  1. avatar Dan C. says:

5 goals in 4 games. Maybe, just maybe, it is time to juggle up the lines a little bit? Of all the strange ways in which this franchise conducts business, the unwillingness to mix up the forward lines for weeks at a time is the most mystifying.

    • avatar Greg says:

theres something to be said for consistency. this is why when Tavares was on his point streak cappy didnt want to change up his line at all. When he started slumping, he moved parenteau back to the 1st line, but still no results. In regards to the top 2 lines, he’s moved it around but maybe its about time to finally move nino out of the dungeon

      • avatar Dan C. says:

IMO,only JT and Moulson have earned the right to play together through a slump. The other 10 forward slots ought to be mixed and matched with impunity until the team starts scoring some goals.

    • avatar Hock says:

The most mystifying…..and easiest, cost free method of getting chemistry back!!!

    • avatar Steve says:

I agree, it seems really weird. I think the top line is fine and we should just wait for them to snap out of it, but past that the line combinations could certainly be tweaked. I’d rather see (2-4):
      Niederreiter-Bailey-Parenteau
      Grabner-Nielsen-Martin
      Rolston-Reasoner-Pandolfo

Rolston has proved he can’t compete on the second line and the strange decision to put him back in and send down Rakshani only hurts the team chances. Its time to let Nino step up and start getting exp for next year too. If this team does succeed in catching up to the last spot they certainly aren’t going far into the playoffs, so why not give Nino a shot?

  2. avatar James says:

LET’S GO ISLANDERS! need this game tonite. prove to Garth we’re buyers and go out and get Rick Nash!

  3. avatar MCG1 says:

Great that Wallace finally sits, just amzing that Pandolfo and rolston continue to play.

  4. avatar #33 says:

This is why we will lose tonite.

    Rolston – Bailey – Martin
    Niederreiter – Reasoner – Pandolfo

  5. avatar Anthony says:

Dan C I couldn’t agree with you more. I have never seen such a thing. I don’t get why some line changes are not made. Now we have Reasoner back to center the worst 4th line I have ever witnessed. Poor Niño how is this helping him develop. We are back to fielding one of the oldest teams in the league and the softest team on top of that.

  6. avatar brian says:

Nieds is terrible. I don’t care if he is a rookie. There are young players all over the league that are excelling.

    • avatar Game Misconduct says:

Neids is awesome and if given more than 4:30 of playing time nightly he will prove it I assure you!

      • avatar Dan C. says:

If you think Niederreiter is terrible then you haven’t been watching the games very closely. A player with his size and creativity is very rare. However, he is only ever on the ice with quality linemates (like #91) when he is at the end of his shift and a bit out of gas or for a few seconds at the end of a power play.

    • avatar Whaaaaaaaaaaaat says:

Are u watching the games or just reading the stat line

  7. avatar The Frans Nielsen Experience says:

Someone needs to explain to me why Nino will be on the fourth line again tonight. With Reasoner back, that gives us the chance to play the three vets on a line. That is a chance for some chemistry, no? It also gives Nino a shot to develop chemistry with two guys that are going to be here for a while (we think), like him.

  8. avatar Claude says:

Heard today that Nash is being shopped for younger players
    Imagine him playing with JT?
    Ahhhhhhhh…….a man can only dream

Thank god Reasoner is back . The cup is ours

  9. avatar Imetbossy says:

Wang is a joke, and the joke is on all of us who support this team. I have been telling you all that this guy is a clown for two years now. The sad part is that everytime this team goes on some sort of a “run” we begin to think that there is some hope for anything, but ultimately we end up at aquare one. At the end of the day , this franchise is a disaster from the top down… That said, I hope they lose tonight and the rest of the way. At the very least it will make the draft that much more interesting. Anything else will be like “slow death” or torture….Much like its been for 20 yrs or so. The reality is they have NO CHANCE ! NO playoffs not w this clown running the show …We can still “Fail for Nail” or “go for Grigo” “hurry for Murry” …Go Jets ! and go anyone who plays the rangers…

    • avatar justin says:

You hit it right on the head, John, Anyone knowing the game and Martys jr. exploits with Stamkos knows that where he belongs. Makes room and gives the opponents something to think about besides Tavaras. Equals success

    • avatar Don says:

Imetbossy, you are a joke. Did you create your screen name thinking it will give you cred? Anyone that roots for his team to lose so they will get a higher draft pick is a fraud. Especially when it’s a lottery and #1 isn’t guaranteed.
Take your fraud negativity and go root for the rags.

  10. avatar John from Valley Stream says:

    Moulson Tavares Martin
    Nino Bailey Okposo
    Grabner Nielsen Parentau
    Rolston Reasoner Pandolfo

And Staios in the box in favor of Wishart

  11. avatar Daryl says:

The three old useless tits are dressed, great. Glad I paid $185 for my ticket tonight.

  12. avatar Brian G says:

The Question is, would Rick Nash agree to come here….probably NOT. Snow should def inquire… But you would have to trade at least Nino, a 2012 1st round pick, & Montoya to start.

    • avatar Sean S says:

      Brian G, Nash would cost a lot more… I’m thinking Moulson, Nino, 2012 1st, 2013 1st just to start.

      • avatar Dan C. says:

That is an awful lot to trade for Rick Nash, who, while a very good player, hasn’t exactly led the Columbus Blue Jackets to the promised land.

      • avatar Game Misconduct says:

Why dont you just offer up the development rights too?!? Your way to generous and Nash aint worth that package!

      • avatar Mad Mike says:

Sean, that is THE most insane trade offer I’ve ever seen. EVER. And “just to start”…you’d add more to this offer? Are you nuts?

        • avatar Dk says:

What diff does it make, he makes what 6.5 per year which would put us 6.5 over the floor. There is a better chance of DP playing 73 games next and winning the Vezina.

    • avatar Nick M says:

The beyond worth it. And you would have to think he understand CBJ are in worse shape then NYI ( except arena). Hopefully playing with JT would entice him.

    • avatar Steve says:

I think Nash would, he’s shown a lot of loyalty to Columbus and I really think he’d be interested in going to a franchise that is slowly going up (and which he can accelerate), rather than a sinking ship. I would actually probably place him on the second line to get some balanced scoring.

And yea, Moulson, Nino and two first round picks is the absolute worst trade for Nash, it would NOT take that much. Given Steve Mason’s issues, I could see either Anderrs Nielsen or Mikko Koskinen shipped along with this year’s first rounder and perhaps Ullstrom and Cizikas. We have depth at center anyway (if you count Bailey as good).

  13. avatar Anthony says:

John I like the first three lines. The whole fourt line should be in press box for Ullstom-Czikas-Haley

  14. avatar The Sick one Six says:

John from V.S., I agree but with one change. swap Nino for PAP…

  15. avatar Nosebleed says:

Oh joy, another night to either watch paint dry or watch the Icelanders…I choose paint.

I can’t bring myself to watch a rebuilding team, though they are one of the oldest in the league (makes sense, no?), and watch two number 1 picks skate around like they never stepped on the ice before tonight.

  16. avatar Anthony says:

Dressing Reasoner, Pandolfo and Rolston is a joke

    • avatar Hishutzi Skorz says:

Play them altogether. When they skate out, the P.A. guy can announce, “Hey fans, it’s time for the AARP line!”

      The Great Geritols?

or a spinoff of Ray Romano’s show,
“Old” Men of a Certain Age?

  17. avatar Martin says:

At least Wally throws some hits when he is in and is only 27 yrs.

    Reasoner / Pandolfo / Rolston = OLD

    • avatar Game Misconduct says:

Reasoner = Reason not to watch!
      Pandolfo = Painful to watch!
Rolston = Roll him up in an old rug and dump him on the shoulder of the LIE!

I guess somebody was craving some OLD time hockey and hired some OLD TIMERS…talk about mixed messages!

  18. avatar RWM says:

At least it is away so I can scream at the TV and have some drinks instead of kick myself for buying season tix……just think how much less bashing we would be doing today if at the very least they swap Nino and Rolston? I hope there is not one second Staios is on the ice while the other Geriatrics are……

  19. avatar Eddie Shack says:

Reasoner, Rolston and Pandolfo? We’re going backwards in our rebuilding. Double runners and walkers for the three of them. The players on the other teams must laugh themselves silly when they see this bunch of senior citizens. Two speeds of skating…slow and stop.

  20. avatar kingdm9 says:

now with 18g 21a 39pts really is this guy worth close to 8mil. I rather keep Kyle and hope for the best & with money to spend !! perry now thats a different story.

guys like spezza, sharp at least in the top 50 in pts. isles need to add a guy with heart like eric staal .

Isles must keep PA he is a guy who wants to be here and he put up pts.

in this league… teams should be begging islanders to take any contract with players in 8mil range and sub par seasons.

if you ask me I would be looking to do a blockbuster trade with frans and key prospects for a real #1 center. like thorton or spezza.

but if nothing is right Isles need a real deal (6 “3 or 4 230 lbs) 3rd or 4 th line center age 26 to 27 who hits and plays like a young arnot . a real character player .

wallace sucks …reasoner forget about it.
someone who wants to win and has heart like martin.

our 4th line should be built for playoff’s style rock and sock um hockey.

boy do I miss guys like Pilon and Ken Baumgartner.

Islanders use to be built around toughness but those days are gone.

LETS GET BACK TO 500 and steam roll in to the playoff’s

    LETS GO ISLANDERS !!!!!!

had a blast playing in the SWTG #9 got rocked by Boomer.lol but help lead the charge for team blue to win.

    • avatar Nick M says:

Please don’t compare KO with Nash. Nash would be perfect with JT. Big body, create space for each other oh and Nash can actually finish. You put Nash with JT I would Be surprised if he goes below 30 goals per season

      • avatar kingdm9 says:

Coming off a major injury from last season getting no playing time and benched. Lately K.O has been playing better and is developing in to a solid player and starting to get back his strength . The point being with 5.5mil difference in salary I would keep KO .
He will become a 30 to 35 goal scorer & and has more upside . Nash has done nothing and mgmt went and got him Carter and that didnt help.
Perry yes Staal yes. Nash.. sorry man I rather spend the money on Shea Weber at least that plugs a huge hole and he plays about 25 to 28 min on d.
plus strome is suppose to play with jt next season.

        • avatar Mad Mike says:

Strome is a center ice man. He won’t be playing with Tavares when eventually cracks the line up. Hopefully he’s the answer in the #2 center hole.

        • avatar Dk says:

You know who that money will go to Scott Gomez. He is the next Rolston.

        • avatar Nick M says:

Nash hasn’t done anything? Look at his career without carter… Scored over 30 goals each year except his rookie year (understandable) without much if any talent around him. Defenses could just focus on him but still got it done. I never said give up KO for him. Snow wouldn’t trade him, he just signed. Also Columbus wants draft picks and prospect. KO is no longer a prospect. KO is not a first line player and he is not playing his position properly(power forward). Nash would provide balance in the essence that others get in their natural roles (Okposo second line player). Stall is a center. Perry’s asking price is too much and I don’t think he would be let go before Ryan.

      • avatar Game Misconduct says:

Nash has control of his destiny with a no-move…hes not going to green light Lng Island…its a pipe dream…now get off the pipe!

    • avatar Whaaaaaaaaaaaat says:

I’m sorry do u really think we need to get a number 1 center

  21. avatar kevo says:

this coach is a clown. how can you recall wishart and scratch him yet still keep eaton & staois in the lineup?? now they have reasoner back which makes this team even worse than it has been. only the islanders would put their 2010 1st round 5th overall draft playing with marty reasoner & jay pandolfo. how can that help his developement???? usually when you play with good players, you play better….now our 5th overall pick is getting worse and losing confidence playing with these two scrubs. If your going to get verteran leadership, get players that make a difference in a positive way not a negative way. Eaton, Mottau, Staois, Pandolfo, Reasoner, Rolston are all terrible, old and scrubs. they should be replaced with ness, wishart, reese, haley, ullstrom & cizikas

Get a real coach & gm already!!!

    • avatar Whaaaaaaaaaaaat says:

      A wishart sucks
      B capuano didn’t recall him
C every team calls up an extra defenseman for roadtrips in case of injury they did the same thing with rees e earlier in the year for the phoenix and anheim games

  22. avatar Larry g says:

    Earth to Wang/Snow…

Perhaps you missed, Rolston-rustbucket, in the lineup, kills entire offense, especially the PP. The PP was scoring regularly, without rustbucket, but that was too much success for Wang/Snow to stomach, it seems.

NoReasoner, seals the deal, Wang does not want to get into the playoffs. This snake of an owner, must have a deal, with a potential buyer, that is demanding another top 5 pick in the draft, this summer.

Nothing else makes any sense, as to why Rolston, Reasoner, Pandontful, and Stalemost, are all playing tonight.

What Wang, ignores, as well, is the potential damaging affects, this has on the kids, JT, et al. JT has a right to be tired, since half the team, doesn’t belong in the NHL, and JT has been busting it, for some time, to make up for the recent FAs from last summer. If Wang keeps putting out these detrimental, old farts on the ice, that just adds more pressure to JT, which is completely ridiculous, & unwarranted, at this stage.

There is no coincidence, every time this team gets on a roll, and starts to build momentum/confidence, Wang forces these old farts back on the ice, to trip them up.

Can anyone provide a valid excuse, for today’s lineup, with those four gutless old pukes, back on ice?

Frustrated 40 year fan, Former Season Ticket Holder.

    • avatar Whaaaaaaaaaaaat says:

Why pleSe give me a good explanation why Charles Wang goes out of his way to force this team to lose?

      • avatar Dk says:

Because there is less of an outcry if a 72 point team with 6k in the seats leave than if there is a playof team averaging 15,000 takes off to another city.

  23. avatar ed says:

Rolston Pandalfo Reasoner Staios. This is our rebuild. Incredible. How Wang thought he was getting his lighthouse project done is beyond me. Talk about a moron

  24. avatar Matt says:

WHY IS ROLSTON ON THIS TEAM….. ENOUGH.

Poor Bailey and Martin, that guy is a slug

  25. avatar sm says:

get the tissues, team whine is posting again. give it rest, and stop trolling with the “i’m never coming here again”, “i can’t support this team”, ” are suck causue the fourth line is klling us” and ,my favorite
“nino needs the third line”. HES GOT 1 GOAL ALL SEASON, A SINGLE POINT ALL SEASON.” clearly, hes the ANSWER!
what was interesting amongest all the tears around here was the Caps are desperate for scoring, are looking for help and the name John Carlson was mentioned. theres a name worth owning, under team control in terms of salary, and plays the blue line
(where we need help the most). Rick Nash is not coming to Long Island, even more so as hes not capable of playing the blue line. but wait, lets complain about long term contracts, and then trade for one. do you guys even think before you post? back to carlson( available as per CBSsports).
6’3″, 211 lbs plays 23 minutes a nite, 27 points and is 22 years old with 159 games at the NHL level. there is a guy you target, and offer PaP(if you can’t extend him) and something else if necessary. then you can make the fans happy and move nino up, and make Streit happy by giving him a real partner.
is it gonna happen, i doubt it. but its a way more useful move then signing another foward, when we are starting guys like Staios and Jurcina 18 and 19 minutes a nite. jurcina is a mess, and Staios cant hold up playing that many minutes.

    • avatar Mad Mike says:

You sure you don’t mean John Erskine???? He’s available. NOT John Carlson.

      • avatar Dk says:

And John Carlson was drafted by the Capa 15 picks after we took de Haan. And we moved about 4 picks to get up that high …. Or all of the accrued picks on the Bailey trade down (snow could have traded down anotherm3 or 4 times and still got Bailey).

        • avatar Sm says:

ESPN NHL rumors at 8:37 on Tuesday morning..
I agree 100% with you guys. But if the Caps are desperate, you make pretty much everybody aside from your top three defenders, and JT and Strome. no sense trading a defender to gain a defender. But these are the times and situations where you can make a big improvement in your team. And if you have to overpay, you overpay. Players like Carlson aren’t available often.

  26. avatar ed says:

Can’t say anything negative about Wang or Snow without your comment under “moderation”. Just sell the team already! Move to Quebec whatever. I will root for this team wherever it goes as long as Wang is gone

  27. avatar kingdm9 says:

Its the cap Isles are to close to the floor so they have no choice but to keep these guys around.

thats why they cant send them down because salaries come off ..not until like game 65 then most of the salaries count towards the cap. at that point isles could be out and guys are sent down with kids coming up.

Injuries are the only way to see the kids up.

why wishart is not in over motts?
    and its haley time!!

are 4th line sucks and poor nino looks like josh last year. LOST!!

  28. avatar Cold Spring Harbor says:

Reg Dunlop dresses Thursday in St. Louis.

    • avatar BanGarth says:

That is great. Reasoner is back , its comical at this point. Garth have some pride and step aside and let a real gm coem in and save this team. Rolston Reasoner And Pandalfo would hands down be the worst line in the history of hockey , does Garth get a prize for putting that together like when you come in last in a pool.

  29. avatar The Sick one Six says:

Now what do i do with my Wallace jersey? WHat if he doesn’t crack the line up again? Oh wait Cappy will Sit Nino for him…I’m Safe!

  30. avatar ed says:

I would love to see Snow package KO to Columbus for Nash before everyone in hockey realizes how over-rated KO is. Nash does not want a big market, but no arena deal takes him off table imo

  31. avatar Game Misconduct says:

Ladies and Gentlemen, welcome to Moose Jaw Arena….lets make some noise for your brand new NHL franchise, introducing the 2016 Mooooooooose Jaaaaaaaawwww Muttonchops!!!!

  32. avatar BanGarth says:

    Can we trade Snow ?

  33. avatar Game Misconduct says:

If they offered Nash twice his contract he still would not play on Long Island….dont you guys get it yet…this is where once great NHL players come to get their last big paycheck and fade into the night. The New York Islanders….were NHL careers come to DIE!

  34. avatar John says:

Omg! I just cant believe reasoner is back in the linup ,this team has got to be joking with the players they put on the ice!!!! they cant be that blind to reasoner, pandolfo, rolston….let them sit and watch from upstairs if they need to keep the cap floor. Its beyond frustrating already….

  35. avatar nightbite21 says:

Marty Reasoner……just the cure we were looking for. I really missed watching someone casually skate, crash into the boards missing his man w a halfass check ( this is actually a teamwide strategy ) then finishing almost every play w a dump in or soft shot from the point. This guy brings absolutely nothing, NOTHING to the table. I hope I can eat those words tonight but his play thus far has been an f’in disgrace.
I am definitely on Nino’s side. Kid tries to do too much because he’s playing w absolute garbage for linemates. The little times he’s been on ice during a change he’s usually in the thick of something creative. Give him legitimate mates already!!! Oh right…..Snowjob said he’s getting his feet wet properly during his interview. I wish Sparky would throw a pie in his face already.

  36. avatar sm says:

the Isles are not trading for Nash. with all the misery around here about long term deals, why would you want another one?
Nino has 1 goal, ONE. i dont see him as the offensive dynamo that provides the secondary scoring this team needs right now.
How about the Caps? they are desperate for secondary scoring. if PaP cant be resigned, send him to the Caps in exchange for Carlson, a big defender playing 23 minutes, scoring 27 points, adn available according to cbssports. we need blueline help.

    • avatar Mad Mike says:

I’m not seeing on CBSSports where John Carlson is available. There’s no way that Washington parts with him. No way. He’s a stud and he’s 22 years old. I do agree that the Isles need blueline help. In the form of three defensemen. Keep Streit, Hamonic, and MacDonald. Get rid of the rest.

    • avatar Whaaaaaaaaaaaat says:

Lolololololololol this has to be a joke no team would trade John Carlson for an upcoming UFA

      • avatar Dk says:

Again if snow wanted Carlson he would have sat tight and drafted him instead of moving Heaven and Earth to get to de Haan. I believe Carlson went 15 picks later.

        • avatar Dk says:

Which is another example of why I don’t want snow.

          • avatar Whaaaaaaaaaaaat says:

If anyone knew what John Carlson and Calvin de haan would be 3 years later every gm would take Carlson, so let’s fire snow until he fixs his time machine

            • avatar Dk says:

Bailey v Colin Wilson then? Snow was the only “expert” that didnt see that one

            • avatar Dk says:

And more importantly it is NOT as simlpistic as Carlson v de Haan. It is Carlson v de Haan and 4 picks including a couple of 2nd rounders. If you recall Snow traded up twice to get to de Haan. It will just be so much easier when everyone realizes how much better we’d be with a real GM and an actual head of amateur scouting.

  37. avatar isleopine says:

I was so looking forward to seeing Wishart play tonight, but hey who could argue with the excitement that Reasoner provided all of us this season? I am soooooo excited we have him back!

  38. avatar 4countem4superbowlwins says:

Okposo, DeHaan, Bailey, this years #1, next years #3 for Nash – DO IT!!! Our #1 pick this year is worth more than any team in playoff contention can give.

    • avatar 4countem4superbowlwins says:

think of Columbus having 2 possible lottery picks to rebuild from. If Im Garth, Im on the phone right now

  39. avatar kingdm9 says:

you would make a great gm to trade with, if you throw in nino i’ll take it

  40. avatar Real Hockey Fan says:

.. Reasoner lol — some of the “know it alls” on this VERY BOARD told me how much better he is than Konopka, what a joke

.. This team is as soft as wet noodles, limp wristed softees, im embaressed for this team

.. Is this the same organization that had guys like Pilon, Kasparaitis, Webb, Scathchard, Cairns, Peca, etc, etc not 2 long ago — guys that played NHL hockey with some BALLZ HEART TENACITY?

.. Sadly it doesnt look it :-(

  41. avatar LaFontaine's the man says:

imo every line needs a guy who will go to the net and take a beating. the first line is fine as is, beyone that id make some serious changes such as….. bailey has looked like a real player as of late and i think he deserves a shot at the second line center job, grabs on one side and either nino or martin on the other to get in the paint n bang home rebounds. the current second line is 3 players who all work outside the paint thats not good enough for a second line, 3rd line frans PA and martin/nino wichever you prefer….4th line, unfortunately rolston has to stay bc they need his salary to reach the cap floor so rolston, haley, and resoner bc they are stuck with him also. the top 9 forwards are all gunna be heer a long time, CRAPPY needs to get his head outta his ass n juggle these lines and let these guys all learn to play with eachother. and please stop with the trade for nash crap. he will NOT come here we are not much better off then columbus and have the worst arena in hockey.

  42. avatar NYI says:

Rolston and pandolfo should be replaced by Haley and Ullstrom. Unbelievable Haley doesn’t play

    • avatar LaFontaine's the man says:

completely agree pandolfo should be released, but rolstons contract needs to be on the roster, he could be the healthy scratch, but his contract and cap hit of over 5 mil is what keeps them at the cap floor

  43. avatar Mad Mike says:

I love Rick Nash but some of the deals on here are obsurd. To get Nash, you’ll have to give up the equivalent of two first rounders and a second, similar to what the Leaves paid for Kessel. The price was too high for Kessel, but that’s what Columbus will want. Nino, this years’ first, and next year’s second could snag Nash. If he’d waive his no movement clause to go to Long Island….doubtful!!

4countem4superbowlwins: Milbury had two lottery picks in 2000. He left with Rick DiPietro and Raffi Torres. We know how that turned out.

    • avatar Mad Mike says:

Here’s another note on Nash: The word is the Blue Jackets may demand C Brandon Dubinsky, prospect C Chris Kreider from Boston College and a No. 1 pick. Kreider was New York’s No. 1 pick in the 2009 NHL draft.” Dubinsky is a good player. Kreider is one of the fastest skaters on the planet. The #1 from the Rags will be low though – probably 25th – 30th overall – which would amount to a second rounder for the Isles.

      • avatar Mad Mike says:

More on Nash: He won’t waive his no movement clause to go to the Island but Columbus’ goaltending situation is in a shambles. The Isles have three legitimate goaltending prospects. Nino, Koskinen, this year’s first. That works out to two top 5 picks and a second. Could work for both sides. Except Nash won’t waive his no movement clause to go to the Island. We can dream though.

    4countem4superbowlwins – 6countem6superbowlwins

    lol. steelers baby

  45. avatar Jonnythefuture says:

If anything i’d say wang is trying to showcase these geezers in the off-chance we can unload them at the deadline. That also includes nabby who wants outta here anyway. I think we vilify wang and snow too much. Alot of what happens is not really their fault.

  46. avatar Phillyo says:

Can somebody please explain to kingdm9 that this is a team sport. In order to get scoring opportunities you need capable fowards. Nino has 1 goal because he has Sh^t for teammates on his line. He’s a rookie which means this will play on his psyche. Tough for a kid to play w/ any confidence in that dynamic. Last, unless you just read box scores, anyone who can recognize talent knows Nino has the physical skill set to potentially be at least a 2nd liner. I will join your Nino bashing once he gets some players equal to his abilities. & @ least a season then doesn’t produce. Until then, shhhh! BTW, most players take min 3-5 yrs to reach their potential. The Crosby’s of the world are an exception.

  47. avatar Hollywood says:

You want Nash then the offer must be Okposo, Anders Nillson this years 1st rd pick and a future 2nd round pick.
Iginla could be Okposo and this years 1st rd pick.

  48. avatar The New Isles GM says:

A chance to draft Yakupov or sending that pick with other assets to Columbus for that big body, Rick Nash. Yes, I’m going to go with the Canadian star over the soon to be Russian star. Always and forever. Sorry if I offended any of you Russians out there.

    • avatar Whaaaaaaaaaaaat says:

Smh this is stupid Nash never put up the junior numbers Yakupov is and Nash is probably the most overrated player in the league he cracked 70 Pts once in his entire career and is already starting to decline, but people are real fast to trade 2 top 5 picks and okposo and de haan for him, and now people want Nash over yakupov cuz he’s 4 inches taller and Canadian

  49. avatar Tom D. from New Jersey says:

My god…Rolston, Reasoner and Pandolpho in 116 manpower games have a combined total of 5 goals and 9 assists. Not to mention a combined total of -37. I mean really Garth, give us a break already. Are you that dumb. Who the hell wants to watch a team with those 3 bums in the lineup. Disgraceful.

  50. avatar Castaignos says:

I gotta be honest. After two periods against Florida I couldn’t take anymore. Suffice to say I turned off the Islanders and watched Zambia against Ivory Coast soccer online…
This Winnipeg game wasn’t getting my juices going either.
But now they’ve called up Wishart and I can’t wait to watch!!! :)

  51. avatar kenny b says:

I purchased the NHL ticket down here in Baltimore to watch Zenon, Haley, Gillies & martin………I get panawful, rolston, reasoner & staois??

What a screw…….Might be the worst offseason signings in NHL history. I know we have to get to the cap floor but with this??/

  52. avatar Jim Clark says:

Oh great, start the Russian version of Hardy Astrom in net who choked in the recent homestand by giving up a first shot goal to Pacioretty and lost two out of three. Is there a “Cop Rock” marathon on tv that I can watch instead?
Now that Mike Comrie has officially retired after a third hip operation (can you take the hint, DP?), can he use daddy’s money along with the money his beautiful and talentless wife has accumulated to buy the Islanders from Wang?

  53. avatar eric says:

OH REALLY!! REASONER IS BACK IN LINEUP? GOODIE WHERE DO I FIND THE GAME? PASS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Let me know when this team is serious about putting a winning team on the ice or at least guys who will fight for their team mates. SOFTEST TEAM IN THE LEAGUE!!! UNWATCHABLE!

  54. avatar Tom D. from New Jersey says:

I have no stomach to watch this game tonight or any other when these washed up, useless guys who have been mentioned plenty of times above, are in the line-up. How the clowns who run this team can get away with this is beyond me. Totally insulting, embarrasing and
disgraceful. Wang, Snow and Capuano are all losers.

  55. avatar MarioCT says:

Everyone is saying that Nash won’t wave his no trade clause. How do you know? Is Columbus that great a city? You don’t think he saw Tavares play and wants some of that? You never know!

    • avatar Dk says:

Nash may or may not waive his NMC to come here … True

What won’t happen is chuck paying the money if he did accept coming here. Then again since snow hasn’t made a trade in 5 years it really doesn’t matter.

  56. avatar Jersey Steve says:

A few beer leagues have scouts at the game tonight to check out Rolston, Pandolfo, and Reasoner.

  57. avatar Walt says:

Roger Kortko and Randy Boyd where are you?

  58. avatar DaGiants says:

Also, the worst part about this whole thing is that if we win tonight, guess what? Old farts are going to be in the lineup next game…and then *poof* back under .500

  59. avatar DaGiants says:

I’m sorry to post so many times, but I always forget to mention something in my previous posts. Anyhow…
Just look at Reasoner, Staios, and Rolston, I mean look at their appearance! They are graying, aging, men. I mean not even sports-old, this is real-life old! They look like they should be out on a golf course! And just to point out… Rolston is no Selanne or Jagr, he was nothing more than an above average player even in his prime. he is a disgusting liability

  60. avatar Danfromouteast says:

You know you’re getting old when you just skate into a goal post and take yourself out of the game. Pandolfouch

  61. avatar Jon in Chicago says:

Getting dominated by mighty Winnipeg. Feels like the Jets might get 50 shots in this game.

  62. avatar MarioCT says:

    2-minutes interferance right goal post.

  63. avatar j from nj says:

The 4th line is useless. Staois and Eaton are awful. Rolston needs to go get injured.

  64. avatar koopatroopa says:

why oh why oh why is rolston playing??

its no surprise that the isles were hot with him being on the bench.

why call up wishart and then scratch him

keep rolston and reasoner off the ice.
    i cant stand this BS.

this is why we’ll never win…we keep claiming youth movement, yet we’re the oldest team in the league

  65. avatar Jon in Chicago says:

From playoff aspirations to bottom of the conference in the span of a couple games.

  66. avatar koopatroopa says:

this game is going to be a loss.
we throw out rolston, reasnor and pandawful

no way we complete for a playoff spot wtih that bs on the ice.

i think the isles are going for self sabotage

  67. avatar Isles4cups says:

I can’t believe how few body checks the Islanders throw! Hockey is a physical game…start hitting some of those flying Jets.

  68. avatar Lanny says:

Rolston Rolston Rolston. Could the puck be teed up any better on that last attempt at the end of the period. Come on. Boomer Esiason could’ve buried that.

  69. avatar Jersey Steve says:

This team is not making the playoffs. It’s just an unfortunate fact. The team does not have the right coach or the right mix of players to do it. Wang and Snow are asleep at the wheel.

    • avatar Dk says:

Jerry Sandusky would get. D Coordinator job again before anyone in the NHL offers anything to Snow.

Well maybe Lamoriello would. There has to be a reason he didn’t even kick in a pick when we took rOLDston so he could sign Zach.

  70. avatar caber09 says:

Was that the leadership Snow likes…Staois letting the guy take two shots all alone in the front of the net? Again with a glimmer of hope, Snow has FAILED, yes, FAILED to bring in help, just like every year since 2007. How many times can they go offsides on odd man rushes? Again the team looks FLAT…thats the coaching, wish we had a Tortorella, Nolan or Lavvy type.

Islanders Rebuilding with youth: Reasoner, Wallace, Pandolfo, Eaton, Rolston, Staois

Hey once these guys leave maybe, like the ABLI said…they can get another team to come play in Nassau, because its a great spot lmao.

  71. avatar TJ Bova says:

Wow….on a 2 on 0 you miss the net. I’m so glad we have Marty Reasoner

  72. avatar Bob says:

A 2 on 0 and to come out without a goal. Are you kidding me? Nino should have taken the shot. Could be from lack of playing time he doesn’t trust his shot.

At least we got the pp goal.

  73. avatar Danfromouteast says:

Rolston two give aways in twenty seconds! His release on his shot takes like two minutes. Man he sucks. If him and reasoner are still playing on ANY team next year they need to get a Chara slap shot to the face

  74. avatar carl says:

WTF was that?! Why is Reasoner laughing after totally screwing up a 2-0? He didn’t even make the goalie make a good save. Fine, you screw it up – but atleast be pissed about it!

  75. avatar Danfromouteast says:

You replace one useless player with another reasoner. I hate to say it because I never wished it on anyone but it’s the only way he will be off the team reasoner is like a reoccurring nightmare. Hopefully he takes a snapshot to the same hand

  76. avatar Danfromouteast says:

Reasoner sucks more than a busy escort service

  77. avatar Isles3113 says:

EMBELISMENT!!!! R U $&*#ING KIDDING ME!!!! THE NHL AND THE REFEREES R A JOKE… I LOVE THE ISLANDERS AND HOCKEY BUT CALLS LIKE THIS MAKE ME HATE THE NHL

  78. avatar TJ Bova says:

Wow…so apparently getting a face full of glass after being checked from behind is embellishment? Oh and I love that delay of game call. The near ref who was watching the puck said it deflected…but the trailing ref who’s 50 feet away said it didn’t….preeeeetty sure the other guy was in a better position to see and hear it you fucktard! The officiating in this league has gone from atrocious to nauseating…

  79. avatar Grandma's Boy says:

    Atta boy, Mr. Embellishment!

  80. avatar BobbyNy23 says:

Reasoner and rolston first stars of the game. Snow will never work in the NHL again.

  81. avatar RICH L says:

Hey Dk, as of your post @ 7: 57 pm,

    Dk says:

Crosby would struggle with Pandolfo and Wallace. Play with SH play like SH.

I know it does not pertain to hockey but remember the old adage…

    you lie down with dogs,

you wake up with fleas. lol

    • avatar Dk says:

A couple of new adages for you then Rich ….

Hand over your organization to Snow and the fans get Frost-bitten

Hand over your organization to Snow and get an avalanche of 40 year old youth movement pieces!!!

  82. avatar RICH L says:

Hey Claude, the only cups this team will see, is their athletic cups. lol

  83. avatar RICH L says:

Yeah, the Isles trade for Nash and Cappy puts him on the 3rd line. Ha Ha

  84. avatar RICH L says:

fuq dealing with the scraps[caps] and their sc.mb.g coach, I pray he gets fired, and never sees the inside of an NHL arena again, remember 1993 and Pierre Turgeon? Thats why I stated what I did, and it’s not that I was a big Turgeon fan, which I was not, but the hit took us right out of the playoffs at that time.

  85. avatar RICH L says:

Hey Cold Spring Harbor, Bring up the Hansens, along with their toys. lol

  86. avatar RICH L says:

    Hey Game Misconduct,

Clark “Jethro” Gillies was from Moose Jaw Sask. He always joked when someone would ask him where Moose Jaw was , he always told them, it is 6 feet from the moose’s ass. lol

  87. avatar RICH L says:

Next season we will be on this blog bitchin, and moaning about Wang, and Snow all over again, and the players on this team underacheiving prospects KO, Bailey, and old vets, thanks Charlie, and Garth now go and have coronaries please.Thank You
