end. We need D men who can move the puck or make a pass and not be satisfied with just clearing the puck out of the zone. I’ve seen midnight hockey league teams look better than this.

In April 2009, I went to the Roosevelt Field Mall with my parents. I remember this vividly because it was just a couple months before the John Tavares draft. As we were in Dick’s Sporting Goods, my Dad and I spotted Scott Gordon and went over to say hi to the then head coach of our favorite team. At that time, the team was mainly very young players, and so I asked him how he liked coaching such young players. He responded, “It’s fun to coach players that want to work.”
It doesn’t hurt that we’re losing to teams like Boston and the Pittsburgh Crosbys. It hurts that we’re losing because we don’t have the heart or the will power to compete. On February 2 of this year, the Islanders bullied the Penguins so hard that their GM had to complain about it. Today, we played dead. THAT is what makes this sickening. Us fans are still here, yelling at our TV screens telling our players to hustle, to shoot, to hit someone, to show LIFE! This team isn’t showing respect to the fans by giving us an honest effort, and it kills me.
This MIGHT not be Capuano’s fault, but he needs to be replaced with someone better. When a coach can’t inspire the team to bust their ass every shift, he is useless. Dan Bylsma is a good coach. Even after his team was up 5-0, he wouldn’t let them let up. That’s what makes a winner. Rolston, Pandolfo, and some of these other old bums that don’t remember how fortunate they are to be playing in the NHL need to go. David Ullstrom hustled tonight. Nino has been working hard. I guarantee that Haley and Gillies wouldn’t ever slack off. Young guys who want to live their dream like Cizikas and De Haan would not check out.
It is time to push this “rebuild” somewhere fast. We have a billion prospects and what will be a top-3 draft pick once again. I’m so freaking sick of draft parties. Combined with some currently defunct players like Comeau and Bailey, there are trades that could be made for veterans. Building through the draft won’t work for 3 more years, and us fans just can’t wait any more. Get skilled players who have something left in the tank and the effort to win. Let’s salvage something this season and make sure that once again we are a team that plays hard every shift. I want to see the team that showed up last February against the Penguins and made Sidney Crosby glad he was already out with an injury. What happens to this franchise WILL be defined by the next 3 months, and that’s entirely on management.

you cant hire a new GM, nobody wants the role on a cap minimium team, with a huge bad long term deal(RdP)and major arena issues.
your not waiving players with one way contracts unless you have replacements. the best only/choice from BPort is already up.
suck it up ladies, unless this team that provided five 20+ goal scorers breakout of it, its gonna be a long season. we should be better then our record, but we are not. -

Amazing, people just like to hate someone i guess, but how can DP actually be in any topic of hate after the game. Have you not realized its not the goaltending thats the problem. The defense on this team is terrible. I’ve been a goalie my whole life and have been a goalie coach, neither of the 3 are playing bad at all, but when you have to compensate your angles because your defense is not covering their positions, and your offense hasn’t scored in over 2 games, you try to do too much. How about a little support for a guy that’s gone through the continuous injuries and worked is ass off to get back? Never complained and is never a negative person toward the team. Name one player past or present or even yourselves, that would have turned down a contract. I hope all the people that like to talk about him and ask for his head have to face the adversity he has had to face. He didn’t hurt himself on purpose and was an allstar goalie before hand. Place blame where it belongs, Charles Wang. Garth Snow has made some good moves, but when you owner will struggle to get below the salary floor, your hands are pretty much tied. So for all the people clamoring for Haley and Gilles, check on what that would do to the salary structure and realize, his hands are tied.

This is what you get when you play a defense that should be predominately retired, an offense that should be predominately in the AHL or Junior hockey in canada. You spend at the cap floor and you should be performing at the NHL floor. Which is exactly where these guys are performing. What did you expect, a Stanley Cup!?!?!? This franchise is as far away from winning a Cup as any franchise can be. Mr. Wang, pony up some coin and buy Long Island a winning team, we deserve better, just based on the teams history. Al Arbour and Bill Torrey must be sick at their stomachs right now….disgraceful.

Players change, coaches change (God do they change). Even Milbury left and HE DID LEAVE. Milbury was not fired he asked out once had the bucks to put his kids from his second marriage thru college.
