THE MORNING SKATE: Much Ado About Parenteau
Yesterday Allan Walsh, the agent for PA Parenteau, took to the internet for a media blitz for his client. During the day Walsh dedicated much of his Twitter to his client and was in contact with Darren Dreger, which triggered a “scoop” at TSN that was misleadingly titled “Parenteau Shelving Contract Talks Until Season’s End.” I say it’s misleading because the following is artfully nudged into the second paragraph of the article (emphasis mine):
Parenteau’s agent, Allan Walsh says he and his client don’t believe it is appropriate to pursue contract discussions at this time, but will listen if the Islanders are eager to negotiate.
This is the silly season of trade deadline talk and posturing and with his client due for a nice raise from the $1.25 million he’s making this season, the veteran agent knows exactly what he’s doing and the timing couldn’t be more perfect. Coming off of a game where his client factored into two of his team’s three goals — including scoring the game winner — helping his team to move within six points of playoff position, it was the perfectly timed day for a media blitz.
Dregers’s article centered around quotes such as “playoff spot” and “now is the time to play hockey,” to draw away from the negotiation and make the player and agent sound like team players (and I’m not suggesting they are not), while Walsh was artfully playing both sides. He would like to “not discuss… contracts” except for the purpose of this article, I guess. He was “sure both parties will work diligently towards an agreement [when the season is over].” He said all the right things — literally all of them, from all sides — but ended up making no news into news while no one came out of this looking particularly bad.
This was likely all that Walsh wanted; getting his client in the spotlight after a big game to remind everyone of the various important deadlines and money that Parenteau will get whether it is with the Islanders or one of the other 29 teams.
Nothing changed yesterday. The Islanders and Parenteau’s camp are as far apart — or as close — as they were before Tuesday’s game. The difference is that we’re now talking about it.
ALL THE NEWS THAT’S FIT TO PRINT ALL WE CAN REALISTICALLY TAKE BEFORE VOMITING
There was a meeting of questionable importance at the Nassau Legislature on Tuesday morning and we didn’t cover it yesterday because two days of uninspiring news was enough for one week. If you’re interested, here’s a brief section on the events. If not, feel free to skip to the next section and listen to Mike Tyson say funny things.
Here are some quick notes and thoughts from me:
- Basically the Islanders have until the end of the year to come up with something. Except they already did a while back. So not only is Nassau is trying to pass the hot potato to pass blame but they also have no money and no idea what they’re doing. Maybe (hopefully) the Islanders have something and maybe (hopefully) the County can bound and gag the Town of Hempstead this time.
- Not much money is coming from the state.
- Good luck finding money from Nassau County.
- The Town of Hempstead and She Who Shall Not Be Named still exist.
- But hey there’s still time!
Anyway in case you’re interested, here are a bunch of links to people who had more profound things to say.

SOMETHING KNICKS RELATED THAT DOESN’T HAVE TO DO WITH THAT LIN GUY
I know this is only tangentially related to the Islanders (it happened on MSG!) but this is too funny to pass up. Mike Tyson was at the Knicks game last night as was the subject of the halftime segment Celebrity Row with Jill Martin. It’s not safe for work as there’s an s-bomb in there.
That video is of course from Keith and he’s really worth following on Twitter because these are the sorts of things he posts.
THIS IS THE BEST YOU CAN DO WINNIPEG?
I mean really, this is all you’ve got? CAPTION CONTEST! GO! I’ll go with “This is the scoring winger we desperately wish we had.“

Lol…that signs very funny…because the Jets were the losers. Oh..and because he’s basically pointing the sign at himself!
-
I said it before….Brooklyn/Queens/Suffolk here we come!
And Pay PAP!!!! If you don’t, you will definitely miss his playmaking. You paid Moulson and Nielsen, PAP is just as deserving…maybe more so than Grabner.(Grabner, by the way, in case anyone forgot…is finally overcoming the groin injury he suffered not long ago.THATS why he hasn’t been the same lately. But yes I do agree he has to learn how to finish his scoring chances.
Pay PAP!!!!!
-
Winnipeg says…Had Grabner with the Moose years ago. Seems a bit of a flash in the pan. But you can have Byfuglien for PAP.
Seriously though, this rebuild has been going on four years and if Garth doesn’t re-sign PAP it is all a sham for Wang to recoup the money he blew on Yash and Dipi contract disasters. (not to mention losses with the crappy SMG bldg lease) Cap floor teams are not going to win a cup or more than one round.
-
2 for 2, thats it

Caption: A New York Islander, circa 2012. R.I.P. 1972-2015.
-
I could not agree more,PA is having a career year and we still are 8 to 10 points out of playoffs. He would be the one to trade, see if Blues would trade Stewart straight up for him,he is bigger tougher and would get minutes with JT.He would also protect him.Ko moves back to 2nd line, gives them to big right wings.PA is good player, but i keep going back to Rangers, they thought his skating was not good enough,we see that every night, when we see him trying to back check. The Ranger game in Dec. he lets Dubinsky skate right by him at center ice,and he scores, until as a team, they make those hits and commit to that style, like the Blues and Rangers, you can keep all the PAs you want, you wont win on this level.
-
SO let me get this logic: PA is having a career year on pace for 70 points, and the previous refrain that he is getting all these points because he is playing on the top line no longer applies because he is now playing on other lines and still getting points so lets trade him because we are still eight points out of the playoffs. Has it ever occurred to you joe that we would be 16 points out if not for his playmaking?
No I guess not. -
Wow… that has to be the worst “logic” I’ve ever read. As if Brandon Dubinsky skating around a player is the sum of a guy’s talent (Parenteau).
I’ve seen guys skate around Niklas Lidstrom… I guess Detroit should trade him too.
-
-
-
uuuyyy the arena issue. polly want a cracker? politicians are corrupt waa the politicians are corrupt waaa kate murray waaa. as far as PA goes the islanders have been constantly 10 points out of a playoff spot all year, time to cash in a few chips. with all these forward prospects in the system i was even “shocked” when the isles gave Franz an extension-which doesn’t mean they can’t trade him (don’t think it does). Nabby is stealing games for the islanders this team is still not good especially the defensemen.
-
Like I said before and I will say it again people call your new York state senators about the islanders situation. The Lighthouse plan would have passed if it wasn’t so big they never tried to scale down actual whole plan. The developers don’t want to include an arena because it does not make any money for them. Building more condos and office space does to feed these big cow developers. They don’t care about the residents at all.
-
Hempstead turnpike is filled with empty store front that’s all we need more of them and another walmart 1 mile awy from an all ready existing one or some other stupid idea. Like i said developers only care about filling there own pockets not the residents. Charles Wang tried several time but I feel if he steps to the plate this time something will get done. The problem is I dont think he has the money to build it him self.
-
Also 200 million long island gets why not use some of the money towards the new arena. Oh I’m sorry we need that money to rebuild roadways over and over again cause it was not done right the first time. Watching wokers acually stare at each other while only 1 person works. It is incredable the money that is wasted.
-
Bottom line:
If Parenteau isn’t signed by 2/27, he will walk at season’s end. Same true with Nabokov. This is why I am not sold on Snow. He has to be firm in his stance, and set a deadline (i.e. 2/24). If they are not signed by then, ship them off. Both Parenteau and Nabokov could fetch nice returns. I am just afraid that they will be unsigned after 2/27, and we will get nothing in return come 7/1. Never trust agents!!!
-
I think the standings will have a big say in what Snow does. If the Isles are in legitimate distance of making the playoffs it will be tough to unload two key guys to help get you there.
I understand that you don’t want to lose two assets for nothing (i.e: Jose Reyes), but unless he brings back IMMEDIATE help in the deals it will be a (another?) signal that winning is NOT a priority. And even if he improves the D in a deal, the falloff in goal without Nabby might be too much to overcome.
If we fall out of the race, I’d move them either/both in the right deal.
One more point. If PA does resign (now, summer), Snow will have to move (at least) one of his other forwards. I’m sorry, but the crew of Fs as presently constituted will never win a Cup. Not enough overall scoring touch, size and/or physicality.
-
-
it’s not hard to do a contract if you want. saying they’d listen if the islanders were ‘eager to negotiate’ is just a move to put the responsibility on the other guy.
parenteau is a smart guy. he’ll play the free agent market and the chances of staying an islander are less than 50/50. he’ll get offers. maybe he’ll go back to where he came from.
too bad, he’s a player i’d love to keep. -
What im concerned about is if rolston is benched tonight
-
Wow…
The writing is on the wall. The Islanders are gone. I never thought this could happen.Crony Capitalism at its best.
I hope the Brooklyn thing is a realistic option.
-
PAP & Nabby for defenceman…
-
What kind of money would PA get in an extension?
-
Read that P.A. wants 3 times his current salary. That’s 3.7 per. Can’t see a team doing that. Was thinking 3 for 7.5 a month ago, but they might have to do 3 for 9 or 4 for 12.
-
If I am Alan Walsh I say if Rolston is making $5M, then PA should get $25M … LOL
-
I think it will take 3.25 over 4 years. He definitely deserves it and Wang can afford it after all the dead weight will be gone after this year
-
-
Wake me up when we win a playoff round or we make a significant trade to improve the team.
Hell wake me up when we call Haley up.Im gonna be very well rested !!!!!
-
I agree, us winning a playoff round is like Hayley’s Comet so I won’t even dream that big. But as you point out at least getting Hayley up here would be some sort of step in the right direction! But oh no, if he is called up we would need to demote Tim Wallace and he would be exposed in waivers. Can’t risk losing that gem now can we?
-
-
At this point who care what he gets paid just pay him and sign him for 3 yrs max. We the fans reep no benifits when the salary is low and we will reep nothing when the salary is high. it is not like we are saving the cap funds for Nash, perry, ryan. players need to want to play here first!
-
We should lock up PA now, if they want to keep him. What about a trade for Nash? I said this before, and got bombarded (because I mentioned Strome and DeHaan), Nash is a power forward who could bring upwards of 50 goals, if paired with JT. How about siging PA and trading KO, Grabner and a Brideport prospect for Nash. We would have a solid 2 lines:
MM-JT-Nash
Martin-Bailey-PA
As for the arena, I don’t think Brooklyn is a viable option, it’s just some bait and switch tatcis to get the ball rolling again in Nassau.-
Because Nash will not allow it to happen thats why. plain and simple. He has a NTC.
-
-
Did you guys know PA is 5th in the NHL in assists with 39?
-
They need to add scoring depth but they probably won’t until after the season. Try and trade rolston to a western contender, call rhakshani back up and put him on the third line with bailey and martin cause they played well together and make a deal for a defenseman. there is a perfect fit sitting up in the press box in toronto named mike komisarek who keeps getting scratched by the maple leafs. he would be a great addition and is a long island guy who still lives here during the offseason, so it makes a ton of sense for them even after hamonic comes back
-
first things first PA will not get more then JT second he might get what moulson gets.
But in the end PA should stay and Islander .
He shows a lot of heart and has improved year after year..expect a 2.5 to 3 mil range for PA I would tell my agent to have some big bonuses in that contract 30g/allstar ….
Naby will be delt by the deadline a lot of teams could use him and he is still 36 not to bad. This years draft sucks so Isles need to get back a top prospect better then a wishart in the eyes of management. If i was snow I would be looking for a guy 22-24 and could hit like a train for the 4th line ..
But speaking of ty ,just when this guy was starting to get hot Isles call him up to sit him down .. I really don’t get the philosophy here.. Cap better have him in the line up tonight.. This kid deserves a shot with his size.
The fact the Montoya has taking a back seat is only going to hurt him both physically and mentally. Al brings heart to the table and is happy to be here.. Isnt that what we want..
Now once everyone gets payed for next season isles should be at the cap floor with out the 33 and over crowd so say good bye to pand rols eaton staios motts . and back to another youth movement with strome dehann and some other of our top prospects .
Wang if I was you I would go to Queens bye citi feild ..near every highway airport train you name it..it’s there..plus once they build the downtown area with stores restaurants and apartments it’s going to be nice. only real problem is the mets are going to suck
Then comes Nvmc .. I would want a subway line to bring tourist out and to help commuters . It lacks a city environment inless you choose to build on the land to create a small village with shops restaurants and a park with a fountain. But its been 40 years and that part of town never developed anything but hofstra ..
game time st.louis is a solid team with speed and hitting Isles must double that intensity and jump out to the early lead.
I want to see this team past 500 tomorrow and push hard for the playoff’s garth sign pa by the weekend man..
LETS GO ISLANDERS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
-
Have you done any research on the draft at all? This is one of the deepest draft years in a long time. Tons of talent. Especially on defense.
-
-
KO should be the one on trade block along with other if the return warrents such. KO it seems will never be the “star” he was projected to be. Sign PA now!!
-
I do not see why Snow and Wang can not get this done! PA is a core player to this team.
If Wang and Snow let this ride to the end of the season i would have to think PA might not be signed.
They need to get this done to show Commitment to core players and also to other players that might play here.
with all the news about the HUB and 2015, Wang might not be committed to Anything.
SELL WANG SELL, GET LOST ALREADY! -
P.A. has to be resigned. They will not be able to replace him. In the off season we should try to land one or more free agents such as Gaustad, Ruutu, etc. Give the 3rd and 4th lines some toughness and scoring ability. Next year will not include Rolston, Pandolfo and maybe Reasoner. I have to say i have liked what Pandolfo brings every night though.
-
Guy’s having a career year but he’s soft , king of the stick check I remember when Dubinsky blew right by him. You can’t play that way as team and win the east. Nobody is afraid of this guy. I’d shop him
-
What’s sad is he is grittier than KO
-
I AGREE-SHOWS MORE HEART THAN HALF THE softies on this team
-
If we could only swap PA’s body for KO we’d have a great player
-
-
-
-
My guess is PA wants 4 mil a year Isles are prob offering 3…..deal will get done. He’s the 2nd best playmaker behind Tavares even though Moulson has 25 GOALS PA is like JT makes linemates better.
-
Let me get this straight.Garth signs KO,Grabs,Frans to longterm deals w/o any results from 2 of those 3 players but he doesn’t think PA is a signable player??All this is really sickening. It is now very clear Wang will do nothing for Nassau as he should but that also is probably signals the end of the NY Isles. There is plenty of blame to go around to everyone involved but that will be a moot point in 2yrs.Goodbye Isles.Nassau I hope your already crumbling economy folds.Oh but wait all they’ll have to do is raise everyones taxes to make up for the shortfall.Boy oh boy are people stupid or what?Hey maybe someone can get that kid w/ the sign to stand behind Kate @ the next meeting.Hell he could stand behind all of them as it applies to more than one person.
-
I would sign PA for 4 yrs 11m.
-
thats what they signed neilsen to, no way PA signs that, its too low for him to take compared to what he can get on the market. He’s probably worth 4 yrs in the $16 million range at least
-
3 years at $11.25 Million will get it done. Fair and reasonable for both sides.
-
-
-
The Isles are done in Nassau. Hopefully they remain in the metro NY market after 2015.
Sign PA already. He’s proven he can play, has helped every line he’s been on, and once Rolston is gone at the season’s end, you’ll still need to get to the cap floor. I’m sure Scott Gomez has given Garth a woody and will be a great replacement for either Reasoner or Rolston. After all he’s just about doubled the goal scoring prowess of either of those two.
-
If you can’t sign him by the deadline, ship him out. Not worth losing him for nothing.
-
do you know what the best part to Nassau residents?
residents shoot down the proposal for a tax increase to remodel nvmc. which in return would help in booking more shows and to drive in more money for the town..
but in 2015 when isles leave they will be hit with more taxes to make up for the lost revenue . LOL hahaha thats classic
this town will never ever see a pro franchise again..
inless they get the Tallahassee Wart Hogs or if Hofstra starts focusing on its athletic department..
-
PA = 2 years for 3 per year max
Nabby = offer him a 1 year 2.6if neither accepts, Trade them…
-
Love it and wouldn’t mind seeing both guys traded. If they can land a Carter or Ryan to grow with JT and we’ll have NINO and Strome coming up plus Poulin is our Goalie future. WOW awesome I say trade PA and his awful passing and Nabby who is up in years trade him to a contender get the guy a chance at a ring. SELL HIGH ISLANDERS (GARTH)!!!!
-
-
Wow, I was at the game and never saw that sign when Grabs was in the penalty box. I only saw it when JT was called for a BS delay of game call. And I was sitting right behind the Islander bench.
-
Every effort needs to be made to sign both Parenteu and Nabokov. Nabokov may not want to be here for any money. Parenteu will sign a reasonably good deal. 4yrs $13 mio? If he doesn’t sign that, he is crazy. PA if you are out there, you said last year that the one year extention was the first time you had ever been given a since of security. Sign that deal if they offer it. Don’t risk and injury in the final 25 games and possibly cost yourself millions!
-
YOU FORGET! at the beginning of the year Reasoner/Pando/Martin were the most consistent line. Reason went to the third line and his game went south with Bailey and who ever. minus big time. Martin moved up and the third started to do good things. the 4th with Reasoner/Pando Wallace not terrible. Nino needs to play his position.
-
-
nino needs to play with josh this kid is and explosive player who is playing hand cuffed .
but reasoner looked better playing with some talent i have to admit.. then again maybe it was the fact he hasn’t played in a few months.
the only thing i like about Nash is his age
-
I have a feeling that Snow will surprise us and sign him like he did with other players. I would not overpay, I still remember how Jason Blake wanted the big bucks, went elsewhere and proved the Islanders right, he was not worth it.
-
I find it amusing that everyone automatically puts a hate on Snow for not having PA signed yet! Take it easy. Does it not occur to you that perhaps he could be trying, but it’s the PA camp who may try to stretch this out until season’s end and wait to see what the market bears for his services. I mean, this will his one chance to cash in and so he’s going to make the most of it. Wouldn’t you do the same? I mean, don’t get me wrong, I’d love to see him signed and playing for the Isles, but you can’t simply assume that Garth is sitting on his hands and not doing anything. It take both parties to agree to a deal.
-
i agree. islanders would prefer to get this done. parenteau wants to wait it out.
-
-
A new stadium look what happened to the mets,a beautiful palace where in august the whole family of 5 for 400 dollars can watch a minor league Ballclub, all buy yourself. They expect the taxpayers of long island to foot the bill of a minor league hockey team that refuses to bring the kids up from the minors and only will bring them up if there is an injury . A coach that plays Brian Rolston with the stats he has,the only way the isles win if Nabby stands on his head and the taveras line scores ,the only way the isle deserve a new stadium is if wang sells the team and that not going to happen.
-
by the way, the internet is destroying the english language. the spelling around here is truly atrocious.
-
People are at their jobs have to type fast spelling a nobody a cares abaouta dat (italian accsent LOL I KNOW)
-
The butchering (not Butchieing, but close) of the English language is a process that began long before the internet.
-
Amen, Moonshine.
-
-
Get Nash…show the fans that youre trying, Garth. And Im hearing Kane is available…..kick those tires also. why is it only the damn Flyers Penguins Rangers Caps make all the deadline deals.
-
Kane is not available…who cares what jeremy Roenick has to say. Chicago would not even entertain that deal unless they get Stamkos like in return.
-
-
Sign both or swap PAP and Nabby and throw in Uhlstrom for Semin.
-
Semin would be great along side JT.
He would be a rental player though as he is UFA at the end of the season.-
Semin can stay where he is. Or go back to Russia. Milbury would be all over this guy. I hate Milbury. And Semin for that matter.
-
-
And if you do you will get another malcontent Russian hockey player…like Yashin. Take a cold shower before your next suggestion spring harbor
-
Semin is like Kovalev. Great player, but only when he wants to be. We don’t need any more players that want to just loaf. We have enough of those already
-
-
If we want the isles to make playoffs, there is no way they can trade Nabakov. He us the only chance. But remember Garth said he did not want a team the gets the 8 seed and gets bounced in first round. He wants a team that has a chance to compete for the cup year in and year out. So my question is, do we keep Nabakov possibly make playoffs and lose to the rangers or trade him for some good young players and forget the playoffs this year.
-
I say you only trade Nabakov if you are offered a big D man who is signed at least thru next year. No more picks! No player, no trade.
-
The return for Nabokov in a trade wouldn’t be great. Before the past month, I would have said a fourth or fifth round pick. With his play over the past month, I’d say a second or third. It would be difficult to get a decent defenseman for a goalie rental (see: Wishart, Ty). His UFA status hurts his trade value, but Dallas just got this year’s second and next year’s third from Philly for Grossman, who’s a UFA at the end of the year. Sign Nabokov!!!!!
-
-
Just for some Nash perspective, the Boston Globe states the Bruins would be asked for Rask, Dougie Hamilton, Kreijci, and a #1.
THAT IS A WHOLE LOT OF GOODIES IF YOU ASK ME. -
i would think the end of the CBA might have something to do with what PaP is gonna get, and probably had something to do with the extensions signed last season. I like PaP, and hes top 10 in assists. Goals my friends, goals are the thing. Measure his value by Moulson, not Tavares. I dont see anyway PaP pulls down more then a linemate who has potted 30 goals for what will be a third straight season. part of contracts is the salary structure inside the team. so before tossing numbers around, look at where he fits in the teams salary structure. That is a very important fact, and is being ignored.
the arena deal will get done when a plan accomplishes two things
a) makes it possible for the Islanders to make money
b) makes the builders enough money to justify their efforts.
that deal doesnt exist. the money is in commercial and resident space. the arena is just an attraction. you guys ski? the resort is there to sell real estate at the bottom of the mountain. golfers? the course is there to sell homes around the greens.
unless we are right in the battle, the isles trade Nabby. that smell in chicago, its desperation. a very cheap, very solid netminder should bring us a ready now defender( we only have 3 signed for next year). -
eric…parenteau’s awful passing?? being 5th in the whole NHL with 40 assists doesnt sound like awful passing. only people like you who obviously dont know hockey would say something like that. open your eyes bud
-
kevo: I noticed that too. Didn’t think it was worth replying to. Still don’t. Glad you did!
-
-
Wow, trade this trade that? Teams have their own personel and projects. Players that only do 1 thing are not in high demand sorry. But maybe I wrong.
-
We haven’t made a meaningful trade in 5 years, so I will need to see one before believing one is coming.
-
God no cold spring! Even my 4 year daughter knows Semin is the leagues biggest head case.
Red flag!!!!! -
The Rangers own Boston . Dollars to doughnuts come March 1st Nash is Bruin
-
I don’t think Boston give up Rask…I know i wouldn’t going into the playoffs. The guy is a start in the making and Thomas only has a few good year left (turns 38 april). If Thomas get injured or gets the yipps in the playoffs the team is out without Rask. Also, not sure about there top rated goalie prospect…that would also have someting to do with trading Rask. Nash is a bonfide start when he is playing with good players, i think JT is just that player! Do what you need to do to get him here and sign a few Dmen in the summer and we will finish 4th in the conference! Striet should also give up the “C” to Mottau…the guy is a stud!
-
the guys is a Star in the making…
-
THIS TEAM ISN’T BUILT FOR THE PLAYOFFS EVEN IF THEY MAKE IT!!! They’ll need a real 4th checking line to deal with the fights in the PO’s Martin can’t do it alone!. Oh wait we have Grabs, Neilson, Moulson, Bailey, Pandolfo, Reasoner and PA to protect JT…..I just threw up in my mouth!
-
the islanders are only 8 points behind a playoff spot but also they have two games in hand theoretically if they win those 2 games then they are only four points out of the layoffs. the islanders are also really hot right now and can make a serious push for the playoffs but they have one serous problem. GOAL DIFFERENTIAL!!! they are thirds worst in the east being minus 26 goals right now and are still a .500 team. that is not acceptable and they need to put up more goals. do what u need with PAP but get a good goal scorer that can help this team put up lots of goals and help with the goal differential. after that the isles would be a serious contender and hopefull stay on long island!!!
-
WTF PA is a bad at passing? Trade for semen? Really?
Streit (and a 2nd) for Dougie Ham.. Boston needs a boost to their power play.. AND so does Kings.. JJ is signed for years..
SIGN PA PLEASE 4 years at 13 or 14 mill hopefull
-
I have to laugh at some of you people. Yeh, let’s tade Parenteau, he’s only getting a point per game on the second line, and he’s so old. Just think we could trade him for a 20 something that we hope one day gets a point per game…. wait a minute isn’t that what we have in Parenteau??????
-
One more thing if I may. Why is Neideraiter still here? Why give this kid 8 minutes on fourth line duty? Why is Wallace here? Is he better than Haley? Why aren’t Haley and Gillies up, I guessGarth isn’t sick of seeing Tavares getting assaulted every night
-
I agree. No one was interested in him when we took him. Sign the kid. It’s not like we have cap issues.
-
I also agree with the second comments

LOL…classic…..that kid does realize that sign is pointing at HIM, right? Most of the Canadians I know are smart….I guess they have dumb hicks there, too…
Anyway….as for the building…..these nimrods are so dam*ed incompetent that Wang might as well just quit while he’s behind, and figure out something else…
