Corey Trivino Arrested, Kicked Off BU Hockey Team
According to BU Today, the school newspaper at Boston University, Islanders draft pick Corey Trivino was arrested on Sunday night and charged with three counts of indecent assault and battery, two counts of breaking and entering in the nighttime and one count of assault with attempt to rape. He has been kicked off the hockey team, effective immediately.
From BU Today:
Suffolk County Assistant District Attorney Cameron Merrill told the court that witnesses claim that an apparently intoxicated Trivino pushed his way into the room of a female student at 10 Buick St. and started kissing her and fondling her against her will. Trivino reportedly left the room at the student’s insistence, and she called the Boston University Police at about 11 p.m. Police arrived a short time later and placed Trivino under arrest.
Trivino, whose family flew in for his arraignment, appeared in court in handcuffs and a powder blue hoodie. He never spoke, standing hunched forward and head down throughout the court proceeding.
Head hockey coach Jack Parker says Trivino has been permanently removed from the team. “He is no longer associated with the BU hockey team,” says Parker (SMG’68, Hon.’97).
Trivino, a senior on the Terrier hockey team, was leading the team with 13 goals and 17 points in 15 games. He was originally drafted by the Islanders in the second round of the 2008 entry draft. Trivino had rebounded nicely this season on the ice after breaking his leg in February 2010 and would have had a shot at making the Bridgeport roster next year.
The arrest is another hurdle in Trivino’s life to overcome, although this one is decidedly different than the others. Trivino has been injury riddled throughout his BU career. During his freshman season at Boston University, he tore his MCL. In his sophomore year, he broke an ankle at the end of the year and, as mentioned, he broke his leg during his junior year last February. Now, the problems aren’t with his health, they’re with the law.

WOW!
-
Wow it sounds like he was having a hell of a year… what was he thinking? Oh he wasn’t, his penis was. Not a smart move, kid.
-
That said, whatever happened to innocent until proven guilty? This situation could be as easy as a girl misleading him or whatever. Not saying her claim isn’t true, but how can it be attempted rape when he “left at her insistence”? Unless he was a known troublemaker on the team, they could have suspended him until the case is resolved, no?
-
you make me want to puke.
-
Absolutely agree. Seems like some people may have had it out for him. Also how quick the coach and team are to say he is no longer associated with them. He leads the team in scoring yet he hits a little bump off the ice and it’s like he’s nothing to them now. How bout a little loyalty? How bout the coach saying Corey’s a great kid who fell into a bad situation and well be right here by his side to help him through this awful time in his life. I just hope the kids life isn’t completely over cuz some girl was made to feel uncomfortable….
-
you dirtbags really stick up for one another don’t ya?
-
-
good lord are you dumb.
oh, he left, so it isn’t attempted rape?
please, do us all a favor and don’t pollute the gene pool. kthksbye -
I’m a recent Alum from BU and I’ve read the police report. Trivino had numerous strikes before involving alcohol and the horrendous, degrading video called ‘Party like a Puckstar’. This was his final chance and he blew it.
Additionally, there’s no such thing as ‘misleading’. If a person says no the answer is no, regardless of whether both people are naked or clothed, drunk or sober. But this wasn’t the case in this incident. Trivino followed a Resident Assistant back to her room, forced himself into her room 3x and kissed her and fondled her without her consent. He only tried to run after she mentioned she was calling the police.
He left after she told him to go, but she answered the door a second and third time because she is required to answer the door when she is on-call as part of her RA duties.
Trivino wasn’t ‘misled’ and this isn’t a false allegation. There are witnesses. Coach Parker was 100% right to dismiss Corey from the team – the kid is an embarrassment to the hockey team, my school, and the Islanders.

Next we’re going to find out Wang wears women’s underwear
-
No snow does because I think he’s the woman in the relationship
-
You guys are such clowns. Nothing to complain about so you post this stuff like this? What are you? 12?
-
-
-
You mean you can’t do that?
-
Only if you’re on the lakers
-
-
Outstanding….I’m guessing the immediate dismissal means that a few other perhaps “alcohol related” infractions have been covered up to this point, and they were tired of dealing with him. Looks like the coach has been looking for an excuse for a while, would be my guess- otherwise, why would he not be suspended until the case is closed, being as he’s one of the best players on the team?
That said, hockey wise, he’s probably not making THIS team at center, anyway- if he was a sniper on the wing, that would really suck for us, but as it is, this may be the last time we hear of Mr. Trivino…
-
he will be on the Bridgeport PP by new years….
-
To top it all off on the islanders site he is the first star in prospects being graded. This is a serious situation and isn’t to be joked. But shouldn’t wang be charged with same thing being he has been doing it to the fans the past few years
-
Once again, you are a clown. You say this is serious yet you are leading the “jokes”. I have yet to see a post of any relevance from you. All you want to do is complain. This article has nothing to do with the Wang, Snow or the Isles – yet you need to complain. Get a life.
-
-
by the way it was at 11 pm, he mustve gotten an early start….
seriously though, to be leading scorer and kicked off the team without an investigation, this dude must have a laundry list of infractions with the team and school…
-
Any more comments on how bad of an apple Kabanov is? Being late for practice at 18 and having too many tattoos does not compare with this.
-
“The arrest is another hurdle in Trivino’s life to overcome..” yeah POOR TRIVINO…the girl should have let him rape her so he could play hockey. Didn’t she know he’s been injury riddled?
-
what at tool? top player on his team this year. I guess not suprised. College athletes think they above the law. Lets hope he stays healthy, god forbid he gets hurt, he’ll be pushing a mop back in toronto.
-
Another lovely detail added to the miserable saga that the Isles organization has become. Merry Christmas.
-
All this is, is bad press for a kid who wasn’t making Bridgeports roster next year anyway. Let’s be real, every team has a few bust’s every now in then. The draft is always a crap shoot. I can live without this guy being in the roster when we have guys like Nelson and Lee developing nicely, with still 2 years left in college. Their only going to get better.
-
Trivino will just be a figment of the Islanders imagination….they have enough bad press around how the team is run. They don’t need this clown to add to it.
-
this has nothing to do with the islanders…and more to do with a kid who was going to be in the echl next year at best
-
This was not the first time for Trivino.
-
hopefully more news on this comes out
-
I always find it amazing how people in pretty good situations can make such poor decisions. I would give my right nut to be able to play hockey for a school like BU. Corey, good luck, but learn this phrase, “Would you like fries with that?”
-
Everyone just remember that Cizikas had problems too and how we are hoping he gets called up. Everyone makes mistakes and your right he should be punished. That being said he was having a good year and maybe if he works out with Bridgeport that could change his life around.
-
Have in nice time in prison, Corey. See you in
2025. -
Between this guy, the guy who killed the player (Czikas) and Kabanov…… character is not exactly a prerequisite for the Islanders, is it?
-
the czikas thing is COMPLETELY different. Castillo suffered a concussion that should have kept him out of any contact for a FULL YEAR 2 weeks earlier, he died of a head injury (not neck/spinal/back). saying that czikas thing was in any way a character issue similar to ATTEMPTED RAPE is absolutely ridiculous.
I think BU knew something we dont since they completely removed him from the team (maybe this isn’t the first time, maybe he admitted something). If any part of these allegations are true, he should be banned from any collegiate hockey and i really hope the islanders just let him go and forget about him…we dont need crap like him.
-
Totally disagree. I have seen the pile driver performed by Czikas on Castillo. In my opinion, he should be in jail. That’s my opinion, I said it when it happened, and I won’t change my opinion because he’s an Islander.
-
Dude, Castillo’s own parents realize it was an accident and are close to Czisikas still today!
-

If he’s been kicked off the team, I’m guessing the administration has a bit more information about this than we do.
Oh, and so far as innocent until proven guilty, that is for the courts. When it comes to a university or other private institution, they do not have to wait, they can cut ties right away if they so desire. -
Back off the ledge these accusations get thrown around on college campuses all the time remember what took place at hofstra just last year if he came in drunk kissed and grabbed a butt his life is not over relax everyone…let it all sort itself out…if he did do it hopefully he gets a plea of probation and alcohol treatment and gets his situation in order I wish him good luck
-
Hey Levitrash,….your name says it all!!
-
haha
-
-
-
Not sure why they don’t have a dry season at BU. When I played in the NCAA we had to sign forms that included we would not use alcohol, drugs, no gambling etc. If you got caught, you were suspended so we always had a dry season so no one got in trouble. Always time for drinking in off season. Doesn’t really sound like rape, sounds more like a drunk bully, but as you guys are saying, they probably know more about his character than I do so this may not be his first brush with trouble. Dumb mistake that will probably ruin his life in hockey.
-
Anyone remember the Duke Lacrosse team and how everyone condemed them until the truth came out?
The University dumped the whole team that year w/o the facts.
-
We have no idea about the facts of the situation. Scorned lover/crazy bi$ch or athlete that felt he was above the law…I don’t know and neither do you.
Duke Lax team ring a bell.
-
we know lot’s of facts can’t you read. THERE WERE SEVERAL WITNESSES. Thank god they intervened. How about some compassion for the victim. yeesh

Boy! that pre draft psyche test the Isles rely on really seems to weed out the problem….oops! Never mind!
Nice pick! Center that the Isles picked 15 picks ahead of first line and emerging Ranger Star Derek Stepan! Nice pick Garth!-
Draft picks are a crap shoot….In the 1989 NHL draft nicolas Lidstrom was picked 53rd, Sergei Federov was 74th, Pavel bure was passed over by every team many times before being drafted 113th overall. So with that reasoning, you might as well say NICE PICK BILL TORREY!!! (we picked Dave Chyzowski 2nd overall, 126 games in the nhl scoring 31 points).
Zetterberg was selected 210th overall in his 1999 draft. Martin st louis went UNDRAFTED.-
Are drafts a crapshoot? Yeah, but that draft class was for the Isles was highly touted for years (Botta has written a ton about how great this draft can be). Looking back at it four years later, it turns out that it was a pretty crummy draft for us. Hamonic is great, Bailey (as we all know) is erratic and inconsistent, Martin’s a solid role guy, and everybody else is kind of a dud. And don’t act like it doesn’t hurt to see Stepan tearing it up on the Rangers while this kid tears it up in jail.

if he did it then he will answer…..but until he is found guilty its ?

As the father of two sports minded, young, boys, I always knew I would have to teach fair play, the ability to win with class and dignity and try to make them understand how they should always behave in a manner ” to make your family proud of you”. Thankfully, they have never had one of their favorite players “let them down” in the way they carry themselves, act or play their respective games. Until last night that is. Now I have to explain the do’s and don’ts of alcohol as well as no means no…UGH…
I have met Corey, he has been very generous to my family, in terms of his time, his attitude when dealing with my sons and his generous nature of handing stuff to them at the arena. This is NOT the young man we have come to befriend and is such a shock and disappointment to me, as both a fan and a father. I am going to have to have a very dificult discussion with my 8 and 10 year old sons, but will use it as a teaching moment when I sit down with them later tonight.
-
The details of the police report have been released and it’s impossible to defend if it is the truth. But, in the wake of Penn State, I am glad to see BU handling this situation as quickly as possible. There should be NO TOLERANCE for this type of behavior, from anyone. That being said, I hope both Corey and the victim both get the help/couseling they are going to need going forward in the future.
-
Whether or not he is guilty of the sexual misconduct charges will be determined down the road. The disturbing thing is that he put himself in a position to begin with. It’s like these NFL/NBA stars who run into problems outside night clubs at 3 AM. The last time I looked, not too much good happens at that time in these places!
If he is convicted of the serious charges he is obviously history as far as this franchise is concerned. If it comes out that he he’s only guilty of some lesser (read: poor judgment) charges, the team should assess whether it’s worth investing in his future, including providing the necessary clinical help.
-
When your a senior in college, and have the potential to play pro sports,it’s time to get serious with your life.
Suffolk County Assistant District Attorney Cameron Merrill told the court that “witnesses” claim that an apparently intoxicated Trivino pushed his way into the room of a female student……..
The key word above is “witnesses”. I think this kid is doing time.
-
Here is the link with the police report info, so people can truthfully judge for themselves after reading what took place.

He was also with the Saponari Bros. when they got kicked out of school because of drinking…and I know they were in trouble before with the same thing, so he hass been a repeat offender for some time
-
Innocent until proven Guilty.
-
I guess only Pro athletes get away with Rape?
kobe & rapelsberger to name a few!!!!
As far as Trivino nothing like throwing your life away!!!!! DOPE!!!! -
This kid has had a drinking problem for a while now. This time while drinking he crossed a more serious line. While I agree that everyone deserves a second chance, I’m not sure a second, or third is required before we can say the kid is just a jerk that I would not want on my team. For the coach to dismiss him so quickly, it seems reasonable to assume that he has been a major distraction on the team for a while.
-
After reading the police report, it sounds like he had a fight with his girlfriend, she kicked him out several times (and opened the door several times). The problem is that he is not a stranger to trouble at the University.
I believe this incident got out of hand, since they obviously knew each other, and the woman opened the door several times, so how frightened was she really? I agree that no means no, and the woman got frustrated and called for help.
Unfortunate, but I still think he is a jerk!-
At BU resident assistants are required to open their door when they are on call. He knew that and took advantage

I’ve interviewed Trivino multiple times, and my daughter lives in the same dorm. In talking to him, I found him polite if not necessarily brilliant (not unusual among kids or athletes). He does seem to have an alcohol problem (according to multiple people I’ve talked to), and has a sense of athletic entitlement (again, very common among BU players, who are the top of the athletic heap — there’s no football and all other sports play low/mid-major level).
Before the season, I thought he would be lucky to get an ECHL deal, and that it might not be from Isles. He was playing his way into a contract. This figures to blow a hole in his pro hopes even if he is not jailed.
-
Did the islanders trade his rights?

A Busted Bust!
