If he sells the team, it will leave at this point, imo. If he keeps them, we keep this dysfunctional management. So I think the poll question is– Would you rather have the Islanders as is — or — have them leave?
-
Leave. What is the point of follwoing perputual losers. Team is going nowhere until Wang sells.
-
If Wang were to sell, this team ain’t going anywhere (geographically). A pro sports team has not left the NY metro area (including NJ) since the Brooklyn Dodgers! If a pro team cant survive in NY, then professional sports is dead!!
-
Uhm. Nets?
-
I don’t believe Wang is the problem. He bought a team no one else wanted. If anyone else buys this team, it will be to relocate it. Who has the money to buy this team and keep it on Long Island, where it does not make enough money to be self-sufficient. That’s why Wang and the former owners wanted to develop the land surrounding the Coliseum, they wanted to use the money from that to support the team.
-
I said including NJ!

we are last in the east again….when will our so called GM make a trade???? He is a horrible GM
-
Trade what? Who wants our garbage. Bailey, Comoeu and KO are overrated by us.
We are struck.
Isles cutlure needs to change and it start with the Wang selling the team. When anyone around he league hears Isles they think of losers. Not going to change until Wang sells.

for god sakes, look at how little it took for CBJ to get letestu from Pitt. Wake up Garth, there are trades to be made out there, whether it’s team battling the cap or trying to bring in some young talent or possibly a vet/goaltender. I know we aren’t necessarily ready to make our Nabby deal after that terrible audition on VS. the other night, but we sure should be able to make a deal like CBJ did this afternoon..a 4th Rounder for Test Tube…no brainer! Get your picks out Garth we have enough talent up our sleeve for the next decade, now is the time to surround your young core with players not has beens.
So often I have preached patience! Let us do this rebuild the right way…and we have done a good job for the most part of avoiding pulling a Milbury and trying to patch together a playoff contender on a year by year basis, but its TIME! Surround the young core with talent, not wisdom! We needs W’s not thoughtful condolences from the Veterans after we lose games.
come on already, make it happen. MSG + advertised some big whig with mad money possibly making a move in regards to the Arena, are there any updates on if this was hearsay or any truth? I believe a new building is one of the best ways to recruit talent…it says we are here, we are a dynasty, and we arent going anywhere just look at this fresh new crop of kids and this state of the art facility….attendance is up this year COME ON ALREADY!
bAHHH back to work this is starting to become a laughing stock. Do we wanna see this losing streak compete with last years 20 gamer or do we wanna give the kids a chance to turn this slow start around?
-
Please…… no more talk about all these prospects. When you finish at the bottom year after year after year…. yeah, you’re going to have some prospects to talk about. Problem is, there are no guarantees with prospects.
-
I agree it is just a waste of time, and most of them will not fully develop because Snow does not have the brains to bring in quality vets to school them.
-
-
Toronto showed interest in comeau for komisarek(sp). now they need a goalie and are obviously willing to part witt not only komisarek but also Franson. So i dont want to here that there is nothing available because a LOT of players that would be coming in from a trade would be an upgrade then eaton mattau jurcina and staos.
-
You guys kidding? We’re 2 games under .500 and the season is a month old… chill out. Did you even listen to the interactive? Just be patient.. who said we were going to be winning it all anyway this year?
Awesome interactive Botta!
-
They are in second to last place, and they are basically the same team as last year. Which as awful as well.
Patient….ROFL!
-
Lindsey,
It’s not as early as you think. Look at the standings. This team is already 6 points out of a playoff spot, dead last in the conference and 29th overall.
-
How DARE you use reason!!
They will improve, but its clear moves to be made. We need to cut out the hangers on (Staios, Pandalfo, Rolston) and make a trade to get rid of the 3 headed goalie problem.
-
-
upstateisles i agree with 100%.. its a bunch of bull to hear that garth has been trying to trade since august. you have to give to get. some players will not be on the teams due to the influx of prospects and current players. long to make a trade. ryan smyth trade was perfect. that is what im looking for
-
Garth Snow: “This is an exiting time to be the Islanders Fan”
Hey, Garth, I will be exited when you trade Bailey, Comeau and Nabokov for somebody who can actually contribute (you can add Reasoner, Eaton, Motteau to that list if you want). We are last in the east again – this is the time to pull the trigger.
-
you forgot okposo, he’s the worst of the players on your list.
-
I’ll be excited when Wang and his PUPPET Snow are Gone. If the team goes,so be it. Can’t watch anymore!!!!!!!!!
-
-
“Everythings fine here folks. Staios is fine. KO is fine. Snow is fine.” Yay Sugar
-
Why do the islanders exist? To make $$? Nope. To win cups/games? NOPE. The exist for one reason only. Without owning the Islanders, Wang is another old man living on the north shore, living off of old money, yashins, the dipietro’s, the kevin conneleys (entiurage) of the world, wont call him, wont hang out with him, simply wouldnt care for him. Nobody would ask Wang for a autigraph, he would no longer be famouse. This is why WANG owns the team. The losing, failure, nepotism, and disgrace is just what charles Wang is all about. At computer asociates, with the Isles, he doesnt care about anyone but himself….and dipietro.
-
It weird ! CB as a guest speaker on IPB

Please find a fix so iPhone users can see these videos.
-
I live in Edmonton and there is no difference except a goalie with a .98 GAA and a .968 save percentage. The Oilers don’t score and are boring, just like the Isles. Paarjvi is their Bailey and Gagner is their Okposo. Play Montoya at least.
-
I’m really worried about KO. It almost looked like he’s worried about hurting the shoulder again.
-
Patience??Please!!I don’t want to hear that word any more.I think Islander fans have been patient enough for all these yrs.I don’t care if its only 1 month into the season. The season will be lost in a blink of an eye. This team is missing a lot of pieces. We need to make changes whether its from within or through trades.I don’t want to hear about prospects anymore,so I can get excited about them and then they are busts. All these other teams rebuild quick and are contenders and we continue to be in the bottom five every year.Wake up Snow or just resign!!!!!
-
There are some obvious holes on this team. That being said, noone said this was a cup year. My expectations are to, however, make the playoffs. For that to happen okposo, comeau and bailey will have to contribute on a nightly basis. They also need to improve on D. I am not worried about any of the 3 goalies. What concerns me is Nabakov gets traded, DP gets hurt and you are back to only Montoya although Poulin proved he could play.
-
Patience is the last word die hards on this board want to hear. All we ever been is patient. If we were the rangers or even the devils fans would be calling for snow’s head on a pike. I hope by god that Garth is working the phones . If he thinks this team is a eighth seeder after that beantown meltdown , he’s a dreamin’
-
If Isles can’t sign free agents, then the only course of action is to draft and hope those players pan out.
If they don’t pan out then they can’t even be used for useful trade bait, so I am not sure what trades people expect.
-
That would be fine, except that this team simply does not draft well. Other than JT, all of their recent 1st round picks have either flopped already, are flopping right before our eyes or have yet to step up and make this lousy, depth-bereft team. Of their dozens of later round picks the past few years, only Nielsen, Comeau, Hamonic and MacDonald have made it to the big club and stuck.
-
-
KO is very disappointing. He seems a shell of the player he was. Something has to be up with him.
-
You can’t win when you have 5 legit NHL forwards, 3 legit NHL defensemen and 2 legit NHL goalies who mostly back up an AHL-caliber goalie. That’s only half of a team. Teams like the Bruins, Flyers, Penguins and Capitals have 20 legit NHL players. The free agency period told me all I needed to know about how serious the Islanders were about winning. Players were signing in droves to the most moribund, fan-devoid, low-profile franchise in the league (the Panthers), yet the Isles continued with the ‘woe is us, no one will sign with us’ routine. However, I did get caught up in the Tavares signing and actually thought for a minute there that maybe things will be different. Now I know better. It takes a 6 game losing streak for the coach to even juggle the lines. It doesn’t matter how well Montoya or Nabokov started off the season, DP is going to play whether he deserves to or not or whether it hurts the team on the ice or not. Only one roster move has been made since the team began this 1-5-2 slide, and that was to demote one of the few players on the team who plays with any kind of toughness at all. Nothing ever changes with this team.
-
….I have to agree. I do not want to hear how no one will sign with us. If they sign with Florida they will sign with us. Cant stand this perpetual ineptness.
-
I don’t agree that if players will sign with Florida, they will sign with the Islanders.
Florida is warm weather and no state income tax, a newer arena and they were in the Stanley Cup finals more recently than the Isles.

It’s hard to be cheery when we are again last in the conference and 29th to the well documented Columbus disaster. It’s sickening watching this team.
Kyle Okposo has been visible invisible out there and I would love to see him scratched a game or two.
How many Ricky questions did Botta have to thump through to find these question? -
Quite frankly I Understand currently we don’t have the players we are willing to part with playing to there potential for any team to have interest in them. But that all falls on snow. In the summer Comeau had some interest from A few clubs but he didn’t pull the trigger. At the draft Minnesota was willing to part with burns but Garth didn’t engage in a trade. Snow hasn’t stepped up when times have called to make a bold decision. People can talk about the Ryan Smyth deal but it is easy to trade prospects that you didn’t draft and have no liabilities to any bust. With that said snow has no balls to make a trade with any magnitude that will improve the team significantly because he has the fear of failure. Or perhaps Wang doesn’t let him but I don’t believe that because snow had the “green light” (ehrhoff). Milbury trade prospects that had not even developed or played a full season in the NHL. But at least he had the balls to take a chance. High risk high reward. What did we expect? Negligence to improve your roster will translate to failure on the ice. Simply put the product on the ice sucks. Rebuild or no rebuild. Snow has the pieces to make a trade and I do NOT want to hear excuses about availability of players. There aren’t too many untradable players. You want someone, offer something that won’t be refused. Not everyone can stay with the islanders. Not enough spots.
-
The expatiations for us fans is what Snowflake made us believe in the offseason, to make playoffs. He went as far to call former season holders to renew their ticket plans and stated that his isnt done. what a smack in the face! Per Snow, (the rebuilding is over)
So i guess snow is playing with are heads yet another season. this is what i take from this segment. Thanks for clarifying.
Last time i bought ticket plans was the Yshin/peca playoff days. I know what a playoff roster should look like and will give my money to wang willingly when i see it. Just spare me of wang and snows BS. Im to old for this. -
Hey Garth suck up your pride. give Samsanov a contract and get rid of one of these old FA additions. I dare you.
-
I am from Alberta and have been an Islanders fan from their first game in the NHL. I think we’ve all be patient here for many years, and after watching the Bruins/Isles game I was nearly sick to my stomach. There is basically no Defense with the exception of Streit. Comeau/KO/Nabby gotta go man and give Al a good lengthy starting assignment. Reasoner and a couple others are basically invisible so lets get going here right NOW before this season is wasted yet again. Yes its early but before you know it its too late. Personally I feel Snow has done a fair job but come on guys get some experienced talant here and push your way into contention
-
So bewildered by CB’s assertion that “Garth Snow will always be our head of hockey operations.”
The obvious question is: why? If someone underperforms his or her job, he needs to be held accountable, namely he needs to at least have the risk of being fired. Or else, what is this person’s incentive or pressure to do a better job?
If this Islanders team continues to under-perform or if the players Snow drafted and developed under-perform and if the FA signings don’t work, why isn’t Snow held accountable?
I preface this by saying that you don’t get trigger happy either but what is the point of employing someone indefinitely make sense?
Ugh.
-
Here’s why-
Because the team is on the selling block and Garth’s job is only to keep the valuable draft picks coming and to keep the salary at the cap floor. No arena? Wang is done. It is very clear that Wang has no desire to put a winning product on the ice at this point. The best we can hope for is a new arena in NY. Then the money will be spent on the team. Unfortunately it looks like time is running out and there will be a nice shiny new arena in Quebec in 2015……I hope im wrong though.

judging by the comments most people are proving why you can’t be a fan and play GM at the same time… I think someone said KO is overrated. Unless u view him as a 70 point player I dont think he’s overrated. Play the red hot bruins coming off like 3 games in a row where they scored 5 or more goals? shesh whose going to be praising them next month if they get there scoring going and go on a nice tear. This offense will get going.
-
It is not our job to be GM.But you comparing the average fan to Snow says a lot.
For the record anyone of us could finish bottom five. The won games when there was no pressure last year. No we see the real Isles.
As for Okposo he is pathetically soft.
-
I diagree with you, be real, the best case scenario this team is expected to finish 8th maybe 7th. They are not by any means expected to be domiant. So I mean where there at now is not really that big of a deal.
I’m not going to condemn guys because of a slow start. Okposo pahtetically soft… Fans and experts are calling this guy the future captain of this team. The guy is not soft he’s having a rough start. Unless you count the 20 some odd games he played last year this is only the guys third season. Snow may get bashed a lot, but he has done a pretty good job identifying talent. Smyth for two guys who never panned to be anything, the wiz for a 3rd and flipped hiim for a second, and grabbing Moulson, pap and grabs to come in and put up good numbers.
This team is better then it has played so far
-
-
-
I have supported GM Snow from day one up until this season. He has done a good job considering the circumstances of this franchise. (Ie: locking up Tavares, and the other young core… I think we are all surprised that Comeau, KO and Grabner are struggling)
HOWEVER……….. things have not panned out as planned this season. I agree with most who say that if Snow doesn’t make an impact move and just sits there watching this season turn to dust, he will have failed as a GM. Time will reveal shortly.
-
If the Isles aren’t going to trade Nino or Strome, there won’t be much interest in the other prospects. Perhaps players selected in the 2010 draft have some value (Mayfield). Ness, Katic, Donovan, Ulstrom et al. have absolutely no trade value, contrary to the belief of some people that the Isles are overloaded with quality prospects.
-
Bring up Haley. Get some toughness back in the lineup to go along with Martin. The isles have gotten soft again. It cant hurt to at least try something to get this team on track.
-
CB keeps saying that as long as Wang owns the team, Snow is the GM. I am not in favor of firing Snow at all, but what kind of policy is this? The GM has no accountability? I happen to think Garth has treated this rebuild correctly, but now is the time to add some real veteran talent, not just old players who bring nothing to the table on the ice. I love CB and I know he truly loves this franchise, but perhaps a little more criticism is in order. He did briefly mention Okposo being a big problem for them. This can’t be stressed enough…for all the problems this team has, Kyle Okposo contributing absolutely nothing is near the top of the list and hopefully he will find himself sooner rather than later.
-
The biggest problem is the fact they once again made enemies with a great locker room guy (Kononpka) and ran him out of town. They went out and got Marty Reasoner to replace him but he’s god awful. The guy is nowhere close to being a faceoff guru like “Z” and he is missing his “toughness”. They found out that Reasoner cannot play the PK so they had to get Pandolfo. Reasoner has 3 points thru 12 and Pandolfo has 0 points and 4 shots on net through 12 games. So instead of paying the league minimum for 1 great guy that gave the team life and spunk we opt for 2 useless, older, washed up players. The next problem is waiting for Nino to return. With his return scoring should improve and we can sit Pandolfo, Comeau, or Reasoner. The other problem is the play of Mottau and Eaton on the back end. They are showing their age and injuries and have been terrible. Andy Mac is also slow to return to form from last year (hip). I don’t see how it would hurt to bring up De Haan or Wishart. Give DeHaan a shot or let Wishart continue where he left off (20 games 1G 4A and a +5). BTW Wishart was the only Isles defenseman to have a positive +/-. Finally, play your best goalie god dammit!!! I don’t give a crap if Montoya is in the doghouse or he isn’t a Garth Snow guy (word on the street). But, if you are putting up great numbers and considered by analysts as a promising figure then why aren’t you getting the nod? BTW when I say analyst I’m not referring to those hacks on espn.com (Hradek and LeBrun).
-
It is now to the point I walk by a ranger fan with my head down. Does want really own snow. If snow mans up and does the right thing what can happen. Wang wont fire him he will look stupid and if he does he will find another job . Hell. Mike milbury did. Remember when DP was drafted for the rebuilding process… well he’s in his thirties and the islanders are still rebuilding. Its hard to watch them
-
I am completely passive about this team. I can’t make them win or lose. They do what they do. I’m beyond caring.
-
This horrible start sucks and watching KO regress is hard to witness…But its gonna turn around! Guys lets stop acting like the seasons over and give it a little more time…
-
Hey at least we get a top draft pick again
-
As things stand now, the Isles will not even sniff the playoffs. We have three decent defensemen, and two or three forwards that seem engaged every game. Other than Grabner, the Isles have no team speed, the team is passive and small, and the only hitter is Martin. The best goalies will not play that much because of a nutty three goalie rotation, and DP’s contract. Our young core are looking like busts, and the Isles also lead the league in over the hill, walk on players. Chris may be content with this mess, but most smart fans can certainly see what a joke this organization continues to be. Even without a trade, bringing up Haley would be a small step in the right direction.
-
The season will be over if by Christmas we average 1 win very five games.
-
What makes this worse is that I have to go to work and face the arrogant Rag fans since they won their 5th in a row, ugh!
-
Maybe it’s just me, but the Islanders couldn’t afford to have a slow start. Some fans on here are already giving up on the season and thats a bad sign. They needed to start of very good in the beginning of the year to draw fans and to have a good shot at making the playoffs. It’s to early to say they won’t make the playoffs obviously, but they need some kind of spark to get them going. They have do a better job of moving the puck, they have been very sloppy. If you watch other teams play, their passing is much better. I always liked Okposo as a player, but he doesn’t look like the player I liked. Every time the puck is in the corners he never hits the guy, he poke checks all the time and rarely gets the puck. He is coughing up the puck way too much, most of his shots are either blocked or missing the net. Bailey needs to shoot more, he has a good shot, but he passes when he should shoot.
-
Caught the end of the Ranger game tonight. They look a lot better than the Isles. They interviewed the kid Stefan at the end. He said there is always room for improvement. Outside of JT where is that attitude on LI?
-
I have given all a fan can give to a team for 40 years. The first 20 years were pretty darn good and the last 20 pretty darn bad.
The Club is off to a dissapointing start this year because Snow blew the team chemistry by forgetting about the energy and edge guys, except for Martin. He brought in washed up vets who have regressed our progress. We have several guys in the line-up who have yet to register a point or score a goal 12 games into the season! Can Snow even evaluate talent? Perhaps he should have moved these guys during the off season. And of course since last year we couldnt bring in even one credible player who might have made us better. And now with the fan base as frustrated as ever, Wang and Snow clam up and say nothing and do nothing. Capuano, who I thought did a good job last year, seems now to be every bit of an AHL coach, who likely wouldnt be considered head coach caliber by any other organization in the NHL.
I am pretty tired of going to games that have no meaning as we are always in last place. The last great moment at the Coliseum was Bates goal against Toronto. A true fan stays loyal to their team through thick and thin, but quite frankly I dont know how much more of this garbage I can take. When hanging out at Champions before a game becomes more prominent than the actual game, its time to ask myself why a guy from Jersey
would remain loyal to this franchise. -
I wonder who the Isles will sit if they figure Nino is ready for full time NHL duty.
-
Steve C, there are many candidates.
-
-
Although I am furious of the lack of improvement made by snow… There is a POSITIVE within the situation. the islanders are having there struggles early in the season rather it being at a time where is becomes too late to compete. also they islanders have played the fewest games therefore it isnt as bad as it looks in regard to the points. that at least makes me feel better. i hope i truly hope the islanders can turn it around soon compete for a playoff spot and give snow a reasoner to improve this team come February
-
Martins not just a good hitter, he’s the leagues best hitter. #1 in the NHL and he’s an Islander
-
From what i’m seeing, Nail Yakupov is an absolute beast. Fail For Nail campaign has begun.
-
Calm down. It’s 15 games. Snow is buying (needs to buy) one more year for Strome and de Haan to make the team. Nino’s groin didn’t help either. We are right where we should be. Mouls, Grabs – and ahem, KO – need to put pucks in the net. We’re okay. Breathe. Most of these vets will be dealt w/in months to contenders: Rolston, Reasoner and Staios – and probably a goalie. Our prospects are doing what they do: develop. Edmonton had to finish LAST in order to get Hall and then Nug-Hop. If we finish last, so what? We get the Nail. Washington and Pittsburgh went through the same thing. Relax.
-
It’s just not a good NHL team. Watch other teams, at least they execute the basics. Strong to the net, smart clearing passes, proper reads behind the net/defending the cycle down low. Isles almost never make the smart clear of the puck, it’s like they are scared when they have the puck.
The D is suspect and the forwards, for the most part, are total perimeter types. No toughness, teams bully them and it goes on and on.
On and Snow is GM for life.
Great to be an Islander fan.
There were about 2-3 guys from that B Hawks cup winning team that would have been PERFECT for the Isles. Versteeg, Byfuglien, I know Campbell was uber expensive, but hey, these players can deliver and lead.
This team stinks. Period. Enough with this rebuild garbage, they will be lucky to end up 12th in the conference.
-
I don’t get how they don’t waive Motteu and Eaton and bring up Wishart. Wishart has to be a better option then those two.
-
Heres my take in KO, he hasnt been the same since PHANEFF rocked him in pre season a couple years ago ,(say what you will ,thats my opinion)To all you people that attend the games my question to you is WHY!!!!!!!!!! you need to be heard if you attend time to put pressure on management Snows gotta go ,Wang sucks, make a trade ,boo everyone all game long ,it will get someones attention

Look at Edmonton that is a rebuild, This is a MESS!!!! The problem is ONE thing that is Wang!!!!! Sell the team!!!!!!
